I went to this salon on November 22, 2018 all the way from the eastside of the city near the Mint. When I entered, the girl at the counter asked how she could help me today. I replied that I would like to purchase a wig. She states that wig sales are by appointment only and that she would see when I can book an appointment. I explained that I just came from across the city and that I wished to see some wigs today. She checked with someone in the back room and came back to tell me that they were all booked up for today and would I like to make an appointment for the following day! Really? Like as if I'm going to drive all the way back the next day! I just wanted to look at what wigs they had on display?? So I'm standing there with $500+ to make a purchase and I was turned away! Well it sucks to be them because I will take my business else where!

I needed a last minute hair cut before an important meeting and called to see if they could get me in in time. They said they could get me in at 2:50pm. Since my meeting was at 4:00pm and I had to change first I told them that would only work if they could guarantee me it would be 2:50pm sharp otherwise I'd try another salon. The girl on the phone said that would be no problem. When I came in I got asked to wait and at 3:00pm they told me it would still be another 10 minutes. I had to leave without getting my hair cut and I'm very disappointed.

Went back after many many years to see Sharmay for hair color, highlights and haircut. Sharmay is super friendly, also very confident when consulting on hair color and appropriate products. She did a great job. I am very satisfied with the outcome. The products she suggested are quite price and I ended up getting two out of the three she suggested. When I came in my hair was at shoulder length and I ended up paying over $180 for the hair service alone, which is very overpriced in my opinion and from my past experiences. I usually pay around $100 to $150 for the same hair service at other hair salons. Price point is definitely a factor in deciding if I can afford regular visits.

Very nice atmosphere + pleasant staff. Deb was great - listening to my concerns + giving me ideas + suggestions. Truly appreciated her time + expertise. I will never, ever go back. As a cancer patient, the very last thing you should ever feel is being taken advantage of, or made to feel as if everything was just a money grab...and unfortunately this is exactly what I and my friend have been left with. My close friend and I both recently started chemotherapy and started our search for a wig. Anyone who has been through this themselves or with a family member can empathize with how devastating losing one’s hair can be. To make a long story short...both my friend Kristie and I were given conflicting advice and “suggestions” as to hair take down, and scalp treatment. You see she did not purchase her wig from city looks and was told she would need a scalp treatment and hair take down at a cost of $85. I did purchase my $900 wig from city look and because I chose for my husband to do the very personal hair take down at home, apparently I was not in need of a scalp treatment that was told to us both was so very important when starting chemo. Apparently this procedure is included in the purchase of wig but yet I was told I didn’t need one, but Kristie did. Funny, because no one ever assessed my scalp when I went to pick up my wig. And then the wig. Not at all what I asked for or wanted, you see I wanted full long hair like I had so I could feel like me...but I kept being told no one ever wants that, that it is too hot...I wondered how someone could possibly know what I wanted for me...and so, Feeling very overwhelmed with all of the impending hair loss and such...I felt very pressured into ordering something that the 2 employees at the wig room thought would be best for me. When I called to say how unhappy I was hours after I picked up my wig,I initially wasn’t able to speak with the manager...I then did get a call and in a fairly unfriendly, cool manner, was told that I could come in next day to see if there was something in the shop I might like better, but no one ever wants more hair on a wig, it just didn’t happen...so I went in the next day and was told if they had to order again I would have to pay a restocking fee...but thankfully I did find something better...still not totally what I wanted still it was better than what I had....so I left with it...and, after being told that this well used wig (matted underneath at the base I imagine from being tried on many a time) was actually $100 more than the wig I had originally ordered, but somehow they’d find away to “eat” the cost. And when I asked about the total of $1500 I spent there on a wig, wig care kit, special hair loss shampoo and lotion, beanie caps etc...when I asked for an itemized bill they said they would mail it to me as it was not ready. But they very much liked my jewelry I was wearing as was told to me as I clearly was showing my frustration with the lack of transparency in what I was spending so much money on. Even to the point that is was said to me they didn’t want me to feel like I was been gauged. My friend who purchased her wig elsewhere received the wig care kit at no cost, it was included in her price of her wig. At every turn it seemed there was a charge for this, a charge for that, and we as chemo hair loss clients would need these scalp treatments...unless you take your hair down yourself and then they aren’t as important for some odd reason. All in all, both my friend and I felt that everything was a money grab and we both would highly recommended NOT going to City Looks for a wig or any other hair loss remedy. We hope that no one else going through cancer and all of its side effects has to deal with what we did at this place, and that is the soul reason for posting a review of this nature. No one should ever feel this.

