I had a terrible experience with a senior stylist, Teona. She completely ruined my hair. I went in asking for blonde/light brown touch up on my roots and came out with black, grey, and blue hair with many pieces broken off in weird places due to damage. My hair is so dry and it is so uneven and a complete disaster. I was there for 5.5 hrs instead of 3 hrs and didn't even get it cut or styled. My hair is extremely long and it was very traumatic to have it ruined like this after growing it out for years and years.

Miss riley - I'm not even sure where to start. I was very nervous letting someone else touch my hair as I've had horrible experiences in the past(my hairdresser was on leave). I walked in on 0 sleep as I work nights & 8 1/2 months pregnant & Riley immediately made me feel comfortable and right at home!! She explained everything step by step including the proper products to use for my hair type. Not only was she very professional & personable, she does amazing work - cutting Curly hair is a challenge & she has my hair looking healthy & shiney with the perfect texture. Friendly staff and no complaints with my previous haircuts and colors despite my super curly hair. Only recommendation I would make for the recent manicure I had would be to have nail dryers when you get a manicure. Had a great basic manicure but left with nails not completely dry. I ended up getting them smeared despite all avoiding efforts prior to a Xmas party and had to personally redo a couple nails at home.

lovely salon and great customer service however after a brow wax that left me with raw skin and was performed by a stylist with open cuts on her hand and no gloves worn things only got worse. I sat watching my curly hair loose two inches too much as my stylist had no regard for me (the client in her chair) she talked to literally everyone in the salon but me even making conversation with other stylists clients and the lady at the front desk across the room while cutting my hair. Unfortunately a trip I was very excited for left me disappointed sad and regretting my choice my hair was at the bottom of my rib-cage and when i asked for three inches ended up just below my collar bones. I will never be returning and honestly would have probably had better results from a place that doesn't charge an insane amount of money.

I first heard of Melange Salon and Spa a few years ago. They were kind enough to donated a HUGE basket full of product and services to a fundraiser I was hosting in support of a local animal rescue. They put together such a beautiful basket and were more than happy to support. I recently moved closer to the area and thought I would give them a try myself. Coral and the entire team were amazing! Not only did they all make me feel comfortable (getting my hair done makes me very very nervous) but Coral also did a great job explaining the process to me and made me really excited to go back and continue my hair care with her. I already prebooked my next hair appointment and am trying out their other services this week. Highly recommend!!

I got a cut and 3/4 highlight about two weeks ago, and it was great! The stylist did an excellent job giving me rainbow colours that came in flawlessly and haven't faded much at all. The only remote issue is that the visit took three hours, but that was forewarned while I was booking it. If you're looking for a good colouring go with Lisa, she also told me that she has a specialty in Men's cuts as well! I loved it, and the cut was worth the price.

I am onto my third stylist (my second one just went on mat leave), and I stay for several reasons: - very professional, friendly, caring staff - ample free parking - prices of products and services in plain view (detailed receipts - first time that I have ever experienced that! Lovely!) - environmentally friendly/conscious I just had my first appointment with Sara and she is lovely! Still an apprentice, but very professional, thorough and meticulous. I would highly recommend Melange!????

This is the worst experience for last several years. Lady on the front desk said that they can fix it next Saturday. Jess. I returned to the Melange salon this Saturday. And that was great! The most I have ever paid for a root touch up was $100 so I was surprised when my root touch-up at Melange came to $213. That included a $25 leave-in treatment and $11 charge for long, thick hair but did not include a cut. The results were fine, but I could get the same results for less than half the price somewhere else. Unfortunately, the price was not discussed during the consultation, nor was the girl at the front desk allowed to reveal any pricing over the phone. Additionally, I asked for my hair to be shampooed with purple shampoo, which it was not. The stylist was friendly but did not ask me if I wanted my hair curled, straightened or blow-dried or how I wanted it parted. She also did not know how to use the salon app which I downloaded because there was a poster on the salon mirror telling me to download the app to see my rewards. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience and I will not be back.

