They do not be state that they charge you a full haircut when they trim up your bangs which are supposed to be free. There prices are ridiculous, they argue with the client when you say that you did not have a haircut and refuse to give you one for free at a later date. Will not be using them again and will go on yelp to leave a review there too.

I just had the best afternoon. Toes and nails done a week ago with the loveliest young lady who, sadly, I can't remember her name. I felt safe with all their covid safety measures. Today my husband treated me to the full hair experience. Danielle was beyond experienced and I feel beautiful. High and low lights, cut and omg...the head and neck massage!!! And Brett, well he quickly got my 2 finger nails fixed even though I was the one who messed them up 4 seconds after I left the salon last week. Very nice and pleasant experience. Thank you everyone. I'm one very happy lady.

I found Thomas, a few years ago and he has been my stylist since. Love love love getting my cuts there. Super friendly front staff, professional, clean and always love the outcome <3 Definitely my go to!!! I am so glad you guys were finally able to open back up :)

I have gone to James Brett’s west end salon for almost 10 years, but today will certainly be the last time. My stylist Logan was most unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable during my “cut”/colour. I showed her pictures of what I wanted but what I got was not even close... when I voiced my concerns that she had not done what I had asked, she stormed off to get her manager. Unfortunately the second try was no better. Finally on the 3rd try I gave up and told her it was fine (not wanting to cause more damage to my hair). She was super unpleasant after my complaint and basically refused to cut my hair and said she would just trim my ends... She never once apologized for her mistake. I cannot express enough how badly she made me feel for her mistake. To top it off, the salon charged me full price for this disaster I now need to get fixed. If you think it’s ok to charge an evidently unhappy customer close to 200$ when they clearly didn’t get what was asked, don’t be surprised to lose business.

After having an amazing experience at the downtown location I booked my fiancee in at this location. Now my fiancee hates to spend money on getting his hair cut, which is why I normally do it. So I booked the appointment for him and just told him to go. He absolutely loved the experience and loves his hair cut. I will continue to highly recommend James Brett as THE place to go to in Kingston.

Good service and they give you the head wash and everything. Could use a little work with their front-line staff. They can never take any walk-ins, even if it is just a quick men's cut. Would recommend a different hair salon if you actually want to see someone without booking weeks in advanced.

I had the BEST experience yesterday with Thomas as my Stylist. He's a lovely person, funny, easy to chat with and relate to ... and wow, can he cut hair. My hair was badly in need of repair. Bad colour and bad cut. I honestly didn't think it could be fixed to the point of being lovely. I thought the best I could get was something acceptable, until it grows out. But I was so wrong! I left it in Thomas' capable hands to choose the colours (2), how and where to apply them and what would suit my skin tone best. The same with the cut, after all, he is a Senior Stylist. The result was shocking to me. Magic actually. I still don't know how I did it. The colouring is stunning, so flattering. I had no makeup on, but because of the colour, it looked like I had bright blue eyes (which I do), blush on and lipstick (which I didn't). That's because the colour suited my fair skin. Now the cut. I've never seen anything like the way Thomas cut my hair. He moves fast, with his scissors and his body, flipping your hair around as he goes. It was incredible to watch. I highly recommend both James Brett Coiffure as a salon (Aveda products which are cruelty-free and a beautiful jewellery collection based out of Victoria, BC). But also, Thomas. You should book an appointment with him, just don't take my future spots :) The salon itself (West End RioCan) is spacious ... extremely Covid-safe ... I was literally about 30 feet away from other clients. Oh, and the scalp massage, absolute heaven! If I would give a higher rating than 5/5 I would have. Easily an 11/10 and then some. I know this is long but that's how passionately I feel about my experience with Thomas yesterday. Many, many thanks to Thomas. I'm so appreciative and will see you next time, without a doubt!!!

Been going here for about 6 months now. All the people i have been with there have been superb. Heather is my regular and she is amazing. It makes for a truly great experience. Neck rubs and hand massages while they cut your hair. I really can't say enough good things. Will still be going there for a long time.

I have been going to James Brett Coiffure for about 3 yrs now. As soon as you walk in the front staff are very welcoming - asking to take your coat, offering a tea or water; it's like they are welcoming you into their home. Krystal is a wonderful stylist. Very friendly, funny and kind. It may be more expensive than some salons but it is worth the pampering. They give shoulder, neck, head and hand massages. Very relaxing. Thanks Krystal, M P.S. I do have a question for James Brett, have you thought of offering 10% off store products for your loyal patrons?

I hadn’t visited a hairdresser in over 5 years in favour of cutting my own after many awful experiences with hairdressers. Finally in November I decided it was time to get a professional to step in and help me regain control of the INSANELY long cut I had going for me. Junior stylist Donna listened to my concerns about the haircut not fitting my style, and cut my hair in the kinda messy way I had asked. She managed to keep my “punk rock” look while cleaning up the mop that I had accumulated over a good 9 months of lockdown. Hairdressers NEVER know what I’m talking about when I explain “perfectly messy” but Donna knew right away what I was looking for, and I was super pleased with the results. I highly recommend booking with Donna if you have a rockstar ish haircut that requires a lot of attention like I do. she nailed it! I’ll be booking again as soon as they re open.

I can't even begin to express how impressed I am. Brett cut my incredible special needs son's hair without a hitch. He got down on my son's level and had him actively involved in the cut. I have never seen him take to someone as he did him. Although my son couldn't express how special this experience was I can absolutely say that we are eternally grateful and this is the only person that will ever cut his hair again.

This cut and style was the most expensive I have had. I don’t mind paying top dollar if I walk out feeling fabulous. The two stars is for the haircut which was pretty good. The senior stylist was very receptive to how I wanted my curly hair cut and was spot on. The loss of stars is for the blow out, which was terrible. I have a hotter hair dryer at home and am able to blow my hair out silky smooth. The stylist used low heat with no tension with the hair dryer for my very curly hair and then used a super hot flat iron. My hair looked pin straight with no bounce and fried ends. The hair stylist I used to go to in Toronto would only use a hair dryer and I would leave with bouncy soft beautiful hair. I was very disappointed especially because it was so expensive.

The staff were friendly, however I saw Parker who is supposed to be a curl specialist, and didn't seem to know how to style curly hair. I came in with curly hair past my belly button, told her that 4-5 inches was ok to cut, I now have hair at my collar bone. I didn't know this until after I got home as when she styled my hair she didn't dry it how you dry curly hair and I left looking like a frizzy mess. She's a super nice lady, but if you don't know how to work with curly hair, don't advertise yourself as a curl specialist

After getting my haircut done by one of the hair dressers my fade looked like a candy corn. I would suspect that I am the first mens hair cut she has ever performed. To say her skill would be useful at pets mart to trim poodles would be a gross over qualification. If the world would suddenly come to an apocalyptic end in which she was the last hair dress in the world, and I had hair and a beard like Robin Williams in Jumanji when he first comes back to the present I still wouldn't let this woman within 100m of my bubble with a set of clippers.

My four year old daughter and I both had our hair done by Heather last month. Heather is incredible! She was so wonderful with my daughter during her haircut. It was my daughter’s first time in a salon and Heather made sure she was comfortable and talked to her very respectfully about the process so my daughter understood and wasn’t scared. Heather knows a lot about curly hair and Paw Patrol which was a hit for my daughter! Heather also did my hair at another appointment and I was very impressed with the colour and cut. Thank you! We will definitely be back to this location!