Came in as first time client for a haircut. She cut the hair to the length I wanted, which I was happy about, and after styling (curls) it looked great, or so I thought. The story completed changed when I washed my hair the next day and straighten it. It looks so disappointing when straight. The hair is just flat and looks all sorts of wrong. I absolutely hate cutting my hair but I did it because I wanted to get it back to health, so it grows. Except that’s not going to happen now that I have to always curl my hair so it looks decent enough

Unfortunately the girls at the front argued with me over their promotion; I called a head to make sure Mens haircuts were still on sale on Mondays and then had a nasty surprise at the till, then she starts arguing with me over our phone conversation, she knew I was coming in for the Monday special but conveniently never told me it was over. Too bad, the stylist is great but I'm not going back based on poor front end customer service.

This is by far the best place to get a pedicure or facial, and the “gold standard” to which I compare all other spas I’ve visited. The treatments and expertise are consistent at every visit - it doesn’t matter who you see. However, there is very low staff turnover, and everyone makes an effort to remember you and make you feel welcome. My sister is handicapped and comes here often, and I’m sure she can be a tough client to have, but all the staff know exactly how to treat her, and that means a lot!

I had two appointments - one to see the selection and get some information, and a second to fit my specific wig and have it cut, as well as learn how to put it on, care for it, etc. Deb was great. I have been coming to City Looks since my children gave me a Mother's Day gift certificate over 15 years ago! Amanda has been giving me pedicures for over 2 years as I struggled with arthritis and a knee replacement. Not only is there great care taken with the work of a pedicure (sterile equipment, etc.), the hospitality offered makes the experience most enjoyable (ambient lighting, tea, hot neck rolls, extra pillows, etc. etc.). Staff is always friendly, welcoming and respectful. I always leave feeling better in all ways than when I arrived! If you are looking for a great place to get your haircut this is it. It costs me about 23$ to get my hair cut. Might be a bit to expensive for some folks but the quality is worth the money. I was so lucky to get Jenna L that day and I have been going to her ever since. My sister is now a convert too. Just over a year ago, I developed alopecia and put my complete trust in Deb. What a mistake that was! At the time I still had a fair amount of hair and Deb assured me that the wig she recommended would continue to work for me even if I lost all of my hair. It barely worked for me with some hair, never mind without any hair. It was uncomfortable, it did not stay in place and after trying to make it work for a couple of months, I gave up and went with hats and scarves. The wig claimed to be human hair but it seemed more like hair from a horse’s tail. When my wig came in, I went to Deb to have it cut. That was my second and last mistake! She told me as soon I arrived that she had a family member present and there was a family issue going on. If she couldn’t deal with clients because of her family issues, she should have rescheduled. Deb was clearly distracted, she kept coming and going from the room while she was in the middle of my hair cut to deal with her family matter. I was made to feel like I was a huge inconvenience to her. We finally managed to get the bangs cut and I pointed out that I wanted a little bit of texturing on the sides. I’m a hairdresser so I told her exactly how I wanted it and how it needed to be cut. She completely butchered my stupidly, over-priced wig! At that point I told her to stop and I left. Thankfully, my regular hairdresser was able to clean up Deb’s mess but it didn’t really matter much in the end because the $2000.00+ wig is useless to me. I have since tried much, much less expensive wigs and they are great.

I had the unfortunate task of joining my dear friend last spring at City Looks to start looking for a wig, as she had just been diagnosed with cancer. She was scared. I was scared for her. Our appointment was with Deb. Our first visit was ok. Deb was informative as to the process ahead. My friend was sad but took in all the info and we returned for her second visit. As previously discussed this appointment was possibly to have her "hair let down". Huh? Who says that? You mean hair cut? My friend had not begun to lose her hair yet so she declined that service at that time. Suddenly our service changed. You could see Debs frustration and continued with little compassion to convince my friend that the hair loss was inevitable and this was a booked appt to have it done. My friend still said no not yet. Deb left the room and left me to wonder what was the best thing to do that day. We left. Came back for the wig fitting and was abruptly told that without having hair let down won't fit. We were also not impressed with the wig being referred to as "she". My friend has since passed away.....barely lost any hair and I am left with the sour taste in my mouth on how someone who has obviously never suffered any of the embarrassing/ frightening or unknowns of this terrible disease continues to head up a job that I believe requires the utmost of compassion and understanding. Shame! This was an unfortunate experience that I hope no one else has to endure. My other experiences at City Looks have been and are commendable!