I was very excited about this salon and honestly it was very nice and I did have a good experience. As a first time customer I was given some bonus stuff and I loved it. My stylist was very nice and listened to what I had to say and introduced me to some good products (Kevin murphey leave in repair is so great, and affordable!). One thing that bugged me a little was she blow dried my hair and told me it would be extra to "hot tool" it. I dont have the type of hair that can be blow dried and left, I need to style it or throw it up but I didn't want to pay extra for her to just run the straightener through it a bit so I declined and decided I would just go home and style it myself before heading back out to do my errands for the day. Kind of weird (I have never been charged extra for "hot tools") but not a huge deal. I was happy to schedule my next 2 appointments with the super nice receptionist and then I left. It was a little more pricey than I expected but I didnt expect to look at my emailed receipt and honestly almost cry. I booked in for a medium hair cut. My hair sits on my shoulders, in no way would I ever consider it long. It doesn't even all pull up into a pony tail! (I understand that it may be a matter of opinion but someone could have said something to me before hand). Now, it is a bit thicker but that doesn't justify me getting charged for a long hair cut AND cutting/styling extra length/thickness (it wasn't even styled enough for me to go out after. I had to go home and style it myself...). I think it may have been because the appointment ran long but that was because I was given a free hair mask for being a first time customer. I would have never taken if I knew I was going to be charged more for the extra time. I was kind of disappointed because I really do like this salon and the staff were super nice. I just don't understand why I was charged so much. I would recommend this place to others for sure, I would just suggest that you clarify the costs and maybe what your hair classifies as for length before hand. I honestly wouldn't have been so upset about the ordeal if it had just been the one extra charge but the styling extra length/thickness charge chapped me because I left with unstyled, damp hair after declining the extra charge for "hot tooling". Not trying to be mean to the stylist. She was very nice and did a very good job and I have already given one of her cards to my mom ... but I don't think I will be returning.

I started going to Melange about a year ago for a hair colouring and styling and at the beginning it was okay. I was actually scouting out a salon for my wedding and I wanted hair and make-up for 6 of us. After 3 hair appointments I called in to inquire about wedding services and the lady on the other end wasn’t very helpful. She told me they couldn’t accommodate for 6 ladies and they wouldn’t open the salon an hour early since my girls and I needed to be in by 8 and out by 11 at the latest. At this point I started looking for a new salon and went to Shanti’s at 10407 83 Ave (by far the best salon in Edmonton). I booked for hair colouring and styling and when I went for my hair appointment the stylist told me that the pervious stylist was colouring my hair incorrectly. In proper lighting we could both see how my hair had two different shades even thought I was only getting one very dark brown colouring. I was also told the pervious stylist had to be inexperienced to make this kind of mistake. I stopped going to Melange for hair in January 2010. My wedding was at the beginning of October 2010 and I wanted to get my nails done and an eyebrow waxing. I thought just maybe I would try Melange for these services, as the salon is so close to my house. WELL I should have learnt my lesson the first time. After getting the worst French manicure and eyebrow waxing I went home and removed the polish and re-wax my own eyebrows. I didn’t have time to get a new mani so on my wedding day I had clear polish which really didn’t cut it for one of the most important days of my life. My recommendation is stay far far away from Melange and spend your hard earned money on a real salon.

