Quiet spa in suburbs. All professional staff excellent Products are Jan Mirin and Dermalogica. Both excellent. Provided with wrap robe and a locker. Tea after treatment. Felt refreshed after 90 minutes. Moderate prices well worth every penny.

Since I recently moved to Edmonton, I was looking for a new massage therapist. Crystal was everything and more. Not only did she provide a relaxed atmosphere, but she went above and beyond. Her treatment helped relieve stress on the muscles and she used her experience to help stretch those areas out as well. I highly recommend UR for all your self care needs!

I went with both my sisters and our mom for group pedicures. We were treated like gold. Exceptionally clean and modern facility, excellent quality products and very skilled staff. We all had a wonderful experience and I was so impressed that they could accommodate all 4 of us with only a week's lead time, on a weekend with no issue. Urban Retreat has always carried top of the line products and hired great staff and it is obvious that they take great pride in what they do.

I phoned to ask about an express gel manicure. The receptionist was a young girl with no experience. I asked the price and she was uncertain and took a very long time before giving me a price. It was double what everyone else was asking so I asked her to check again. Instead of checking with someone more experienced she answered, "yep, that's the price". If I can't get certainty and professionalism at the front door, I'm not going any further and won't give you my hard earned money.

I've been to Urban Retreat twice now, once for a facial and once for a waxing. Both times, the aestheticians were great. They were friendly, attentive and made me feel comfortable. Top notch there. The front desk staff however, leave something to be desired. On my last visit, I bought a $65 facial moisturizer, only to get it home and realize it was expired. I took it back, the front receptionist checked with her manager and then told me it doesn't really expire. If the manufacturer prints an expiry, I'm going to follow that. They reluctantly processed my return and when I thanked her at the end, she basically just grunted at me. No apology, no recognition that it was expired. I basically felt like I was just an inconvenience to her. Both times, I've not felt particularly welcomed by the receptionist and that's the reason for 4 stars. The first contact with a business really needs to reflect the product they provide, and this just doesn't happen here.

This morning I went to Urban Retreat for a facial. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism from all the staff. My esthetician Katie was so sweet and thoughtful making it extremely relaxing. She made the entire experience very customized to my skincare needs. Katie took the extra time at the end of my appointment to help create a custom skincare routine that works best for me. She is very knowledgeable on all of the products and made this one of the most relaxing spa appointments I have ever had! I would recommend this spa to everyone they go above and beyond for their clients. To my surprise two hours after my appointment a package with some sample products, nail polish, and hair accessories was delivered to my house. This is 100% the best spa in Edmonton they go above and beyond the highest standard of care.

Today I visited the spa for the essential facial. Brooklyn was my esthetician and she was incredible! She was thorough and very gentle on my skin especially around the eyes. She is very knowledgeable and gave me great product recommendations. She was also so sweet — in fact everyone I interacted with today was so kind. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing, I really love it here. If you’re thinking about a spa day, Urban Retreat is the place to go.

I went for a facial sometime in June, not my first time here. Wanted someone to clean and hydrate my face skin throughly. When I booked I asked for an hour long facial. I can't remember the name of the lady who did it, but my complaint isnt with her. She did upsell me to a hydro facial (or something like that, she used a suction machine) I didn't ask for a price first (my bad) I was looking forward to getting my skin cleaned out. I figured about 50 bucks more. The appointment didnt last 45 mins. When I left my bill was $150 not including tip. I paid and went about my day. 5 hours later I get a call from the front desk telling me they are going to charge me an additional $45 dollars because I was presented and paid the wrong bill!!!!! Like it's my fault or something. I told them no, I will come in and pay the remaining balance. What the hell!!!! I came in later in the afternoon and paid the rest because of their mistake. I also commented a 45 min facial is most definitely NOT worth $195! My facial didnt feel any different then the $100 ones Im used to receiving. I get this stuff is expensive (I should've asked prices before saying yes) but to have them call me back to pay because of their mistake without apology is bad. THE PRICES ARE REALLY HIGH.

Urban Retreat is truly exceptional! Each service they offer is administered by a skilled and professional therapist or esthetician. Every staff member I have encountered has been very kind, friendly, and engaged. All the people are genuinely happy while at work. Its a great atmosphere, and a beautiful facility. Every treatment I have received has been luxurious and revitalizing. The product line is premium and reasonably priced. There is a large selection of items available to purchase, including some unique gifts. Scheduling is a breeze either online, phone, or in person. I absolutely LOVED my first visit to Urban Retreat! Right when I walked in the lady working at the front desk greeted me enthusiastically. She was professional and friendly. The building was very clean and organized, which provided a relaxing atmosphere right from the start. The lady that did my facial was very kind and she took the time to explain lots of the skincare and the process to me while still allowing time for silence and relaxation. Overall I would say that this was the best facial I have ever had! I would recommend this place to anyone who asked and I will definitely be returning here in the future.

