What I thought was going to be a nice “day off treat” for myself didn’t turn out to be THAT relaxing, I work in the spa industry and am well aware of the things needed to be done to make clients happy but I didn’t see that in Holtz spa. I got the hot stone massage with the eucalyptus steam room. When I first walked in I didn’t feel welcomed, I got checked in and brought me to the locker room, there I was left alone and was only told to keep my locker key in my pocket. I didn’t know where to go from there, when I finally got into the steam room there was no eucalyptus sense in there. Then I was bought up to the lounge to wait for my massage an to fill out the form, when I was greeted by the massage therapist I didn’t feel as if she wanted to be there at all, she brought me to the room, asked what kind of pressure I wanted and if I ever had a hot stone massage before (never asked if I wanted to work on a certain area or if I was in any pain). The massage wasn’t good, she RARLEY used the stones just working with her hands most of the time, at the end of the treatment I was left with a glass of water and had no future instructions as to where to go from there, leaving me to wander and try to find the stairs to the locker room. I took a shower and then went to pay. YES I know I should have said something when I was being checked out but there was a lot of people there and I didn’t feel the need to possibly embarrass anyone talking about how bad the service was. Seeing as this is a “high end spa” I was expecting to have amazing service, but I didn’t receive that at all.

I came here to get my lashes permed and usually I get them done by Bookie but she had called in sick and didn't make it to take me for my appointment. They set me up with someone else (forget her name) and she literally fried my lashes. My lashes were fried. I was in a rush so I didn't notice this until after. This really made me fear getting my lashes permed ever again.

I booked a last minute spa day due to rain in Ottawa while we were visiting. Andrea did my services and she was the most attentive and professional aesthetician I've seen in a very long time. The facial I had was amazing, I could tell she loved doing what she does. It's been 2 weeks and my skin is still glowing. My manicure lasted 2 weeks as well. I also had a pedicure and my feet were so smooth and my nails were cut perfect. She did a massage including reflexology and I almost fell asleep. If it wasn't a 6 hour drive for me to go back, I would be there regularly. Thank you so much Andrea, you are truly a gem and I enjoyed getting to know you.

Super let down. I thought I'd treat myself to a massage, mani and pedi and so I contacted Holtz to book. They emailed me back on a Monday to say the couldn't accommodate my booking on the Wednesday but could do "tomorrow" at 5. I emailed back with my credit card and received my confirmation Tuesday morning. I left work early to get there early as they suggest to take advantage of their spa amenities and checked in at the front. I was asked my name, offered a beverage and then told to hang my coat up. When I went back to the desk they were busy so I sat down in the waiting area. No beverage came and no one would make eye contact. Finally the second receptionist asked the one I spoke to "what the girl on the couch was waiting for" so I got up and she handed me a clipboard to fill out. I filled it out and handed it in only for the masseuse to say I wasn't the name she had down. The second receptionist then looked up my appointment and said it was in fact for Wednesday. Since I cannot take additional time off work that meant I had to cancel my appointment. They did confirm that the email said it was for today but the confirmation I was sent this morning was for Wednesday. I understand mix ups happen - in this case on both our parts. But I'm upset that I was left to sit there with no offered beverage even though I checked in and the first receptionist never so much as offered an apology.