I was devastated to be in my 30s with dreaded female pattern baldness. I thought my only hope was to learn to love hats, and never swim in public again. Every time I saw more hair in the drain there were more tears, I couldn't buy enough draino to manage the hair clogs. That's when I found City Looks and Nicole N. She and the entire team were so supportive and understanding of devastating the process of female pattern baldness is on people. She walked me through what was happening and provided a supportive, understanding environment that made me look forward to walking into a hair salon again. I was put on a treatment plan of scalp care services and products and was thrilled to see improvements in my hair quality and fullness. I can honestly say I wouldn't have the hair I have without the help of Nicole N. and City Looks.

Fantastic service on my hair. NOT so fantastic price. $95 for a 35 minute style? Come on. Your site even says $60 and up based on intricacy and time required. Clearly it couldn't have been that difficult or intricate or time consuming when I was in and out in half an hour. My stylist was great and really friendly, but I am reminded of why I stopped coming here. Without a set price to pay, they can charge whatever they feel like. And they have signs all over asking you to bring cash for a tip because of the high price of processing fees. TACKY, and clearly you aren't doing that badly if you made $95 for a half hour's work.

I really enjoy every visit when I go to City Looks Salon & Spa. I've had several haircuts as well as been to the spa a few times, the treatment I get is always excellent. Friendly and competent staff who really try to go above and beyond. My most recent pedicure experience there was amazing. I went along with a few friends and we all were in a group space together. What a fun experience and the pedi was amazing! Clean sterile products, take home your file and polish if you like. Overall, I would recommend this place, regardless of it it's a little treat yourself day, a ladies night out or a classic haircut. Thanks City Looks staff - you folks truly are caring!

For the last 18 years of my life I have fought with my hair loss, oscillating between growing my hair out, cutting it short, going to doctors and specialists, taking hair growth treatments and considering (and then not being deemed a candidate for) hair transplant. I had always feared the idea of getting a wig as growing up I had a member of my family who wore one, and the piece looked worn and obviously fake, and I could not imagine such a thing on my own head. I went to City Looks Salon and Spa looking for a wig with a final sense of resignation, but I walked away with a new lease on how I looked and felt about myself - the piece I got is fantastic, and the care and attention I received were amazing. I felt normal for perhaps the first time in my life as I was made aware of how common wigs are in the world and how good and natural they look. I was shown how to look after my wig and now after spending more than half of my life trying to hide away my inadequacy, I am looking forward to showing myself off.

I've had the great pleasure of experiencing many services at City Looks. Brittaney did a facial for me, I have had many facials in the past however this particular facial was INCREDIBLE!!!!! During my facial she also gave me a massage OMG. After my facial she answered all of my questions with great knowledge and recommended appropriate products for the results I wanted to achieve. My skin was glowing seriously glowing. During my entire service I was trying to think of one word that could best describe Brittaney and her craft and the word that stuck in my head was STELLAR! Brittney truly LOVES what she does it radiates off of her. Nicole B on another occasion that I was in gave me a massage this is another lady I would highly recommend if you need to unwind and relax she was UNBELIEVABLE. Sabrina A. afterwards did my hair she not only did a GREAT job but has a beautiful soul. Tracy G did a acne facial for my son and was Wonderful with him, he enjoyed his time with her loved the results and still talks about it and he's only 13. Great Atmosphere Great Staff and Management. We went in for a wig, please keep in mind it is by appointment, but the reason for that is also because they spend the time to educate, show and explain various wigs, tell us about the products and how to care for the product. Our family loves going to City Looks! This spa is unlike any other in the City. My two teens and I come here for various services. My teens are extremely picky, and this is the only place they will go. I have been to a lot of places, but at City Looks, they do something extra with each service that you don't get elsewhere. Appts are always on time and yet, you are never rushed. Also, they don't try and up-sell or are pushy with add-ons. They are always honest and really know how to care for their customers. I can 100% relax when I come here and know I will be taken care of. Each one of the staff is so attentive. The management here has done an excellent job of training their staff and creating a wonderful spa experience for every customer that walks in! I wish I could give more stars... 5++++!!

