Going to Serenity for years and always had a great experience. However, with the business change I learned I was no longer able to use my gift card after September 30th. The few appointments I had before this date there was no verbal mention, nothing posted in the window, even the automated phone message failed to mention a Serenity Spa gift card would no longer be valid. There’s no effort to work with clients to allow them to use their gift cards. Will not be returning.

I brought my mother here for a mani-pedi last year and have also been for a massage once last year. The massage was awkward as the massage therapist started telling me about personal things about her family that were a bit awkward and unprofessional. I didn't complain as she seemed nice and I didn't want her to get in trouble. When my mom and I arrived for the mani-pedi the receptionist was wearing a TON of heavy perfume, which almost made my mom feel sick and I wasn't sure if we would be able to stay for our appointment. She was also not friendly and kind of rude, she didn't seem to care that her perfume was making my mom gag and she had to leave the room. It's not a terrible spa, but also not my favourite spa experience by a long shot. I will likely not go back because of these experiences, even though the other staff were professional and the mani-pedi itself was nice.

I have been colouring my hair for 6 years with the same product and formula and am very specific about my hair because I love it. While staying in Kingston I needed my hair done so I looked on line for salons that used Goldwell products. I looked on Serenity Spa's website and under services for hair it says we proudly use Goldwell products in our salon with a photo of the logo. I booked my appointment and when I arrived they informed me they had changed products and didn't use it anymore. The stylist seemed confused about whether she could even match the colour. First she said as long as I had no allergies it was fine, then said if ive been using a different product for a while it might not turn out right. Frustrated and worried my hair would end up the complete wrong colour. I was very disappointed with the inconsistency on the website and lack of knowledge they seemed to have. Would not recommend going here unless you are willing to take a gamble. I wasnt, overall this took up a huge chunk of my day with commuting and waiting, all to walk out with my roots still grown in.

I had my first LED LIGHT THERAPY for anti-Aging, with Angela at Symphony Spa and Yoga. Angela was absolutely amazing. She took time to analyze my skin and asked questions about my cleansing routine and what products I was currently using. Angela is very knowledgeable on all the products used at the spa, and knows exactly what each product helps with. She asked, what results I wanted to see, then she explained the number of treatments needed for me to achieve those results. Then, Angela gave me an amazing facial cleanse with the perfect touch followed by the LED Light Therapy (Infrared light) Because Angela is a registered reflexologist she gave me an incredible relaxing foot massage during the treatment. I was so relaxed, I actually fell asleep. I highly recommend Angela and her LED Light therapy panel, that contours around your face for anti-aging. And for those who have acne prone skin, ask for Angela’s Blue Light therapy.

I had, at best, a mediocre experience at this spa. I was in Kingston on a holiday weekend and the manicurist couldn't stop talking about how she didn't want to be there, and couldn't wait to get home to her family. I had booked a half day at the spa, so this wasn't really a promising start. I chose a fairly dark color for my finger nails, and when she starting using it I noticed it was quite thick. I asked if I should choose another color but she said it was fine.The manicurist got nail polish on my cuticles and on my fingers. I asked her to please remove it, and she at first did, but then stopped. My pedicure was moderately better, with the staff member at least behaving professionally. I also had my hair blown out in the salon but at this point I just wanted to leave. Given the price, and the they way they advertise themselves, I was shocked to have this type of service. No one seemed bothered that I was unhappy with my experience, despite my showing them my manicure and asking for someone to please at least neaten it up. I asked my husband to stop by Shoppers for nail polish remover, so I could remove all the staining on my fingers, and ended up just removing the nail polish completely. I've had far better manicure/pedicures in little shops that charge 35 dollars for both, and have zero atmosphere, than at this so called "spa". I will never go back, and won't recommend it.