A day of sheer bliss !! I decided to pamper myself and go for the full package... I spent six hours at the spa ....massage, Reiki, mani -pedi, lunch, facial and a wash /blow dry hair. My review might be a bit long but I hope it helps people to make the decision to definitely book and go to the Holtz Spa. The girls at the reception are beyond helpful with full smiles on their faces and don't mind doing anything to help you out. It's such a nice way to be welcomed into a spa. 1. Started off the day with Christine who did my massage and Reiki therapy. This woman has a touch that is utterly magical. She has been blessed with talents using her hands. My massage was divine and my Reiki session touched my heart beyond belief. 2. Destiny did my mani and pedi. She is so professional and made sure my hands and feet looked absolutely perfect. Besides that, the conversation that I had with her was fantastic! Destiny is a very compassionate person along with an amazing manicurist. 3. Time for lunch... Mandy and Dana are perfectly incredible. Mandy put together the most spectacular lunch ever and Dana made sure to pour me the best glass of wine to add to my relaxation at the spa. Such Fabulous Girls !! 4. Joelene worked wonders on my face. I had the best facial ever! My face was glowing at the end to a point I literally didn't want to wash my face for 2 days..Lol. 5. I was so lucky to have Megan as my stylist for my hair. Megan is truly adorable. I was so relaxed with the wash she gave me and her blow dry looked fantastic that has actually lasted me already four days. Don't think twice.... Just book the appointment at Holtz Spa and make sure you park your car with the valet so you don't have to worry about it all day long! Very thankful for a marvelous time !

Extremely disappointed to leave a bad review but the service was just brutal. I booked a massage for 3pm and had to sit there and wait for 40 minutes as the masseuse was running late. the girl at the front offered me a thai foot massage while i was waiting which I would've actually appreciated. She then forgot to tell the masseuse to come get me and when i went to ask she said "I thought you didnt want it" the masseuse finally got there. My massage was great but it was cut 10 minutes short for some unbeknown reason. I did not got any hot towels to get the Tiger balm off of me. Just plain disappointment. No discount offered or service for a following appointment.

My husband booked me for spa afternoon last week and I was not pleased in the least bit. The quality of nail polish for my shellac manicure and pedicure and choices are very limited and seem old because of the thickness. The girl I that did my pedicure was rough, it was not relaxing. My massage did not end up being a registered masseuse even though my husband asked for one....we are now out that money we could have used on our health benefits. The girl at the front desk seemed confused when we told her that it was supposed to be registered and my husband came to pay. Overall very disappointed.

To help me integrate the change of seasons, I booked an afternoon at Holtz Spa. I have lived in Ottawa all my life but never had the pleasure of using their services until yesterday. My experience exceeded my expectations. The staff are truly gracious, skilled and elegant. You feel supported and treated as an honored guest. I appreciated the locker, the slippers and the bathrobe and relaxing guest lounge room. I booked an ah-mazing massage with RMT Christine Lavoie. She was quick to find my trouble spots and expertly shift them with her healing hands. She could tell a lot about my body and life experiences based on my body and how things were aligning themselves. I found the experience with Christine extremely beneficial from a structural bodywork standpoint and a very relaxing pleasant spa experience from a pleasure one. After a short break and some complimentary tea in the guest lounge, I was placed in the expert hands of Hilda who did a delicious Ayurvedic facial. It was truly blissful. It was my first of this kind. The products that she used were high quality and made my skin shine in a good way!). She was knowledgeable and skilled in her process. I will be definitely booking again in 6 weeks time. I regret not sampling Holtz Spa before. I highly recommend a visit. Well worth the trip.

I had a pedicure here with my girl friends for a bachelorette this month. The pedicure costs a ridiculous $75 + tax and offered nothing outstanding to justify the price. They share the space with a hair salon. The environment overall felt more like a salon than a luxury spa. They had standard OPI nail polish, maybe only 40 colours to choose from. The lady who did mine rushed through the whole thing finishing 15 min before my other girlfriends. The polish on my toes looked a little streaky after they dried. I could have gotten the same pedicure at a budget Viet salon for $35. If this hadn't cost so much, I might have given it a 3-star.

I went to Holtz Spa for a facial to help with my skin concerns of enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation. I was also experiencing new-onset acne from wearing masks all day. I received an excellent treatment that left me healed and glowy for weeks after. The Babor products they use are pure and refreshing on the skin. My aesthetician was kind, thorough and knowledgeable about the science behind what she was doing to my skin. The atmosphere itself is also beautiful and relaxing. You don't feel like you're in a busy downtown location. It's subdued, neutral and calming... Everything you could possibly want! I look forward to visiting again soon!

