Mechanics actually look for cheaper ways to fix your vehicle for you, but often it's less expensive to buy the part yourself elsewhere. Some of the parts counter clerks are really truly terrible; they pass of parts before confirming they are the correct one. Most recently I pulled out my Honda Civic's thermostat to realize the one they sold me is not even close to the same; I can't put the old one back as the gasket is not reusable. I was lucky there was a Honda dealer within walking distance. This isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened. I won't buy parts from this Canadian Tire again. The rest of the store and staff are always wonderful. Great fishing selection offsets my huge disappointment with the parts counter.

I have been going to Canadian Tire for vehicle repairs for several years now. There has never once ever been a time where I was disappointed with the service provided on my car. Nicole and Nick have always gone out of their way to “squeeze me in” and I have always left happy and knowing my vehicle was given the best care. Most importantly I am given the truth as to upcoming repairs that will need to be taken care of etc. Not only do I feel safe with the work being done on my vehicle, I am extremely satisfied. When is your Yellowknife Canadian Tire store going to be a place to shop where you don't have to deal with the miserable staff. I work hard for my money and when I go to spend it I expect some sort of respect and courtesy from the staff. Once again, the customer service or should I say "The customer abuse desk" were discourteous and down right rude!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who ever brings up Canadian Tire in a conversation have nothing but negative comments about the whole store. So Canadian Tire "Smarten up" get some decent staff who make it a pleasurable experience to shop there and while I'm on this rant, get even more staff. I've spent fifteen minutes of my precious time just looking for someone to help me. When you do finally find someone, in the store, if you search long enough and ask them a question more than likely they have no idea what it is you need. It would really help if staff were trained to help customers. I think it’s awful that we, as customers, have to do the work of your staff, it’s a disgrace.

So I went to Canadian Tire for the Transmission fluid leak and asked for the diagnosis of the transmission. Okay so they told me I need a front axle seal which cost me 2 hours of labour, diagnosis time and amount of the part so the total money I paid was 425 $. And right same night it started leaking again and i went there for the fix and then they said your bearings inside transmission is faulty. Now giving a quote of 8K for a transmission. Like the diagnosis should tell the worned out bearings on the first day but they didn’t tell anything about that. So I ended up paying 425$ for nothing. This is the service they are providing.

My experience at this location was above and beyond expectations. A sudden issue with my truck on a Saturday would have caused a severe impact on my upcoming work schedule -- after a few setbacks, the CT team pulled off an unbelievable win in OT! Three members were dedicated to getting me back on the road almost two hours beyond the scheduled closing time for the garage. Also, the cost was very reasonable for the effort pu forth. With not many options in the area on weekends, I drove away very impressed with the service i received from personnel at this location. Thanks, guys!

I look line to an electric fire place and there was two on stock. Arriving at the store I was then told there was two and after a 45 min waiting I asked the service desk did the helper find the fireplace and he said there wasnt one in the warehouse. If they couldn't fix the issue it would be because it's a ford issue that only could be fixed at a ford dealership (anti theft). A financial mistake was made while purchasing tires. I returned to the store, and talked to Colin at the customer service desk. He was super helpful and friendly. He helped as much as he could til the auto service manager Nicole got off lunch and corrected a fairly complicated issue. Not once did they make me feel as though I was bothering them even though they weren't the ones who made the mistake in the first place. Exceptional customer service is not easy to come by, but Canadian Tire definitely should do everything to keep these two employees happy!

When I arrived to the store today there were 2 individuals standing at the entrance waiting to go in and another man approaching the entrance going in across from me, a member of the Canadian Tire staff (who might have been the owner of the store as he was not wearing the Canadian Tire uniform) was at the entrance guiding the line and letting people in as space became available due to capacity limits for retail stores in Ontario. The staff member told the man across from me that the two individuals waiting by the entrance were waiting to enter Marks Work Warehouse so if you were going into Canadian tire you were good to go in. I was behind the staff member so I’m not sure if he knew I heard him give the go ahead to enter the store if you weren’t going into Mark’s Work Warehouse. The staff member yelled at me as I walked in the entrance and proceeded to tell me I was inconsiderate among other things in front of the two individuals waiting in the Mark’s line, after I apologized and let him know that I was entering Canadian Tire not Marks Work Warehouse he called me inconsiderate for what I had did for the second time. From there I turned around and left the store. I wish I had a chance to say I was sorry to the two individuals waiting in the Marks line before I had left because I do not mind waiting in a line during these pressing times with capacity limits in stores, I am completely understanding of that, but I ended up going to my vehicle and crying in the parking lot for 15 minutes before I could continue home. I left feeling completely belittled. Perhaps I could have clarified with the staff member that it was okay that I went in as well, but I’m super frustrated with the customer service, I believe the situation could have been handled in a better and more respectful way. If I could give -10 stars I would.

