I went to Modern when I was 19 and still going strong. My teachers were some of the greatest I could have asked for... I learnt a lot in the 10 months I was there and later returned to receive my certificate for nail technician.. Not sure if it's the Larouche family who still owns it but they were all great teachers.. Thank you for providing me with the confidence I needed to exceed in my profession

My granddaughter is training to become a hairstylist out west, so I thought I’d try the hair college in town to support the trade. While the students were very nice, they seemed to be more help to each other than an instructor, as I didn’t see one around. I ask them how they were enjoying the course and what their plans were afterwards. It seems to me these students have been left to their own devices with not much more than a text book. Made me feel a little wary of being a client (but it turned out fine). Eventually a dark haired lady was standing by the entrance on her phone and I was advised that that was their instructor. I couldn’t believe it. Perhaps I’m just too old school, but how rude and unprofessional for an instructor. I wouldn’t even say she was an observer. I spoke to my granddaughter afterwards and asked her about her instruction, sounds quite different. I really felt for all the students paying for an education and seemingly being let down, and that’s what pushed me to write this review.

I went here for a cut a dye because it was easy to book an appointment for a few days later. When I presented a picture of what I wanted, I was told it wasn’t achievable. This should have been my first red flag to leave. The teachers hardly came around to check the students progress. After being there for 6.5 hours I left with a terrible dye and cut job. It cost me $113 after they redid the dye job 3 times. I will never step foot in this establishment again, unless they want to refund me. I have never been so upset about my hair.
