Katie P is the best! Great location. It is nice to be in a salon that is spacious. I normally feel so cramped at a salon where there is little space between all the stylists, but not here. Have to say it twice, Katie P is the best. Always feel great leaving her. She never cuts or styles out of sync with your look. She really gets it. She also talks to you through the whole experience so that you know what is happening and accommodates confirms that everything is going as YOU planned it, not how she sees it. She also explains things so that you can get the most out of your cut/style after you leave the salon.

I have very thin hair and have never successfully had a curl stick both from other professionals or from personal experience. Any other time I had tried a formal hairstyle that was worn down it had to be switched to an updo just based on my hair not cooperating. However Katie not only managed to curl my hair but it stayed in the whole night until I showered early in the morning. I can't say how blown away I was not just but Katie but the whole team. The studio is clean and so open it's refreshing to visit. They have their spa services sectioned on the other side of the building rather than the back room from the salon (the typical salon setup since they are usually only a small room in size) so if you get a massage you won't hear the people getting their hair done. This is amazing since it lets the whole place have a great atmosphere. I did not personally use their spa services but the set up is worth noting. These guys are definitely a hidden gem in Penetang and I'd highly recommend them for any services you'd need. Don't be fooled by their competitive prices because the people who work there are pros and the studio is gorgeous.

I had probably my worst hair experience ever here and wouldn't recommend Hair Matrix. I came in to book for a fashion color - I showed up and saw the stylist before booking the appointment. I showed her photos of what I wanted - she was excited about it and booked me in. The first appointment the colour didn't take. I was left with dark purple roots and weird yellowish hair that I wore up for a week. I had to pay for the complete service but was told that she would fix it for free the following week. When I went back we proceed everything again - using a different product and it failed again. This time I had muddy dark brown roots and muddy grey toned hair with patches of brown left in it. At this point she proposed that we do an all over darker purple color as a final fix which I agree to because it would be better than what I saw in the mirror. We did this process and while the color did take better than before there are still sections of it that look brown. The lightened ends look muddy and it's not AT ALL what I wanted. Not to mention the fact that I ended up having to pay for the service again after the second appointment. So - 10 hours and $400 later I'm left with hair nothing like what I originally wanted and a colour that I'll have to let fade out over multiple months before going to someone else to colour correct and fix.

The girls are always very friendly and the new salon is just so beautiful. I love Melissa's work because I always get so many compliments when she does my hair. She's the best hairdresser in Penetang and I wouldn't go anywhere else. 5 stars for sure!