I can count on one hand how many times I’ve left a bad review. Unfortunately, I am taking the time to write this since I had such a terrible experience. I booked a spa mani/pedi for my friends wedding the following day. Firstly, it was very overpriced for a mani/pedi. I sat for 45 minutes in the waiting room and was never offered a beverage til five minutes before my lady was ready. She was a very friendly woman with a thick European accent. Both my feet and hands were extremely rushed. Other employees kept reminding her she was running late and at 4, her next client was waiting. I left with an hour of hands on time spent with me. The shortest spa mani/pedi I’ve ever had and on top of it, my hands and feet looked no better except for the nails being painted. I frequent Ottawa and there are many spas that are much better for the price.

I booked b/c of the July promotion of a 30 min complimentary reflexology treatment- be sure to follow Holtz Spa social media, lots of great promos to take advantage of! Would highly recommend Holtz Spa and both services received below. My RMT Christine was phenomenal - she was efficient with the assessment intro, her pressure was consistent and her technique hit all the right spots, my 50min massage was incredible! Next, had the pleasure of receiving the complimentary reflexology treatment from wonderful Poon - she was professional, and the experience itself was new to me and very enjoyable, I would happily pay for this service in the future. Both ladies were impressive, thank you! For clients, the tip option is not available via the credit terminal, therefore bring cash with you in advance and in smaller denominations - the reception did not have enough change for me to leave more gratuity, which is the only thing I'd recommend as an improvement.

The perfect full service luxury spa in Ottawa. They are connected right in the same area to Rinaldo which has been around in Ottawa since the 1960’s. I come in to get my facial, massage, hair colour, cut and styled all in one relaxing area. Valet parking is extremely discrete, convenient and quick in the byward market.

My husband surprised me with a spa day at Holtz. We had been previously to Holtz a number of times and were expecting a nice day. To say our experience was less than enjoyable is an understatement. It was awful. When we arrived 15 minutes early (as instructed) we proceeded to wait for close to half an hour (after our services were to have started) to begin. Our scrub was lovely. Then onto our massage which was less than pleasant and seemed to be quite rushed. Did I mention we paid for 80 minutes? Lastly, our foot treatments. Here is where it gets exceptionally awful. My husband was so received some luxury foot treatment. It was about 20 minutes and anything but luxurious. My pedicure was mostly spent with the technician trying to remove my current shellac pedi. Not only was it painful, but the whole thing took well over an hour and half. And she left previous polish on my nails. My husband was sent to wait in the lounge for well over an hour, and we missed our lunch reservation. It was a horrible experience, and we will not be back.

Amazingly relaxing and feel good treatments every time I go (for over 10 years now: their facials are the best in town!) I have had the pleasure of experiencing their full day at the spa experience through Air Miles and I was pleased with how quiet and peaceful it was. One erk however... iphone watch use by the staff is not really appropriate during treatments (not any more than any other smart phone). First time I ever experienced that however. There are a couple of esthiticians there that I really adore. I really miss Santé restaurant!!

Worst pedicure EVER! I am so disappointed with the service I received. The esthetician spent about 15 seconds with the file on my right foot and not much longer on my left foot because she said I had no calluses. Came home and my feet were so rough that I had to exfoliate them myself!! She also didnt do a good job trimming my nails. She slapped some cream on and with her latex gloved hands, she rubbed the cream in. No massage and no reflexology even though I was told a reflexology massage would be included when I booked the appointment. It is even mentioned on their website. When I told the young woman at the front desk that I did not enjoy my pedi, she didnt even offer a fake apology. Nothing. She quickly processed my payment and that was it! What a nightmare!

The Spa is neat, clean and conveniently located downtown with a perfect relaxing and quiet ambience. People tell me they find it expensive but I find that specifically for massage with Christine and facial/microdermabrasion with Hilda, the prices are worth it! Christine has helped me so many times with pain in my neck and back, I can walk in having trouble moving and walk out relieved. Hilda takes the time to understand anything in your life that may affect your skin and why you’re having issues and always gives good advice on what to do. The front desk staff are awesome. I will continue to come here and recommend these services to my friends and family.

