You must have seen that its rating is virtually the best, and it's based on a high number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the score is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to give their opinion when they are satisfied, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Spa corresponds to the category of Spa.
Update: I have updated my review to 4 stars based on the customer service and the company's commitment to listening to customer feedback both positive and negative. I had a conversation with Jody Cole who was appreciative of my feedback and offered her apologies for our experience. This is one of the few places that I have come across that takes their time to make sure their customers are satisfied and as such I appreciated the efforts. ----- We visited the Nordic Spa in May and had a couples massages first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, both my husband and I were not satisfied with the massages we received at the spa.. the quality of the massage and the experience were not what we expected given the price we paid! This did ruin our overall experience. Overall the facility was laid out really nicely. If we do come back in the future, we wouldn’t pay for a massage again and would likely just do a day pass, if at all.
I Love coming here & spoiling myself at the Spa with my partner.
We spent about 4hrs there and the four of us really enjoyed the saunas, pools and the bistro! The service was friendly, courteous and attentive. Had a great time!
This business rarely answers their phone. Would probably give 5 star if I could make contact and book an appointment.
Awesome place to go for a few hours to relax.
The facility offers towels/lockers/refreshments and a great variety of hot/warm/cold pool options. Expect to pay a limb for the entrance though - jk, it was a bit expensive. But it was worth it.. I think ????
Very beautiful location, friendly staff, cozy robes, good facilities. Lacking mostly in cozy rest areas. They only have insulated hammocks and fires that are rarely hot enough or a restaurant that you have to buy food in. Would like a place to relax that can still be social. Definitely need some indoor rest areas.
Wow is all I can say! We went for 2 hours before dinner and did the plunge pools (hot, medium and cool). So relaxing and intimate as it wasn’t very busy.
Weekend getaway with girlfriends. So beautiful and relaxing.
Super relaxing place. The new quiet area is really nice to have open. The steam rooms can get very hot! The scents added are really nice for breathing.
Beautiful place, well worth the drive!
Amazing massage and really nice pools with a lot of steam rooms and saunas
This place is amazing. Very cozy and relaxing. Staff is very friendly and the place is very clean.
My first time here and I enjoyed every moments of it. I was able to relax, unwind and detach from the world, but also challenge myself to last 15 minutes in the cold pool. It was awesome.
Best to go early on a week day; fewer people and if wasnt crowded. The variety of options (pools, saunas, steam rooms, etc.) Very friendly staff, too.
I had booked a 90 minute aromatherapy massage for 30-Sep-2019 during the 1st week of August ensuring I would have access to the pools as without a massage it is on a first come first serve basis. When I booked they made NO mention that they were in the process of expansion I only found out when I visited their website the other day. Hidden in the site you find " We are doing a major upgrade to our landscape throughout the month of September. Please note there might be some noise disturbance Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm." I think that if I am paying over $250 this should have been made VERY clear to me at the time of booking. When I inquired if the work would be completed by the time I arrived I was told they did not know when they would be finished, meaning that this work is extending into October. I promptly cancelled as I have no desire to spend a day in a construction zone. They should be discounting their prices if they aren't able to provide the "alpine sanctuary" they advertise. sanctuary noun sanc·tu·ary | \ saŋ(k)-ch-wer-ē \ plural sanctuaries : a place of refuge and protection
Was very disappointed that two of the steam rooms seemed to trip their breakers or have some electrical issue that meant the room was rarely steamy during our stay. Combine that with the power issues in the Finnish sauna that had the lights flickering all day which made it uncomfortable to stay in and I’m unlikely to return. Might be worth having an electrician on full time staff. Also, just a heads up, unlike some spas, this one isn’t going to ask you to stay silent during your stay. I prefer the silent spas I’ve learned.
We visited for the first time this past Sunday with another couple and were disappointed. We are from Canmore and had friends visiting so we decided to try out the Nordic Spa. It's a beautiful place and has great potential. Maybe we just hit a bad day but it is quite expensive and we were expecting a beautiful spa experience. First, the hot pools were not hot, at all. The hot pool and the warm pools all felt the same temperature, lukewarm. We couldn't even warm up in them so we went to the steam rooms to get warm. The showers and the change room floors were quite dirty from all of the people before us. It's a good thing we had been given flip flops as you wouldn't want to step into the shower without them. There were disposable plastic cups for drinking water at stations which ended up on the ground all around the pools. I think it is unfortunate that people weren't putting them in the recycle bins but the should have been picked up. It seemed such a waste to begin with and then to have to see them laying all over the place it just didn't seem very spa like. Also in the exfoliation cabin where you recieved a small plastic container of salt to exfoliate with. These containers also ended up all over the cabin and not in the recycle bin. So kind of bizarre in a place where you pay $75.00 per person to see so much plastic garbage laying around. And considering it is a Nordic Spa the hot tub should have at least been hot.
My favourite retreat when I need to get out of the city, refresh my spirit and practice self care to my body. It gets quite busy on the weekend with millennials. This Nordic Spa is best enjoyed when it’s quieter. I suggest going a few hours before close or on a weekday.
An absolutely wonderful venue to get your body relaxed and batteries recharged!
My new fave place to relax!
The only thing worth coming to in Banff/Kananaskis area! Nordic spa was a perfect getaway home away from home! Definitely one of the best places to go if you’re ever in the area. My partner and I are at the restaurant as well and it paired perfectly with the atmosphere of the spa. We went when it was -35 and it was the perfect temperature to go into saunas. The hot pool wasn’t that hot just for that day but still an amazing experience worth the price point.
Great experience. Recieved entry for $70 per person, since we stayed at the hotel next door. So $15 cheaper then usual entry. When we did arrive we were told the Steam room was closed to be worked on, it was fine but maybe a small discount since we could not use all the facilities. Great place, relaxing.
My fave place to go (for any occasion!) perfect scenery and beautiful relaxing environment. I went alone this time and would recommend to go with someone lol, it was slightly awkward being there between all the couples and friend groups ???? but definitely a magical place!
This is a really nice place to go and enjoy some hydrotherapy and spectacular mountain views. It's like $80 to get in, and they give you sandals, towels, a robe, and exfoliating salt. The idea is that you move from the hot steam room/sauna or hot pool to the warm pools to the cold pool (it's more like a plunge because it's freezing!) Then you rest for a bit and repeat the process. After two rounds of this I decided to skip the cold plunge as it was too unpleasant. For resting they have these insulated hammocks but I didn't like it - it was wet inside from the pools and it didn't feel particularly warm. Might have been better if it was more dry and less cold outside. The saunas, steam rooms, and pools are all excellent. Moving from pool to pool can be intense because of the cold but that temperature change really wakes you up, and of course the trees and mountains in winter are incomparable. The restaurant was nice, and the food was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. It's your only option for food there. The last step is to go to the exfoliation room and use that salt to exfoliate your skin then rinse off. Makes your skin super soft and smells nice. They control numbers so that it's never crowded, so be prepared to get put on a waitlist if you don't arrive as soon as they open. We got there right at opening time and there was already a line but we didn't have to go on a waitlist (but the people a bit behind us did). Note that you can't bring your phone in. The waiting lounge area (pictured) was really nice, with comfy couches and fireplaces, as well as games like checkers and connect four.
Great experience. Didn't have to wait too long after getting on the waitlist.
My experience with Nordic Spa is unforgettable. I went there for my 40th birthday pre-covid, and it was a fantastic experience—a peaceful and serene space. The massage was great, and the saunas were a breath of fresh air. I will recommend it to anyone who wants to get a better me time.
The cafe was good too
Absolutely amazing, very healing. Plan to spend the day.
Great but quite expensive!
Beautiful spa but very small changing areas with only 3 showers to share
Beautiful pools and setting, but the service and massage quality were not nearly good enough for the (very high) price paid.
I loved the experience of the spa, however the bistro was unacceptable. Garbages overflowing, poor service, overpriced food to the point I felt like I was being gouged on purpose, and left hungry. So disappointed.
Amazing experience in the outdoor pools. But quite pricey. Supply and demand will do that.
One of the most Canadian things you can do. Go when it's freezing out! Jump between hot pool and sauna when the air temperature is -18°C. Dunk yourself in a 16°C pool to wrap it up. It sucks, but do it. Wearing a touque and a plaid robe the whole time. Oh Canada! ???????? The Bistro is a bit too small, a bit too busy with not the greatest selection. They could really work on that. But, that's not really why you're there is it ... ????????♀️????????♂️ Also there's a no cellphone rule and that's absolutely amazing.
Great spa, Great massage, Not so good food and limited selection (and over priced for what it is), good cocktails . They have 4/5 restaurants with almost similar menus so there is no variety either. Would def recommend day spa hydroptherapy or the massage package which included hydrotherapy. Stay in Banff/Canmore come for day or night spa and go back.
Quite nice hotel, the spa was closed due to covid 19, but we still had a great time. Room service was good, not taking overly long. Hotel room was clean and well kept.
The place itself was absolutely unreal. But the staff were oddly rude. Everywhere we went in the facility had very rude staff. My wife and I walked out of the restaurant after sitting there for 20 minutes and no one would even acknowledge our presence. When I left I said "thanks anyway" to the waitress and she glared at me and muttered "mhmmmm"
Bit of a wait on a quiet day, but when we did get in the staff and attendants were great. The guys downstairs manning the towel counter helped me a few times when my sandals walked away without me and were incredibly courteous and professional.
This place far exceeded my expectations. Saunas, hot pools, cold pools. It's such a great experience and they treat you so well here. It's best to go in the winter. They provide you with a warm robe, towels and flip flops. I highly recommend it!!
Pros: beautiful location and overall amazing spa!! Had the relaxation massage with Joanne and it was a very enjoyable service treatment, finished by putting on the thermal robe warmed by the heater. Eucalyptus sauna and salt scrub were my favourite in the circuit. Cons/Improvements: Suggest signage when you enter the Pomeroy to the direction of the spa, had to ask the staff where to go. The spa only provides complimentary water versus other spas I have been to that provide herbal teas/coffees and some snacks like granola, fresh fruit etc. Towel size is very small and texture was rough Will definitely be back to experience the Nordic spa in the winter.
I managed to book a massage so I got in without having to wait forever. That was great. This spa experienced operational challenges during the long weekend, due to their tremendous early success. They are raising the price now without improving the service. This was my 3rd visit, and probably the last, until they are able to train their staff better to look after guests promptly (instead of working on their computers or speaking on the phone when there was a lineup), have a shorter wait time at their Bistro, and offer beverages/food at their social lounge when their guests cannot grab lunch/drinks for over 1.5 hours due to the bistro being completely full. The wait for the 3 shower stalls was also too long. Many left without showering. They also were not able to return phone calls and emails about small changes without repeated follow-ups. The massage itself was great, and the spa is new and gorgeous. It's really too bad since I have enjoyed my past visits.
Amazing place for vacation and mountains ,not to mention , its so budget friendly ????
It has a nice hydrotherapy and very good massage therapists but can be on the pricey end.

A great place to go relax your mind, body and soul ????✨
We love coming here!
Most relaxing experience! They provide slippers, a robe, towels and bath salts upon arrival. Sunscreen and water is also available on site. Cute mini restaurant in the spa if you want to refuel, a bit on the pricey side. If you don't want to eat there, you can also just leave the spa and eat in the kananaskis village (good prices, quick bite at moose family kitchen), or at one of the kananaskis mountain lodge restaurants, then come right back to the spa. There are a great variety of saunas (wet, exfoliating, dry, aromatic). We also got the couples massage. Our bodies just melted into absolute zen. Need to come back in the winter.
What a beautiful place to spend the day and the bistro lunch was just perfect
We checked the wait times before leaving as suggested, checked again once we were in the carpark,, both times waitlist said about an hour... rocked up to the counter, was told 5-7 hour wait list. its ok to have wait times like this, it is what it is.. but update the site.. we wouldnt have driven for an hour and a half to get there if the website had been somewhat accurate, and then.. the staff were rude and unapologetic, used the words "im educating you" several times when we expressed our concern about the misrepresented internet wait times. Our one day off was wasted because of misinformation.
Pretty good, awesome selection of saunas. !!
Restful and relaxing! Lots of saunas to choose from and a beautiful setting! Staff are all very friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite places in winter time
This place is relaxing and reviving. Solid place to treat yo’self???????? worth the wait!
Deleted previous review and writing a new one! Our time at the spa has been exceptional. Love the new additions, including the additional pools and the new bistro. I am glad they turned the previous eating area into a relax area, as this is something I was worried about my husband missing, because he loves to relax on the couch and read while at the spa between pool circuits. The new menu is great too. I did have to wait outside in the cold for an hour before they opened, to ensure I got in for the day. My suggestion with such a high demand would be to have a booking system for weekends, or possibly extending the wait area or enclosing the path leading to the entrance. I was sad I didn’t get to have a massage with my husband (they only had one spot available when I booked 2 months prior) but we will be making sure to book well in advance next time. It was nice to at least get a discount for the spa access because of our stay at the hotel. The front desk lady was also very accommodating and let me leave and come back so that I could pump breast milk in the privacy of my hotel room. Overall my husband enjoyed his birthday at the spa (it was his first time there) and we had a great experience.
Such an amazing and relaxing experience! I can't wait to get away to Nordic Spa again.
Very relaxing, complete with mountain views.
Maybe I have high expectations, but I was left very underwhelmed and disappointed after hearing all the hype surrounding the Nordic Spa. My only assumption is those who were raving about it have not experienced another spa. From the moment I entered the locker room I noticed the overflowing pile of robes/towels/shoes that were left unattended to while the staff member present prioritized stocking lockers with fresh towels. It seemed almost as if lockers are assigned to guests checking in, in sequence. As there were a 3 of us huddled in a corner (of an otherwise empty locker room) changing all at once before entering the facility. I understand the facility is still just about 1 year old, but I was surprised to see hockey tape used on all the metal railings and surfaces where you enter/exit pools/saunas, it really gave everything an unfinished feel. When you first enter the ‘hot’ pools you will find they are more like a lukewarm pool (again in comparison to my previous experiences) but I felt myself slouching to dip my shoulders down in the water to keep from being cold on a -10 day. For lunch we decided to go to the bistro for a snack. We stood waiting to be acknowledged by a staff member for a few minutes and it seemed no one was to be seen, so we seated ourselves at our choice of one of the tables (assuming it was café style where you go up to order). It was a weekday, so we had our selection of empty tables, all of which seemed to have dirty dishes or empty bottles/cups left on them. After waiting for some time with the menu, we went up to order from the cashier till at the counter and were told someone would come take our order at the table. All together everything in the bistro felt understaffed and mismanaged. The biggest difference compared to other spas was the ambiance of the facility. At the other spa I have visited it was a whisper policy for guests to keep noise to a minimum which results in a very tranquil experience. The overall ambiance here felt more hotel pool than relaxing. Loud adults shouting/laughing in the pools and saunas that could be heard almost from one end of the outdoor area to the other with no staff or signage around asking for people to keep noise to a reasonable level. After lunch once the facility became busier, the noise level went up quite a bit, we only were able to stay in the pools/sauna for another hour before decided to just give up on trying to relax and left. Those who have experienced other relaxing quiet spas, just be aware you may have a completely different experience than previously here.
My understanding is that the price has increased and some of the perks cut back in 2019. Infused water is now kept only in the gift shop, essential oil salts are offered in limited quantities and saunas have less amounts of aromatherapy than before.
Amazing spa getaway !! Been there 3 times now. Love the EO infused steam rooms and the entire circuit alternating cold and hot does the body good ???????? Received my first treatment yesterday a massage with Todd. He was awesome very knowledgeable and creative. Keep up the great work ????
Better described as an adult splash park. The services would be nice and the layout is what it is however if you are looking to experience relaxing hydrotherapy than this place is not at all for you. They have guest rules about washing hands and wearing flip flops, but there is absolutely nothing about voice volume level. So adults are splashing and playing and talking loudly which makes this location far from therapeutic. We did manage to center and ground ourselves in some of the saunas and steam room which eventually our calming energy reached to those around us and people simply stopped buzzing their brains and began listening to their souls experiencing the moment... But often this was not the case at all and the staff are not shushing people over the intercom that plays the soothing music that nobody can hear. This location is poorly managed and is far from a relaxing spa which was unfortunate because my hubby had a strong sense of what kind of day he wanted to give us for my bday and he spent a lot of money on us not being able to relax. Another major issue is the food offered, it's more like unhealthy bar food which doesn't make sense in a place that is suppose to be promoting health, so we did have to go back out to our car to find out fresh fruits and veggies that we bought from co-op before heading back in for another round because their policy prohibits anyone from bringing in outside food - I would understand if they could at least provide healthy options and a fair rate. This spa has turned into a tourist splash park, you will no longer find what you're looking for here until management gets off their rears and quiets the customers bent on screaming like two year olds or kicks them out for being insubordinate. Overall not worth the trip or money if you're looking for a Spa. Two stars are only for the staff who seem to be doing their job based on what management sets out... Management, please get it together and get competitive. Also if you were hoping for yoga, they took that away too. Very disappointing for my husband because he wanted my first experience to be of all the things we both strongly value; meditation and therapy. Will go to any other spa before attempting this over priced adult splash park again.
Very cool place. Massages were top notch. The pools are very nice. Very very busy however. Recommended!
Nordic Spa was a great and relaxing experience, will include a massage next time.
One of the most beautiful spa’s in Canada. Highly recommend this place to my friends and family. The staff do a one of a kind job cleaning this facility. Absolutely immaculate. The price reflects what you get. From when you enter the spa to when you leave- it really speaks for itself. I love that you are forced to disconnect, by not allowing your phone out. It truly gives you time to connect with your friends, partner or family. The bistro is also delicious, I wish there was a tad more variety on the menu. And perhaps a few more warm dishes. Can’t wait to return in February!

