I booked a massage here in the fall, based on a recommendation from a friend, so I had high hopes. I requested an afternoon appointment and confirmed all the details with the receptionist. She called back a few minutes later to ask if I could move to the morning, which was no problem, only to have her call back again to say that wouldn't work anymore and to come for my original time.
My appointment was booked for 12:30, and I arrived about 10 minutes early. I was offered a glass of water and told to have a seat (in their one chair in the waiting area). I'd been waiting 45 minutes for my massage, when the staff member finally came around at 1:15, I was tense, anxious and stressed due to waiting around for so long.
The massage room was rather small and bright, even though the blinds where closed. The music that was played was loud and not relaxing at all. I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff member who gave me my massage. I could hardly relax during the massage, which made the staff member more bothered, and the cherry on the top was that the massage I had requested was not the one I was given. It was almost as if their tardiness was taken out on me, by giving me a shorter, faster massage. It seemed like it was quite rushed, and I got the impression the staff member wanted to be back gossiping with her coworkers. The products used also left on awful residue on me. By the end of the experience I felt as if I needed a hot shower or bath to relax and wash off the left over product.
I love supporting local businesses, but this experience left a sour taste in my mouth and unfortunately I will not be returning. First impression are the most lasting.