My family has been through so much and Deb rushed through everything and treated us like we were just her next sale.... She was so short with us, and had a terrible attitude the entire time. She was very careful, meticulous, explained everything she was doing for this newbie, used only sterile instruments and was very nice to chat with as well. Deb is an angel! I came to City Looks as I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and was looking for a wig. She made the experience so comfortable and was very welcoming. She has an excellent understanding of wigs and the effects that chemo has on hair. She made sure that I had all the right products to get me through my treatments! My scalp has never felt so healthy and hydrated!! While I was nervous to take down me hair, Deb made the experience so good and gave a fantastic scalp treatment after! For a lot of women, that is a very hard experience and Deb helped make it as easy as possible. If you are undergoing cancer treatment and dealing with hair loss, I would 10/10 recommend going to Deb. I am so happy that she encouraged me to take my hair down. I no longer have to deal with the emotional effects of having hair falling out and have the most gorgeous wig that I get to wear everyday! :)

I have been to City Looks for 2 hair cuts with Ashley G, a scalp Consultation and a a scalp Treatment with Nicole. Absolutely LOVE this this salon. So clean, the staff are all very pleasant. They'll take your coat, offer you beverages while you wait/have your treatment done. No pressure sales to use their products which is nice. Ashley G gives THEE BEST head massages during your shampoo and condition! ???? Eager to try their other salon services such as mani/pedi, facials and massage.

In response to the owner's comments... Firstly... My hair is fine.i was sent to you by my hairdresser, secondly regardless of what your staff thinks I should have, they should at least listen to what the customer WANTS and then try to work with that. Your staff member wouldn't even listen to what I wanted.. It was a partial or full wig or don't waste her time.. Not to mention she let met know many times that she is not being paid for this consult. She only would show me 1 thing because she doesn't want to clean or waste time showing me anything other than what she wanted me to have. She was very rude and I left feeling worse so please don't give me that it's about the integrity of my hair... Because the level of customer service and giving the customer what they want and need was so not there. She could have easily showed me what I was thinking about buying and then explained why it may not work for ne. Instead of just saying no this is what you need... Which I said right from the get go...I don't want a wig. Nothing like driving 2hrs for that.... Jo-Ann I went in to see someone about a hairpiece. The woman in charge ask me what I wanted when I told her it was like she didn't even hear me. instead she told me what I should be using and that's what she showed me. even though I said many times that I did not want a partial or full wig I wanted clip-ins she refused to listen to me numerous times I retold her. I said I do not feel comfortable with a wig and I want something just to clip in. She refused to show me anything that was what I wanted and basically when I didn't like what she showed me she basically just shut down. It was like she was angry with me for not wanting what she was choosing for me.I get that she may think that that's what I should have but that's not what I wanted and what happened to making the customer happy I left that place so dissatisfied I thought it was a complete waste of my time.if you are not going in planning to get a full wig do not go there they will not help you unless that's what you're going there for because of course those cost way more money than anything else and she made it very clear that her time is valuable.and my hairdresser had recommended them for clip-ins so I'm not sure what the whole issue was I'm still looking for something for my hair so if you're in the same boat as me do not go there you will be very disappointed.

Deb McMillan is an excellent wig consultant who really knows her "stuff ". Not only did she sell me a beautiful wig but she cut it to suit me. Friends were amazed that I was wearing a wig as it looked so natural! I highly recommend giving Deb a call as she is a cut above others who are simply selling a wig. Highly recommend her expertise!

Be mindful of pricing! Myself and daughter have been going for years. Made an appointment for a bang trim for my daughter but her regular stylist was not available, so we asked for anyone. Normally we pay $5 this time we were shocked to be charged $16 for a bang trim which is crazy for 5 mins and half an inch of her time. Make sure you know what you're paying before you start.

After an amazing treatment and shampoo to maintain, I finally have hair that isn’t greasy by 4pm! 40 years I have fought oily scalp and hair. I’m so happy to have found out what the issue was!

Birthday gift of a pedicure with polish. It was a nice present, as I like having my feet buffed and nails polished. The nails weren't shaped the same. (Cut and lightly filed. Some are round, or light U shape or square) After taxes, having to buy dollar store flip flops, the price of a smaller nail polish bottle, it was $70 something. Having polish shortens the massage portion. The "scrub" is plain white sugar poured on the palm of the hand with lotion on top, rubbed on the legs to mix it. (The sugar is lost as it's a not pre mixed.) I've had better pedicures at the school or nail place (where the language isn't English) for $30-35. Sorry but the prices and quality, I wouldn't return.