Beautiful place...if you can get in! I have been here before and my husband and I loved it! A year later, they now offer an online booking system! I thought this was great until I tried using it. I am very tech and computer savvy but their online booking system had me going in circles. I kept being brought back to the beginning after several attempts to book online
Best massage I have received so far! My masseuse 'Cydney' was so thorough and made sure to spend every bit of those 60 minutes to calm my muscles and body! Highly recommend her! The amenities and products there were top notch and staff was very friendly! Coming back here for a winter getaway for sure!
The best part and most positive experience out of my entire stay. The amenities were very clean and well-kept. I was surprised to find lots of blowdryers and flat irons, sanitized combs and brushes, disposable razors - all at no extra charge. I couldn't figure out how to make the taller shower head work, so more explicit instructions posted somewhere would've been helpful. I enjoyed trying all of the different saunas and pools and while I found the exfolation station a little awkward (rubbing my body in front of other people in a co-ed space... might not be for people who are more modest), it was overall an enjoyable experience. I really liked the fact that robes were provided and not just for purchase in the lobby. One thing that I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me was that the robes are numbered on the sleeves in order to tell them apart. My only suggestion from a UX standpoint is to embroider the number for the robe on the inside (by the tag/loop near the hood), as that was the first place I checked. I wish I would've checked this spa out sooner. It was a really neat experience to go during the winter and I appreciated how quiet it was in the evening.
Perfectly relaxing! Pure bliss!
How did I only just find out about this place? It is my newest addiction. I have never liked spas, but this is so beautiful and relaxing and a great price for what you get. Highly recommend.
Amazing! A must experience!
Visited spa and restaurant several times, always nice getaway!
Was a bit apprehensive due to Covid but the hydrotherapy pools were great. Guests are limited to 60-70 day so it is very open and we did not feel crowded at all. Steam rooms are lovely. Face masks are required in locker rooms, check in and restaurant but not outside. I think this is a great time to visit as it's not the usual crowded mess.
We weren't informed that the largest pool was down for maintenance until after we paid. This seems like an item you would want to bring to guests attention well in advance of payment. No discount for the reduced facilities either. The facilities are clean and well maintained. A few bugs in the pools but I thought that's to be expected given the location. It was a slight challenge to find staff when we had a question about some of the facilities. Food was good, but pricy. Charcuterie board ($28) doesn't include cheese (+$10 for that option). It's delicious, but $38 was a little much. Staff at the bistro are very good, and service is prompt. In my opinion they should have a dinning area where guests can enjoy food that they bring themselves. With the increasing amount of dietary restrictions it isn't easy to pick out something from the menu for everyone's taste.
I enjoyed my time here. My favourite was the steam cabin and the Banya sauna. The change rooms are well maintained and clean. Guests should be aware that it can get awfully loud. There was a group of 5+ women who would shriek every time they entered the cold plunge and talked nonstop the whole time. There were also other smaller groups talking throughout the spa. I understand there aren’t any signs to be quiet (like there is at Scandinave Spa) so if you’re looking for peace and quiet relaxation, this may not be the place for you.
I visited the Kananaskis Nordic Spa for an afternoon session on July 30, 2021 and it was absolutely lovely! They have a morning and afternoon session that you can book. The spa is accessed through the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. It was a very relaxing experience surrounded by mountains! There were multiple saunas (Finnish, steam saunas infused with essential oils, dry sauna and barrel sauna) and hot, warm and cold pools. There were also fire pits with chairs and hammocks for relaxing. I loved cycling through the hydrotherapy experience! They recommend that you save the exfoliation cabin for last so your skin is nice and smooth when you leave. The restaurant at the spa is called Two Trees and it has a beautiful lounge area inside with comfy chairs and couches and a fireplace. Very cozy vibe! The menu has good selections including items labelled gluten free and vegetarian. I enjoyed the Spiced Chickpea Protein Bowl. You are provided with a locker and a wristband to access the locker, which comes with a towel, bathrobe and sandals. I stayed for 4 hours but you can leave sooner or stay later as well. Would highly recommend this spa experience if you’re looking to treat yourself when visiting the mountains!
Such a relaxing place to go to. Definitely worth the drive and the cost for all the amenities that come included. We spent 3 hours and it was amazing.
Relaxation
We only did the pools, but they were fantastic. Will do it again.
I had to downgraded my original review because you don't sell your eucalyptus oil and all the oils you do sell are all used and you have no new freash product. Pretty sad for a spa
I came here with high hopes and ready to fully embrace the spa, but the final result of visit was far less than satisfying. The booking system is atrocious, to spend months just trying to book a day already soured the experience. When we finally got a day, they said we wont know what time until it right before the actual appointment, and then not send any confirmation emails. When we got there, the spa grounds are very nice, but the wide choice in spa styles is really several iterations of the same thing; a wooden sauna. While not all the staff members were bad, some where rude and completely unaccommodating. I was told to put my phone away and that I could not use it to read my book, even though I was sitting to the side and none of the guests wet bothered, when I talked to management and explained it was my only reading source they offered no solutions, and told me phones are not allowed due to photos. Meanwhile I could clearly see people taking photos of all the guests from the lounge. Had they warned me in the non existent confirmation email, I could have brought something else to use to pass the time. There are many way better spas around calgary area, and for just a bit more you can get a much better experience somewhere else.
Incredibly relaxing. Reasonably priced. Everything you need to enjoy the day. Will definitely visit the Nordik Spa near my home city now.
Great experience. Great facilities, staff was tremendous as well.
First Nordic spa in alberta. This is definitely worth a visit. Very relaxing. In particular the salt scrub was an excellent way to end the day. I would suggest making the spa a quiet zone to optimize relaxation as this is the norm in other Nordic spas. I understand there is a phase 2 under construction thus this space will likely be even better then.
Never been one to pamper myself but I must say, this is an absolute must for any and every human being, hydrotherapy was amazing
We chose the spa as a team building experience for our chiro clinic and it was INCREDIBLE! You definitely want to get there early so you don't end up waiting to get in, and you should for sure check out the cafe. The food was amazing. 10/10 will go again!
BEAUTIFUL SPA! Friendly staff, amazing food and great portions. The steam rooms and hot pools were an all time favourite. The massages were even better! Can’t wait to go back!
They are only filling up to 35% capacity right now to manage COVID, so it is a great time to go. Saunas have a 2-4 person capacity, and pool capacities have been reduced as well. Felt safe and clean, and the bistro has also has plexiglass barriers between the couches, and the food was great.
Perfect
Worth trying out. Visit in the evening as it's very quiet. Still under construction at the time. Food was very "foodie" so if you're on a diet or allergic to anything, eat before you go in as you can't go in and out. Facility was under staffed so was a bit dirty.
I love it here! It's truely a relaxing place and we come here to unwind regularly (so much that the staff remember us...haha!) Word is spreading about their awesomeness so you need to plan ahead, cause there's a wait list, but it's worth it!
I found the overall "vibe" disappointing. The temperature in the "hot pools" were the same as the "warm pools" (I visited in December, I understand that it's cold outside, but regulating the temperature better would have been appreciated). I've previously visited Nordic Spas that have been silent and emphasized the "rest" portion of the cycle better. The conversations entirely ruin the atmosphere and the lack of indoor lounge space available in the winter that isn't the bar was disappointing. The change rooms are too narrow and severely over-crowded, though I did visit over the Christmas holidays. If it weren't for my amazing massage at the end of the day, I'd likely have given this one star. I had booked a second visit prior to my first one and have since opted to cancel it and likely won't be returning. Also, note to management: it's tacky that your front desk staff has to directly ask clients how much they want to tip on their services. It made me extremely uncomfortable, and you should consider updating to a more discrete strategy.
The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is they didn't answer there phone 9/10 times when I called. The experience was extraordinary, and the staff were knowledgeable. I could easily spend 12 hours at this luxury, with all of the hot, warm, and cool pools! Lots of relaxation options, with a lovely bistro (we were unfortunately unable to try). Everything was very clean, and well maintained. The change rooms were exceptional, minimal is needed on your behalf. Just bring your swim suit! Lotion, shampoo, conditioner, towels, robes, sandals, locks, and even hair dryers are included! For $85.00 per person I will certainly return.
Very friendly staff, clean and well managed. My friends and I had a great time.
Love this place. Best to go when there's nowhere else you need to be that day and take your time. There is also free hot chocolate, music and s'mores making over an open fire at the hotel at 5:30 - nice way to end a day of soaking and relaxing.
I've been to the spa a few times now - the facilities are beautiful. The double steam sauna is my favorite, and the fire pits with adirondak chairs are lovely as well. The spa still has another stage of construction to go, and so a lot of potential for what the final product will look and feel like! Unfortunaly on this last visit there was a large group of people who were clearly in violation of the spa's policy (intoxicated) and basically treated the common/pool area like a hotel pool party - extremely vulgar and clearly drunk - very loud, which made it impossible to enjoy the experience. After spa staff were approached with concerns, the party was spoken to, but continued their behaviour for at least 2 more hours, really spoiling the experience for other guests. Part of the group even left to to use the bistro, and were actually allowed back later into the spa area. As someone who works in customer service, I understand these situations are always tricky to deal with - but staff didn't seem to have the tools or procedures in place to follow their own policy and deal with problem guests. I'm hopeful that as the spa grows and the kinks get worked out, that these situations are handled differently in the future, but in the meantime wouldn't recommend making the trip if you want a truly relaxing spa experience.
Overall the spa was absolutely gorgeous and I was very pleased with the food and drinks that were available on the second floor. This was a pretty great experience and it was my first time in a Nordic style Spa and as a result I had a great time. I would recommend bringing your older family members to this especially after a stressful work week.
Amazing experience. We loved disconnecting and relaxing.
Must must must go. So relaxing and enjoyable. The stew and a stout topped it off.
???? would visit here again. It’s no European spa but it comes pretty close. We did a weekend getaway and stayed at the lodge.
It was nice but overpriced for what it is in my opinion. They charged us full price even though one pool was under construction and was a huge eyesore in the middle of the facility.
Spa was great and had the most options compared to other Nordic spas I've been to. Menu was lacking and underwhelming.
Had a massage by Tyler, and it was amazing!!! One of the best massages I’ve ever had. Very professional and worked around my broken back. If we lived in the area, he would definitely be my regular.
Such an amazing experience! The pools are so lovely in the winter and it was a beautiful reprieve to relax with not only their pools but also their saunas and steam rooms.
What a great place to spend a few hours or more, after a day in the mountains. Clean facilities, spacious enough to not feel crowded, and helpful staff. The ambience fits the mountain location.
It’s our first time to experience a Nordic spa and to tell you honestly, we kinda feel scared of trying it in -10C’ on November. But our overall experience was pleasant and very relaxing. First of, they gonna give you a very warm robe, slippers and a cup of salt (for exfoliating shower). We did the cycle of Hot Sauna - Hot pool - Warm pool - Cold plunge and relax on their fire pit cauldron. We repeated the cycle three times in 2.5 hours. For us, the best experience was the Finnish Sauna and the cold plunge. We tried our best to stay in the cold pool for as long as 1 minute :) We didn’t tried their bistro cafe though cause we’re not interested with their menu and we just want to stay around the spa area. We will back next time for our annual body recharge!
Overpriced, overcrowded, and not worth the wait. The pools are nice, but in the end it's just a couple outdoor hot tubs, a few saunas. If you like lines though, you can wait in line to sign up to wait 5-7 hours from the get go. Skip this one.
This is one of mast see place, very unique experience
This spa has good facilities and layout. We really enjoyed the saunas, the views from the pools were gorgeous, and the temperature in the cold pool was perfect, exactly what you need to refresh and stabilize your body. However, a number of drawbacks make it likely that we will not return here again: Showers - There were only 3! For the entire women's change room! In peak hours, which is when we were there, there was a line-up of 5-7 people. We ended up not showering at all and just leaving. Change stalls - or lack thereof. During peak hours, changing becomes extremely uncomfortable, as spaces between lockers is limited, and there are no changing stalls. More shy members of our group had to change in the toilets, which were also often full and had a line up. Noise - I found the level of noise - loud and sometimes quite obviously drunk - the opposite of the relaxing atmosphere I wanted in a Nordic Spa experience. I have been to other Nordic style spas that have a silence policy that makes the whole visit totally serene and calm. At the Kananaskis Nordic Spa I felt like everyone was in a hurry, stressed, and I couldn't find a quiet place just to rest. The last thing I wanted to hear while sweating away my worries in a steam room was inebriated people giggling and yelling at each other. Robes - Were amazing, warm, and cozy. BUT were hard to distinguish from other robes, and while we memorized where we hung up our robes, other people clearly didn't, because had to TWICE get new ones because ours were taken by other people. Each robe has a number, but it's hard to see, and I assume other people just don't care. There must be a better way to make sure that guests can identify their own robes and avoid taking others'. Floor cleanliness - The staff were very good at keeping the floors clean (ish), so long as there was someone there ALL THE TIME to mop up water and dirt. I suggest having some kind of coat area, where people can leave coats and dirty boots before entering the change rooms. This is something I've seen at other such spas and it works really well. I think most of these drawbacks can be easily fixed by limiting the number of people in the spa. It seems that the amenities, at least in the women's change room, are ill equipped to deal with the volume of people the Spa is trying to accommodate. Fewer people would mean a quieter, calmer environment for guests to relax, to shower in peace, and use the facilities without feeling overcrowded, hurried, or stressed. Again, the location and views are absolutely amazing here. The snow-covered mountains and swaying pines would be more than enough to bring us back if it weren't for the above points which ruined the visit for us.
Absolutely ???? amazing. Kids loved it.
I was really trying to like this spa, but it fell short on multiple fronts making me have to lower my score. First off, I had a previous appointment which was cancelled the day of because the masseuse called in sick that day, however, when I called back, it made it seem like they were overbooked or at capacity. They did offer for me to come and use the facilities, however, I wasn't going to make a long drive for a small range of their facilities (not all were open at the time and there are still portions under construction). For our new appointment, we never got a confirmation email so never had a good idea of cost or when our appointment was. This was disappointing and I had to call multiple times to finally get through to someone. Now about the spa itself. It's basically a lot of sauna's and steam rooms. Having relatives who know a lot about banya's and nordic saunas, it was a little disappointing to see that the steam rooms/saunas were almost replicas of each other. Other than the barrel sauna which was infrared but was packed to the point where there was a line outside. The steam room for the scrub was also a little overpowering with the smell of the scrubs. I couldn't last too long in there. Overall it's a great idea, but in my eyes, poorly executed. Additionally, none of the small pods or hammocks around the grounds were actually heated up. You could see the power plugs, but not plugged in. Why advertise they are heated when no one on the staff has actually plugged them in? The massage itself was pretty average, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing special. The masseuse was pleasant enough. However, the staff on the floor of the spa was a little bit rude. We were asked to not use our phones for reading (even if we were simply reading e-books and not disturbing anyone around us). When speaking to a manager, they completely dismissed this and wouldn't even hear the complaint. Disappointing, considering we live in a digital age where people read on their phones. If they want to advertise this, give spa-goers other options for reading material or maybe e-mail people in advance with the spa guidelines (we never got any e-mail). Additionally, if you are going to promote the no phones rule because of privacy, please make sure there aren't people from upper areas of the spa snapping photos. As a local guide, I wanted to take photos of the spa facilities but didn't because of their no phones policy. We opted to NOT have food at the bistro upstairs. It was mostly charcuterie boards and wine. They should probably try to diversify their menu a bit more to include meals, especially if they want to be a day spa. We left searching for food elsewhere. I personally wouldn't recommend the Nordic Spa. It's a bit pricey for what you get and frankly, I was not a fan for the service. I think they should look into the value they are trying to create for a day spa and re-think some of their customer service models and food options. There are a number of different spas in the area that I would opt for instead. Happy spa-going!
Pure bliss. It was nice to soak my old bones. I can't wait to return to the Eucalyptus steam room soon.... Great staff and amenities. With Thanks
Beautiful and relaxing ! Yes, it's pricey however a robe and shoe rental is included!
What a beautiful spa and scenery. Loved everything about the experience. The aromatherapy massage was simply divine. Brian and Dereck are amazing at what they do! The onsite staff is very polite and helpful. The ambiance is great and relaxing. Facility amenities are all very clean. Both my husband and i had a great day. We'll be back!
Great experience. Recommend to any couple. Spa does get busy though Relaxing atmosphere let's you recharge
A beautiful relaxing experience
Such a beautiful, relaxing, unique spa. Had an amazing massage from Joanne. Wow!
Finally made it here. Its gonna be awesome when its complete...was disappointed the cocoons where taken down as friends raved about them. Enjoyed our time here...not a fan of the menu in the restaurant. Hoping the rest opens soon so I could maybe try again and enjoy our time here.
Surprised my significant other on his birthday with a trip out to Kananaskis and staying at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, visiting the Nordic Spa for the afternoon. The facility was amazing and we would definitely be back on the next special occasion. Only thing I would highly highly suggest... BE PREPARED to wait at least 3 hours to enter the spa if you didn't purchase a package. They fill up by 11am! However, worth the wait! The view is amazing and all the different pools and saunas we absolutely delightful. Would post pics but it's a cellphone free zone (obvs) ????
Lol After every review, relations manager copies and pastes same response as a reply. Maximum effort there.
Great service, exceptional ammentitities, pricey but delicious food. Make sure you go there first thing in the morning because it does gets busy. We went during the weekday and were the first ones there at 9:30 am. Two things I would bring with me next time that they didnt have is a face moisturizer and a round brush for drying hair. Planning on going back with my husband next time.
Delightful place. Amazing scenery. Great service and plenty of options for hot, warm, cold and rest areas. The bistro is quite expensive but as good food. Easy to spend the whole day here.
The best spa I've been to! It even has infrared sauna!! Super friendly staff and great vibe :D
Lots of space, clean. Love spending time here.
The hydrotherapy is amazing ????