The store is big and well stocked, clean and the checkout staff are friendly. However there is no enforcement with the one way aisles, I was trying to be diligent but it seemed like nobody else was. In addition, it was difficult to find staff, I wanted to purchase something out of the locked tool cabinets but could not find an employee to get it for me and the auto parts/service desk was lined up, very difficult to get what you need if it's behind locked doors, I understand why but an employee should be more accessible to assist in making such purchases.

Today at 1740 I had to go to Canadian Tire to pick up new paint. I had just made it in time because they were closing at 1800. Fortunately I went to the Canadian Tire in Fort Frances, rather than to Menards since i received wonderful, prompt service and they did not even mind that i came late (lots of stores employees would give remarks showing up that close to closing time). I was helped by a very knowledgeable employee (I believe his name was Jordan, he used to work in automotive I believe) He helped me find the perfect paint and it was even on sale! 10/10 would go back again.

I must say that since the new owners have taken over this store has deteriorated in customer service. There are long check out lines, the self checkout is never operational and we just do not see the same level of service. Today I waited in a long line and once I got to the cash I was told there was only debit or credit. ( the sign was posted at the cash behind another sign) Thankfully the person behind me saw this frustration and actually paid for my purchase. That is what I love of about this town. Trying to get prices for past flyers for large groups like schools just doesn't happen anymore. As a person, like many other yellowknifers, who spends a great deal of money at this store, the level of reciprocated appreciation is something that needs a great deal improvement.

I Just wanted to take the time to drop this message. On Friday May 17th, 2019 my family was driving from Timmins Ontario to Niagara Falls Ontario for a vacation. We had stopped at the Walmart located next to this Canadian Tire when we ran into some vehicle issues. I approached the service department at your store and this is where you blew me away. Not only to the gentleman behind the counter help out with what he could, but the mechanic he sent to help me was amazing. They both went above and beyond for my family and I can't thank them and Canadian Tire enough for basically coming to the rescue and same my families vacation.

Dear Canadian Tire, I am very disappointed in your marketing. In your new flyer you have canvas lights on sale. When I go to your website you can only order online the canvas lights that are not on sale, and almost none of the stores are carrying the sets of lights I want which unfortunately are on sale. Very poor experience today. Picked up an online order, which involved a large box. Came out to me in a shopping cart with items from another order, so the associate asked me lift the box so she could remove the other items. After lifting the box, I noticed white all over the front of my jacket - the box had white paint spilled all over it, and it wasn't completely dry. The manager came to speak with me, and all he said, sarcastically, was "I'm sorry", and then he stared at me. I asked him to wipe the box, and there was nothing else said or done. I've had good and bad experiences at this store, but this was, by far, the worst.

I had a battery maintainer installed at the CT. I came back because the power goes off when I plug it in. Before I got it installed the block heater cable was the one coming out of my vehicle. But when they installed the maintainer they got an extension installed to plug the block heater and maintainer. The block heater plug was initially damaged when I forgot to unplug it from the wall. I asked if they can also replace that when I had the maintainer installed. They said they did and didn't bother checking. I had to bring it back because the power goes off at a certain time and it doesn't stay on (no timer) when I came back to have it checked I also asked if they can replace the plug from the box heater. They said nothing wrong and all is working as it should and they replaced the block heater plug. Only to find out that they replaced the plug sticking out from the vehicle and not the block heater plug. I called to complain about it. Then this guy was blatant right out saying that I was yelling ?????Seriously??? I was complaining but I wasn't yelling. Defensive much??? His voice got kinda firm and made it a bit louder to have his co workers hear him saying I was yelling. You should get an award for that. Well he admitted the misunderstanding, I asked if they can give me a refund since they replace the wrong plug. Didn't give me a refund and reiterated there's nothing wrong with the plug that I want replaced. I paid for the plug I asked to be replace and they replaced the wrong plug!!! I got tired of resoning out with him making it to be my fault. Nice customer service. Good actor. I wasn't even asked if I'm okay being charged 50 bucks for replacing the plug. Had I known I wouldn't have asked that. I will never use their service. No more. I should have listened to the cab driver not to go to Canadian Tire.