Went to a haircut at the Spa several times and it was really good. The hairdresser knew exactly what i wanted for my hairstyle and gave lots of good suggestions. Besides that, I have tried registered massage and they are professional. the staffs there are friendly. The price is also reasonable They have nice coffee room which offers desert and drinks

This review is divided into two, because sadly inside the massage room, and in the rest of the spa were TOTALLY different experiences.I took my wife this weekend as a surprise anniversary gift. I had booked the time weeks in advance and was told to arrive ten minutes early to meet the girls who would be doing our massage and go over the fine points. half an hour after our massage was supposed to begin, we still had not been seen, and were left sitting there with no apologies what so ever. Just as we walked out and told them we were just going to leave, all of a sudden they had a room ready for us, still with no apologies what so ever. However, once we got into the room, the two girls we had doing our massages were great. they were friendly and talkative, the one doing my wifes massage was soft and tender as she needed, while the one doing mine was not afraid to go as hard as was needed to give me what i needed and we left the room feeling relaxed. Sadly after we left the room, it was back to the rudeness of the front desk people, and being given attitude by people who were clearly more regulars than us the Cafe people refused to even give us our champagne saying it was not in our package. Overall, great experience in the massage room, poor rude and dissapointing experience in the rest of the spa.

I'm very disappointed. My husband bought me a gift certificate for the day spa (any 4 specialty treatments and up to 7hrs imagine how pricey that was) for our anniversary. I've never been to the spa like so many others and I've never had anyone think of doing something like this for me. He made the appointment for me for tomorrow and today we received a call back to say that the appointment would have to be cancelled because they didn't have enough people. Apparently for the day spa they need 3 people. So instead of asking my husband what it was that I wanted to have done and try to accommodate, they just flat out cancelled. If they had bothered to ask they would have known that I only wanted a cut/style/color and a back massage. I had even planned to get gift certificates for my daughters for Christmas to have a nice sisters day together...now they've lost customers and gained a bad review. I certainly hope they refund the GC. But I am certainly happy to say that I got an appointment last minute, elsewhere, for my hair to be done and my husband and I will go somewhere else for a couples massage :)

This was my first time at Symphony Spa and Yoga and I was far from disappointed with the service I received from Kayla in the hair studio. She cut and coloured my hair just the way I had wanted it to look. The place was clean and maintained, very friendly front desk that made me feel very welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. May I suggest quieter/more efficient massage oil dispensers as the sound was distracting as there were 2 people using it in the one space. But not that or the emergency vehicle sirens could take away from the excellent massages.

He was so amazing with making sure my hair wasn't taking more damage than needed and made it feel and look so healthy! Normally I would rank this as a 5, but not this time. Had my back waxed, usually the esthetician leaves, and waits until you acknowledge you're ready before entering. Didn't happen, stood there waiting for me to take my shirt off. Whatever, it's just a shirt, and I'm a dude, no big deal, but not what I'm used to. Starts working on me, she tries to engage in small talk, and asks if I'm going to the beach. I say yes, she asks which one, and I tell her a local one. She scoffed and replied "that's not a real beach, that's a lake" ooook? She continues to trek me there are no beaches around here. I mention Sandbanks, she replies with "it's not a real beach, it's a lake". Like, really? Why the hell are YOU engaging in a conversation which you chose the topic of, if your only intention is to argue with your client? Good luck racking in the tips!

I visited the spa yesterday to get my makeup done for graduation photos. Kayla was friendly, worked quickly, and is clearly very knowledgeable about her craft. She did airbrush makeup for my foundation, so it looked flawless in the photos, and a subtle rusty-red eyeshadow. Looked beautiful and I felt like a princess. Will definitely be coming here again.

My partner and I have had a few “couple massages” at different locations but this one far exceeded our expectations. Staff are friendly and massages were done to our liking (time taken, preference on how much pressure etc). The room was lovely with the fireplace and background music. We were instantly relaxed. I really rate this experience a 2.5. The atmosphere was ok and the staff were friendly. The pedicure, however, was nothing spectacular. I booked a Pedicure Ritual and ParaffinTreatment for my husband and I, but I didn't even know what I was booking because there are no descriptions on the website. It was basically a regular pedicure that included a scrub and massage (though my husband's massage was more of a quick rub) as well as the paraffin. It also seemed as though the girl who did my toes (while very nice) didn't really know how to put nail polish on (start in the middle and work your way out). No one confirmed what we were getting when we got there. I just notices after looking further that there were men-specific pedicures. I feel as though someone should have said something and guided us to the correct service. But because I booked the most expensive service, no one said anything. I am disappointed. The pedicure area was also very uncomfortable and we both left with a sore back. I'm quite dissatisfied with our service and I'm upset we spent as much as we did. It was nearly $200 (with a glass of wine and very expensive smoothie)... what we got was not worth $200. If we ever visit Kingston again, we won't be going back to Symphony.