Quite a disappointment. They are quite over priced compared to other similar facilities. You would expect an outstanding warm welcome. After driving all the way from calgary, the manager received me as if she did not want to. Asking me questions with a snoby facial expression hence she didn't wear a mask first. She made me feel unwelcomed, either because this facility is for couples and women only , or hotel guests only, I do not get it. Even though I was being friendly and respectful about my intention is just to relax for couple hours. It looked like I am not supposed to be there and she "will allow it this time" she said, instead of being happy to have customers to stay in biz during covid-19 times. You get in, all the tubs were barely warm with air temperature around -26C! You will feel cold in the water after few minutes. Steam room and the finnish sauna are the best i could enjoy there. Was it worth the prime price I paid? unfortunately not.
Needs some polishing, a few things seem to be missing to make it a higher level experience. Food and drinks were expensive. Massage was good.
Shower areas could have been a lot better!
Lots of different options to choose from. Food was fabulous. Can spend the whole day there!
Amazing experience all around! Will go back absolutely.
Great, take your time
Loved it, so relaxing and rejuvenating!
Amazing experience. Very clean and beautiful facility
Beautiful spa and a wonderful experience.
I really appreciate the quality of the pools and saunas, but for what it costs I was disappointed in a couple of things. Firstly, the robes do not fit larger bodies. When I asked for a larger robe the employee told me that they were one size fits all. They barely fit me, so one size fits most at best. There needs to be options for robes for larger people. Secondly, it is unbelievable that there are no quiet areas in the spa. There were many people talking and there were people who were quite drunk. For the cost of this service it was decidedly not relaxing.
Great place, very friendly and wonderful hot tubs and saunas.
It’s pricey but really nice. Love how many options there are for hot and warm. Cold plunge is brutal but fun and the rest areas with the fireplaces are really cozy. The winterized hammocks are a MUST, I could have spent all day in there!! Sandra at the Two Trees bistro was really lovely and our drinks and food there were fab too. Will defs be back!
No idea what the place is like but it took reservations 2 weeks to get back to me by email. They informed me it takes up to 8-14 weeks to book a massage on weekends and 2-4 weeks during the week. If they're this busy, they can afford someone to answer emails and phone calls. Unfortunately I won't experience this place anytime soon.
Pure bliss, automatic 5 stars just because how good the hydrotherapy feels. Didn't get the massage but I'm looking forward to going again to try it out
Best time to go is Late sept to early oct.
Facilities were really nice at the spa. Massage was great.
Try getting an actual person on the phone... have fun with that.
Do yourself a favour and go. Go to the spa, eat lots of excellent food and go exploring! You owe it to yourself.
The Nordic Spa is one of the top highlights of the Rockies. With exceptional service, treatments, hot/warm/cold pools, steam rooms/saunas and bistro, this spa is a perfect getaway. Starting the day with a massage, then jumping from hot to cold to warm pools, having a bite to eat and then a short nap in the hammock I thoroughly enjoyed this routine all day long. Can't wait to go back soon!
This was a fantastic day. Commit to spending some time to really let your mind rest!
This is one of my favorite places to go. The pomeroy is so nice and the staff are genuinely happy, and willing to help. They have all the amenities you need in one place.
Great view and great food
First time going to a spa with my girlfriend. Ten outta ten would spa again. We plan to come back in the winter to have that experience.
A very relaxing day in the pools. Book a room at the hotel to avoid having to drive while so relaxed!
Best relaxing weekend we have ever had!!! Great place to go, great staff!!! Would recommend it to anyone and we will!!!!!
It's not bad. There's construction in one of the big pools when I went, it's odd that they didnt hide it or put some walls/fencing around it. It's just a pile of dug up construction which ruined the ambiance.
If you have a day to go for a spa, I would highly recommend this place. It is about an hour drive from Banff, but it's worth it. They have saunas, steam rooms, heated pool in hot and warm, and a cold pool. It's a relaxing place to be. They do provide a thick fleece lined robe, 2 towels, and salt scrub to be used at the end. No photos are allowed inside so these are the ones I can show you.
Perfect place to unwind and relax! The setting is incredible and atmosphere superb!
Had a great experience here while we had a spa day getting massages and enjoying the many pools. The robes were very heavy and warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu even though it was quite limited was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this place.
Nice place to spend the day and relax.
Had a great girls day here! Can not wait to go back!
Will visit again. I like this one more than the ottawa one
This place was amazing! I ended spending a total of 6 hours hopping from pool to sauna to steam room etc. They treat you like royalty when you arrive and as you leave. At the end of the journey there is an essential oil salt scrub that leaves you rubbing your arms all night long. If you stay at the hotel that is attached you can receive a discount at the spa. Very clean, safe, and the perfect getaway from the busy world we all live in. I wish I could have taken more photos inside the place but phones aren’t allowed (which is a good thing!). I will be back again and again and again!
Great place to unwind or get pampered. Though, saunas and steam rooms could be hotter/more efficient. Spa etiquette quite social, patrons less focused on therapeutic/zen aspects - not a peace and quiet kinda place. I recommend you call ahead since their online platforms don't account for private events - this past Tuesday I lost 3 hours because of it, no discount, and frankly, the lack of smiles at reception was a bit stark.
Amazing place. This was my first spa experience and when in AB again I may return.
This was so beautiful. We lounged on the hammocks, did a few cycles of the pools and enjoyed some wine in the restaurant. I highly recommend for some peace and calm.
When it was open it was awesome. So comfortable, love the different pools, saunas, steam rooms. Great food in the bistro.
#bravetheelements #amust #spa #loveit
Fantastic place! Lots of pool and steam/sauna options that’ll leave you feeling amazing after you’re finished. The bistro is great for a snack in between sessions. Would recommend to anyone.
Wonderful
Amazing value. You could spend a day here and melt all your stress away
One of my favourite places on the planet! Recommend getting a massage and ordering a bottle of wine they keep chilled for you while you spa!
Book the afternoon off a chill in the spa pools. You'll be amazed how quickly time flys by. Book a massage too, very qualified therapists.
I actually had a not so relaxing time. I came on a Saturday evening which was full of teens making out. Not following the silence rules. Then came to the restaurant and no where to sit. Then waited for 10-15 mins for a waiter to see me. Finally got seated and he serves me a tea with not s high water th fill my tea cup. I give it a three star completely over rated.
Wonderful experience. Great to have this type of facility in Alberta.
Nice place. Lots to do and see.
Most incredible experience! A must do! We got the day pass at the pools and relaxation massage. The whole experience was outstanding. The message therapists were extremely professional and pleasant. The pools and hot rooms were relaxing. And the atmosphere has a pleasant rustic/ cabin feel that makes you feel at home and very comfortable. I can’t stress how happy my wife and I were to come here. Special thanks to Marty and BJ.
First visit to a SPA, really enjoyed, absolutely can't beat the natural Rocky mountain outdoor setting.
Great service. Beautiful resort.
Excellent but expect it to be even better once all the renos and upgrades are finished
love to go again. need to be tgeir earlier to avoid the waiting line....
Great staff! Relaxing environment. This spa in the Rocky Mountains is a unique experience and worth the trip! Thanks Kaylee for leaving a lasting impression on me about the kindness and attentiveness of your team!
Perfect place to go for a date with your significant other!
f#ckin loved this place. such a relaxing environment and it really helped reset my stress level.
f#ckin loved this place. such a relaxing environment and it really helped reset my stress level.
Amazing date day with my husband. Restaurant food is great as well
Love love love this place and the experience. 5 stars for sure. However the price point is very high, so I had to give it a 4 put of 5 based on that alone. PS don't forget to bring a winter hat to keep your ears and hear warm.
You can't have a better day, nestled in the mountains, for $85 a head
Very Nice Place
I visited your amazing facility on Tuesday, June 5th. I arrived at 9:30 am with two friends. We were given a lovely warm reception, and the opportunity to enjoy a hydrotherapy circuit before checking in for our deep tissue massages at 10:45. We were cheerfully given a few pointers and a brief introduction to the saunas and pools, which were set in an absolutely stunning forested area with mountain views. After filling out a brief questionnaire, I was introduced to my massage therapist, Cindy. Not long into my massage, I was feeling very blessed to have been placed with her. Her fingers seemed to have magnets that were drawn directly to the pain, then magically found the spot to release. At no time was this more pronounced than when she began to work on my legs and feet. In the past, I have told many massage therapists about problems there, but I have never experienced single massage that was so targeted and effective. I felt that for the first time, my pain had been understood. I can't thank Cindy enough for sharing her expertise. My friends also had compliments for their female therapists and an acquaintance in the locker room shared that her male therapist was also excellent. We continued our day with 2 more rounds through the great selection of hydrotherapy amenities (eucalyptus steam room was the group favorite), followed by lunch at Two Trees (eating while lounging in our robes on comfortable couches), then finishing off with more hydrotherapy and a smoothing, exfoliating salt scrub. Heavenly! See you again Cindy!
Loved the place and the variety of saunas and pools. If to nag then maybe would have wanted an actual swimming pool too.
Amazing. Highly recommend.
I am so impressed with the staff. Melissa was able to help me find a massage and that fixed me right up. The pools are amazing well worth the money …. Relaxation at its best.
Way better than I expected! Everything was beautiful and clean, service was great. The soup I had in the lounge was amazing, the massage was great too. Honestly, no complains, I can't wait to go back and I'm excited for all the additional stuff they're building!
An absolute must do...
Nice indoor pool, come and have a try
I was so relaxed I forgot to take the mask off in the shower! Really want to give a shout out to the staff who keep this place running seamlessly and clean. The ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars- we wish there was more of an explanation on the process. We felt a bit lost going into the change rooms, and weren't told the exfoliation is supposed to happen at the end (found out from another spa attendee... After we went in there mid way through our stay)
Superb location, clean amenities, great staff ! I had a great day at the Nordic Spa.
The perfect escape.
Love this place! Amazing food, friendly staff, clean. My only complaint is that when I booked, I was told a receipt is issued for the full cost of the massage and would be eligible for reimbursement. It was not. The benefits provider only issued a reimbursement of $80. I was a big disappointed in finding this out after the fact. I would suggest having two receipts issues, possibly with a discount for the spa services.it would also be great to have a skating Rink in the middle of the buildings! There's definitely space!
Great service, multiple options for food which is amazing. I forgot where I ate but the food was absolutely delicious. Very fresh and I felt very happy after eating. Amazing view as well from where I was sitting. Will definitely come back!????????
The only place I ever want to be.
Beautiful spa, the view is breath taking and takes the cake! The pools and saunas were nice. There's currently not many options: three pool, two which are divided into two which technically makes a total of five, three saunas, one steam building (two rooms) and one exfoliating area. It's enough but I've definitely been elsewhere with more options. Regardless just enough options to enjoy and relax. Everything is maintened and newly built. Beautiful aesthetics. Clean facilities, the robes provided were really nice and good quality. The lockers were a bit finicky to unlock but minor issue. The service was friendly. The bistro/restaurant was lovely and the food had nice tasty appies, fun to share and nothing too heavy. The spa has currently only completed the first 'phase' and will expand. This place will be really great when it finishes expanding.
I was really excited to finally try the nordic spa since it opened in Alberta. It was nice to have a great Mountain view and have a robe, slippers and towel come with the entrance fee. But the major downside is that the spa did not have a whispering policy compared to other nordic spas I've been to. Honestly, it did not make my experience relaxing hearing people talk really loud next to me like a bar and people squealing in the cold waters. Also, the exhaust fans killed the ambience. I imagined hearing water falling but even in the steam rooms you can hear the fans blasting. In other nordic spas that I've been to in Quebec, we lost track of time and spent 5 hours compared to this spa I only spent an hour and wanted to leave since it was not relaxing when people are shouting all around. It's really too bad. Don't think I'll return or recommend it to my friends after this experience since we made a long drive from edmonton to try this place out.
Love this place so much! Makes for a great getaway from the city.
Amazing getaway ????❤️
Loved it! The pools and saunas are amazing. It would get 5 stars if there was a quiet place to hang and be warm. Somewhere to read a book or take a nap in between time in the pool. Maybe even some heat lamps near the hammocks so it's warmer while out of the water. The locker rooms are pretty squishy and could use some more benches!
Really enjoyed it... But no phones means no phone... It'd be nice if people read signs...
Girlfriend and I spent approximately 5.5 hours here. I believe they just finished "Phase 2" when we went. We paid $70 for the day access. When you get into the locker rooms you have a wristband to open up your locker. Inside your locker you have two towels, a robe and a peppermint sugar scrub (to be used later). The robes are great, especially during the winter when it's cold outside. They do a good job at blocking out the wind/cold weather as you're walking in between the different pools/saunas. The premise is hot - warm - cold -rest - repeat. The main issue I heard from a number of people (and we agree with) is that the hot pools weren't really all that hot. It could be due to the weather outside making it more difficult to keep the hot pools as hot as they normally are, or perhaps that is the temperature that they always are. We went on a Saturday and it wasn't as busy as we were anticipating. Most of the patrons were quietly talking among themselves, but there were a few groups which were louder which did get a bit irritating, but wasn't a deal breaker. A nice variety of different saunas/steam rooms to go into, each a little bit different from the other. No cell phones are allowed past the locker room, which is very nice to be able to get away from technology and just relax and enjoy yourself and the company that you're with. Would definitely recommend the Nordic Spa to anyone in the area that have 3+ hours to kill. Given the price, I'd say you want to spend a minimum of 3 hours here to get your moneys worth.
Only response why it’s so low is because of a few reasons. The massage was extremely pricey, which is completely understandable. But the massage was unfortunately not great. I did specify my trigger points and what needed to be worked out, unfortunately I left feeling as stiff as I did when I went in. The food wasn’t great either unfortunately and very expensive for the not-so-great quality. The pools and saunas are wonderful! The room was very cozy, but unfortunately the sheets had a very large brown stain on it.
I went to the spa on the Saturday and had a treatment booked. Glad I did as the place got busy and had a waitlist before no time. The massage was terrific. On Sunday the venue was far less busy. My biggest concern was the steam room was closed and there was no mention of it in an email to me, a sign at check-in, or even a sign on the steamroom door. A bit more communication would have been great. I got to use the saunas, hot pools, and warm pools and overall the experience was terrific. Great friendly staff as well.
Relaxing mountain reprieve. Highly recommend for couples.
Didn't think it would be worth the money but I felt so relaxed and amazing. We spent 3.5 hours in there but could have easily spent 6. The bistro food was decent but really expensive (22-26$ entrees that are barely enough for 1 person). Eat before you come! Or better yet, come in the morning, go out to eat and come back
Worth every penny, and it is recommended to go early in the morning or wait around lunch time when people leave for lunch. So many options for relaxation and the entire facility was clean and inviting.
Amazing ! Overnight stay recommended !!
The first spa I’ve ever been to that didn’t have a designated quiet area. Hard to relax when everyone around you is talking about all the errands they have to run and you can hear people talking through the walls in every location.
This is my safe space.
I enjoyed the stay. I'm going to say that the only reason this review isn't 5 stars is because the facility is under updating. The shower got cold due to a lot of use while exfoliating but the philosophy of hot, warm, cold, rest, repeat is one that I will hold. I used the showers in the male change room for exfoliating instead and was great at the end. Great staff!!
Wow you guys are really full of yourselves aren’t you and $209 for a one hour massage? Do I get wine champagne and caviar following? “ It is customary to provide 18% – 20% gratuity for Massage services. At KNS, we take the guess work out for you by suggesting an 18% gratuity upon payment for your service. All gratuities are paid in full to the massage therapist. Of course, if you would prefer to leave a different amount, please let us know and we will adjust the gratuity as you prefer.”” Yes KNS you did take the work out for us as there is no chance in hell we ever visit your facility for a massage!!!
The new Nordic Spa is beautiful. The staff seem to take a lot of pride in the facilities and are ready to help with anything. The selection of saunas and pools is spectacular. I'm excited to see what this space is like when it's finished. They opened phase 1 in March 2018, but will soon have a 4th pool, a relaxation centre (possibly with yoga spaces), and a liquor license. I'll definitely be back here when phase 2 is complete. Well worth the price of admission (and quite magical when it's snowing out).
Amenities are awesome. Nice quaint spa, well maintained.
A group of us traveled from Edmonton specifically for the Nordic Spa. We did our research and knew you couldn't make reservations ahead of time, which I think is very bizarre considering it's a destination and people TRAVEL to come there. We arrived before it opened at 9AM to stand in line for almost an hour, to then get cut off and be told it was a 5-7 hour wait! So as you can imagine, after arriving early, waiting in line to then be cut off and be told to wait even longer, meaning half of the day is already wasted, is ridiculous. Reservations should be a no-brainer, if not then perhaps walk ups have the choice to choose an allotted time period in which they stay (ie 4 hours, 8 hours) so that appropriate wait times are given and not 5-7 hours. If the Nordic Spa had a different location, say closer to more amenities, then it might be fine to be given a longer wait time. But to drive all the way back to Canmore or Banff, to then get called back makes no sense. So you are forced to stay on the property and sit around or spend more money with the hotels restaurants etc. Once we got in, the change rooms had clearly just been through a transition of people coming and going as towels were thrown everywhere etc. The layout of the actual outdoor spa is nice and the concept is fantastic, but it was all about the little things that weren't thought of or neglected. The exfoliation shower area had 1 out of 4 showers working, 2 of which were very poorly taped up. Plastic scrub salt containers all over the floor in which they are being stepped on because they don't make it to the garbage. My girlfriend found a USED CONDOM in the washroom outside attached to the sauna. There were a group of 4 girls with corksicle mugs that were CLEARLY drinking booze and they got rowdier as the day went on, and again, for a spa where you spend a lot of money to be in and the rules state no alcohol outdoors, you think staff members would monitor those types of things to make sure all guests are enjoying their relaxing time. It's not a public pool. For a water spa, I was not happy that there were only 3 showers for people to use once done. There was a huge line to get showered off and it was again frustrating to be waiting again. I understand that weekends are peak times, I understand that you can't monitor everything, but it just felt like the overall experience was not fully taken care of and the little things matter, especially when you're there to spend a few hours, people start to catch on and notice things. Overall my frustration stems from the weekend being planned solely for the purpose of a group of us moms who needed to get away from our daily grind, which is RARE and it was spoiled. Hopefully the standard can be set a little higher or your booking process can be amended as I know I am not the only person frustrated with a no reservation system.