I can’t say enough to truly express how I was made to feel by the esthetician that gave me my facial. When I arrived I was asked to have a seat and wait. Within few minutes, I was greeted by Joelene who offered me something to drink and showed me where the powder room was. She was professional, friendly, and beautiful I might add! Nice to know the person who you place trust in with your skin is also well groomed, and obviously cares about her own skin. She explained every step before moving forward with every product she applied so I was aware of different sensations. My concern was aging, sun spots and even with just 1 application, I could see a difference. I decided on The OxyGeneo treatment and feel it was worth every $$$. I did not feel any sales pressure after my facial which also speaks volumes even though I did buy Dr. Babur’s products beause like everything in life, you get what you pay for! I can’t wait to return for another session of pure bliss with Joelene! The new location is set up differently than the old location, and I agree the reception area is not as relaxing because of the open concept but the Staff is phenomenal and once inside with your esthetician, the feeling is the same as it was at the other location....Pampered all the way!!

Hit and miss. Prices are a bit absurd. Facials and massages are good, had an incredible massage today. Never ever going to the salon again, they put way too much product in my hair and it gave me a massive headache, I went back an hour later to tell them as much and asked if they could just wash it out and leave it (could have done that for an extra $6.50 an hour and a half later, not entirely sure they would have done the wash without charging for a new style either)...waste of money and 2 hours of my time. Be careful with charges because they won't tell you what charges are added until you go to pay (might not even tell you then unless you ask). Services can take much longer than expected and don't always start when they say they will, so don't make and plans soon after and be ready to wait a while. Some really great staff, but overall not worth it.

I went for a pedicure and got a cut on my toe when the lady was filing my nails. it is very painful and a deep cut near my toenail. I was disappointed and when i called Holtz about it and all they offered is a cream. I am very disappointed and will not be returning to Holtz because for $80 pedicure, I don't expect this service and even worse is when i called they didn't solve the issue. i will take my business elsewhere.

Don't book with them. They'll give your spot away with no notice ON THE DAY YOU CALL TO GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFO. Completely trash customer service about it too. 0/10 will never try booking with this terrible company again. Had to arrange childcare before i could confirm, as well as get the card for payment, simply to be cancelled 15 minutes before i called to provide the info. This company clearly doesn't care about it's customers, i was also given 24 hours, not 48 as per the agreement, extremely disappointed and will never book here as they can't keep their word.

Joelene was like a breath of fresh air, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, she took the time to walk me through my skins concerns, talked with me at length about best practices and products for my parched and stripped skin, and left me feeling fresh and clean. I’d actually give 2.5 stars. My husband and I went for a couples massage a few months ago and it was great! Then I went for a single massage that was suppose to be 50 minutes - when I said it seemed a bit short I was told that was because of the time I took to use the washroom. Next time (a few days ago) I made sure I used the washroom first. I was with a new masseuse and this time I’m sure massage was even shorter than before. It was a great massage, but probably about 10 minutes less than what I paid for. So, good massages but I suggest bringing a stop watch with you! Edit - I’m not interested in „resolving“ the issue, I just won’t be back. Also, I go by my middle name.

Let me start by saying the spa itself is beautiful, peaceful, clean and conveniently shares a location with Rinaldo's hair salon downtown. The staff were also friendly and helpful so no issues there. I'm basing the 3 stars solely on the massage I received. First of all, I think it's strange that they offer a 50 minute rather than a 60 minute massage and they charge $99 which is the going rate for a 60 minute massage. I realize it's downtown but I believe other spas in the area are around the same price, for a 60 minute massage. Also, my therapist was late to my appointment and ended a bit early so I really only got about a 40 minute massage (I was 20 minutes early for my appointment). It was also disruptive that she used the tap water to get hot water for hot towels, they didn't have a hot towel caddy. Just a few of my thoughts on my experience. I would try this spa again for a pedicure or other esthetic service because it is a beautiful location, but not a massage.