The spa itself (esp. the waiting area and café) is super cute, clean, and tranquil with lots of natural light. The staff are also all very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! I love that the spa offers such a wide variety of services and I find the quality excellent and consistent across the board. Facials are so relaxing (shout-out to Darian for painless extractions) and my skin looks and feels so much more glowy and rested after. Treating myself to wellness weekends at Symphony is a highlight of my month and I'd def recommend to anyone looking to treat themselves to high-quality services with friendly, professional staff in a beautiful place. :)

I booked an appointment for a haircut and eyebrow wax - I was supposed to get the haircut first and then the eyebrow wax. I came a few minutes early and waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes. Finally, someone came in and led to get the eyebrow wax. I was confused as I was supposed to get the haircut first, but I thought it wasn't a big deal. The eyebrow lady was excellent and SO nice and wonderful. I was happy after my eyebrow wax and ready to get my haircut. The hairstylist came up to me and informed that she could not "accommodate" me because I "booked two things at the same time" and at that point she had another client that she needed to see. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing because the hairstylist made it seem like it was my fault?? She asked if I wanted to reschedule and of course I said no. I was on time, the hairstylist was late, and I was blamed for their inability to schedule their clients. It wasn't even a busy day. Really disappointed.

I have visited Serenity several times in the past and have always been satisfied with the service. However, my last visit was truly bizarre; I debated trying to escape in the middle of my hair appointment. Beginning with a slight language barrier and my stylist talking about having learned everything from Pinterest and Youtube, I questioned from the start whether she had any formal training. She went on to fumble with the towel and clips, hesitate for long periods of time before cutting or combing, and did not have professional equipment. I actually started to think I was being pranked. Lastly, when she tried to show me the back of my hair after the cut, she didn't know how to hold the mirror and I saw nothing. Thankfully my hair did not suffer incredibly, but there was no styling involved and I raced out of their in disbelief. Like I said, I have had good experiences in the past here, but their employees seem to vary widely in their expertise and training and don't measure up to a consistent standard.

I booked a spa day for my daughter, my daughter-in-law and myself on April 1st. I booked and paid for massages, pedicures and manicures to the tune of $565.00 not including tip. We left the spa and went immediately to a restaurant for dinner and my daughter-in/laws nail polish was peeling off. That was only a fraction of all that was wrong as both my manicure and pedicure were beyond a mess, not surprising given none of us even saw anything that resembled a dryer on our hands and feet. I took pictures of the "messes" and sent them to the Spa first thing Monday morning and requested a refund of part of what I paid. I was told a refund could not be authorized but they would send me a gift certificate. I received the certificate but realized after this absolutely horrible experience why in the name of heaven would I want to go back there. I wrote a letter and included a copy of the certificate and said I did not wish to return to their establishment, would return the certificate and wanted a refund. To date, I have not received a response and I advised them I would take to social media if they did not have the common decency to respond. That letter was mailed 7 weeks ago so I am following through with what I said I was going to do. I am a legal assistant and also advised I will definitely proceed to obtain a refund through proper legal channels. I hope to post photos in the comments of this thread . I share this story so you are aware of what could happen should you book at Serenity Spa.

Had a lady names Holy do my lashes a few weeks ago. They were horrible. They were not that full and after a few days they hurt. I never had lashes hurt before so i want to another place, and the girl explained that my lashes were glues together, causing them to get pulled out. My daughter had a bad experience at another salon. She had shown a picture of the light blonde she wanted and ended up with orange hair. Although they offered to “try” to fix it with some highlights, for a charge, we just didn’t trust them. She had gotten her hair done by a girl named Kayla for her Grade 8 graduation and she was really happy with it and LOVED Kayla. We found out that Kayla had changed jobs and now worked at Symphony Spa. We try to avoid going downtown but this was important and we wanted her hair done right! Kayla was able to book her an appointment in a couple of days to make sure she got the student discount. Kayla spent 5 HOURS with my daughter and dedicated all her time to her to make things right. I was there for the last 2 of the 5 hours with them and Kayla meticulously took care of her hair. Not only did she get rid of the orange, she made her hair look like the picture of what she wanted and made my daughter extremely happy! Kayla is truly an artist! Super friendly, professional and dedicated to making her clients very happy! There is no doubt we will be making the trip downtown for all our hair appointments from now on.