Great view!
This place was wonderful! Of course more expensive but absolutely worth it! All the pools are wonderful and I would definitely recommend the eucalyptus steam room! My massage was wonderful with all the smelly hot towels!
Quiet and relaxing. Perfect get away.
That place is so great I recommend it to everyone especially now with the COVID situation you won't see as much peoples
What a nice way to relax. Awesome in the winter. Very recommended.
Loved this spot!! Use the salt exfoliating scrub at the end of the visit and not on your face :). You just need to have a quick shower before entering the pools to rinse off. If you can bear the cold plunge pool it's worth it! Hot, warm, cold repeat! If you love heat the steam room is for you. The Bistro is now part of the grounds so you can walk right over from the pools, great options for a bite to eat :)
Perfect
Only go to this spa if you wish to be relaxed and feel amazing!! Also, if you love hot tubs/ baths/ and saunas. If you dont like hot tubs, you will hate it. Actually. But my word, I feel sooooo relaxed and just amazing!!! would absolutely, without hesitation, go back. Didn't do the massage this time, could likely justify spending the extra money. Best for moms who are tired, burnt out, and need a much needed break with your bestie. Girl!! So good!! Its adult only, so your not even hearing little ones screaming in the background- like your life normally consists of!!!!!! Point is, do it! You wont regret it. Also leave your kids with their dad, it's worth it. :) :)
Spent 6 hours in the spa. So much to do that the time flew bye. I would highly recommend this experience. Worth every penny.
Experiencing gorgeous views from the Lodge paths today, sun is out, fresh air after the rain yesterday.
Used to be fantastic. $90 for the whole day. Could go any day and get in. Really unique experience. Now, they require you to pre-book at $120 and its next to impossible to book anything on the weekends. I live 4 hours away and can only come on the weekends. Because of this, I haven't been able to go for almost 2 years. Really disappointing as I used to try and go every other month.
You have to go here!! This place is so relaxing. We spent the whole day here then the next day did a night round. The hotel is great and attached to the spa. The spa has a nice little restaurant I'd suggest getting both the cheese board and charcuterie together as the charcuterie doesn't have cheese. The massage was great and staff is very friendly. Travel canada and hit this spot.
Great ambiance, friendly staff, and delicious food at the bistro! We've never done anything like this before, so we were a bit apprehensive at first, but I'm so glad we made this retreat a part of our trip. What really sealed this as a 5-star experience was the 60-minute massage I had late in the afternoon! It was incredible.
Great place for relax and great experience with all saunas and pools. Long waiting time for the bistro and the food choices are limited and pricey. The reason I’m giving 4 stars is while I’m waiting for the seats outside on a chair alone I took out my phone and replying some messages and email —— people getting boring for an hour wait time and they wanna share some words with their friends, I’m not being offensive to anyone nor taking photos. A worker come and asking me to stop using my phone rudely and saying that I’ll be ask to leave. It’s bothering me the whole rest of the time and I left the place soon cuz I feel uncomfortable. Well I saw at least 10 persons took out their phones during my stay and there are tons of photos on web reviews. If you wanna stop people using cell phones, provide a warm waiting place with books and magazines. I’m not expecting for an hour wait at the bistro on a day which is not that busy. I’ll come back on summer but hope that no one asking me to put away my phone and leave again like a high school class. For the price I paid I think there should be a better experience overall.
Came here today (Feb 07, 2020) to celebrate Valentines Day early with my girlfriend. It was both our first times here and we were both thoroughly impressed. Temperature today was sunny and about -2 to -8, with random wind gusts. We got in line around 9:15AM, and there was a 10-15min. Not bad at all considering all the reviews we saw mentioning 45+ min wait times even arriving before they open. I would definitely recommend coming on a non-holiday weekend/weekday, all day the amount of people at the spa was steady. We had soaking pools to our selves multiple times during the day. Soaking experience overall was amazing, nothing to complain about here. All of the "rooms" were open today as well, nothing was closed. The hydrotherapy cycle is great, at the end as much as you don't want to do the cold plunge - it definitely helps keep you from overheating or even feeling too hot. We tried every room in the facility, and our favourite hot room was definitely the steam room. We tried both sides and they were both great, although the menthol in the alchemist side is very strong - you can feel the peppermint zing in your eyes. Steam room gets very very hot, and there's a dunk bucket in case you need to rapidly cool off. Started at 9:30AM. We did about 5 full cycles + lunch, and by the time we finished it was 4:30PM. Didn't expect to stay this long, so that was a pleasant surprise. Staff were all super friendly, I think every staff member I made eye contact with asked me how I was enjoying my time. Excellent customer service. The bistro was great, a tip is to get a reservation/spot 1hr before you expect to get hungry since you'll have to wait anyways. Service was very fast and professional. The food on the other hand was great, we had that beer($10.50 each) charcuterie board ($28) and the corque nordic ($23). On the expensive side but I understand that it costs more to have fresh food delivered to the location, and the nordic spa as a whole is a premium experience. The price didn't detract from my experience as I expected it, but be prepared to pay $30-40/person for a meal + drink. We had a good time, and depending on what you enjoy this may or may not be for you. But we will definitely be coming back here. (No pictures to post as they don't allow phones in the spa area. I quite enjoyed that, as it gives you a nice mental break)
Really could’ve been a great place, with better maintenance. The main pool was closed due to some issues and no one was advised or discounted rate offered. Right now, the weekend booking for hydro-session is only offered to the guest staying at their hotel.
Place is incredibly gorgeous but the management might need some changes.
I loved this spa. It reminded me of the ones in Europe I had visited. I spent six hours enjoying the spa. I wish the dining had more to offer. For one person the only dish that would be suitable would be the soup of the day. I would also recommend reminding people of the rules to make sure to be quick with the sauna and steam room doors. It was so relaxing and I'll be back!
What a great way to spend a weekend in the mountains. Had a fantastic first experience, would definitely do this again. So relaxing and feeling refresh.
Had a great time with my daughter staying at the Pomeroy for my bday. Enjoyed a fabulous meal at Forte. Went to Nordic spa the next day to relax in the pools. Gorgeous scenery all around.
I’ve spent six hours here each time I’ve visited because of how much I love this place. From hot pools to cold pools, to a Russian banya to a eucalyptus stream to an exfoliation room, I leave incredibly relaxed. Located in the heart of Kananaskis, this is the perfect location for a refreshing getaway. The fleece hooded house coats are a perfect addition to ensure sitting around the fire is comfortable and relaxing. I’ll continue returning here for a romantic getaway or a day with friends.
The location is tucked behind the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. The location is very mindful of restrictions due to COVID. We purchased the morning session which only allowed entry until 230 PM, with the Two Trees Bistro closing at 2 PM. Our stay was approximately 3 hours, but could have definitely stayed longer. Excited to return for another visit.
A nice place to visit after a hike or skiing. A few kinds of saunas and steam rooms, a number of outdoor pools with different temperatures. There is also a restaurant there. We enjoyed the visit.
Spent about 6 hours here and it was lovely! Very neat place, great to relax and unwind. I think it still has a little ways to go though. The staff weren't the best and didn't seem to have a ton of knowledge of the place. Being a first time visitor I was kind of hoping for a big of an explanation or even a tour of the facility... Luckily I had done research online so I had an understanding. The massage was ok, not great. Definitely feel like it is overpriced for what you get. I did enjoy the warming drawer for my robe during my massage though. Loved all the pools and saunas. Was a title disappointed with the exfoliation room seeing it covered in all the plastic cups from the day, which is more on the guests as there is garbage righy outside. But would be nice if the staff was cleaning it up throughout the day. This place still is new so I'm sure it's going through some growing pains and I'm sure will be fantastic! Just don't think it's worth the hefty price tag as of right now... But I would go back!
Amazing. Felt so refreshing to sit in the steam rooms, saunas and hot/cold tubs. The staff was awesome and the food was great !
Good service
Very relaxing in a beautiful mountain setting. Various hot /cold pools, saunas, steam rooms. Chairs, hammocks, fireplaces. Spa bistro for a quick bite.
I dont have words for how amazing my day was. Chris was my RMT, and I hope I didnt startle him when I almost fell asleep a couple times and had that big body twitch , lol. The pools just literally are life changing, the eucalyptus steam room (seriously, seriously incredible), the cold pool, the heated hammocks, the FOOD (smoked salmon on avocado rye bread with capers, droolworthy), bailey's latte? Yes please.. will be back, over and over.
amazing
I had a nice time at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa! A friend and I booked massages and spent the day using the amenities which were nice and relaxing – definitely a nice way to spend a Sunday! The spa itself is clean and well kept and I really did enjoy my relaxation massage, my therapist was great! I especially loved the steam rooms and the exfoliation cabin as a great way to complete the spa experience. I am trying to be understanding, as I realize the spa is still working on some things, but I would say that there are some areas that could use improvement. 1. While we were there they had a shortage of towels. Get more towels! 2. There are no indoor relaxation areas. 3. I was told that the hammocks were supposed to warm up, but when we asked the staff to turn them on for us, we were told there is no electricity connected to them, so they don’t heat up. 4. There could be a few more menu options at the café. 5. My massage treatment room had a small window in it with no coverings, so it was quite bright, I would have preferred a darker setting to relax more. Especially at one point when the sun was shining directly through the window. 6. More showers in the women’s change room – there are only 3 and there was a line up at most times throughout the day to use them. I am excited to see what the next phase of the spa will bring, and hopefully some of the kinks will be worked out next time I visit! I will be back :)
Likely one of the most relaxing days I have ever had. We came at roughly 10AM on a Sunday last year, and left a hour before closing; we lost count of how many cycles we completed. The lunch at the bistro in between was excellent as well - fresh and flavorful, great atmosphere, and there's something to be said about eating a lunch while wrapped up in those cozy house coats. Not an inexpensive day out, but if you take advantage of the full day I would say it is worth the cost. My partner and I are returning for our anniversary celebration this upcoming March, this time with a room booked for the night. We are very excited to return!
I don’t know about the other massage therapists, but thanks to Ted and BJ, we had the most amazing deep tissue massage! We like therapeutic, high pressure massages, and this was simply out of this world. The hot towels are a very nice touch. The combination with hydrotherapy made it even better. The Spa was enjoyable, as it was lovely to see the Rockies while relaxing in a tub and there was not many people. However, in my personal opinion, I find there are better spas for the price. Staff was very friendly and we were able to make our reservation for the massage within only a few days, which was awesome since we are on a short vacation.
A great spot! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back. It can get a bit crowded, and it seems like they haven't finished building it yet. Some pools etc. aren't open. Still worth the visit, very relaxing!
Very nice experience. Would return.
Beautiful and relaxing experience. Romantic getaway.
I could tell you tons of great things about this place... but the most important thing is to show up as early as you can.
The facilities are indisputably the best I have experienced. The entire experience however, was extremely disappointing. My friend and I booked our new years massage a month ago. I specifically said we must be with female therapists and at the same time, and the staff confirmed that this wouldn't be a problem. When I got my confirmation call and email in the days before we were both scheduled to be with females at 3pm. Then, the day of our appointment, after we had driven 2 hours and booked a hotel for a spa getaway they called me to say that do to "unforseen circumstances" one of us would have to be moved to 4:15 and be with a male. I expressed that this was extremely disappointing but that we would make the best of it. When I arrived I again asked if there was anyway we could both be put with female therapists and the women at the front desk was defensive and rude saying that we should have asked for that months ago, even though we did. Considering we paid a total of $400, drove 4 hours, and booked a hotel for this I expected a higher level of professionalism. We should have at the very least received an apology upon arrival and some sort of discount or compensation. I will say that the girl at the desk when we were checking out was apologetic, which made it a bit better. Spending time in the pools alone when everyone else is with friends, and being uncomfortable during your massage is no fun.
Amazing place
Relaxing, refreshing, and unique. Great get away experience here — gets old after the 3rd day in a row, but it was very enjoyable. Be sure to check out the Bistro which offers some delicious food!!!
I've lived in Calgary almost my whole life and this was the first time I've ever been to the Nordic spa! Wow is all I have to say, I wish I could've stayed all day. It was just what we needed and will be going back again soon. The cold plunge was my favorite followed my the exfoliation room and then saunas. But honestly, it was all really good and worth every penny.
The staff is very friendly and polite. The hydrotherapy spa is very unique and rejuvenating. Could spend all day here 5 hours didn't seem long enough
Amazing experience! The spa was lovely, food was great and I had the best massage of my life with BJ. The staff was warm and friendly and it was a fantastic time. High fives all around!
Fantastic facilities. Wonderful client care. Overall it was a fantastic day. Great massage (thanks Shannon) and the rest of the day doing,. Hot,warm, cold, rest, repeat.
Wonderful day spent relaxing. Great activity after a long winter activity. Clean facilities and very friendly staff
AMAZING. Atmosphere is like being Ina different world. Staff is friendly and directions are made very clear of how to get the best experience. Would also recommend heading up to the cafe for a light lunch or snack mid treatment. Service and food was exceptional. Would 100% highly recommend.
I visited the Kananaskis Nordic Spa last weekend with my partner and we were so delighted by the care of the staff members to create a safe and relaxing space. We had to book a time to arrive as a result of COVID, which I personally prefer to the previous system; and there were also limits to how many people could be in any given space to ensure social distancing could be adhered to. We also dined there and the food was fantastic as always! Finally, we wanted to give a shout out to Serena who helped check us in and was so kind to all the visitors, and she also went above and beyond to help my partner locate his missing phone (thank you Serena!). We had the absolute best day!
I will be back for sure! I spent the morning skiing at Nakiska and then an afternoon unwinding at Nordic. Amazing day! Beautiful and relaxing experience.
they were friendly and helpful
Beautiful, clean and well built. Morning ski and afternoon spa is the best! By the way, the bath robe are supplied. Not clear from their website.
Took my gf for her bday here. Super relaxing experience for the whole day! Great scenery and awesome overall time.
Nordic spa proves to be one of the most unique spa experiences in Western Canada and , globally competitive. The facility is clean and pleasant and the staff friendly and tentative. Booking a massage to personalize the experience is definate. Book a deep to tissue with B.J , his expertise and passion for massage is comforting!
First time going there, SUPER relaxing, definitely an incredible experience. Lots of small design details didn't match the feel of the spa, menu was weak, lots of small damaged items, knobs, tile, hooks, small things. I would go back for sure, the pools, saunas and steam were VERY nice.
Restful peaceful beautiful and breathtaking
Great place! I have been to a few places similar... Scandinave spa, Bota bota, etc. The only downfall and this did ruin my relaxation/experience is it is NOT a quiet place. The staff was loud in the pool areas and the guests. The beginning of the morning we were lucky enough to escape the more crowded areas but it was very loud with people talking and their voices carrying.
Our massage got double booked (and we weren't informed till a week or two out). I also got a wood splinter in my left foot from the sauna. Otherwise, the pools are very nice. Overall fun experience -- though unfortunate about massages being double booked.
I have been here twice - once in summer and once in winter. Both times I came here for a birthday and both was a pleasant experience. Winter: I really enjoyed coming here in the winter because the view is amazing. Everything is covered in snow while you are sitting in hot pools in your toque. The only thing is in the winter I chickened out to use the cold pool as it was just too chilly to enjoy. You are given really high quality bath robes that keep you warm, so if you bring that with a hat, you’ll be plenty warm going between pools. You can always also go inside for some water, or upstairs for snacks and drinks. It does get busy in the lounge and there might be a wait. Also come early on weekends to avoid waiting to go inside because the spa only lets a certain amount of people in at a time (which is amazing because it’s never too packed and you can fully enjoy yourself there). Summer: Summer is fun because you still get the spa experience without feeling cold as it’s all outside. I took advantage of the new restaurant there and although not cheap per say, it was very good and cosy. They were open to splitting up two dishes between three girls which just made the experience much nicer (see photos how it arrived). They also had hammocks that are warm and it was nice curling up in them for a mini nap between pools. I loved all the steam and sauna rooms - there is plenty of different options to try out. My favorite is the last part - the scrub they give you! USE IT. It’s 100% worth it. You take it into the designated steam room at the end of your visit and it leaves your skin feeling soft like a baby! It’s such a good way to finish your visit. The change rooms also have all supplies like dryers and hair straighteners and razors and lotions and hair spray. And of course unlimited towels. Lockers are big enough to fit your winter clothes and shoes so that is also nice. And the price of this place is very decent for what you get. Perfect affordable little getaway from the city! Would recommend 10/10.
I enjoyed my time here, but it’s not a 5 star in comparison to other spas I’ve been to in the “mountain areas”. Pricing - this place didn’t have the luxurious feel as some of the other “comparable priced” places I’ve been to. The massage was excellent, however the treatment rooms are just rooms, the amenities are standard and the customer service is hit and miss. Filling out the medical form 3x due to a software upgrade was disappointing, and clerical error to say that appointments were cancelled makes any person anxious. Even having long wait times on the reservation line can be a downer. When you get there - There’s really no instruction sheet, no welcome package and it was a surprise that the place to eat also closes at an awkward afternoon time. Do your homework when you get there!
The perfect ending to our honeymoon day!
This place maybe nice inside but good luck getting in. There is one receptionists for close to 75 people on a Saturday at 9am. She takes 10 mins a person or group no joke. Process is terrible. We waited OUTSIDE for an hour just to be put on a wait list. The picture is the line up behind us at 10 am. We were in line before it opened at 9 It’s an absolute joke the way they run this place. Stay away! We wish we did!!
