My boyfriend and I came up to Peterborough for a weekend with friends, we all went in for Manicure and Pedicure. David was a terrific host, funny, kind, and welcoming. One of our friends had never had a nail treatment before, so it was a real treat. I have a toenail that keeps cracking, and David suggested putting Fiberglass under a UV gel overlay, and it worked wonderfully. I am in Montreal, and had trouble finding an esthetician who would do the same thing, I called David, he is willing to work with me on a solution, They say personality opens doors, Only character can keep those doors open. David has character. Thank you Alicia's for hiring such a talent ! Brendan in Montreal.

I got my biogel nails done there a few days ago, and it's perfect! I did nails extensions in the other place before and I was not really satisfied. Keisha did it so well, the shape is perfect and shellac looks really good. I definitely will come again!

I am writing this review due to extremely dissatisfied experience i had with their services. I got my nails done for a family function. I had scheduled an appointment a week in advance to ensure that there is no rush. However, David did a very bad job and seemed like he was in rush due to a large wedding party that was getting ready at the salon. I phoned Alicia and told her about the poor job and she promised to redo the nails week later and told me that they will call me back. No one called me and infact i had to call them and remind that they need to redo my nails. The lady over the phone was rude and infact was telling me that i am rude. Nonetheless even the redo was poor. I am so unhappy and will never recommend nor go back. The only 1 star they deserve is atleast they redid my nails albeit very poorly. You dont keep going on the nail over and over again, that gives it a smudged look. If that’s how I want I can do that at home. The red polish is the first appointment and the pink is the redo. REVIEW UPDATE: Hey alicia, 1 week after the “redo” thats what it looks like. Please stop wasting everyone’s hard earned money. David should not be called a nail technician. He does a terrible job. I will make sure that everyone I know in Peterborough will not be given good reviews about you. If you really wanted to fix the issue you should have contacted me after i posted all those pics, but you do not treat your clients well. Update- Hiding my facebook review would not hide your flaws. Apparently they blocked people from writing reviews on facebook after they feared getting less ratings. Someone commented on my review post with a bad review for them and that is when I realized that they have blocked my review. Just posting a screenshot of my review

Avoid a haircut with Denise at ALL costs. I'm growing my hair back out for 2 years because she shaved about an inch off of my neck by accident, then proceeded to not show me and hide it because my hair is long and covered the mistake. When I complained to two friends they mentioned the exact same person ruined their haircuts and that they have never been back since, so it was not just a one time accident. This could be a great spot otherwise. Thanks for the embarassing hairline for the next 2 years Alicia's Hair Salon, I wont be back. You owe me a tip.

Went to Henry's. The best place for a men's cut, after two visits, I waited 2.5 hours the first time and 3 hours the second time. Ridiculous and frustrating. Found this salon and it's good. Denise cut my hair and she rivaled Henry's. Third time I came to Alicia's, they screwed up my reservation. Oh well.

Nails were not done well. Polish was shifting within a half hour. Service was long. Expensive. Manager did offer a redo which was amazing and I had not complained. Staff noticed as paying that I did not look happy. Great customer service.

Our Salon prides itself on the fact that we are well trained and seasoned Technicians. With regards to eyelash extensions, there is a protocol that we follow to assure safety and comfort for our valued clients. The first question we ask is "have you had eyelash extensions before?", "do you have any allergies? " Eyelash companies have different chemical components in their adhesives, and an allergic reaction can appear, even after asking all the correct questions. The protocol at this point is to flush the eyes with cool water, which is not damaging to the lashes that we use. We then proceed to remove the lashes using a gentle "gel" lash remover and continue flushing with water, usually at this point the problem is resolved. During the lash procedure, we constantly monitor your comfort. Our lash clientele is fairly large and all of our customers who receive lash extensions are very happy with this service that we offer. It is very rare that a client experiences a reaction to our adhesive. We replenish our adhesive every 3 months as per our supplier protocol. Our instruments are diligently disinfected and sterilized. Should you decide to use our Eyelash Extension service, you will be pleasantly surprised by the natural and wonderful look that we achieve ! We give you a mirror at the end of the service and turn up the lights and let you view your new extensions! if you tell us that you are happy, we assume at that point we have done a great job ! We don't let you leave if you are not !

I took my son for his first haircut here and had a great experience. The hairdresser, Lisa, was very patient, kind and sweet with my son. He got to sit in the little car during his haircut which I think made him feel more comfortable during the entire experience. Would recommend

Hairdresser joked about stylists lopping off half a foot of hair when asked for a trim, then proceeded to do exactly that. My hair is shorter than it's been in years now, and all I asked for was a trim of the ends. Could be because the stylist didn't actually stop long enough to look at what she was doing. Deeeefinitely not going back.

