Nice modern facility. Unfortunately the staff does nothing about those noisy aggressive types who constantly slam weights down over and over again or scream into their phones for an hour, disturbing everyone else! When we suggest putting up signs all over the gym about noise or damaging the equiptment, like other gyms? They look at us like huh?

Nice new building, but definitely not a family friendly facility. Went with our family to check it all out for a couple hours, and found we needed to give way too much information at the front desk. This included taking pictures of our children and everything. Afterwards we went to check out the pool, and found it downsized for lane swimming. Since the entire facility is made of concrete, it was really cold every where. We checked out the gym, and it looks massive. Overall, we got the feeling this wasn't really a public or family facility, it was more a Laurier Student building, and the outside public would be tolerated. I think we will be sticking with Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre for our membership.

Quality of the facilities are great, but the customer service and communication - not so much. Staff provide inaccurate/incomplete information for general inquiries such as swimming. There seems to be a discrepancy when it comes to serving non-YMCA members. I understand desk staff are young University/high school kids, but they need better training when it comes to knowledge of programs and providing the public with all the information they need. Disappointing.

Im here for the pool so I wont comment on the gym. The pool is clean, pretty quiet, not too much chlorine. There is a good amount of lane swim time and space. They have some simple equipment for use: flutter boards and pull bouys. I hope they keep a lane open during classes. Hot tub is a problem and is often closed...not sure why. The sauna is usually ready but never gets very hot. The adult change area is well worth it for the steam room alone. No kids around makes for a relaxing experience. And no wet towels to drag around because they provide them.

Nice new gym. Not friendly for family of toddlers as structure parking is far away. Accessibility doors were not working (doesn't help when you are trying to get a stroller in). Some of front desk people didn't know how to answer some of my questions. Hoping things will work out better when they get their head in the game in the next few weeks!

Very nice new facility with a variety of activities for everyone. Membership is high for the whole family so we just pay per use instead. Lots of classes and programs offered. Pool is very nice for an early morning swim to start the day. Wish they were open at 5:30 on the weekends too.

A brand new building with a great swimming pool and two large workout areas with new equipments. The group fitness classes are great too. The best thing about this YMCA is the Spa, a great place to relax after a hard workout. Go there everyday.

I went there to check it out the past Sunday 18th, the female staff working on the front desk was very rude, not nice and friendly like the old YMCA at all, was considering to get a membership there, but she ruined my feelings about YMCA, I'm going to others.

As a senior with 2 arthritic knees I've been waiting for this pool. After having read some of these reviews I'm not sure I want to bother with it. I am slow and have water exercises to do, and usually find any pool with lap lines is often being used by rude people that think they are more entitled and I always end up leaving. Seniors rates would be so welcome to those have worked hard for so many yrs, and now living on a fixed income. Just not feeling too optimistic now but will reserve my decision after trying at least a couple of times. ????

Went there yesterday for swimming with my boys and just loved it. It is super nice very clean, very spacious and friendly staff. They have lane pool, a smaller pool and a whirlpool. Very enjoyable for the whole family. The only 'complain' is that there's no parking ON site. There's a parking lot across from the YMCA but I believe you have to pay and a few 2 hour parking spots on the side of the building. Definitely coming back:D

The Brantford YMCA is the nicest looking location I have visited and I have visited a lot of YMCA's in my lifetime. The pools and workout areas are very modern, neat, and tidy. The staff are very personable and the hours of operation could not be more accomodating. I would be happy to give them 5 stars but I will only give them 4. This is why: There are no weigh scales in the change rooms where they would be most handy to track your accurate weight. You have to get dressed and go up a floor to the workout area and weigh yourself fully clothed. This is an easy fix and has been mentioned to the staff. Another peeve is the lockers. They are almost all half lockers which is way too small. In the winter if you walk to the YMCA you better not bring your coat or you'll need two lockers and hence two padlocks. This is another simple fix but it hasn't happened yet.With these two minor problems fixed I would say this particular YMCA is the best in the world.

