Beautiful salon with talented and friendly staff. I was greeted upon arrival and waited only a few short minutes for my stylist. From start to finish Nikki was amazing: talented, honest, hard working and kind. She took the time to listen and look at what I wanted and it made all the difference in the world. I am in love with my hair and walked out of Saab feeling more confident than I have in months. I highly recommend Nikki if you’re looking for balayage, highlights or anything long and blonde- although I’m sure she could nail any style. Visiting Saab is sure to become a regular part of my self care routine!

Ashley is the only person I trust with my eyebrows. She's the best aesthetician in the city in my opinion - makeup, nails, waxing, she can do it all. Erin is also amazing for facials! For hair, Stephen is phenomenal - he's such a sweetheart and pays close attention to detail. It is on the pricier end, but well worth it.

My friend and I had our hair did for a wedding. Our hair looked great when they were finished, mine did go a little flat as I was waiting for my friend to be done but one of the hair dressers did give me a touch up while I was waiting. However an hour later we get to the wedding and both our hairstlyes go flat. I've had my hair done at so many places and the style would last for almost 2 days! I don't blame the stylist, he did an amazing job and I was really happy with it, I even gave him a tip and thanked him numerous times but whatever hairspray they use there is complete garbage. Between the ceremony and reception I had to go home to do my hair myself and I used my own hair spray and I got my style to last til the next day! I'm sorry but we won't be returning.

I am new to ottawa and was looking for an Aveda salon and found Saab. My experience was not great. The girl that did my highlights did a good job but didn't listen the my suggestions to be gentle as I have a very sensitive scalp and fine hair. Frank (the owner) did my blow dry and cut and was very nice, but It ended up being SO expensive for an overall mediocre experience. Will not go back again.

I have been getting my hair cut there for over 15 years and I have never been disappointed. Even after I moved to the west end I will still make the trip downtown just for this place. It is more expensive than other chain haircutters but I feel you get what you pay for and Saab is worth it for me.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by their services, prices and staff, especially Danielle and Frank. Good value for my money. Their prices are not much different from other spas or salons. I will definitely go back.

I am traveling to Ottawa this weekend and based on a recommendation I booked an appointment at this salon for a wedding I am attending. I booked four appointments total (for myself, my sister and daughters). Today I received a call from their "customer service rep" saying that because I booked four appointments on a Saturday and I was not one of their "regular customers" I was required to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit via credit card immediately or my appointments would be cancelled. The lady on the phone said that they had a waiting list of people looking to book at that time and that they were a "high end salon" and this was their policy. Given that she initially said that I wasn't one of their "regular clients", it seems they made up a policy just for me! I said I needed to check with my sister and would call back and she said "I'll give you 30minutes or I am cancelling your appointments. Needless to say I cancelled my appointments and took my business elsewhere. Please avoid this salon as they are pretentious and rude. There are many other options in the area!

A truly great experience. I went for a manicure and pedicure. The spa downstairs is beautiful and very relaxing. When you arrive they offer you coffee and biscotti. They even went out to refill my parking meter so I didn't get a ticket. Everything about the experience was enjoyable.

I have had many of my personal wigs and toppers cut and coloured by Saab Salon and Spa! I love how easy it is to show Frank a photo and he recreates the look effortlessly. After they colour my alternate hair I never have any problems with the hair quality. I won’t bring my wigs any where else to be cut or coloured! I have also referred dozens of my clients to Saab with their alternative hair! True professionals when it comes to hair!

SAAB had been my choice of salon for about 6 years. I'm often unsure of what exactly I want as I don't really think about my hair often, the stylists are usually very accommodating in this respect, willing to offer their advice and opinions, but leaving the ultimate choice up to you. Not sure if they still offer tea, coffee and wine at this time, but they used to have beverages and biscotti. Pretty nice place.