Although, the girl who did my shellac nails and lashes did not seem to know what she was doing, hurt my fingers multiple times, and moves insanely slow. My shellac nails lasted only A WEEK when they normally stay on me for about a month, and my lashes also stayed with my for five days only. Not impressed at all... such a waste of money! I had eyelash extensions done here two weeks ago. The first day I had them done they looked beautiful. Day by day more and more of the extensions were falling off without my actual lash attached, meaning that they were falling off because of the glue used and not because the natural lash was naturally coming out and shedding. Two weeks later I have one or two extension left on each eye. They look beautiful at first but are 100% not long lasting. I have had extensions done at other places in Ottawa and they have lasted around 3-4 weeks, sad to say I won’t be back.

I went for a Brazilian, and somehow got a tour of the spa. I felt gross just walking through it. The rooms upstairs were terribly outdated, and the reception area was cold. They sat me in a cafe area and told me to have whatever I wanted (nice) only the area was playing ridiculous classical cd that kept skipping. I then waited as they called two other people for my appointment (25 minutes late now) and then my aesthetician explained the girl before me had the same name and she took her instead. My service was fine only the after effects were terrible. As someone who waxes regularly I've never broken out quite as bad as that. Needless to say I won't be back.

I had treated myself and my niece to a spa day years ago at Serenity Spa. After reading the reviews, I can see they haven't changed much in attitude. My first experience at a spa was Serenity. After which, I wondered if people just accept feeling like it was more like a clinic, why make us wait half an hour in a waiting room. Isn't it suppose to make you feel pampered? People there treat you like an obligation making the experience cold. no kindness, eye contact reflected indifference. even the desk people were snooty. Staff took and hung up my jacket and while I was in the spa that jacket was stolen. It was in the middle of winter and I had no jacket to wear home and the staff and owner were beyond unhelpful. They would not review any security cameras for me (it was an expensive coat) and offered no recourse or help in recovering the item/accommodating for the loss. After following up they became very rude and dismissive. If you go here do not let them take your things to hang up/put away- they will not be accountable and do not have an adequate enough process in place to ensure that theft does not happen (at the time they did not have any such disclaimer). If you ever have an issue of substance rest assured you will be met with poor customer service.

Myself and a guest were in for 6 hours each which was for services and a meal. The services ranged from very good to exceptional and I would recommend any of hairdressing, facials, body wraps, pedicures, and massage. The staff were all excellent. They were eager to please and friendly. The only place this fall short is if you're looking for a true Day Spa experience. We were given robes but they were practically see through and not warm at all. The slippers provided are hard plastic. The transition between services felt like we were going from appointment to appointment rather than being in a spa with the luxurious and pampering feel. I also would not recommend eating here. We ordered when we first got there because they cater the food. When we ask what the special was we were told there was none. Out of the 3 remaining items I ordered a soup and sandwich and when I sat down to eat received fruit and cheese being told they were out of everything. Being starving was not the most lovely feeling for the last 2 hours. I would highly recommend going back here as long as you know where the shortfalls are. One last quick comment, this is an old house and it is drafty so wear warm socks.

My friend and I had massages here a couple weeks ago. It was quite dirty throughout (the bathroom especially), and we could hear the estheticans gossiping excitedly as we waited for our massages which didn't make for a relaxing vibe. Massage was just okay, pressure was too gentle and I didn't want to ask for anything firmer as the esthetican complained of her hands hurting. Our juices took almost 10 minutes to be ready. I feel a bit bad complaining because I can't imagine how difficult it must be getting through this pandemic but I definitely won't be back again. I felt a bit embarrassed bringing my friend here too as we could have had a higher quality experience for the money.