The facility is new, spacious and convenient for those in this part of town. Pros: - You get 2 hour free parking on the streets or 2 hours at the parking garage (you get 2 parking tokens from YMCA) - Huge swimming pool with a small pool and sauna nearby - They provide useable towels and disinfectant bottles throughout the facility - Good selection of workout equipments - There are countless emergency call buttons located throughout the facility to allow for quick response - THRIVE program, which is new here, is included in the membership and is worthwhile to check out - Big gyms and basketball courts for use or rent - The fitness instructors are very friendly and fun. They make the classes fun and interesting. - There are a number of chairs and tables set up on the ground floor that allows you to see what is going on inside the swimming pool Downsides: - Not enough classes are offered during various parts of the day, some of is due to the fact that the rooms are being used by Laurier for classes. - Most of the lockers are half sized, only like 30 of them are full sized, which makes it very difficult to store your stuff in the winter with a bulky winter jacket. - Some of the staff are a bit ignorant, slow or oblivious. There were a few times I had to wait a while just to get parking tokens. Also, when I first signed up, the staff didn't even offer to show me around the place when it was obvious the place wasn't busy and it is very confusing to find your way around the first couple times. In addition, a comment made by a staff was rude and uncalled for. - Parking time limit is very restrictive when it comes time to attending classes followed by workout followed by waiting forever for parking tokens at the front desk. - There is signage in the middle of the building when you pass through the gates. But after you exit the change room, you have to go into the stairwell to see signage indicating where fitness centres, other studios, etc are. On the second floor, there is no signage on that level to show where studio B is as it is more hidden and not as obvious as studio A. - The walls are so bare and all you see is concrete. Would be nice if they showcased some local art here and there There is a Healthy Rabbit food and smoothie bar but it is not operational at the moment.

I've been a member of the Brantford YMCA for quite awhile now. The new facilities are pretty great. The pool is a wonderful addition and I find myself swimming laps more than hitting the gym these days, but that still counts right? If I had to give any constructive criticism it would be that the ondeck sauna never gets hot enough(but not sure I should be sweating too much while wearing a chlorine soaked bathing suit anyway so maybe for the best that's more of a warm room than a sauna), and the cardio room gets too hot. Also the free weight and weight machine gym seems small and cramped while the cardio room is big with lots of unused space. But.. That aside it's an amazing addition to the downtown area of Brantford with top notch gym equipment and quite possibly the best basketball court in the area.

Terrible new facility,, I have been to the ymca in Kitchener and Waterloo and both are wonderful to take kids swimming! Unfortunately this new ymca in Brantford is terrible, the staff is rude, the swim area is small and thay ID you before entering the building! I think I will continue to use the Wayne Gretzky Center to take my children!!!

I really enjoy going to the gym! I've tried Crunch fitness last year, and this coming year I will be trying out the YMCA. Plus it's really close to where I live which makes it easier to get to. It has all the amenities i need for a gd day at the gym, a pool, a sauna, steam room, gymnasium, and friendly staff to help you out if needed!! The rates aren't that bad either!! $41 bi weekly for my son and I with 2 guest passes a day which Crunch Fitness didn't offer unless u paid for the most expensive plan!!

Went swimming on Mother's Day with my hubby & son. Since it was our first visit, we were given 2 free complimentary visits!! (The memberships are very reasonably priced!) Not only that, they were giving out 1 month memberships to Mom's! The staff was also very helpful, polite and made sure to explain how to get around the new facility. There was a kiddy pool as well as the large pool. My son isn't quite confident at swimming yet so the kiddy pool was perfect for him! The one thing I noticed missing though was driving boards - there is no diving. Otherwise, all-in-all it was a great time and we really enjoyed our time at the new YMCA facility!

This gym has swimming pool lap pool sun gym work out space but if you won't a personal trainer whether or not your on asstance it cost $50 and up just for a hour. Bring in your I'd and your government assistance check stub to prove your on assistance and you well get a discount. They accept credit cards / cash / preautherized payment from any of this and your bank what ever works for you. They pro rate there prices which Is good It's location is good but there is no place to safely store your ebike or bike the hours of operation are very good People whom go here.

We went to public swim and my nephews were visiting, the front staff didn’t inform me earlier that I could only watch 2 kids if they were unable to pass swim test. We wasted our afternoon, had to get out the pool in 10 mins and leave. Poor customer service and pool lifeguards are helpless.

Very large and spacious facility. Went to multiple gyms before but nothing close to this facility. This place has huge gymnasiums, fitness rooms, weight room, swimming pool, and the best thing as a customer is that it isn't as crowded. I hate when the fitness rooms and weight rooms are clustered and when machines are not available but never had any of those issue at this location.