I have been going to Saab Salon and Spa since they opened their doors about 25 years ago. Frank cut my hair back then and I always used to drop by for a quick neck clean up if I was going to a meeting and he never charged me. I have watched the place grow into the well-oiled machine it is today and was blown away to see his son all grown up and working there when I visited for a cut about a month ago. You get fantastic individual service there, great coffee or cappuccino with biscotti and an excellent haircut, but that's not all. Being an Aveda Salon, they give the extra service of that fantastic hair wash with face massage. I used to go there just for that itself, it is so wonderful. I even ask for it before I get a cut an after. Frank has made his business and brand a great success, offers a service which is worth the price and keeps his repeat customer base because of the way that the customers are treated.

This place is too expensive; however, this salon used to be my routine place for hair cuts as they are very good and I used to get a graduated bob, which is a tricky cut. All hair washers give a scalp and neck massage, some were great at it, others were not. I have switched to the Loft as I have found a stylist there who is amazing at doing natural-looking blond highlights and the cuts there are cheaper than at Saab.

I loved that I could book last minute for a senior stylist, the haircut was great quality, the service and staff welcoming and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. Have been going here because of the Aveda product line but have been disappointed the last few times I've gone - I haven't been happy with the cuts and no one notices the colour, which is really frustrating given how much they charge. There is no breakdown of price offered and it's ridiculously expensive compared to other places for the exact same thing - almost 400$ to do my roots, apply toner, and a trim! I had something different done last time and somehow it was the same price, it makes no sense how they come up with the charges. Will be trying a new salon next time.

I have been going for several years now and have consistently received friendly greetings and a tea and biscotti upon arriving. The staff certainly enjoy talking about Aveda products and medicures and pedicures are done well. I had one particular hair stylist, Kaitlyn, who had the challenge of figuring out and teaching me a way to style my bangs. I have always had thinning bangs (it's hereditary), and after having children I lost even more of my bangs. She found way to style what little bangs I had into something flattering, and now I no longer feel embarrassed about bald spots.

I had the Aveda straightening/anti-friz treatment done in January 2012. It was over 500. for my just to the shoulder length hair. What a waste of money. I moved to Australia the following week and my hair was just as frizzy as it would be without a treatment. I had had 2 keratin treatments done in Ottawa prior to Saab and since I've been in Australia I've had 2 different keratin treatments. They have all worked well, except the Saab treatment. None of the keratin treatments that worked had formaldehyde in them. I am allergic to it and I know from using nail polish with form. in it that my eyes swell up if I'm exposed to it. Do not waste your money on their keratin treatment!

I have naturally brown hair and recently went blonde. I have been going to Saab for a few months now and wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. Out of all the places I have gone too this is by far the best especially when you like to transition from brown to blonde and vice versa. The staff is amazing and really make you feel comfortable and know what they're doing!

The extensions matched perfectly to my colour and Stephen did a great job blending the extensions in with my real hair. I can't go without these extensions ever again. Do NOT get the microblading done here. I went in for microblading in december 2019. My left one faded right away even tho I did everything and then some to protect it. I went back for a touch up that cost me another 300 and they lasted 2 more months then completely faded. I just booked a place in vancouver to get them completely redone. Really horrible and expensive experience. The staff are all very nice, but the treatment, cost and quality were just not there.

I was really disappointed with my whole experience at Saab. I got a haircut and blow dry. My appointment started late and then just felt very rushed. I was surprised when the girl told me I was done as my hair had not been nicely smoothed out and was kinky on one side. My hair was matted and I couldn't even run my fingers through it. I got home and had to wash my hair as it had way too much oil product in it. My overall haircut and experience was NOT worth the money I paid. I paid top dollar for very poor service. I would never go back or recommend this salon to anyone. After telling some friends about my experience they shared similar experiences and told me they don't go there anymore either.

Best haircut experience I have EVER had (as a guy). I have been twice and both times I feel like royalty. Great atmosphere, great front desk, great hair products. I saw Harley and wow great haircuts both times. Best part is she gave me detailed tips how to recreate the style so I can have that “post haircut” style daily! Amazing staff, highly recommend for anyone looking for a 11/10 male haircut.