Bring a lunch! I recently visited Holtz Spa to use a gift certificate that was given to me after I had my fourth baby...a year and a half ago. Needless to say, I was due for a day away from the kids and really looking forward to several hours of pampering. If only I had known there would be no food (or water!) While I completely understand the need to follow Covid-10 safety protocols and realise that it has been a very difficult year for so many in the service industry, I feel pretty strongly that I should have been notified ahead of time that there would be no food provided - or even a time/place to eat. After all, this was a 500$+ day. When I brought the lack of lunch up with front desk staff I was told it was mentioned in my confirmation email, which it wasn't - I read it about 18 times, because I definitely *do* have mom brain! In fact, in the description of the "Spa Day" on the Holtz website, it specifically mentions that a lunch will be served. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Not only was I feeling pretty awful from not eating all day, but when I found out from staff (around 11am) that there would be no lunch, it was not much fun to know I'd be going 5 more hours before eating ( I was there from 9am until about 4pm). I did, however LOVE my facial esthetician, Tassia who was professional, friendly and meticulous. I also had an AMAZING hair cut from Evis at the salon next to the spa (Fiorella). As I haven't heard back from Holtz regarding in person and emailed feedback, I am posting here, in hopes that at the very least, anyone planning a day there will take the food/eating aspect into consideration, and please, Holtz, update your website!

I have booked an appointment for a facial treatment one month in advance and when I get there to have my treatment I realized that they moved away from the old location, but nobody informed me about the change. I will never go there in the future. Ottawa is a third class city in the spa's world.

First visit at their new location. Booked three ladies in for massages. At first I had penciled in the appointments. I received a call the day before the appointments to confirm, but it was a very busy day, and I didn't get a chance to call back until the end of my work day. When I did call back, I found out that my reservation had been cancelled. Thankfully our spots were still available and I re-booked the appointments. 1 massage out of 3 was spectacular, the other 2 were just ok. No consistency between any of them. The main waiting room is bright white and noisey. We were not shown to the spa waiting room or offered a drink or shown to the bathroom. Overall, I preferred their old location and was very disappointed with the caliber of the service at the new location.

I celebrated my Birthday November 10th, a very good friend started my day with Happy Birthday signs all over my front lawn followed by breakfast at one of our favorite Restaurants and then proceeded into the city for a day at the Spa! We chose Holtz Spa because of the reviews. We went to the desk with no appointments hoping they would have place for two we wanted to spoil ourselves. We chose the package that included: massage, facial and pedicure, wow they had space. we went to get changed into our robes and was escorted to the relaxation room were we awaited our first treatment not knowing which we would have first. My therapist came to get me and I started with a massage (it was amazing) after it was a pedicure also very well done and finishing with a facial. I found it weird that throughout the day I never met up with my friend. When I finished I mentioned to the therapist that it was weird I had not seen her once, so she proceeded to go see if she was in one of the rooms but because the doors were closed to the treatment rooms she was unable to see her. I sat and talked with my therapist waiting for my friend to come out so we could talk about our great day! The young lady that greeted us in the morning came and let me know my friend was downstairs waiting for me and that she did not have any treatments???? To my surprise she did not have any treatments BECAUSE after I went in for my first treatment, she sat waiting for someone to come and get her after sitting for 1/2 hour with no one coming she was upset and proceeded to let them know that she was not going to have any treatments-NO ONE asked her WHY she did not what her package, after hearing what happened my fabulous day was no longer, if I had known I would had cancelled my appointments also. Both our packages were over $350.00 each, not very good customer service. I will not recommend your place. Beautiful day- left disappointed!! :(

Had a great Thai massage today. The only problem is that, when I called last Friday to book an appointment, the person asked me if I will need the receipt for insurance, so I told her that yes I will need one to claim for the insurance. She told me that there is no available one for Saturday, but Sunday there is a 2pm or 4pm available. I took the 2pm and went there today, and had a great massage. However, when I paid, that's the only time I've learned that the one they gave me is not registered. So I can't claim my receipt to the insurance company. Massage is great but this miscommunication is not good for my pocket. In answer to your response. Yes, I do not use my other email and name for public to see. But I will call tomorrow.