I have never had such a terrible chin/face wax in my life. The wax was too hot and I told her several times. I have had my chin waxed for 22 years and have never broken out like this. My face is still sore and it has been over 24 hours. I touched my face once I got in the car and my finger stuck to my face. She did not apply any soothing lotion afterwards or use a headband to protect my hair. Please do not go to this establishment for waxing.

Waste of time, I had made arrangements with the Manager to get a custom quote created for services that would have regularly costed over ten thousand dollars. They told me for anything above the standard 20% off package they would need a personalized consult. I booked a consult during regular work hours believing they would act in good faith and were willing to compete with other spas, however upon arriving not only did I find out they had no intentions of ever going above the 20% off but they made me feel uncomfortable by questioning why I wanted services and by attempting to sell me.

I had the worst waxing experience of my life at Serenity Spa. They used strip wax, which I didn't think anyone did anymore, so it was very painful, ripped my skin twice, and was red and very sore for a few hours afterward as well. The wax mostly ripped the hairs rather than waxing them, so the regrowth was patchy with lots of ingrowns (which I usually never get). Could not have been more disappointed.

I was very disappointed with my experience today at Serenity Spa. I had booked an appointment weeks in advance for myself and my Mom as a birthday gift for both of us. My Mom was getting a short eye treatment, and I had booked micro-pigmentation on my eyebrows, which I had been waiting to get for weeks. Most of the purpose of the trip for me, and the most time consuming part, was the micro-pigmentation. When we arrived, we were told that the person who does the micro-pigmentation was off sick and therefore I could not have the procedure done. This was of course disappointing because of the anticipation leading up to this trip, but also because we felt no reason to go through with the other things we had booked since I would have been basically sitting there waiting for my Mom the whole time, and it wouldn't have been as fun for either. I understand that the person was off sick, and I don't hold that against anyone, but they actually told me at the salon that she got sick last night, therefore indicating that they new all morning that she wasn't coming in, and never bothered calling to tell me. The person we spoke to when we got there seemed very unapologetic, and offered no compensation whatsoever, even when we told her it was our birthday and we drove an hour to get there. And not only did we drive an hour to get there, but going to the salon was supposed to be the highlight of our trip and it was the opposite. The total bill would have been around $500.00 at least, but that did not seem important to them. We walked out the door with absolutely no attempt from them to retain us as customers. I had friends who were waiting on my recommendation to go to here to get the same procedure done, and they were waiting on my experience to determine if this is the right place to go. I will not be recommending Serenity Spa, in fact it will be quite the opposite. I have no interest in rescheduling with them due to their lack of customer service.

Serenity Spa is fantastic! Being 6 months pregnant with twins it was one of the best pedicures I've ever had! I highly recommend checking this place out! The staff is well educated in the dos/donts of pregnant clients and it was definitely a sigh of relief to know that! Go check them out!!!!

I am a returning customer and highly recommend going to see Stefanie Cross at Serenity Spa as she is outstanding. I have had numerous appointments with Stefanie to do various colouring and cuts, and she is very professional and always stuns me with her amazing work. I highly recommend going to see Stefanie if you are looking for an amazing cut and/or colour. My hair always feels so much healthier and looks fantastic when I leave.

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!! Friendly, attentive staff. Wonderful revitalization of the space so far - crisp, clean, modern. Phillip and Melanie are doing a lovely job in polishing this jewel together as a fantastic team--truly an asset to Kingston's business community. HIGHLY recommend a wax with Arza; hers is an expert technique I travel from Toronto for; such a phenomenal woman, lovely personality, I've always felt completely comfortable and confident in her care. My husband got me the spa package "day in paradise" for my birthday! I was really nervous, because it was my first ever spa day, and I was not let down. The ladies who took care of me were amazing. I had Ursula (sorry if the spelling is wrong) for my pedicure, and facial, and she gave me some really helpful tips on both sections. She really took care of me, and I absolutely loved spending my time with her. Ursula was really kind, and I loved having her take care of me. I had lunch at the spa as well, and the person who made it (i didnt catch her name) was so friendly, and really sweet. She made me a delicious and beautiful chia bowl. Lastly, I had another lady for my massage (i also didnt catch her name) but she talked me through some important parts of my body that needed extra attention. Overall, my birthday was made extra special because of the ladies at Symphony Spa. Thank you so much Symphony Spa!