Incredible salon. After leaving Montreal, I tried many salons to maintain and increase my blonde balyage, but was left with extremely damaged hair...until SAAB. I thought about going back to brunette, due to how badly another popular salon in Ottawa butchered my hair , but since seeing Jordan, that has never happened again. Will be going back shortly for an update on my balyage... also they have wine...need i say more?

The absolute best for GreatLengths extensions. I’m not at all new to GreatLengths hair extensions. I’ve been getting them for years, reapplying every 6 months, but this was my first application with Frank of Saab Salon Spa. He is excellent. The very best. The longtime stylist I’d been going to for GreatLengths before moving to Ottawa was decent, and I didn’t know any better existed, so I stuck with her until I moved. My most recent application, which was my first attempt at finding a new stylist in Ottawa prior to coming to Saab, was terrible. The stylist did not install them correctly and they started falling out days after getting them done. It was not a pleasant experience, and I ended up contacting GreatLengths to get the issue resolved. The stylist was retrained and re-installed my extensions but I certainly wasn’t going back for my next installation. The person I contacted at GreatLengths recommended Frank, and now I know why. In all my years of getting GreatLengths they have never looked this good. He is very experienced and exceptional at what he does. I highly recommend! I’m very happy with my new hair. I went to Saab a couple of weeks ago for an express pedicure. I really enjoyed the experience. The beautician was very friendly & professional. The spa itself downstairs was very well set up & I like that they use the Aveda product line. I didn't feel rushed at all despite it being an 'express' treatment; I was in there for around 45-50 mins in total. Some of the treatments seem quite expensive but if they use good quality products it is worth it, maybe for a treat. I would go back for other treatments.

WOW!! Stephen does an incredible job!! I have never felt so gorgeous after getting my hair done! I went in not knowing what I wanted for colour/cut, but Stephen was able to pick out the perfect look for me. You will absolutely leave this salon feeling like a million dollars. I wish I could give zero stars, over priced, unprofessional, the Owner Frank is the worst person alive. He cares little for his customers and even less for his employees. I would not recommend this place for anyone. Go somewhere else. went in for a simple trim frank took way to much off and when I told him I was happy with it he told me to spend the money for the extensions. Nice try buddy I'm not giving you any more of my money.

My last three visits have been so rushed- in less than 20 minutes my hair is washed, cut and I am out the door-and I don't have short hair. The last two visits my stylist did not listen to what side I part my hair on ( and she did it on the wrong side) and most recently I asked for a trim ( curly hair-a little goes a long way with respect to the bounce up) and I got a cut- much more than I wanted. I was clearly upset with the shorter cut than asked for/expected this week and my stylist didn't say she was sorry or anything-she just handed me my coat. I really miss Vanessa-she was so nice and always did an amazing job.

For over $50 just for a pedicure you would expect to have excellent service, but Saab defies expectations. While the ladies doing the pedicure were lovely the owner's wife was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with. We had trouble finding a referral code in their system and instead of being helpful she ended up yelling at us and blaming the management right in front of us. All round unprofessional. I will definitely not be going back and I'd advise others to go elsewhere, unless you enjoy being yelled at.

The absolute only downside of this salon is that it's a little pricey, but it's true what they say -- you get what you pay for. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, the staff is lovely, and their skills are excellent. I've always had awkward, unruly hair, and have had nothing but terrible luck with salons/haircuts, but Jordan at SABB finally broke that streak. I'll be going back for sure.

I have been going to Saab salon for many years and have always received excellent service. No other salon I have been to is as friendly and professional as theirs. Nina and Frank have created a cozy, personable atmosphere and I almost feel like one of the family. Steve has been my wonderful stylist for about 3 years. Once I arrived about 2 hours early by mistake and they calmly fit me in for my haircut without even telling me of my mistake! I highly recommend this salon.