I will not be back I sent an email asking for clarification as I had the hybrid Polish which they claim lasts longer then regular polish but they will not do anything to rectify as they said there is no guarantee on how long the Polish will last on your nails... I'm a bit underwhelmed with my most recent service here. I went in for a simple trim with long layers. As usual the hairdresser took me to the sink to wash my hair. As I already use the hydrate me shampoo and conditioner by Kevin Murphy, I asked if we could use something else. I also explained that I have psoriasis on my scalp. She recommended the stimulate me shampoo. Though it did not cause irritation right away, it caused a great deal later, so I would not recommend this to people with psoriasis. I let her know I really wasn't wanting much off, we agreed on an inch trim, things went pretty smoothly for the most part. She was nice enough and asked how i'd like my hair styled. I don't do much to my hair on my own, so I asked for it curled. Because it was curled I didn't notice that the sides are cut unevenly. Even when I was noticing it at home, I thought I'd wait to wash it and see it uncurled. It is in fact about an inch shorter on one side. So she took off about 2 inches on one side and about 1 inch on the other. Pretty disappointing, Its pretty difficult to get out of the house to do anything for myself now that I'm a mom, but when I do I don't mind driving an extra bit and paying a bit more for my self care especially when it's a good experience. I chose this salon because of their green choices and because I had a hair treatment here almost six months ago with a different stylist that went really well. I'm terrible with names, so I don't recall her name, but I wish I had made sure I got put with the same stylist. Now I have no other choice but to put up with it being uneven or get the other side cut to match and have a cut shorter than what I wanted. Perhaps this stylist had an off day, I don't know, I'm giving them 3 stars still because I had a really good experience here the first time.

wouldn't recommend coming here if you need any maintenance done to your extensions, I had tape in extensions and they needed to be removed, a trained professional knows that they cannot use oil on any type of extensions. she used coconut oil then threw them into a pile in a bag I wasn't asked if I needed them washed or cleaned. once I called back to mention my problem I was given attitude and they made it seem like it was such a big deal that they had to clean them for free, I wasn't apologized to either. my extensions are worth 1500. after bringing them to melange I had to throw up a couple of pieces because the hair started falling out. if I could give zero stars I would.

I have gone to this salon for the last year or so. It is a nice location, a bit small. Staff is courteous and friendly. Unfortunately, I have found the quality of their colors and cuts to be very inconsistent. First, over-processing of hair caused significant damage and breakage. Next, another stylist put gentle highlights and low lights, helping to restore my hair overtime, while I patiently continued to grow out the damaged hair from the previous over-processing. Later, this same stylist, very nice, gave me a haircut that didn't work, which was fixed on a different day. The fix was well done. In-between, I had a few micro-trims, so my hair didn't have much shape. Then, my next haircut (style) didn't work again! There was no shape or style to it - just kind of a chop. I couldn't do anything in terms of styling it. Went back three weeks later for Holiday highlights and low lights, and mentioned that my last cut wasn't working well, showed her the chop on the one side - and asked her to please fix it. She promptly fixed it without discussing with me what she would do to fix it, then cropped it shorter at the back and straightened out the side that was choppy from previous "cut", which turned out okay, but then they charged me for a full haircut (again)! I have never before needed two cuts in three weeks, and never had to go back so often to a salon for fixes. I was told by the receptionists that my hair must have really grown in three weeks (what?); and later, that I always ask for preferential treatment. WHAT? I would just like my haircut and colors done properly and consistently, EACH time. Not sure what's up: they just don't seem to be able to get it right every time. I would have to say that they are inconsistent, and pricey here - they seem to worry more about their bottom-line than providing consistent quality service.