I had the most amazing European facial at holtz spa. I was completely in heaven. My skin was so smooth after (and still is a week later) my partner also enjoyed a 50 minute massage which he loved. The spa is located inside of Ronaldo's and the decor is stunning. You don't feel like you're in Ottawa anymore ???? It's so beautiful and comfortable. The lounge is so quiet and peaceful, I could sit there in a robe with a tea for hours. If you're looking for a great facial, or massage, and wondering where to go, this is definitely the place. Have had a great experience at both the hair salon and spa side. Meghan was great and took everything into consideration delivering a great simple hair style and cut. Several weeks later I came for a facial with bhuki and it was amazing! She was able to identify the areas that I had concerns with, gave me suggestions on what to do and to add to that a great facial! I do wish that the spa was similar to other spas I have been to where there are steam shower rooms. That would truely add to the abience and experience. Overall, great experience overall. Also love that they have complimentary coffee/tea so make sure to arrive at least 30 min before your appointment to enjoy & get into the mode of relaxation.

My first experience was getting a hair cut which went well. It was relaxing and the hairstylist did a beautiful job. Don't go for eyebrow waxing. I went twice and was disappointed and dissatisfied both times.I usually wax my own eyebrows but I messed them up so badly she had to fix them. She cleaned them up a bit and told me to grow them out and come back (she didn't do much and kept nagging me about self waxing). So I grew them out in all bushy greatness and went back. She barely waxed them, and the tail ends have patches. It was an awful job almost as bad as mine. She then tells me to grow them out again and come back. No I won't be back, it's embarrassing.

They had a great 'quiet' area where you could sit and relax. Some of the ladies provided good customer service while others not so much. I booked an appointment for a massage. I arrived about 30 mins earlier so that I could enjoy the amenities, but that was pointless. I thought I could settle in, put my stuff in a locker, get a robe on and relax in a lounge. But they did not offer any of those amenities. I instead had to wait in the main waiting room until my appointment time. There was no change room and no robe offered to me. My RMT was great however, so I left her a nice tip. Just not the spa experience I expected.

Went to Holtz downtown today and all i have to say is AMAZING!!!! i had a 80min sports massage and the guy Chris was incredible. I must say it was a bit painful cause it's a deep tissue massage and i was really sore, but walking out of there, i felt great. no back pain or leg pain. The price was so worth it and i got a receipt for my insurance. A must try place for sure. I participated in an event called 'Pampered Professionals' and had my hair and makeup done as well as a massage. I am so happy with the way the Maryam did my hair (and I smiled when I noticed we had the same name!). I also really enjoyed my massage and the way my makeup was done was beautiful. Also the glass of Prosecco and snacks were an excellent treat! The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because upon arriving for my massage, I was told to wait in the busy salon instead of the quiet waiting room reserved for massage clients, I also did not receive coffee or tea as I waited. This isn't ideal considering in other spas I have been to this is standard. In addition, after all of my services were completed, I had to remind the staff twice to provide me the small promotional gift as part of their event. I wish the staff had pro-actively offered this to me instead of relying on me to remember. In spite of these two minor things, I still really enjoyed my time there. I will definitely be back for the salon but not for the spa services.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Worst spa experience I've ever had. If I could give negative stars I would! Booked an 80 minute couples massage, apparently someone messed up and only booked us for 50 minutes and didn't tell us. We arrived 15 minutes early to fill paperwork. We were taken into the massage room at 3:45 and they were done massaging us at 4:17. The whole thing felt rushed especially considering we were expecting 80 minutes. The massagers were not RMT's (we found this out later) but charge more than an RMT, the masseuse was attempting to massage bone!! When we disputed the short time, even for a 50 minute massage, the girls at the desk said they couldn't do anything about it more than offer us a complimentary foot treatment (we are from out of town) or that we could talk to the spa director who wouldn't be in until Tuesday. It cost us almost $260 for about a half hour worth of massage each by people who aren't even qualified massage therapists. Do not go to this spa! What a huge rip off and it completely ruined our weekend getaway. Horrible. The owner has no integrity or concern for customer service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where the staff and owner care about their clients and customer loyalty mean something to them.