Wonderful place ! Very friendly staff. Visited Saab Salon Spa for a balayage and cut. First off, during the COVID times, I felt really safe with all the precautions required. Frank and his team are awesome and professional. I get my hair done by Jessie. The haircut I got was beautiful and nice. My balayage is done by Frank, and it is really perfect. Highly recommend!

I've been going to Saab for about 7 years now and lately I haven't been impressed. The prices are always up and the service standards are definitely down. You used to get a nice greeting when you enter and someone always offered you a beverage and sometimes even a hand massage...I haven't seen this in years. Some of the girls are great and really know what they are doing but others not so much. I tried to book an appointment within the next week and instead have to wait for three weeks after I want it and the time is not all that convienent. In the meantime I tried to get a bang trim to hold me over until my appointment but was refused the service because the salon was holding a private event on a Saturday afternoon. If you are looking for a good cut with a hefty price tag and lots of inconvience this place is for you!

I had the most amazing experience at saab salon and have only great things to say. For years I have struggled to complement my natural blonde hair and attain the perfect tone, and Frank nailed it on my first visit. It was also my first experience with hair extensions and I absolutely love them! Also, when I needed a highlight touch up last minute, Frank not only fit me in, but arranged it around my busy schedule! He and everyone who works there are so so nice. Plus, if that wasn’t enough, they use Aveda products which are the best! I highly recommend this salon!!

I had the misfortune of visiting the salon based on the quantity of reviews this salon has.I saw a hairdresser named Jesse and was told upon booking my appointment that she was a senior "experienced" hair stylist. Unfortunately, that was a mistake because coming out of the salon, my hair was a DISASTER. Here's a quick summary: I went in asking for a set of partial highlights, I came out with the top of my hair fried and the bottom with a different brassy orange looking color, 1. She managed to highlight both and fried the top, and left bottom brassy orange (Because they close at 8 and couldn't be bothered to fix her mistake. 2. She couldn't be bothered to apply the same toner color to the bottom part of my hair. 3. The owner Frank suggested that I should invest in their fusion extensions as a solution to the disaster his employee caused. Yeah. I don't think so buddy. Overall, worst experience at a hair salon, will never set foot at that hair salon again.

I went in as a walk in client for waxing. I think my service was done by Ashley. She was really rough and in the end of the service I had red puffy blotches on my lip and eyes. More red than usual. They usually will use cover up on you for no additional cost, but she covered my whole face not using the right color. After the service she suggested I try the candies in the front. She also whispered something in the ear of the person who rang up my bill and I was overcharged!!!

This place really needs to change the way they hire people, went in for a professional hair cut and ended up with someone who rush through the appointment and didn't care what the outcome was they need to slow down and be more professional, the person I had told me they worked there for over a year. I also over heard the owner talking to his employees and he talked down to every one of them he by far was the most unprofessional of them all avoid this place if care what your hair looks like.