I liked how reception asks if you want anything to drink while waiting. I felt it shows good service. I decided to buy the series of 4 hydra peel facials. My first one was with Jess and I felt it was worth the money. The lights were turned down so no fluorescent light in your face, I was under a blanket (much like when you get a massage) which felt cozy, I got a headband so the lotions didn’t get in my hair which I appreciated, she also removed blackheads and did a quick neck massage, she told me what she was doing and was friendly. So I paid for all 4 facials and gave an 18% tip on the whole amount. My mistake. As I had each facial the quality of service went down with the last one being the worst. The next two facials were with Jess. No quick massage, no blackhead check, done quicker in general but still a decent facial (why not the same service each time?). Then the last time I had to change my appointment time. I was told all the available times and chose one in the morning this time. I didn’t find out it would be with a different person until i got there. I wouldv’e liked to know that Jess wasn’t available at that time and I would’ve changed the time accordingly. So someone else did it. No headband, no dimmed lights, no blanket (laying on tissue paper that you have to lay on in a doctors office), steps of the facial (that Jess was doing) were missing like wrapping the warm towel around the face numerous times to open pores. Jess stepped out of the dimly lit room with soothing music when the lotion had to sit on face to have that extra relax time, this girl stood in the flourescent lit room making chit chat like we were waiting for an egg timer. I was in and out in 20 mins. That’s what people pay 60 dollars for and to go get pampered at the spa? I can do that at home for cheaper. What these businesses have to remember is that potential new clients aren’t just people off the street. You don’t know what they do for a living. They could also be your competition and are learning from your mistakes. Every client and every experience with them should be a chance to show them how much effort you put in to get their business. Before and after you get their money.

Everyone was incredibly accommodating. My stylist knew exactly what to do from the moment I sat in the chair and was very cheerful and entertaining. Relaxing atmosphere. I fell asleep on the chair a few times but she didn't seem to mind. Will be coming back again! Thanks guys ☺️

First and last time I will go to this place. Went because of the good reviews but completely, undeniably regret it. Went in for a simple eyebrow wax (asked for very minor waxing... Just a quick tidy up) and left with eyebrows that were different lengths & shapes... It was brutally obvious and I was mortified! My first sign of something being wrong was how much she was hurting me. Eyebrow waxing has never been as painful as this experience. It was awful and I'm not even sure how you could let someone leave looking like that! Getting this service done usually makes me feel good about myself afterwards. This time I was speechless/in tears and just paid without saying more than 2 words and left. I raced home to get out my tweezers and eyebrow pencil to fix the horrible mistake this girl made. I had to go meet my parents afterwards and was completely embarrassed to step out in public and will be until my eyebrows grow back to how they were before! I STRONGLY suggest going elsewhere to get your waxing done, unless you want to walk out looking like a disaster. UPDATE: Owner of the business responded to my review very quickly and called me to give me a full refund, which was greatly appreciated. I will have to say that my bad review has nothing to do with the customer service aspect of their business, because they are doing very well in that regard.

Its always a bit nerve racking, getting paired with someone you haven't met. But so worth the bit of anxiety. I told the front end person I had to leave and she offered to move my appointment for another day , my event is today so that clearly doesn’t work. Used to love this place. Last time I went there they charged me over $75 for a haircut. It wasn't an awful cut, but it was a simple trim, nothing crazy and I felt that was a bit much. Then I tried to use an e-mail coupon they sent me (it had NO EXPIRY DATE) and was told it was expired. They even acknowledged that they forgot an expiry date but wouldn't honor it, citing that their owner/manager was recovering from surgey when she sent it and thats why she made a mistake. Ok fine, but thats not my issue, thats still on them. I got a bit upset after getting home, I just felt that I didn't have a great experience and they really should have honored that coupon. I contacted BBB, and after over a month still Melange has not responded. Could be a great place, but won't be going back, everything that has happened is just very unprofessional.

I found Melange online and decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did. Not only was the staff incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door, my stylist (Tana) was very helpful in helping me select a colour that was good for me and even helpful with the little details of the cut I wanted. It is a half hour drive for me, but I guarantee that I will not be visiting any other salons! I recommend this place to everyone!

Receptionist was very friendly and welcoming however my facial experience was less than satisfactory. My esthetician must be new because she had no idea what she was doing. She was reminding herself out loud of the steps of facial (Cleanser- extractions-scrub or cleanser-scrub-extractions). Spent 15 min on "consultation" and spent most of the time getting products from cupboard and arranging them. Whole thing lasted 45 min so my facial was less than 30 min with no facial massage. I'm all for learning experience for new staff but I definitely didn't get my money's worth from this visit.