I booked the 90 minute spa massage after a friend highly recommended it. As someone who receives massages monthly at locations across the city and spa getaways on occasion, I was looking forward to a full spa massage and really pampering myself for the afternoon after a busy week. I can honestly say, the experience was no different than a massage offered at any other massage company. I showed up 20 minutes early as my friend advised to experience the steam room noted in the description, and the reception offered me a waver to fill out and then had me sit in the front office for twenty minutes. She did not escort me to a waiting room, offer me a beverage or advise on where the steam room was. As this was my first time at Urban Retreat, I was confused as the experience did not feel ‘spa like’ at all but waited in front of reception for my therapist to great me thinking she would advise on the steam room. Instead, we went straight to the room and she began the massage. The massage itself was good, but in honesty was no different than a massage offered at other companies. Afterwards, I waited at reception for a few minutes before paying as one of the receptionists was on the phone. The other when arrived (after 2-3 minutes) asked what I needed- I said I needed to pay, and instead of asking me how my treatment was, all she asked is if I wanted to rebook, it felt very much like a money grab, and once again, not ‘spa like’ at all. The treatment before and after the actual massage was not good and definitely did not live up to their reputation. Overall, I was very disappointed in my experience as I did not receive what I paid for- no steam room and no spa experience- and for 170$ it felt like an extremely overpriced, regular massage. I’m not sure if the receptionists were just having a bad day, but the fact that my experience was totally different than what a friend received two weeks prior for the same price was a huge disappointment.

I've tried a facial treatment during my pregnancy, and first I wanted a chemical peel, but the therapist replaced it by another, more gentle, because of the pregnancy. I was ok with that, but it felt like my regular peeling that i use to make at home. After the baby was born, I've got a promotion on email, and decided to take the laser treatment. I made an appointment for consultation, and the therapist told me to that we can do the chemical peel now, instead. She knew that I'm breastfeeding, but we agreed that I'll pump before the treatment. What I actually did. But 10 min. before the treatment, I've got a call from the therapist, she told me that we can't do the chemical peel, because they don't responsible and bla bla... They had almost a week to tell me about that, and my spouse took two hours off from work to sit with the baby specially for that purpose. She suggested more gentle peel instead:))) And when I refused, she just said "ok") Seems like it doesn't matter which treatment you'll choose. The stuff is not professional, and I even don't want to buy products that I used to. Will not recommend this place to anybody.

Called to book a 75 minute Spa Massage advertised on their website. The woman told me she only had time for 60 minutes and I said sure. Little did I know she meant a regular massage. When I got there the same woman I was on the phone with (clearly the manager or owner) was snappy and abrasive towards me. And although my massage therapist was amazing I’m just generally disappointed in the management.

I've been to a number of spas for facials but Amanda at Urban Retreat is by far the best! She is very knowledgeable and professional and treats you like an individual, not just another paying client. She took the time to find out my concerns and made recommendations for treatment accordingly. I notice results after every facial because Amanda treats based on need rather than just getting you in for another appointment. She is friendly, positive and someone I would highly recommend seeing at Urban Retreat!

While the technicians who gave my group pedicures were lovely, I am very disappointed in the way this spa is managed and how they deal with issues that arise. I booked pedicures for a group of 6 and was clearly quoted a price over the phone. Following the pedicures, upon payment, the actual price was 50% higher than initially quoted. The situation was uncomfortable for every guest involved, and I paid to avoid awkwardness on what was meant to be a special night out for a friend. The next day, I called the spa back to express my discomfort with the experience and ask if there was an explanation for the price discrepancy. I was essentially told that it was impossible that I was quoted the price I had been given, but that my concern would be passed on to management and I would receive a call back shortly. 3 weeks have passed and I never heard from the spa again.

I have been going to this spa for over 8 years now and I absolutely love it. Yes, I have my favourites, Sarah D. and Jocelyn P. are the best!! I usually get pedicures and manicures and these girls go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and like you are amongst friends. Very welcoming environment and just an all around great spa. No wonder they are voted the best spa in the city year after year. They will be closed for Reno's thos October and I'm excited to see the finished outcome! They have definitely made a loyal customer out of me!