Beautiful spot
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere. The lights in the pools, the steam coming off the water, gorgeous. The robes are large and comfy, which is a bonus. I however spent most of my time in the sauna, as that was the warmest place available. I expected the hot pools to be hot, the first dip in yes it is hot, but after you sit and relax after about 5 minutes you can almost feel yourself getting colder. I spent majority of my times in the hot pools seeking the warm water jets to get warmer. I'm a naturally really cold person, yes I did try the entire route and even went into the cold pool and tried the hot pools after, but its a brief reprieve from the cold, especially since it was raining on a chilly november night. For the price, I don't want to spend all of my time in a sauna just to get warm. If you are a cold person like me, don't come to these pools expecting actual hot pools that you might be used to, like from a hot-tub or hot spring. If I could offer this place a suggestion, it would be to take one of their hot pools and make it actually hot for those who want to feel like a lobster boiling in a pot.
Wonderful experience, place is awesome. Only suggestion would be to have maybe signs about noise etiquette (??) a few groups of fellow spa attendees were extremely loud and disruptive. Will be back, looking forward to the full experience with the saunas!
Beautiful spa and amazing service! To get to the spa park at the kananskis lodge parking lot there make your way up to the lodge and their lovely door man takes you to the spa. Main floor has the bistro and front desk to check in daily fee we paid $70 per adult. Recommend comming either morning or early afternoon to avoid crowds. Don't recommend the bistro, food was lacking not much flavour. Get the fruit bowl as a snack if you get hungry. Change rooms are amazing and have blow dryers, mouth wash, razors, hair product and everything you need. Spa provides you with sandals and robe. Also gives bath salts to exfoliate when your done. Over all really enjoyed this spot and definitely recommend to come by and see this spot for yourself. Definitely recommend to spend the day here
Exelent place.!!! To get out of the city ...they work with your benefits... therapists know what they are doing..... food was good.. price a bit high but totally worth it.. i try to go as much i can.....
Awesome getaway close to Calgary. Would be a 5 star for staff and the sauna. Could only give it a 4 star because a couple of the pools were closed.
I went with some girlfriends in November and we had the best time. The key is the know when your are going and make sure you time accordingly. They have a max capacity so if you go on the weekend and are not staying at the hotel, go very early. There is a line up to get in that is long. If you don’t get in you will be waiting all day to get in. Which is not so bad, we planned to go on a hike and have food if we had to wait. We ended up staying 7 hours it was so nice. One thing I would recommend is putting sizing on the shoes or something. I kept losing mine or they were taken from where I left them We loved the eucalyptus saunas (dry and wet) and the infrared was great. Great memories. Will return.
It was a great place. I enjoyed it a lot and would go again. My only issue is with their first come first served model, you end up waiting 2 hours to get it in. I think stays should be limited to cut down wait times.
Everything from check in to leaving was amazing. Such a great day to escape with a couple girlfriends, catch up, and relax in an amazing setting. The views were great, the bistro was amazing and staff were so sweet. The scrub at the end of the day was perfect too. I honestly can't say enough good things.
Love the saunas and pools! Can't wait to go back!
Pricey. 70$ per person. In Ontario similar spa costs 50$. It's not a quiet spa almost feels like it's a party..nice for some not for the ones that want to relax...also not enough lockers how we paying the same price to have to give our significant other to take into the men's locker for us.. was nice but over priced and needs to adopt a quiet type spa
I could "spa" here all day! The hydrotherapy circuit is insanely relaxing and the mountain setting just adds to the experience. I cannot wait to return, I have raved about the spa to everybody I know since our visit back in February of 2020. The fires stay lit, eventing stays tidy, and you never really see anybody... I think it might be little norse trolls keeping the place running. :P
Beautiful space but I felt like I was at a waterpark or a happy hour—not a spa. Needs to be more educational signage for the visitors about spa etiquette. It was the least relaxing “spa” I have ever visited and I felt like I was rushing through the circuits to escape loud people. Felt annoyed enough to leave earlier than I wanted to.
The spa is amazing! It’s in the beautiful Rockies, where you’re surrounded by trees and the outdoors. You can spend hours here and have such a relaxing day. Get a massage in the morning, do a circuit of the pools/saunas/steams, go upstairs and grab some lunch in your robe by the fire at Two Trees Bistro, and head back for more pool/sauna/steam time. It gets pretty busy here, especially on weekends, so book in advance!
Somewhat disappointing ...thought it would be more like its sister spas le Nordik (Ottawa) & Siberia (QC), which are amazing! However there were no silent areas, too many ppl, supplies ran out & were not stocked, & huge fences blocked the beautiful view. However, had one of the best massages of my life, staff were lovely, & the food was excellent.
Great setting and facility but the massive increase in price hurt a bit. The hot pool is not quite hot enough and the cold isn't quite cold enough.
Literally the worst system. They make you wait in for 2 hrs, to only later notify you that they have reached their max capacity. However, you can be added to their wait list of 5-7 hours (even though you’ve already booked a room at the lodge). Great service. Doesn’t need to be improved at all.
Loved the nordic spa!
Very relaxing. Amazing value, friendly staff and very clean. A short drive out of the city for a very worthwhile day of relaxation. Highly recommended!
Each time I've been back the experience has lowered my expectations. Price is way too high to keep me coming back since similar amenities are in closer proximity.
Relaxing, great staff, and beautiful views.
Excellent place to spend a day with your friends, but maintenance could be improved. I had to deal with broken shower heads and bathroom doors that didn't lock, as well as bathrooms being out of toilet paper early in the day. I was also disappointed that the $28 cheese plate came with Breton Garden Vegetable crackers, they did not pair well with anything else on the plate.
Absolutely beautiful place. Staff are great and place is high end spa for sure. Well worth the price for sure. I would recommend for everyone and will be returning. I had a great time relaxing, thanks so much to everyone at the spa. Truely a great experience for sure. Best part was the exfoliation cabin, hot and cold all at the same time.
Great place to relax after exploring the local wilderness. I have no complaints, the service was phenomenal and the added amenities really made it classy. Thanks to the staff!
Best spot for a date
Still under construction, but a nice place to relax for part of a day. Does not allow in and out privileges. In the ladies locker room shampoo, conditioner and body wash were available, but no lotion. Hair dryers, curling irons available. Swim suits required.
Best saunas and hottubs anywhere
Went on Monday May 13 as a getaway birthday present for my boyfriend. Upon arrival we were informed that the prices would be going up the same day, but we would not be charged the new priced which seemed nice, until we were told there was some “landscaping” happening at the moment closing 3 of the pools and the yoga / meditation area, but that it should reopened around 12( we came in at 11:30) no notice of price change or construction on the twitter feed that morning that could have forewarned us of this. The area that was open was quite lovely, the cycles were well explained and the facilities were beautiful and relaxing, however the constant noise from the construction and the forklift definitively got in the way of the relaxing atmosphere as it was quite loud. By 2:30 PM construction was still happening with no sign of stopping, so we decided to head inside to the bistro for a bite. I don’t write reviews as I work at a high end lounge and understand that things happen, but this is really when the experience started going downhill for me. We started with coffees and decided to share the $24 open face sandwich platter, and my boyfriend ordered the stew as well. I informed my waitress of my onion food intolerance and pointed out a specific item that had an onion relish, told her that being served on the side would be ok and I’d take any substitution or replacement the kitchen would offer. She comes back to tell me one of the items has onion in the sauce so they would be serving it dry and I said that was ok. When our food comes out there’s clearly onion relish in the item I had pointed out, I asked for it to be remade without the relish, she takes it away and comes back with THE SAME SANDWICH just with SOME of the relish removed. I flipped our cheese over and there were still onions left in it. After inquiring, I found out they were premade and it seemed nobody at their kitchen could make me a new one, she offered to switch it for something else, which we did. When we finish eating, server asked if we’re just grabbing the bill, I said no, we would like to order some desert and would appreciate a top Up on our coffees which we had not been offered yet. Desert comes out about 10 minutes later, but we still have no coffee. We ask manager and she says it’s being brewed. 15 minutes later we finally get our coffee. During the wait I go to reception to find out when the rest of the facilities will re-open as it is now 3:30, and I’m informed they are going to be closed all day, and construction continues. It was really disappointing as I was really looking forward to treating my loved one with a perfect and relaxing day, but all the little things really got in the way of this. I understand a new business has kinks to work out, but a lot of this things could have been so easily solved and prevented. I would warn anyone with dietary restrictions about their bistro, since they cannot produce fresh food as order( even at such high prices) and to call in advance if you’re going during the week to make sure the facilities are fully opened. All Things considered, i’d be willing to try them out again in a couple of months, maybe things will have improve by then, but yesterday I’d say our visit was slightly disappointing.
Worth the admission price, and a great relaxing way to spend the afternoon. There can be long wait times but if you are staying at the resort you can add your name to a wait list and will be called when a spot is available. They keep the admissions low enough that you never feel crowded.
Fantastic all the way around!
This are probably the best 70 bucks I've spent in a while. The location is superb and the staff to really makes you feel like home.
This Nordic spa has 2 cold, 2 warm, 2 hot pools. As well, with saunas, steam and exfoliating rooms. We went through 4 cycles from hot, warm, cold and repeat before steam rooms and exfoliating room. We really enjoyed the eucalyptus steam room. I also enjoyed the Alchemist more than my hubby. The only issue people were talking loudly and laughing throughout our spa experience. We could even hear their conversation in sauna rooms and they were in the hot pool. It almost felt like a party spa. If you are looking for a fully relaxing silent Nordic spa experience this is not the spa for you. If you don’t mind “noise” throughout your experience Kananaskis Nordic Spa is for you. The robes provided were nice and thick as it was -18 degrees Celsius outside. I appreciate they had size 5 sandals which you can ask staff in the changing room for a smaller size. When I went for shower in the woman’s changing room it was busy and ~50% were not wearing mask. I didn’t dry my hair as I wanted to exit quickly.
We had a first really good experience, but then we wanted to go back with our family visiting from France between Christmas and New year's Eve, we showed up at 10:30am and we were already on waiting list... Which is okay, but the waiting list system is not on point ! I think they should limit the time at 4 hours per entry so new customers can enjoy the spa, because at 3pm we were still on the waiting list !! (And we were only 30th on the list at 10:30am with a spa capacity of 300 people)... Very disappointing ! I think they're losing money here!
Lovely space, but needs updates. We attended yesterday and were disappointed to see two broken/closed saunas and the scrub room had two broken shower heads. (1 covered with tape and the other broken and spraying everywhere) Not the best when the prices are so high. Maybe they’re working on updating these issues.
Such a great experience! They provide you with robes and lockers and the area is nice and clean. Staff are friendly. They have 4 different pools numbered 1 through 4 and it's a style of hydrotherapy that's been popular in Scandinavia for generations. The 4 different pools take your body from extremely hot to extremely cold temperatures. There has been a recent price increase which might be the downside but it's still worth the experience. They also have steam rooms that are a fun experience too

Lovely ambiance, goood amenities and delicious food fireside at the Bistro.
Recently visited this Spa and I was disappointed. The price of this spa is over twice what you pay in other similar spas. For that price I expect the pools to be kept clean, not only were there calcium build up in the pools there were also a lot of bugs floating around without anyone cleaning the pools once in a while. The place didn’t smell like a spa, it smelt of old water. The main pool is being renovated, which wasn’t advertised on their website and no discount was offered, so as soon as you step outside into the spa area you are greeted with a work site. The place just seemed all round dirty and not spa like. There are only 4 hammocks which is clearly not enough for the amount of people they let in. For the price paid get a nice hotel in Calgary and use their spa facilities. Do not waste your time coming here especially if have been to other similar spas, this will disappoint.
Spa is beautiful! Really appreciated their continuos effort to help guests feel comfortable and safe. The pools are amazing and spa services only includes massages for now. They have a little in house bistro that you can dine in between pools and spa. They have nice little fire pits and hammocks that allows for additional relaxation. Hopefully the saunas will be open in phase III.
Great place to relax and unwind. We showed up 40 mins after they opened and were already on waitlist. Wasn't too long of a wait, approx 40 mins before we got a call and told us we have a spot. 2 hot pools, 2 warm pools, 1 cold plunge pool, and 4 different types of saunas. We had some food at the Bistro, and time goes by quick here. It's a good place to get away from the big city and leave the cell phone for a few hours. Highly recommended.
Nice and family friend environment.
Very nice place especially for winter getaway great service. I wish wehave more places like that
A very special place .. just wished the robes weren't $300
Bliss. Myself and two girlfriends went and we had a wonderful time. The spa itself is very clean, so many different areas and pools to enjoy. I would have preferred a policy of silence, like most other Nordic spas in Canada, since it gets so loud (think bachelorette party groups drunk and screaming at eachother from different pools - not enjoyable). The restaurant was very tasty, albiet quite expense($16 for a 3 inch torte?). Georgina the spa manager had gifted us with some treats since one of the massages we booked weeks in advanced was cancelled 3 days before we arrived. She was generous and, in light of one of us not getting the massage, it was still a very positive experience. I would certainly recommend the spa to others with just a heads up above the possibility of last min canceled massages and let them know it can be a rowdy place not necessarily the quiet retreat they may be looking for.
Loved the Hydrotherapy Cycle and our amazing Couples Massage! Loved the cozy robes and couches in the bistro. Body feels amazing ????
View and room amazing cannot wait until the spa is open. Have to go back
Had a great time
I have tried the spa for myself today and had a wonderful time. I recommend starting with the Steam Cabin followed by the Gathering Pool then into the Cold Plunge (cold plunge bucket available in steam cabin to ease you into it) and then rest in a hammock. For the 2nd cycle I suggest starting with Banya sauna then the nearby Hot Pool's lower bowl for the stronger jets then the Cold Plunge and then try out a hanging tent for a nap. If you can make it to the 3rd cycle I would start with the Infrared Sauna then the Gathering Pool again and the Cold Plunge followed by a rest under an umbrella in an Adirondack chair with a foot rest (or hammock if availale, heated in winter). Finally, finish off with an exfoliation scrub in the Exfoliation Cabin followed by a cleansing shower and shave in the washroom. I recommend coming early or late if you would like a more peaceful experience as they tend to sell out by 11AM and most people are on site by 2PM.
Most amazing experience
I have visited twice, and I will definitely be back. The staff are approachable, smiling, and very accommodating. The pools are clean and as are the saunas. Try and arrive early just before opening time, unless of course you have a massage booked. Be careful coming down from the steam rooms, towards the cool pool (in the freezing months). There is a slope and when it’s really cold, ice forms and it is and slipping hazard. I suggest adding a railing to that space!
Booking in is a nightmare, poor email system and rude on the phone.
Its in the mountains. Lounge around the pools in one of their hige cozy housecoats.
Pretty good, but it was really windy, snowy and cold outside when we went and that made it a lot less pleasant as far as the walking around in a robe between the stations. I’d go again but would opt for warmer weather:)
Definitely worth the visit! When I went, one of their pools were under maintenance unfortunately, so there were 2 hot pools, 1 warm pool, and the cold plunge...plus the saunas and steam rooms. My favourite one was the eucalyptus steam room. The hot pools weren't hot enough in my opinion, but the steam rooms definitely made up for that. The fun part was doing the cold plunge! The bistro had really good food and a chill ambiance! It was also awesome that they provided robes, towels, and slippers. They also give you a scrub for the exfoliation cabin, which you can take home if you don't use it. Their locker rooms are also very clean and there's a lot of products they provided (i.e., Body wash, lotion, hair gel). They give you keys to your locker so you won't have to worry about coins. Overall, it was a great experience, especially with the mountainous views. It would be better if we stayed overnight, and if it was in winter, but the cold plunge was very refreshing in summer! I would definitely go back again!
Went here yesterday. Had tried to get it on the weekend but it is very busy at this time of year as would be expected. I thought a monday would be more my pace, and was correct. We arrived in the afternoon and got in right away. Was a little confused after paying as to how to use the facility to its most as nothing was explained except where the changeroom was. However I had already read some info on the website thankfully. My complaints would be the lack of effort from the staff and that it was far to loud. Nobody informed us to be quiet though it was our understanding that was proper etiquette. It felt like every other guest was unaware of this. People were talking loudly everywhere we went... when we tried to relax in one of the hammocks other guests were screaming while walking into the cold tub... I did not see the staff ask anyone to be quiet. Two of the saunas were not hot which was also disapointing, they had temperatures posted on the doors from when they were checked at 11 am but it was now 4 pm and they were no longer hot. Having paid $70 each I was pretty disapointed with the experience. The spa has full potential of being worth this price with how beautiful it is. But the lack of effort from staff and the other guests unfortunately make it feel like a $35 experience... I spend a lot of time in kananaskis so I hope they can improve because it is something I would want to use more if it was as good as advertised.
Went on a Sunday morning and was told there was a “5-7hr wait time” (standard) to access the pools. When ever we finally got in 5 hours later, the place felt empty and there was less than 60 people using the pools/saunas despite the occupancy limit being over 200 people. Pools with a maximum occupancy of 30 people had only 2-4 people at one time. As we were checking out around 6:30pm (with approximately 60 people in the pools) we over heard them telling another customer there would be a 4-5 hour wait time, despite closing at 9pm. In addition, two of the shower heads in the exfoliation room weren’t working. Overall - overpriced and they were forcing excessively long wait times to encourage customers to buy overpriced food and drink in the hotel lobby while they wait.
Our hiking plans were rained out so we spent an impromptu day at the spa! What an amazing way to spend a rainy day, the pools felt so good and the infrared spa is a cool idea for sore muscles! Sitting in the cold pool and relaxing your breathing is such a zen experience, everyone should try it.
The most relaxing place!
Best escape close to home
Beautiful property with a variety of pools and saunas....a perfect spa in the middle of the mountains.