I came in to Saab last week . I booked an appointment with Melanie, for a cut , and was extremely happy with her . She was extremely helpful and she listened to what I wanted. She gave me ideas of what would look good on me and we did it . She didn't push products on me but simply showed and explained the products I should be using . That made me want to buy them and not feel forced. I have been to Saab before and have felt pressured to buy everything and it turned me off the salon . I really enjoyed my experience with her and I will be back soon . By my newest experience at Saab I will be recommending all my friends to come see Melanie . One of the best decisions I made for my hair in the last 5 years was to go see Stephen at SAAB Salon. I had not seen a stylist in almost 5 years due to always getting a cut I didn't really want or like. My hair is fine and wavy, so years of flat iron and coloring had fried it which led to a decision, 5 years ago, to no longer color nor flat iron, not even blow dry my hair ever again. I really wanted to get back to healthy, normal hair. Following an unfortunate hair loss episode (caused by contraceptives) my hair just never got back to a satisfactory condition. I was tired of seeing my lackluster and boring hair every single time I looked in the mirror. So, with that as background, I researched Ottawa hairstylists and found Stephen on a curated website. I took a chance, went in to see him for a balayage, but walked out with a newfound love for my hair. Stephen patiently talked with me before we did anything to my hair in order to understand what I wanted and didn't want. He was genuine, friendly and always professional. More importantly, the guy's got mad hair skills. The color he gave me is simply to-die-for and every single person who has seen me since has had extreme reactions, positive ones, of course! Stephen also patiently demonstrated and explained (without pressure) how a few extensions would enhance my hair so I went for it and I absolutely love it. I had tried extensions once in the past but had hated how they felt. This time, I can't even feel them in any way. Even touching my head over the hair, it's as though the bonds aren't there and there is absolutely no tugging whatsoever on my scalp. A completely different and such better experience of hair extensions. I was so hesitant to go back to a salon (I had been cutting my hair with the kitchen scissors for years) and so hesitant to get a bad balayage, but Stephen exceeded my expectations tenfold. The complete look, color + extensions and cut looks absolutely gorgeous. Essentially, my "best hair fantasy" picture is what I walked out with. I simply couldn't believe it when I saw the final "product". Stephen is the bomb. Seriously. This stylist should have lineups of people waiting to have their hair beautified. Stephen is so on-point with current hair trends and he executes it perfectly. All the while he does it with an approachable, genuine and trusting personality (something that really helps when you're nervous about having your hair cut/colored). Post-appointment support has also been superb - Stephen gave me thoughtful advice (without being too pushy for sales) on how to maintain the new look and I've already gone back to see him for more tips. You can tell he actually cares about making sure his clients are 100% satisfied, but also he actually cares about making your hair look as beautiful as it can and trust me, Stephen can take your hair to a whole other level. A ++++++ for this stylist and the service at the salon is just as fantastic (Frank, front of house staff, assistants).

I made an emergency appointment and went in with severely heat and dye damaged hair and he was able to trim and tidy without loosing too much of my well worked for length. This is the second facial I have had at SAAB. Justine (esthetician) is excellent. Unfortunately the owner is not. My husband and I were told at the first visit we could combine gift cards I had (totalling $100). They refused to do so on my second visit, despite the owner, his son and another lady confirming that we could. In addition, for the one $50 gift card I was "allowed" to use, they only credited me $25! Very very poor customer service. Sadly Justine is very good but not the salon she works for. Hence only 3 stars - there are tons of salons that are Aveda and in Orleans. Not worth the trip to Bank Street.

They stylists do an amazing job, thanks so much for the colour and cut (been 3 times). Instead of fixing or toning an old style, let them give you a makeover, they'll do a much better job. This place is pricey, I won't recommend this salon to someone on a budget, and it is out of my price range too - I will have to find a new salon with lower prices.

Most often, I allow them to make the final decision regarding hair style or nail colour, for example, because I know that if they make me look good, I become an ambassador for their store. Full disclosure: I have been a client of Frank Saab for over twenty years. However, this is the first time I have written a review. In all that time, nothing has changed. The salon and all the staff (both in the hair salon and in the Spa) are wonderful. Here's a synopsis of my every 6-weeks hair appointment. As I enter the salon, I am greeted, my coat is hung up, and I am offered a selection of beverages. Water is always available. A record of every product purchase and hair service that I've enjoyed has been kept on file so, as I browse the Aveda shelves, often a staff member, knowing the products I've used, will introduce complementary products that have recently been released. My hair treatment with Frank is always honest; he asks me what style I'd like and, if he feels there are any issues with my explanation, he will recommend a slightly different approach. I am a senior citizen with all the hair issues aging presents; Frank's advice is always welcome. The staff who are responsible for shampooing start the process with a wonderful neck massage with Aveda essential oils. A full head massage accompanies the conditioner that is applied. When I pay, I am always asked if I would like to book the next appointment. Also, at that time, I can ask the receptionist to distribute any gratuity that I feel is merited (honestly, I have never had any reason NOT to leave a tip at this salon)
