Soooo... this was a while ago but I'm going to say something anyway.
I went to go see a chiropractor at Gander Wellness Centre & which the appointment was what I needed because my back did feel better but let me tell you about the people who work there.. so I was waiting to go in for my appointment and which the front desk lady seemed nice enough, i figured she just was stand off ish because maybe thats who she is.. i dont know.. (i'll speak more about her after) anyway I went into my appointment and it was all good BUT the whole time, the doctor was treating me as a "get in, get out" type of thing.. i tried explaining to him that there was more wrong with my back then just my lower spine area, but he completely avoided it.. yeah sure he was semi-nice and kinda making conversation but theres a reason one becomes a doctor...
After that, I go back out to go pay for my appointment but me being Indigenous, I ask her about showing her my status card as it might have been able to be covered then and there.. but no, of course I had to send the receipt to the Band Office back home and do it that way.. which is a real incovience because hardly anywhere in Newfoundland let alone Gander can I use my status card because none of the systems have tax exemption.. but thats another "rant"... Anyway, after I told the front desk lady about my status card she started becoming more rude I guess you could say because of the way she was talking to me.. She was treating me as if I was a person with hardly any money.. maybe it was the clothes I was wearing because I was wearing comfy clothing.. but isnt that what you wear to the chiroporactors office? I dont know..
This is experience made me not want to go back there.. ill go for a massage because those ladies were much nicer!!! But not for another chiro appointment.. I'm sorry but im not going to be treated as I was treated and put up with it... I hope that lady is in this group so she sees how she made me feel and maybe change her ways!! Its work hunny.. youre supposed to be professional to whoever comes in and needs that service.. don't treat someone like as if they dont belong there!! & im not assuming youre racist.. but it kind of seemed like you have opinions about us Indigenous people and the so called "privileges" we have and let me tell you first and foremost.. we DO NOT have most stuff that most people think we do... I most definitely pay taxes almost everyday...
Cant wait to leave this province.. never truly realized how ignorant and kind of racist people are here! Stuck in their old miserable ways!