As an avid spa goer I was pretty disappointed with the experience. The staff was great at listening to my complaints. I felt heard and they did their best to compensate me, but until they make changes such as having proper face cradle covers so clients can breathe during a massage, improve the food quality, have shade available for hot sunny days, ensure clients shower before entering the pool and control the noise level of their guests, I'd rather recharge by hiking in k-country and to the spa in Calgary. I was informed that the new phase will include a quiet area, but as my sister said that's like having a smoking and non smoking area on a plane. People were so loud that we could hear them from outside when we were in the sauna. I wish the spa the best of luck. The facilities were beautiful and their construction people were quiet and respectful of the spa environment even if some of the guests weren't. Hopefully it'll evolve into something more like the other Nordic spas in Canada.
A lovely place to unwind and relax. After spending a day at the Nordic Spa I had the " I just got back from the spa and nothing can ruin my mood" energy. I will definitely be back as soon as I can. The only thing that could be improved at the spa would be the number of showers & their placement. However besides that it was absolutely perfect ????????????
A great day with family after the funeral of my mother. We loved everything about it; surrounded by nature, we did the hot, warm, cold, relax circuit three times with a break in between with white wine and sandwiches at the bistro...we didn't even have to get out of our bathing suits as the staff allow the provided comfy robes in the bistro. My shattered soul began healing. Management Tip: Think of installing swimsuit spinners (dryers) in the change ares.
I would like to give this a higher review, but there are things they need to improve on. First, answer your phone. I wanted to know the wait times for the spa, and there is no way to find this out. Deduct one star. I left a message to call back but there was silence. There is a link on the web site that sends to a twitter feed, but that only works if someone tweets the wait times. There was no mention of a wait so we made the trek from Calgary (not too far, 1hr) but on our arrival found out there was a 2 hour wait. We had a meal and went for a walk then were able to enter pretty much on the 2hr mark, so their estimate was accurate. Unfortunately, we were advised that the 'hot pool' was under maintenance. Deduct another star. We spend a couple of hours in the spa, and that was nice, but the mint sauna did not seem to generate steam, and the eucalyptus sauna was pouring out the steam - something wasn't working quite right there. Deduct another star. Oddly, just as we were leaving, I received a call back, some 5 hours later. Deduct another star. I hope they succeed, because I do like what they have to offer and the price is reasonable. Maybe the bugs aren't quite worked out of the system yet.
Spa is relaxing
A day in the pools and sauna cabins was lovely on a cool summer day and would be great in winter. Food was tiny servings for huge prices. Don't bother with a massage. $160 for an hour with inexperienced masseuses. Also, you can no longer get pedis, manis, body wraps, etc. which is what we were looking forward to the most.
The spa is wonderful. Spent about 8 hours here in the many different hot tubes and saunas. We also enjoyed lunch at the little bistro above the spa. Would highly recommend!
So wonderful! Went for one night and enjoyed 4 hours in the pools and got an hour massage. Now I have to say it was a bit expensive for an hour massage, but it was an AMAZING massage. We spend 4 hours going through the pools and steam rooms which totally helped make the massage even better. Would recommend to those needing a quiet night escape and self care, a girls weekend, or a couples retreat.
Great facilities and amenities. Scheduling a day here is the perfect addition to a mountain getaway. Lots of chatter/talking would be the only drawback (in my opinion), but everything else is on point!
Their Covid protocol make it a good idea to book WELL in advance, however once you’re there the experience is well worth it. It’s organized, flows well, and the pools and saunas are transcendent. The two trees bistro is also delightful. The experience is just amazing and well worth the price of admission!
I decided to treat my mother and I this last weekend to the hotel and nordic spa attached. I may have had above average expectations for this establishment due to me being from Winnipeg where another nordic spa, Thermea is located. To start off, I would like to say the spa itself is gorgeously decorated, staff were friendly, and the views were lovely. I was beyond excited to see a place like this finally be built in my backyard, but when finally going, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. My mother and I planned this amazing weekend and once arriving it came to our attention that half of the amenities were not open. More or less just the pools, exfoliating room, and saunas. We originally wanted to book a massage appointment, which is advertised on their website and social media, but when calling, this amenity was not up and running. Wonderfully heated hammocks were also available, but only 3 or 4, which were quickly snatched up for the remainder of our time there. Additionally, the construction was for sure an eye sore and took away from the experience. A major appealing aspect to the nordic spa is the "nap rooms" where you can spend a a great deal of time in. This was also not available yet. After spending 1 hour there we decided to shower and freshen up. When going to the powder room there was no lotion, q tips, or makeup wipes. This is something that is routinely supplied to spa customers. When bringing this up politely to the front desk, there response was simply, "sorry we are ordering that stuff, it should be in soon." If this is the case, I am curious as to why we are being charged full price when I personally felt like they were not ready to open yet. Regardless, the idea of having a spa like this is timeless in Alberta. I do believe that a lot of work and time has gone into this project, but can't get past the idea that they prematurely launched. I am hoping as time progresses this spa will be able to reach its full potential.
Overpriced for a lot of broken things. Paying $85 per person is already a lot of cash to part with then to have your experience worsened with all the broken things does not make me want to come back or recommend to anyone I know. -Barrel Sauna closed -Steam room closed -Only 1 of 4 shower heads in exfoliating hut were working -showers could be cleaner and some broken bits This place has only been open for a few years and this is the state it's in is pretty bad. I don't think it will last if there prices stay that high and nothing gets fixed. I do enjoy a good sauna and this place does have that. I would definitely give higher stars if they fixed the place up and had a more affordable price.
Have been twice this year. The girls love it, kind of fond of it myself. Facility and staff are fantastic. The scented steam rooms are great for body recovery and the massage people are second to none. Bistro food and drinks are nice, we will be back again before the end of the year! Bravo.
Great views. Still some growing pains and construction.
So beautiful! Have been a few times now, and enjoy it every time! The wait time to get in can be quite long, but you forget about it once your inside!
Very relaxing. Lots of options for pools, saunas and steam rooms. Massages and couples massages are available.
What an amazing location for a spa! A few reviews commented on how pricey it is but i would have to disagree. I found the price was great considering everything that is available, not to mention the beautiful mountain location. The spa was very clean and the staff were helpful. My favourite were the steam rooms and the plunge pool. I do wish the hammocks heated up (although I didn’t ask so maybe they did and i just didn’t know how) and i agree with another review that there was a lineup for the showers in the ladies change rooms - there should be more. I booked a massage and i was very impressed - by far one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Overall, can’t wait to come back and i wish i could do this monthly. Thank you for the most relaxing weekend getaway!!
I would've given it a 5 star but there was a pool under construction while we were there and it was an eyesore. Other than that it was a beautiful experience
Great! Super relaxing
The massage therapist did a great job. However I couldn't access the hydrotherapy after my massage due to a confusion between their booking agent and facility. Booking agent told me that I can access the hydrotherapy after my massage at 2:30pm meanwhile when I got there they didn't let me access it after my massage and told me that there was nothing they could to help me.
Great pools and great servers
Excellent place to relax! Come very early, as there is usually a wait list, or book a spa treatment, which includes complimentary access to the Nordic spa without wait.
Such an amazing experience. They've thought of absolutely everything to make the experience flawless. The pools, saunas and steams are fantastic. The day was really wonderful. As an aside: The cafe could have used some help in quantity planning as they were out of 2/3 appetizers by 3 pm. Open til 9 so, poor planning. Server was very sweet and accommodating.
Amazing place. You have to go right now. You're welcome! No cameras, minors, or cell phones allowed it's perfect in every way. Yes they're licensed. Dine in your spa robe! Yes parking is free! Enjoy!
Wonderful reception and concierge services.
Absolutely one of the best, top rated spa's outside of tropical destination spa's. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful atmosphere, well maintained, and exceptionally professional services. Its the envirnoment you want to escape to if livng in Albert.
It's a great spot, lovely and relaxing BUT ladies be warned. When it's busy, there are only 3 showers so you'll be waiting. I'm surprised at how little showers they have versus the amount of lockers. Too many lockers, too little showers.
Expensive spa and budget seating.
My husband and I went for the day and had an incredible time. It was worth every second. As more time went by, we felt more and more relaxed and tuned in with each other. Highly recommend the Nordic Spa!
The spa itself was fantastic -we had a massage as well, and that too was wonderful. We had lunch in the Bistro, which was great. Overall, we finished the day feeing relaxed and happy. Until we paid..... Deduct one star for the awkward, unpleasant experience upon checking out and paying for our services. The front desk asks you, out loud, in front of other customers "How much do you want to tip"? I was taken aback as normally you tip when you pay on the credit card machine, and you decide that amount yourself, privately, and you don't exclaim what you are tipping to the rest of the spa and customers. We found it very tacky and inappropriate to have to tell the front desk girl outloud how much we wanted to tip. We were bothered by this, and sadly let the spa with a bad taste in our mouths. It kind of reversed the relax.
In need of rest areas out of the cold
Very nice place
So relaxing and great surroundings.
Been coming here since it first opened. Although the spa has expanded from the beginning the value has certainly gone down. The exfoliation cabin looks moldy and has yellowed in almost every corner. Tiles in the hot pool can be seen falling out and missing. Both times I’ve been here in 2021 the hot pool was not functioning and not hot at all. The massage rooms are very bare and basic and not even a candle or ambiance for the price. Overall it’s a one hit wonder and they’ve really lost their value yet increased the price.
Very nice, we'll set up, not too crowded. Decently long wait time to get in, and fairly expensive though.
Wonderful relaxing spa... Numerous pools to soak in, steam and suanas...the atmosphere was perfect winter mountain.
Google shows this place kinda behind the Pomeroy hotel. However there wasn't any signage, but we still managed to find it. This place is so great. Three pools. You follow hydrotherapy rules from hottest to coolest and then a 20 min break and repeat 2 or 3 times. Also there are 3 or 4 different types of saunas/steam bath areas. There is a cedar sauna, eucalyptus type scented steam sauna and one other type. Also there is an exfoliating sauna/shower area. Where you rub your skin with salt and oils and rinse yourself off. Your skin feels so great after. This place is also adult only...no one under 18. They are still under some final construction, we got a little discount cause of construction, it was barely noticeable. They also offer massages by appointment only. Very nice....I will definitely be back.
Lodge and spa were great. Nordic Spa was really relaxing. Beds were comfy. Room temps were nice when the space heater was on. Overall, it was a really nice stay in February.
Just came back from my first visit to the Nordic Spa and I enjoyed my visit. I used their new online booking service to book my massage and hydrotherapy time, and it was easy to do, the only thing I would suggest is that I did not receive an email confirmation, which I like to have. The website clearly states that one of the pools is closed, so I was expecting that. There were staff moving around the spa throughout the day to keep it clean. I had lunch at the Two Trees Bistro, which I enjoyed. I love the no cell phones policy. Marty was my massage therapist. I had booked an aromatherapy massage, and I enjoyed it very much. I only have a couple of minor suggestions. One, I am plus sized, and I found the robe to be too small for me, I would have liked to have a larger size. Also, since I don't drink, so I would have preferred a better selection of soft drinks in the Two Trees Bistro. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and hope to return! Recommended for a relaxing break in the mountains.
I absolutely loved my experience here. My advice would be to go on a weekday because weekends draw either big groups of Day trippers or bachelorette parties where the facilities can get loud. The food at the bistro is phenomenal!
Overall, it’s a really relaxing and unique experience. I’ll go back one day BUT there’s a lot they could improve. It’s not super fancy and that’s ok... but only three showers for all the people entering and leaving the spa resulted in a lot of people standing and waiting, as well as a mess in the showers which made me thankful for the thick rubber shoes provided to us. We booked a spa package with the hotel and the details in our welcome bag weren’t instructive on how to use the facilities, so we assumed they would tell us when we arrived. However, the front desk also provided us with no information at all. We told the receptionist our names and all she said was “good to go”. We asked- is that it? And she just said yes and began helping the next customers. So we ended up eating a bit in the attached restaurant (great food and service there!) and later asking a different receptionist for some guidance. She provided us with a map and quick explanation. There’s also posters all over when you enter, but none of them really have all the info. One poster mentions timings for each station, the other posters don’t. We only found one poster with the temperatures of each area (which helps you to understand why there are so many saunas) by the towels and the towel attendant then also told us about the salts for the exfoliation area and gave us some more tips about using the facilities, which you would assume would be included in a welcome letter package. In the end, we had a great time and really enjoyed the experience. But they are lacking in a few areas for sure. It’s a new facility so hopefully some of the kinks are worked out over time.
My wife and I had an amazing time. We appreciated how all the staff were clear in direction and how well kept the place was. In this time of having to keep everything clean we both felt safe and comfortable the whole time. It was great. Well worth the trip.
Everything you need. Very clean and modern
Another great day at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa. We spent the whole day, enjoyed lots of sunshine, wonderful mountain view, as well as a nice "Hot Pot" and charcuterie board at the bistro. No lineups or waitlist today. Very friendly staff.
I was really wanting to fall in love with the spa and hotel. I booked the pricy spa package, and called to get advise on my stay. With that being said I was surprised to learn on arrival that the hotel had no availability for parking, and I was to pay an additional fee to use the basement parking. I was also informed while checking in that all the restaurants had been fully booked (outside of mediocre pub food or overpriced in-room dining). No big deal, I am a very optimistic person and was looking forward to the spa. I was really disappointed to learn that I could not book a massage, and that one of the larger pools was under construction. None of the pools have jets, no photography is allowed, and you are not allowed to leave and return. This forces you to hope that you can enter the first come, first serve Cafe. This was an expensive trip, with very little return. If I knew all of the above information before booking, I think I would have had a much better time. I will plan differently, if I ever return. Here are some positive notes....great customer service in the hotel, and all area's where very very clean.
Spa was beautiful ! Multiple pools and saunas, great day to relax. Problem was it took 4.5 hours to get in. This one is for management maybe take a deep dive into your booking process. Yes weekends are busy but over 4 hours wait only 45 mins after opening. Most guests are driving almost an hour from either direction to be stuck waiting it out in spending ridiculous amounts of money in your restaurants or forced to head off site wasting more time and money. A simple online booking tool would help this, obviously you have a product people enjoy don’t spoil it by unreasonable wait times !
Can't beat it. A must do .
Awesome place, but has some way to go to be on par with Le Nordik and Scandinavian baths in Whistler and Blue Mountain. More expensive than both for less space and services. Needs an enclosed gazebo with fire pit for colder weather. Would still recommend and come again, nonetheless, as nothing else is available in AB.
Excellent place!
Marty is the best massage therapist... He worked on problems I didn't even know I had. The pool, sauna, and lounge dining experience is so great... Beautiful setting, perfect for our girls rejuvenation weekend!
Very nice facility. A good variety of pools, saunas and steam rooms. Great staff.
This spa is amazing. We happened to have gone at the end of Sep 2019, it snowed that weekend which made the experience even better.
This is my second time staying at the hotel and the spa. For the price of the hotel it was not up to standards. There were tons of dead bugs in the light above the table. The black fan was covered in dust and almost white. one thing that was slightly inconvenient was the ice was smelled and tasted like well water. You would think spending over $650 a night the ice would be purified for guests. Using it in our drinks wrecked them and made it smell and taste like well water. We called for pillows and blankets 2 times and was over 2 hours before they came. When i checked out of the hotel the bill was different from what i had been charged from Expedia. When i called to inquire why they said it was an accident and they charged me an old rate on the bill from the hotel. They said they would send an apology email. I haven't received anything. The spa experience was great. The service at the bistro a bit frustrating. I think the staff was all new. ( which is fine, but again for the price) Any question we had they were unsure, the waitress wasnt able to split the bill after 30 mins of waiting and getting it wrong we just put it on one bill. Staying at this hotel is convenient for the spa but for the price we expected slightly better accommodations.
Absolutely an amazing day. Loved it and will do it again. Make sure you do a little reading before you go. If you want to go on the weekend be prepared to go early, like be there, in line, at 8:00 am.
Great Atmosphere, very clean, very relaxing!
Great spa but people are to loud. I go to a spa to relax not to hear problems of other guests. Because of that I find it overpriced.
This place is unbelievably cool. I'd post photos, but they have a strict no-tech policy which makes it all the better. Relaxed myself into near comatose state... Needed an ice cold dunk to wake up. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Massages and facility were superb
If I'm being honest I was a bit disappointed with the overall experience. The facilities and amenities were all world class and amazing, and the massage treatment was phenomenal. However, I would not recommend this place for a quiet spa day getaway where you can unwind and totally destress from everyday life. The pool areas are very loud making it hard to relax and there is not guideline or enforcement for noise levels. My wife and I were shocked to find out that its not a quiet spa. Perhaps this is my fault for not doing enough research, but I never thought a luxurious, expensive, and popular spa would not have a better quiet policy for relaxing like many other spas. Additionally, one of the main large pools was under construction adding additional noise and causing the other pools to feel crowded. Would likely not book again due to price and noise levels. I prefer quiet spas for relaxation.
My experience was different, but manager have followed-up and offer a compensation. Kuddos for the customer service!
Being Albertan and being fortunate to have travelled the world this is one of the best places not only in Alberta but Canada at large. Secluded, relaxing, value for money, perfect experience.
Amazing amazing amazing experience, I love this place it is so submerssive and truly relaxing. Get ready to fork out big bucks, but for an annual retreat it is so worth it. They also have a really nice little restaurant inside the spa that has great food and appys. There's a nice chill cozy lounge with fireplaces in the main entrance too.
Fantastic Spa. Definitely worth a stop for some R&R
Incredible place to relax and take in the outdoors.
Great 100% recommend
LOL. Got here at 9:30 this place opens at 9. 3-5 hour wait and apparently they have a 260 person capacity?! I see 5 people in the pools right now and there’s no way 255 people are currently getting massages. What a joke. Waste of time. Save yourself the headache and don’t bother trying to get in.
The Nordic Spa is extremely well thought out. Staff all went above and beyond. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone. Completely worth the time and money.
These photos are from the bar in the Pomeroy Kananakis Mountain Lodge. The Spa unfortunately is a no camera bo photo zone. But can i express how amazing it was. We did the Hot, warm and cold water. With the snow covered trees in the backdrop. Exfoliating Sauna. Very romantic kind of setting.