I came in to fix my hair that I had cut myself and she gave me a COMPLETELY different result than what I had wanted. I EXPLICITLY said I just wanted to fix the uneven ends and she gave me multiple layers that I did not ask for. She made it so much worse. She Didn’t listen to anything I wanted, just did what she thought was right. Vicky is an unqualified, low grade hairdresser. Vicky if you’re reading this, you destroyed my self confidence until my hair grows back

Went there for the first time today and got an acrylic fill with gel polish. Everyone that worked there were incredibly friendly. I felt very welcome. My nails turned out beautifully, I'd have to say it's the best my nails have been done in Peterborough! The technician pays very close attention to detail and does not rush at all! Missing a star as I got my hair dyed yet left the salon with much dye on my face... which I’ve never had an issue with before. Rachel was kind though didn’t clean it off therefore I had to come home like this & try to myself. Not super satisfied with that. Would definitely still come back to Alicia’s & must say I’m very appreciative of them for getting me an appointment before the next lockdown. Great salon, just thinking Rachel might’ve had an off day (we all do sometimes)! She didn’t seem too happy in my opinion doing what she’s doing, but who am I to say. Overall, happy right now with the colour & cut. Wish she would’ve styled it. Had to ask for her to straighten the front when usually most salons would style some way instead of just blow drying. It is what it is! Still grateful to get in before the holidays & support this local business. ♥️ Wishing all of you the best for the holidays. ????

I got my nails done here and I am incredibly unhappy with the results. The acrylic base itself is a different level on every nail, some being extremely raised and bumped out. The lines between my nail and cuticle are extremely uneven as well. On top of that, it is not even throughout the nail. Every single nail is bumped and ridged and are just not smooth at all. The paint job is not nice, either. The tips are not straight lines as she did it really quickly. One of my nails has a hard clump of polish on it whereas another has a spot where you can clearly see that the top coat is missing. My cuticles were not pushed down and overall it looks worse than what I could have done myself. The nail tech herself was not the most pleasant. She didn't try to make conversation and ignored everything I said. Whenever she needed another hand she would just say "switch" without any expression at all. She didn't seem to care for what she was doing. Please do not go here to get your nails done as there are so many places that you could go to get a better job and probably pay less money as well. I payed $60 for a very poor job, not to mention I was told in advance that it would only be $35. I suppose that's what I get for being a pushover when I should have just stood up for myself.

I go to Shelby to get my hair done at Alicias. She is extremely thorough and focuses on the details. I have natural black brown hair and am now working towards going fully blonde. Shelby has been very patient and sets the proper expectations and takes the time to educate you on the process. My hair is so healthy and I could not be happier with my results. I will be going back in a couple of weeks!.

I went to get my hair cut here last week, I asked for a bob. I was impressed by the look of the salon, but my good experience ended quickly. I ended up with hair that was way shorter in the front and longer in the back. It was VERY choppy and it was a very noticeable difference between the front and the back, at least an inch, inch and a half. It was awful, I was so embarrassed. I called back and told them what happened and they said they would fix it, 2 days later. I couldn't wait that long and didn't want to risk losing more hair after it was shorter than I originally wanted it to be. I went to a different salon and got it fixed. Be cautious when getting your hair done here.

a 1 star is a stretch! I went in for a root shadow/root smudge. I was assigned Vicky, who apparently has 20 years experience, but was unclear on what a root shadow was. I came out with hard lines, STRIPES and SPOTS, and Barbie bleached blonde ends with my natural dark blonde roots. I contacted the owner, she said it would be fixed and I made another appointment. I believe in second chances, BIG MISTAKE. She proceeded to KILL about 4 inches or more. It was breaking off mid shaft and completely fried. She said nothing and sent me on my way. I was never counselled on what dying my hair may do as far as damage. I am not the professional. I went to a "professional" salon for a professional to take care of my hair and DO NO HARM. that is the opposite of what I got. my hair was just below shoulder length and I had to cut it off to a layered chin length angled bob just to be able to salvage what was left, not to mention go to another reputable salon (at my cost) to repair the damage and colour correct. I contacted the owner for a refund. I paid $165 for the worst dye job in my life (even worse than when I did my own home dye jobs as a teen)and dead hair. I was not asking for a refund because I decided I didn't like the colour or the shape of the cut, I was requesting a refund because they damaged beyond repair hair that I had been growing out for over a year. The owner blamed me, saying it was already damaged (last colour was a year ago), and that she does not refund as everyone would be asking for a refund for any little reason. If you have that many people asking for a refund, you should be rethinking your staff. Take your chances with going here, you may get lucky, but if you don't get lucky you will certainly get burned. NOT RECOMMENDED.

My experience with this salon was awful. The owner is very rude and had an unupdated website until I tried to challenge it after charging me $80 for a gel nail manicure worth the original $35 that was on their website. They have now since updated their website and did not have the respect for me to even admit that they hadn’t updated their website. The appointment took 2.5 hours which is an incredible amount of time which I have never spent getting my nails done. Unfortunately the aesthetician was very kind and I feel bad that I am leaving this kind of review but it was very frustrating to receive such terrible customer service. I would never recommend this place nor would I ever go back, I was appalled at how rude the owner was to a customer and I never leave reviews but I felt this was necessary. I don’t know why I can’t attach pictures but I wish I could as this job was not worth the money I was forced to pay

I got my highlights done in March. The color didn’t even survive a month. I asked for caramel but the color I got was ash color. When I got it, I felt weird but I wasn’t sure but later I realized that it was totally wrong color highlights. I didn’t ask for blond ash color. In a month my hair started showing all blond color. I have never had a bad experience from this salon, which is why I travel over an hour just for an appointment. David does amazing work when it comes to tinting and waxing my eyebrows, which is not easy with my pale skin, and different shades of red hair, and I recommend Vickie for hair without hesitation. She is a true stylist when it comes to hair. I will continue to travel from out of town to use this salon.