Up until today, I would have given this Canadian tire a higher rating. Today Was a terrible interaction. We purchased a generator from this location, and unfortunately it stopped working a little over 2 weeks ago on a Sunday and this store was closed because of their hours. no big deal. I drove to the New Liskeard location, and they gave me a straight exchange. no questions asked. My next generator lasted just over 2 weeks and would not start. So I take it to the Kirkland lake location. I get told to bring it in after the mechanics take a lunch because someone needs to look at it, no problem. it took the mechanics 2 hours to determine there was low compression in the machine. This was after being told a compression test will take an hour to do (not the case for a single cylinder engine, max it should take is 15 to 20 minutes) Then it took another almost 30 minutes to complete the exchange after finally getting ahold of the own to inform him of the compression issue. There is NO REASON it should have taken this long for the generator to be looked at. I was there the entire time, and I between "looking" at the generator other vehicles were being swapped around the shop. I live completely off grid, I've spent upwards of over $5,000 in the last few months on materials. I can assure you, after how I was treated, I will gladly drive to the New Liskeard location going forward.

Unfortunately, I had the experience of dealing with Terry at the auto center twice so I can tell you with experience that this is the place you have to avoid at all costs. Terry believes in taking advantage of the people who are stuck rather than helping them out. Below are how my two visits went while was visiting Gaspe 1200kms away from my home in Ottawa: 1st visit - December 17, 2019 I got a flat tire and I bring it to the auto center and asked if it will be covered under warranty as my tires were within 5 years. Terry looks at the tire and said no it won't be as the thread is too low. Fair enough I brought my car in and asked if he could look at the threads of other tires if they were fine. All the other three tires were between 4 and 6 points and he confirmed they were fine. He said if something has to happen to other tires he will prorate it and replace it. I was going to change only the bad the tire but he insisted that I should buy two tires instead. I said okay and got the two new rear tires out of pocket. I asked them to swap a spare tire as well and for this change they charged me $15 (more on this later). 2nd visit - December 19, 2019 Unfortunately, this time I hit a very big pot hole and busted the sidewalls of my front right and rear right tire. I call CAA and bring the car in to Canadian Tire auto center. Terry confirms that he will cover the rear tires under warranty as we just changed it. But here's the catch we don't have more of the tire in stock so you would have to pay the difference of one tire up. The difference was about $100 more for two tires plus I had to pay for balancing again. I asked can you order me more of the same. He goes yea I can but they won't be here before two weeks and I know you are visiting only for a few days. This is your only option and the store is closing in an hour so you have to make the decision right now. Also, he did not changed the front tire under warranty which he had confirmed on my first visit that will be prorated if something has to happen to it. I said okay please change it and could you please swap the spare again. He said sure it will be $20. I'm like what!, you charged me $15 the other day, he fumbled and said oh I did you a favor the other day and we usually charge $20. At this point, I said whatever just change it. This is my second visit to Gaspe and this was my only bad experience that I can think of. It was painful to see that at a reputed place like Canadian Tire, I get to experience such behaviour. Please avoid this auto center and find some local garage instead when you are in Gaspe.

Very poor service. Online quantities are always wrong, tired of driving an hour each way to be told they can't find any of the items I'm looking for. Stores like these are the reason I'm doing more online shopping.

Clean and as per all Canadian Tire Corporation stores, they have followed the plan and have well organized aisles. Seems you walk in one CTC store and they have pretty well everything in the same places.

Appreciate the volume of products available but navigation in this place is haphazard without Covid-19 protocols in place. With them in place you probably should do a good intense warmup as you kinda need to be as nimble as a gymnast to just walk around least alone push a cart. For me I feel like a bull in a China shop with a cart there.

Staff was plentiful and helpful. The website is great, as it tells you how many of your item are in stock, and what asile the item is in. Makes covid shopping very fast and easy, as you don't have to wander around for 20 minutes looking for your items. Love C Tire!

My sisters took her car in a month ago for a trailer hitch. After having lunch locally, she returned to pick up the car and was told there is a leaking gas tank so the work could not be done. She decided to get a second opinion from another repair shop and was told that there is absolutely no hole or leak anywhere in the gas tank. She just saved 2800 on a replacement new gas tank or 1100 on a used that was never needed. I hate when people are taken advantage of. Pat

They were able to copy my mail key but not my apartment door key, they helped me to look for Allen key drill set, and we did not find one. I did get 90% of what I came in for. "Excellent" staff and service today and I have not always been able to say that about other Canadian Tire locations.