The spa & spa services were amazing. There was a lot of confusion on where to go and what to do after you check in for spa services. They're still new with some kinks to work out. My first two lockers I got did not have towels or a robe. I had to keep going back to reception as there was no one in the locker rooms.
Wonderful spa facility! The pools of various temperatures are superb and there are various saunas food at the new Two Trees Bistro has a great selection of gluten free and allergy awareness options. Connected to great hotels or can drop-in for the day
This place was great, super relaxing, great mix of tubs, good restaurant, superb staff
Beautiful!! Go early to avoid long queue ???? I could stay all day here
Do it, don't debate this or hum or ah. Just go and do it. Sit in the pools relax and forget about everything outside of these walls. The cold plunge is not as bad as you work it up to be in your head, it feels amazing.
Great value. Very nice facility. I imagine it would be amazing in winter. Locker room is small and if you dont get there early enough you may not get one. I also was surprised to see single use plastic cups for water in such a high end establishment.
I visited Kananaskis Nordic Spa twice and won't be back. In the short space of several months between the visits the spa has definitely gone down. During my latest visit the saunas were not maintained properly (temperatures too low, rubbish left around), there were too many visitors, everything was overcrowded and noisy. Not a relaxing atmosphere I had experienced during my first visit, and certainly not what I was looking for. Plus the prices have gone up. Overall, it's simply not worth it.
Yes, it is a wonderful layout, amazing spa but I thought I was at a public swimming pool. It was so loud and people would not be quiet. They were completely ignorant of spa etiquette which means BE QUIET! It is as much for your mind as your body. This surprised me because there were so many international people. I would think they would be more sophisticated. I will go again on a freezing cold weekday and hopefully will get some peace of mind.
I've been to a lot of nordic spas, and this one doesn't quite stack up. It is more expensive and significantly smaller than other spas (Whistler, Le Nordic in Quebec, etc) and it is difficult to relax as there are no quiet areas. It is a beautiful location, being right in the mountains, however I don't think it is worth the cost.
Beautiful spa nestled in the mountains. Come during the week as the weekend can be busy. They provide sandals, robes, towels, exfoliating salts and beautiful views. I love the steam rooms and the Finnish Sauna. Great place for a girls weekend away.
Absolutely loved the spa itself. Great experience. But the wait times were dealt with poorly. I have no problem waiting, and having read previous reviews I knew there would be a wait. When we arrived we were told the was a wait of 2-3 hours. We went for lunch, hiked, etc, to kill the time. When we came back after 3 1/2 hours we were told they were only halfway to our place on the wait list and they we were looking at another 2 hour wait from that point. So in other words a wait of 2-3 hours became a wait of up to 5 1/2 hours at the end. Again, I have no problem waiting, but would expect by this point the spa would be able to provide accurate wait times. Once we got in we had a fabulous time, but the wait list put a damper on the experience. Next time I come it will likely be during the week to hopefully avoid this issue.
Visited the Spa during the Polar Vortex with temperatures around the minus 40 Celsius mark. It was lovely tho – the pools kept us very warm and the aromatherapy saunas were very relaxing. Had the place to ourselves pretty much as the frigid weather scared most off. Nice sample of exfoliation scrub included in the passes to use in the saunas. My boyfriend and I wanted to take photos, but they do not allow cell phones in the pools – most likely to avoid damage liability. Will definitely visit again!
If you have a massage booked, make sure to get there early to be able to change into your robes. The robes are one size fits all, so being quite petite I was drowning in it and it kept dragging on the floor. It would have been nice to have different sizes. The massage was lovely. The hydrotherapy was an awesome experience, with so many different choices for the hot cycle. It's too bad that the main warm pool was under renovation, however we didn't encounter too many people at each step in the cycle. The bistro was great for food options. The hours for the bistro were listed as 10am to 2pm for the morning session and 4pm to 8pm for the evening session. I would have preferred a bit more explanation on the towels as I wasn't sure if I was allowed to swap them out or not, however there is a towel station in the locker rooms. Also, each locker is supposed to have a plastic bag to carry around your mask, however one was missing. Regarding masks, they weren't required when outside or in the saunas/steam rooms.
Loved the pools outside, very relaxing. All of the saunas are very different and neat to experience. Didn't do a massage this time, but we will have to next time for sure. A little on the pricy side, but you definitely get what you pay for. They provide you with everything you could possibly need, hair elastics for the ladies, comfy robes and flip flops, everything! For sure a nice little outing for a day trip, or if you're staying at the Pomeroy, it's only a short walk away!
The best birthday celebration I had
No resting area outside, chairs and hammac are frozen, the guy working outside said he could clean it up for us but either way it’s so frozen we can’t even lay in it. A nordic spa should be prepare for cold temperature at all time!! The only rest area available is upstairs near the reception where heathers are barely working I ask the girl at the reception she said it was suppose to be on, did nothing more..! Bistro in spa is close + eucalyptus spa too, and NO Silent area everyone outside is talking loud.... I mean for 180$ with a massage or even 85$ for just the entrance with half of the amentites not working I think that’s not ok for anyone to pay that.. Been to nordic spas around the country thats probably one of the most expensive one with the least accomodations...
Always a pleasure to visit what we still call the Delta K .
Absolutely love it here! This is our favourite mini getaway. Staff are great as well :)
Great place very good massages
Great nordic spa place. Make sure to experience the steam cabin, especially when the steam is generated. Food was great (go for the smoke salmon sandwich). Best time would be to go in the early morning or late night. It can get crowded in the afternoon
After a quick Friday check-in, we hit the heated pools. In all honesty they were pretty gross. A lot of floating debris, hair etc. Headed up for a massage which was good. Showered, and went to check out. The booking had been made over a month in advance and as we were about to pay we were informed that as of that day the weekend prices were being increased by $50. Needless to say, having booked over a month in advance, and not being made aware of this leading up to the date we were not impressed. It was a pretty dirty move on their part.
It's nice and it's pricey. As much as I enjoyed it, the cost is prohibitive. The gathering pool was closed which means you have to walk all the way across the spa for the warm pool and it was quite cold out. The fires definitely need to be a bit bigger for the rest periods as they give off very little warmth and it makes doing the hydrotherapy difficult. Lastly, don't eat there. Very over priced for what you get. The menu is small with few choices. To top it of, our server was extremely unprofessional. She ignored us most of the time and sat with her friends and talked about how much she disliked her job. I'll definitely give the spa a try again, though not for awhile due to cost. I definitely won't be eating there again though.
Amazing experience
Been attempting to call for 3-4 days. No one answers the phone or emails. Surely for the amount you charge you could hire an additional person to accept bookings for the people wanting to spend even more money.
I enjoyed this spa. The restaurant was the only issue, the salad I had was terrible but at least the wine was good lol
Absolutely amazing!!!!
Amazing foot of hills
We had a WONDERFUL day today :) this will be a routine. Food was delicious! Portions perfect for sharing. A lot of reviews criticized pricing/sizes , I didn’t agree we thought it was priced for the establishment. If you spend $89 for day access a 15-25$ fresh prepared meal is adequate. Also you get to enjoy it on comfy couches under big cozy blankets in a very relaxed environment. Shampoo and conditioner was amazing and the vanity area where we got ready for the rest of our day was delightful. We were thrilled with our experience and can’t wait to come back !
great place to relax
Should have been a 5 star considering the price point and advertising. The biggest draw for us was the heated bags for the outdoor hammock. We were not informed that these were unavailable due to "difficulty in sanitizing". If we had known, a Canmore or Banff spa would have been the destination. This is an item that's easily fogged, or even sanitized with uv. That being said we did enjoy the other areas of the spa, the ones that were open. The message was fantastic and dining was great.
Amazing facility; poorly managed at best.. We've been to the facility several times for couples and/or relaxation massages. Don't get me wrong, once you're through the doors at the facility, it's beautiful and lives up to your expectation. However, every attempt to visit the facility is faced with difficulty and frustration. We've tried booking the day before, the week before, and even months before and the staff has the same level of tardiness answering phone/email requests after multiple attempts. A simple fix to all these issues would be an online booking system, a person employed to answer phones/emails, or a much needed restructuring of management to be client experience focused. I understand the attitude of the staff is very much "we run an exclusive facility with no need to improve as there is a 3 hour waitlist". But service and reputation is what keeps loyal patrons happy and coming back for years to come.
Absolutely amazing! My Queen and I, decided to go off the grid this Saturday. We last min thought of driving to the Nordic Spa to test it out. From the moment we got there the staff took care of us. The message was amazing and the Hot Cold therapy Circuit was incredible. I highly recommend anyone to go here and just unplug to recharge. PS. The food was also amazing, and the staff took care of us with all of the food restrictions we have.
Interesting place to check out. Go in the late afternoon or early morning as it gets very busy. Very expensive, but that's a given. Restaurant is not great, so pack your own lunch and come back to the spa when you are done.
Great atmosphere, fantastic therapy pools and saunas. Would definitely do it all over again. Oh and the best views of the rockies.
Excellent massages and clean facilities. However I did lower my rating as I found it impossible to reach someone at the front desk when booking services and prior to arrival. I would call multiple times in a day and end up leaving a message, only to have different people calling me back trying to reach me. A spa this busy should have a dedicated receptionist. Otherwise I do recommend the Nordic Spa!
It's beautiful and it's outdoors. A great place to go for the day to relax.
Unbelievable experience surrounded by the wilderness. Truly does help the aches and pains of the body to go away
Absolutely fantastic ! Very relaxing and enjoyable.
Was great but under construction.
Beautiful Resort!!
Loved it
I went to the Nordic Spa with my sisters and we had such an amazing time! The staff was super friendly and the spa itself was spotless. We spent nearly 7 hours enjoying the facilities and it was worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a relaxing and reflective getaway. Cheers!
Gorgeous spa, could, and did, spend all day there. Food and drinks are more pricier but expected like most tourist mountain towns. Would reccomend going in morning if just purchasing entrance, as wait times can be long in afternoon. Paid for the massage, which included entrance into spa at any time of the day.
I had a great visit to the Nordic Spa! With all of their COVID protocols in place I felt very safe, and had an incredibly enjoyable experience. I was a little sad that the exfoliation room was closed (understandably) - suggestion going forward, while the exfoliation room continues to be closed, send guests home with that small container of scrub so they can enjoy at home! My only criticism would be at the end of the day for me (I had a morning ticket) I felt incredibly rushed to get out. Again, I totally understand the need to clean everything prior to the afternoon guests arriving, however if you need everyone out by 2:30, close the pools etc. at 2:00pm so guests can maintain the clam, relaxing feelings the spa gives and carry it home with them instead of feeling stressed an rushed to get the heck out!
Had amazing massage and was able to enjoy the pools as well. Very good experience.
This place was lovely! The line up to check in was confusing to people and when I mentioned it to the front desk girl she kind of snapped at me saying it usually works, when she checked us in she didnt tell us anything about the spa and how it works. Once we got in and figured it all out it was so nice. My favourite was the steam cabin. The staff inside the spa were all incredible and super helpful. The bistro was so nice and I loved the blankets they provided. I will definitely be back!
A great whole day experience. Wonderful selection of pools and saunas/steam rooms. It was the best lazy day I've had in recent times. I would recommend dining at the hotel as opposed to the spa. The food quality and choices are so much better. The hotel also accepts AMEX, the spa does not.
Why aren’t you giving discounts for the giant pit in the middle of the spa? Food availability consists of a sandwich during the 5 hour stay and costs you 25 dollars.
Go after 730.. less people, only 35$
This place is awesome They have indoor and outdoor Heated pool
V poor customer service. System is shoddy. First time we went, they cancelled us last minute citing “emergency health situation”. But when I looked over, there were still 20 people enjoying the spas. They then “offered” to compensate me by rebooking me a week later. With no consideration of the cost and time required for us to travel here twice! Then second time, despite the two emails indicating that I had been rebooked, they could not find my reservation. They had to start all over. It took over 20 min to check me in… again. Overall, no one seemed to know the system or be willing to accommodate for their poor service.
Amazing! Nestled right in the mountains where you can see beautiful views.
This rating is based on the lack of communication. It's impossible to find an open time on their booking app and no one replies to social media DMs.
Amazingly romantic and definitely worth it!! A must visit
Wonderful experience! We did the massage and soak and it was so worth it!
Had an amazing day here! The spa is beautiful and very relaxing. There are 2 hot pools, 2 warm pools, a cold plunge pool and numerous hammocks and saunas/steam rooms throughout. There are lockers provided to store all belongings, showers for afterwards with hair dryers, curling irons and flat irons provided. We ended up spending the rest station upstairs drinking tea, eating sandwiches and fruit platters. They’ve thought of everything (comfy robes and slippers, drinking water to hydrate, women’s essentials, scrubs for the exfoliation station, even mouthwash if you need it). We were there for almost 7 hours just doing the hydrotherapy circuit on repeat at our own leisurely pace while enjoying the view of the mountains around us. Favourites were the Finnish sauna, eucalyptus steam room and the warm pools. We will be back!
I loved the experience with the pools, steam rooms and saunas. Cozy robes and a nice cafe to have lunch in with amazing views. Unfortunately the massage experience was sub par. On average I get a massage a couple times a month, and perhaps they are working out these issues with consistency and quality of treatments (as I understand parts of this facility are new) but I would currently not recommend those services. Price is high comparatively and the experience was far below expectation. Would recommend the pools, etc. Go early! I also might recommend you bring your own hair dryer if you need to dry your hair. Or maybe one (slightly odd?) recommendation for the staff would be that with the high volume of people drying off and using the dryers, to clean the lint screens often. All were almost unusable because of build up.
Paid for a day only to be turned away after we quickly went to get food
Tried this spa and it was awesome. Love how all saunas are outside and shared. Will come again In winter, hopefully second phase will be open.
Great place to go
Incredible experience. I am not one for spas but spending the day at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa is one of the best days I have had in a long time. The downside is that the spa is very busy and if you don’t have a massage reservation or a spa package through the hotel then plan to arrive at 8:00am so you can get in line to get in when it opens at 9:00am. If you arrive at 9:00am or later then expect a 4-6 hour wait. That said, it is not a busy place, they do a wonderful job managing capacity. The pools, saunas and steam rooms are incredible. The Two Tree Bistro is awesome and the service is top tier. We spent 5 hours there today but you could do 6+ easily enough. Don’t do less than 3, if you’re pushed for time then don’t waste your money. Get the full experience, it’s worth it.
Really enjoyed a nice, relaxing day at the spa. The saunas and pools are great, the bistro was nice and let us customize our charcuterie board. Had a great massage as well! Pro tip: if you get massage benefits from work, book a massage and get free access to the spa! ;)
They restrict the amount of people in the spa at one time so it's never too busy. Very peaceful, time flies as you rotate between stations.
Spa was really nice, unfortunate that the sauna and steam rooms are closed because of covid, but even without them the experiance was great and the bistro was great. I gove 4 stars because I came close to hiting my foot on broken tile, I went to the front desk to let them know about the tile but when I came back a couple hours later there was no sinage or even tape to cover it
The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the scenery. With such great scenery you would expect more relaxation area's with heat. The saunas look like they were picked from a Walmart catalog.
This place was honestly amazing! The hotel was perfect, the food was delicious, and the staff were beyond respectful. I would go here again in a heartbeat. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the children. I completely respect families coming to the resort, but there should be family friendly or children friendly floors designated for such groups. The point is to go and relax and we had children running and screaming next door the entire time. Its hard to nap, relax, or try to have an intimate moment with children knocking on your door and screaming less than 10 feet away. Other than that, I have zero complaints and I've already recommended this place to some friends.
The temp pools, saunas, massages and bistro are all amazing. Now that I've done both massage then spa and spa then massage, I'd recommend massage then spa ???? Both charcuterie boards and the banana bread at the bistro are amazing but you do have to ask for specialty coffees since lattes are not on the drink menu.
Great experience with the massage, pools and saunas. Would recommend.
Pricey but so so worth it. I already can't wait to go back!
They think of EVERYTHING. Hair elastics, water, towels everywhere, pools were clean and paths were clear. Food at the bistro was absolutely to die for. Will be back in the future. Very relaxing space and vibe. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Amazing!! Had a couples massage and spent 3 hours at the spa for hydrotherapy
Cindy gave me a one hour therapeutic massage today. She was very pleasant and made my experience perfect. Great job!
Wonderful place with lots of hiking! The Nordic spa is amazing. Shannon is wonderful! Got a 60 minute massage that was very peaceful
Embarrassing and shameful experience. We got cancelled on our way to the spa 1 hour before our appointment, as we made our way out there for our Valentine’s Day. These are massages we booked well in advance. Learned that their cancellation policy is 24 hours before you are fully charged, but we only got one hour notice. Only got a voucher for food to make up for the poor experience, without consideration for time it took to get to the spa and child care services on the date. Poor service. Poor experience. Would not recommend.
I had a friend flying into Calgary and her flight was delayed I tried calling 10 times to let them know we would possibly be late and there was no answer. FINALLY someone answered and he was extremely rude on the phone I told him don't worry about it we will likely make it out for our time and if not don't worry about it we will pay anyways. Our massage was for 6pm- I called them at 5:50pm to let them know we were almost there and again no answer. We ended up having to rush in change when we arrived at the counter I was explaining to the guy I was the one that called earlier and he immediately cut me off and said "I already heard the story 10 times rolls his eyes and tells us to rush in" we had no idea where we were going at this point and ended up being in the change rooms instead of the massage part of the spa. Finally 6:20 our massages started. Just when you think the nightmare was over we were driving down the highway and a lady from the spa calls to tell us we didn't pay. They had my cc from the booking and failed to tell me they didn't take AMEX. How did they secure my booking with an AMEX if they dont take it? I have a business credit card and since we were already 45 min away from the hotel my friend that I took there for her birthday had to call in and pay for the massage on her VISA. The total was not mentioned online when I did the booking but total came to $425 what a RIP OFF for the type of massage I received- it was terrible. Thank god my friend ended up getting the better massage of the two of us or else this 1 star that I am giving would have been 0. Facility is great...service was TERRIBLE. When we finished our massages before we went into the pool we wanted to have a bite. We went to the reception at the spa to ask where the restaurant that was behind the counter went and they said it was on the pool deck and open. We changed into our swim suits and went out to find out it was closed... We had to get out, change and walk over the main lobby to eat at the restaurant and then head back to the pool after.
