A family member and I had a really bad experience here. I went in to get layers (payed $120), hair stylist (Chris) said my hair “wasn’t fit” for layers and instead just cut the dead ends and tried to let my bangs fade into my overall hair length, which instead looked somewhat like stairs. Was not a good cut—my mom could’ve done better. My sister came to pick me up and asked for an appointment to get a perm, and the stylist agreed—keep this in mind: my aforementioned hair stylist saw my sister’s hair length. A few days later when my sister went in for her perm (payed $200), she was put with the same hair stylist I had before, and was denied a perm due to her “hair length”—when she had already seen my sister’s hair with her own eyes. The stylist said she had to cut around 20 cm of my sister’s hair in order to do a perm when my sister has had many previous perms (with piggyback technique AND without). Obviously my sister declined and was instead left with highlights and a bad cut almost exactly like mine—a staircase—when she payed $200. $80 more than what I payed, but for almost the exact same result. The stylist also dried my sisters hair poorly, rubbing it together, which is naturally bad for your hair. This left her hair with multiple thick knots which she brushed FROM THE TOP, when you’re supposed to start from the bottom and work your way up. This resulted in my sister losing a huge clump of hair. Extremely disappointing, and a complete waste of our time and money. If you’re coming here to get a haircut… don’t. ????

Tuesday, June 26th. Walked into Avanta with messy hair, and a tired face. The staff were awesome, and were super friendly. They did both my hair and makeup. I walked out of the salon with a tiara in my hair, (graduation) and with a smile on my face. Still looking for heathers instagram! I really want to see the pics of my hair!! Highly recommended. 10/10! I will be visiting Avanta again soon.

Would highly recommend this salon and spa. They are very friendly and stylists are very qualified. Salon adheres strictly to covid protocols ensuring everyone can experience a safe visit. Have been going here for at least 13 years. My stylist Heather is superb,listens to my ideas and offers her professional advice. The best salon in Kingston.

I had an amazing time today getting my lashes done, I’m awful with names so I forget my Aestheticians name, but she is the only one who specializes in lash extensions. To start, the lady at the front desk was very warm and kind, she booked me in today after my last lash tech cancelled on me last minute. It seemed easy and effortless to get what I wanted done. Secondly, the location is very convenient, lots of parking. Inside is nice, calm and clean. You can feel a positive working atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Lastly, my appointment felt like I was catching up with an old friend, there’s nothing like finding an Aesthetician/lash technician that you jive with well. We chatted the whole time which made time fly for me. My Aesthetician was very caring and soft handed during the appointment, it felt more like a face pressure point massage rather than a lash extension appointment. She was very knowledgeable about the service she provides and the tools and products she uses. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Avanta for lash services and I am sure they take as much care and pride in all the other services they provide. Thanks again ladies!

Cut was average, got a not so friendly stylist. Watch out, they're the type of salon that sneaks extra services (as stylists work on commission). Specify what services you want done with your stylist, not the front desk.