Went for the couples romance package. Great hospitality, lovely pedicure. The snack (charcuterie board) and tea options were delicious but the setting was a little noisy for a romance package. The massage, wow. I mentioned my problems with my shoulder and the masseuse said (jokingly) that I was going to cry and she did not let back. She was aggressive but in the right way and it helped tremendously. My girlfriend was treated with a Thai experience and enjoyed as well. The final foot scrub was a great way to end the day.

Holtz Spa is simply the best spa! I’ve had several treatments - my favorite has been the advanced European facial. I have suffered from teenage and adult acne, and I have to say that my skin has never been better! The staff is extremely professional and knowledgeable and know how to make you feel pampered. I highly recommend Holtz Spa!

If you want to enjoy the sights and joys of the City but also be immersed in to a day of pampering and relaxation, Holtz Spa is the perfect destination. Location is optimal, it is RIGHT downtown, near anything and everything you could desire. Once you enter the spa you are treated like a rockstar, there is always plenty of staff on hand to be kind and helpful and cater to any desire you may need. I went in with two of my girlfriends for a wash/cut/style (with Kate, who I would most definitely trust with my hair again!), manicure (with Marie- who was so chatty and sweet and gave us all a good laugh with her interesting stories) and a relaxing foot detox rub. The whole experience was terrific, great ambience, the staff is well trained and so polite, and your spa needs/options are endless. I highly suggest going to Holtz for a relaxing day with the girls or your significant other.

I was on vacation in Ottawa two weeks ago and wanted to treat myself to a spa day. After much consideration I decided upon this place and I cannot explain my dissatisfaction. I was running a few minutes early and filled out some paperwork then was sent to change. The robe and sandals wouldn't fit at all, couldn't really close the robe and I could only fit about half my foot in the sandal. I get that I am plus size and it was likely made for a OS fits all, but they should have one or two bigger sizes kicking around. It highly embarrassing to have to continuously hold the robe closed in a public environment. By the time I was changed it was a few minutes past my appointment and I went to sit in the lounge. I sat there for probably 20-30min which is absolutely ridiculous. Many workers walked past me and didnt say hello or smile, nothing. Finally someone came to get me and took me in for treatment. The treatment was good but I felt very rushed and it was highly impersonal. The feeling was not 'relaxing spa day' but 'let's get this over with I've got other places to be'. Once again I found that the little underwear wouldnt fit, literally got them on and they snapped and ripped, that was the end of those. The worker was very pushy about purchasing the product and referrals for more business which I did not appreciate as it was not subtle in the least. When she was doing the hair oil treatment she burned me and got a bunch of oil in my eye. After telling her there was oil in my eye she argued with me whether or not it was gone. One of the reasons I picked the Bindi Bliss package is because it came with a massage portion, let me tell you there was no massage! She rubbed lotion on the back of my calves and that was the end of it, I wouldnt even say rubbed though, like one run of a hand up my leg. I was sent into the salon portion to have the product washed out of my hair, she let me know wearing the robe in would be completely normal. There was not a single other person in a robe. I cannot tell you how awkward and embarrassed I felt, especially since I couldn't close the robe properly! I sat there in the wash chair for a long time, one of the desk ladies came and told me they were having trouble finding someone with time to do me. She ended up coming back and washing my hair. Then I was left again until they could pass me off. I had a man who was just lounging on a couch on his phone who acted like I royally disturbed him. I have curly hair and he didnt know how to style it so it just got straightened. Again I was pushed with what I was going to be purchasing. I cannot tell you how excited I was to just get the hell out of this place. The price as advertised also ended up being almost $50 more. I didnt complain as I didnt have the patience or time but I can tell you right now lighting my money on fire would have been better bang for my buck.

Relaxing spa with great service in Ottawa. The only downfall or negative thing is not having a steam/sauna/jacuzzi/pools; but the location is great and the treatments are worth it. Great to pop in and out or spend the day. 5 min walk from my place which makes it even better.

I have been to various places for relaxation massage and by far my best experience have been at Holtz with Christine. She has Heavenly hands and I feel like she does magic to the muscles! You will feel the difference when walking out of the massage session with her. Needless to say that she's super friendly and patient. Highly recommended.

I agree that Christine is wonderful for a massage, hands down. The atmosphere is great (on the spa side. The hair side is too hectic) Don't book a pedicure or manicure just yet. The new girl needs to redo her training! This is painful

Booked an appointment for my husband for a massage. The girl on the phone suggested that I get a specific package, sounded great and Manly so I booked it. Made plans to go out for dinner afterward. Gave my husband the gift certificate and the date and time for his massage. On the day he arrived a bit early, the girl at the front told him there was no appointment booked for him, offered a different massage package along with an hour wait. He called to let me know and I asked to speak with the receptionist. She apologized and said that he wold be taken care of, I told her that this was a scheduled day and we had dinner plans she said no problem as soon as she could she would get him in He said no biggie. k fine. met him at the Spa. Went in and I have to say Ew to the decor. Looks like late 80s and not very clean, for the amount they charge you would expect something a little less dated. Went to receptionist and told her who I was and the situation. She again apologized and offered a Foot Spa Package for Both of us as compensation. I agreed to it and booked the new date. Hubby came out and went to dinner. On the return for the Foot Spa day we were let in right away. I had never been to a spa and so I was excited :) Sat and soaked our feet while we waited for the ladies. When they came in the girl working on my hubby went to it right away drying his feet and then massaging away. My girl lifts my foot out of the bath and says Oh! You have big Feet eh? Really wide. Mortified as everyone in the room turned to look at my feet. She then proceeded to ineffectually rub my feet while she stared out the window. finally finished cause I couldn't wait to get out of there she says to me Next time you should get a pedicure to take care of those calluses. I said good news is there will be no next time but thanks for the tip. I left very unhappy and at the counter we turned in the certificate and the girl smiles sweetly and says Oh it's customary for you to tip. My husband was happy with his service but I said no way. we offered to tip 15 for the ONE girl, explaining the way I was treated. She smiles and proceeds to charge 30 on my hubbys card. I was furious but my husband ushered me out before i could get anywhere. I recommend you do not go here if you are looking for a good experience

I had a great massage this past weekend and I'm still feeling relaxed. The one thing that could be improved on is the noise in the hallway near the massage rooms. Installing carpet or placing rugs on the floor would minimize the sound of all the footsteps I kept hearing.

I got a deep tissue massage from Christine Lavoie and lemme tell ya, she is the TRUTH! First of all, she's been an RMT for 22 years and her ability to gauge my needs was impeccable. I told her about an old injury of my sacrum and she was able to palpate how my body had compensated in the alignment of my hips. She actually did a lot of cool roundabout techniques, sometimes lower back pain was allieviated by massing from the stomach. Undoing tension from the front helped me to relax in my back. It was wild! She found that my shoulder was slightly misaligned and she set it correctly again. Afterward, I was walking with such ease, better posture, and feeling lighter than air. The best part is that it has improved my workouts. I told Christine that I got hip flexor tension and lower back pain when I would go running. And I'm pleased to report that the pain has dissipated now! My yoga workouts are easier now too, I feel like there was tension that prevented some flexibility. Honestly it felt like a cross between massage and physiotherapy, and I'm here for it.