What an experience, the pools were beautiful and the space had a cozy feel. The receptionists were lovely upon arrival, even though it was getting busy, they took the time with each guest to make sure they understood how the spa worked, and where everything was. The locker rooms were really clean, and well kept. The reason for the 4 stars overall would have to have been our time and money spent at the Bistro. If we could we would give the bistro a two out of five. Unfortunately the food was very expensive and had no favour. When we went to go for lunch we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait, which was totally fine given the fact we got a little buzzer that could be taken back into the spa area while we waited for our table. Once the buzzer went off we went into the bistro right away and were seated. We waited about 10 minutes before we saw our server, as they were seating about 5 new tables all at once, she seemed very busy. She was lovely but since we had lots of time with the menu we ordered our drinks and food right away. Drinks took a long time before coming to the table, but the food followed right behind. My partner and I had ordered the same thing given it sounded so good on the menu. The Chicken panini, it was flavourless, if we hadn't added loads of salt and pepper ourselves there was no taste to the dish whatsoever. We were both so hungry so we ate them anyhow, given going through the spa sure worked up our appetite. Its unfortunate since the bill was about $80, for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks, its not worth the money. We had stayed the night and had the chance to experience some of the other restaurants on the property and wish we would have gone to one of those. The 2 stars is for our waitress as she was very sweet and welcoming, but everything else about the meal itself lacked. The spa was a great time, for how many people were there you always had personal space given the amount of different things to do, and that you have to keep moving around to experience it. I would return the the spa, however I don't know if I would take the chance on the bistro again.
Unfortunate to see the prices sky rocket. Will not be supporting this business.
WORST EXPERIENCE. AVOID! Second week in a row we drove from Calgary, showed up an hour before opening, waited in line for 1 1/2 hours to only find out from other people in line the 5-7 hour waitlist has started. Staff provide NO UPDATES on how close to capacity they are while you wait. They spend 15 minutes PER 1-2 PEOPLE selling packages and explaining the rules - why not ring everyone through and do one speech to a larger group? People are outside in line waiting, freezing, to then find out you will be waitlisted once you get near the front. PLEASE FIX THIS. This is not how a spa that's supposed to be relaxing should operate. CHANGE YOUR SYSTEM. There is no way to book online for a time slot or anything, this is a very archaic way of going about things.
Clean, gorgeous, relaxing. Can't wait to go back!
Overall the spa was good but I am giving it 2 stars to get attention for this review on 2 issues I think potential visitors should be aware of: #1: no idea what it was, but something completely bleached the new bathing suit I had bought for the occasion. The colors are completely faded after one use. Similarly, my sister's blue bathing suit is now white. I understand if whatever is in the pools can't be avoided due to proper sanitation processes, so I would just recommend bringing an older suit for this experience so you don't ruin a good one. #2: the hot pools are by far NOT hot enough. Honestly this was very disappointing and I might have reconsidered visiting had I known they would not really be that warm. It really took away from the experience. #3: I was not super impressed by the food at the bistro. The atmosphere and drinks were nice but the food didn't seem like good value for the VERY high prices they charged. #4: I really loved the saunas and cold plunge pool. Honestly it was an overall good experience, but hotter hot pools would have made it a perfect experience. Unless I knew they would make them hotter, I would not be returning, even though it's a cool spot
Great place! Awesome staff who were very helpful and friendly even with a busy lineup but they were professional and kept things moving in an orderly fashion, fantastic environment that was welcoming and super comfortable, and the bistro food was delicious and drinks even better! Definitely recommend for a wonderful and relaxing getaway with friends or with someone special.
This spa was great. One trick to get into the baths/pools is by booking a massage. They limit entry into this area to ensure its not overly busy, so you want to book well in advance. There are about 4 hot pools that vary in heat, about 3 warm pools, 2 or 3 smaller saunas, 2 larger saunas, one cold plunge, a eucalyptus steam room with another steam room under renovation and a exfoliation room where you rub salts on yourself and rinse off. The cold plunge is about 5 degrees, which seems a bit daunting, but is great after the sauna. My favorite was the steam room with a bucket mounted in the middle of the room which you can go under and pull a rope to dump cold water over yourself. The bistro is super chill and you can go in wearing your house coat. The food was great. My gf took me here as an early Christmas present and we had a lot of fun. We already want to go back.
Very nice, make sure you go when it's cold outside!
The pools, saunas and bistro are fantastic. My only gripe is the showers in the womens changing room. 3 are not enough and they don't work properly. In dire need of a makeover. Some changing rooms would be nice as well. I've been twice and would definitely go back again.
Great spa experience. Lots of areas to explore and try. I liked that they limit the number of occupants so it's never crowded. The downside is having to wait a long time to get in. It would be great to sign up or reserve ahead of time online. Fortunately, the suggested 4-6 hr wait was only 3 hrs. Only critique was the limited number of shower stalls.
Super clean, friendly staff. The ambiance is super relaxing. The food at Two Tree was 10/10 so fresh and delicious!
Took my mom whose from out of town. It was her early Christmas present. The weather was perfect. The spa even better. My mom, who suffers from arthritis in her neck and knees, said she hasn't felt so good. The water and saunas warmed her to the bone. The bistro food was also unique, European inspired fare and filled us up. If I had any comment, order the charcuterie and the cheese board. You can't go wrong. Will take her back when she visits again. Oh and we 'stole' two hot, piping cups of cider from the hotel lobby. That alone, is worth the trip to K Country.
Love it. The place speaks for itself.
The wait was excruciatingly long. 6.5 hours. it's not worth it to go unless you book a massage advance or else you'll be sitting in the waiting room ALL DAY thank God we got in to enjoy the last two hours of the spas operating hours after waiting as long as we did. Was it worth the wait? Not at all. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
pretty great. good place to relax! cold water pool pretty cold. bistro food was also suitably tasty.
Beautiful resort. A gem hidden in the woods and mountains of Kananaskis. Exquisite service, great facility. We booked a family suite which was very comfortable and roomy and we has access to the pool and hot tub.. we had a splendid time and the kids didn't wanna leave! In house Italian restaurant is off the hook!
We spent 4+ hours in this majestic site. It was one of the most relaxing and welcoming times I've ever spent in the mountains. The staff and other clients were so helpful and kind it left us feeling amazing.
Don't bother to go right now. Wait for winter! Largest pool us closed for renovation at the moment. They also give you a 6 hour window, as opposed to the whole day, where you ca. Come and go as you please. Also, some of the pools don't have surface skimming filters, so the pool is basically bug soup. Kinda gross. Winter takes care of that issue. I still think 130 dollars with tax is pretty steep. They should offer a discount when some pools are closed.
Booked a visit a month in advance, the staff didn't warn me the Spa had to be booked well in advance. When I called to cancel, and mentioned the circumstance for my cancellation they offered nothing to help us keep our reservation. My past experience with Rocky Mountain Resorts or other Hotels/Lodges if you tell them why you are cancelling they do their best to fight for your business and keep the reservation. Just in General the lack of consideration by the Nordic Rep was rather surprising this economic downturn.
I visited the Kananaskis Spa with my sister and we really enjoyed our time around the pools. Some big highlights were the exfoliation steam room, and the two essential oil steam rooms. Unfortunately my massage experience was unpleasant and was reflected in my original review. My review was responded to immediately and I was contacted by the Nordic Spa director. She was very understanding of the situation, responding in a very professional and personable way. While my original experience could not be changed, she offered a solution to hopefully allow for a new positive experience at their facility. I was very impressed with the guest services and how my situation was handled. Thank you. I look forward to returning to the Nordic Spa again.
KNS has the location, setup, and structure down pat. I had a very good time and would come again on special occasions. It is great, but not supreme. For the cost of $85 plus tax, I am expecting perfection but did not receive it. The buildings and pools are amazing, but I fear the small details are being overlooked. For example, I would suggest having branded shampoo/bodywash in the showers, not the bright green generic soap. There was no toilet paper or hand towels in the bistro bathroom. I would revisit the mixer taps in the exfoliation room; We could not get hot water out of any of the 4 shower heads. Overflowing garbage of the water cups. I really do like this place, but for the cost it needs to be perfect. Only small changes are needed, but they need to be done. I look forward to the next visit.
Nice enough spa, quite small open air hot tubs - pretty expensive not great bang for your buck.
Absolutely loved this place, the pools are wonderful, there are multiple saunas, steam rooms and firepits. Beautiful area, nice accessories to use during the visit included in the price water available in multiple areas. Very clean, a lot of room in the pools and sauna, never felt unsafe. The only negative thing I'd say is that the hot pools were not really that hot, they were only warm.
Had a massage today with Shannon and it was really good, felt like I had a new stress free body afterwards. The staff here are friendly and treat you with great customer service, and they provide everything - slippers, bathrobe, towel, shampoo, hair curler. The hydrotherapy actually really helped me feel relaxed, even though it seems weird to jump into a cold pool. The only con is the bistro doesn't have a lot of food and especially drink choices, and its a bit pricey. Overall great experience!
This is a beautiful vacation spot. The spa. The convenience of restaurants and coffee spot all in one place. Loved our stay. Will come again.
Great to spend a relaxing day
Disappointed we didn't even get in, at check in it said 5-7hr wait arrived at 930 am.. although it said no wait list! We ended up getting on waitlist and it was 5 hours later we got call and cancelled.. Need better information on website.
Booked a couples massage in the evening and went early to get access to the spa. Given what we read about the wait time to access the spa, I think this is a good way to go, however the reason for the 2-star rating was the massages we received. They were not anywhere close to what you would expect for the price. The spa itself was great once we figured out where to go. A bit more of an orientation from staff would have been helpful once you walk into the spa - the map was a bit confusing. Even though it was a Saturday, I think we were lucky to be there on a day when the spa wasn’t too busy - there was always a near empty pool somewhere. We loved the hot-warm-cold cycle - totally invigorating! The saunas and steam rooms were amazing. The change rooms were cramped for the number of people in them when we first got there and there was a line up for the 4 shower stalls. When we left around 9pm, it had cleared out so getting showered and changed at the end was totally fine. The bistro is cute and it’s nice how it’s been set up so it’s never overcrowded and you can cozy up on the couch under blankets. The food was also good but a bit pricey (I think to be expected at a resort like this). Spa guest tip - they give you these cozy robes, fleece on the inside, but if they get wet, they are tough to take on and off and you get cold. Take a towel with you and towel off between pools/steams before putting on the robe - makes for super cozy experience, especially if you’re prone to getting cold like I am.
Had a great experience at the Nordic spa. The layout was simple, clean and relaxing. It was busy in the morning but still manageable with the amount of options (warm, hot, cold and rest areas). The banyan sauna was AMAZING along with the eucalyptus steam room and exfoliating shower. These were the clear highlights for me during my stay. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars was the lack of privacy with some areas directly facing balconies of hotel rooms.
Was great. There were a few squealing young women so I think some noise etiquette would be an improvement. Other than that it was very enjoyable.
Exceeded our expectations. A great experience. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We will absolutely do it again.
We really enjoyed our visit at the spa. Staff was courteous and readily available. Everything was clean inside and out. Pools were nice and not overcrowded. The hot pool could be a bit hotter. There are other enjoyments if you do get waitlisted. The menu at the bistro is expensive for small portions, there is very limited selection and alot of the options we had no idea what they even were.
Loved the experience of the outdoor spa
Excellent facility and a great spa
Quite beautiful
Nice place.
My Mom and I spend an evening there and it was perfect. We had a massage, dinner at the bistro and then to the pools and saunas. A great experience.
Very relaxing. We went a chilly day and was perfect. A bit expensive but we enjoyed it.
The hype is real. Went in -30 and was so happy to be there
We just stopped In for a walk and see what the ace was like. The grounds are beautiful. Nice walking path, places to picnic and enjoy scenery, firepits, open skating rink. Appears to have alot of things to keep you busy during your stay. Small gift shop. Lovely
So far so good.
Had a wonderful day at the pools and sauna. The absolute best part was the massage by Young Chan (Jenny) Lee. An absolute pro. Thanks!
First complaints are that the hot pools are only allowed to have 9 people in them. And there's only one that's relatively hot. This would have been okay except for the fact that they are constantly barking at people that they will close the pool if it's over 9, and being a crowded place with only one hot pool it was often this happened. Second complaint is that you should probably not expect a quiet experience most of the time. People don't seem to stop talking in any of the saunas or steam rooms which I'm okay with but it's not exactly relaxing. Third complaint is that the cedar room restaurant was so cold that everyone in there was wearing jackets. Sat directly next to the heaters which were cold. We asked staff and they said it takes time to heat up the restaurant which is a bizarre comment especially at 830 pm at night. Heaters never came on and we left early because of it. Food was good though! Staff are really nice about telling you they won't do anything about it at least.
The spa was lovely and clean. The robes were comfortable and the pools and saunas were great. The change rooms were well appointed and the staff was helpful. The only negative comment is that it was very noisy- there are no quiet areas and the noise took away from the serenity of the experience.
The Nordic Spa, which the hotel owns and runs is nothing special. The hot pools were not that hot, the map of the area is posted upside down and opposite to the actual layout. The shower stalls in the change rooms are partitions used for people who take dumps. I've been to many spas with shower areas and a simple glass door would suffice, but using the same materials for toilets is both offensive, cheap and diminishes the experience. The worst part of the spa was that no one is allowed to reserve. Everyone is drop in, first come first serve. For a place that should promote stress relief, it accomplishes the reverse. It provides ample stress when you arrive and see the sign..."5-7 hours wait time" Are you kidding me? I constantly witnessed other people complaining to the spa front desk about their business practice and I too agree with each and every one of them. That said we did get in the next day to try the spa. Several saunas were not functioning when we were there and the left over construction items leave an unfinished taste and further cheapen the experience. They have wood framework leaning against the back fence line for example.
It is nice but I found it a bit pricey. Food portion was not enough. They have platters only and I think that was small that we ended up having 2 platters. Food tasted great and their facility is great too. But I don't know if we will go back soon. Eating area was not that comfortable to eat...it was ok.
I noticed no one has really left a review regarding the unprecedented wait times for reservation inquiries. For anyone looking to book (a massage) that's more than two weeks out from the date of inquiry, expect to wait a while for a response. We sent our request off on August 10th and didn't receive a response until August 27th. So almost three full business weeks. Hopefully it is less for others now that it looks like you can book spa pool access online instead of everyone having to email for pool and massage requests.
Really relaxing. The pools were great, the change rooms were clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Two Tree bistro was a good break between therapy sessions. Some of the best robes I've ever put on.
Great food and wine.
Third time here, still I enjoy the environment and the pools. We come here every year in april and this is the highlight for us only thing now that I do warn is that it does get busy quickly where wait lines can happen. We go in the morning to try and beat the rush but to me it doesn't take away from the experience just means better planning.
Was amazing, relaxing and just what we needed to decompress! We could have spent all day there
Beautiful spa just an hour outside of Calgary. So many pools and different dry/humid saunas with a variety of smells (ie eucalyptus room, peppermint scrub room) to stimulate your senses. You can easily spend a few hours just relaxing and staring off into the mountain backdrop outside. Already been back twice and looking forward to more!
It’s a really cool place to spend a day, we got there at 8am and were first in line for the 9am opening. People who arrived at 10 said they got right in. Around 1pm they were quoting 1-3 hour waits which wouldn’t be ideal if you were coming in just to do that. The outdoor facility is nice, didn’t feel too busy until later. Hammocks were kinda weird and snow covered. I think they are hard to get into and zipped up. The pools are great but the hot (# 1) pools could be hotter. The steam rooms were in and out of service. Saunas are great. It’s hard to tell whose shoes are whose so it might be good to differentiate and a person in our group ended up with some that were two sizes too small because someone took hers. There are numbers on the robes to figure out which is which but there are still tens of robes all hung in the same place which can be tricky. My biggest issue is the dressing room, it’s so busy and 3 showers and no changing stalls other than the toilet stalls or the wide open. Considering how busy it gets, I think this needs to be amped up. There was a line for showers and toilets most of the time. It’s great but I honestly think for the price they need to amp up a few things for the experience.
Highly recommended if you want to experience a relaxing vibe
It was our second time at the Nordic spa and we will definitely be back! The one pool was closed and we didn't know until we got there bit we still had a great experience
We came here last holy week but was not able to experience the place because we have an 11 year old with us. We did not know that this was an adult only facility.
A Beautifully Relaxing Experience. Tip: The entire experience involves moving between pools and saunas outside. If you burn easily bring a hat you don't mind getting a bit wet, I used a running hat. They also have sunscreen available at the entrance from and in the locker rooms. If you put it on after your "heat cycle", where you have sweated a lot, then you have less chance of burning. Bring a book for the relax phase, no cell phones are allowed, so music or pod casts are off the table, but it makes it a wonderful technology "detox". Food is not as readily available as it once was. They have closed their first come, first serve cafe and moved to a seated restaurant with an expanded meal. Either plan for lunch early (like 11 am) or later (like 3 pm), as there is always a waitlist. They do have 10 pagers for the restaurant, but they go through them quickly on a weekend. The food however is very nice.
I thoroughly enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa! I like how they reduced capacity so the spa feels very relaxing. We spent 6 hours and left quite rejuvenated. I enjoyed my meal at Two Trees Bistro (love how I don't need to leave the spa to go eat). I deducted one star because the locker room layout could be better (it feels very cramped with not much space to move between people - not a very luxurious feeling).
I gave this place a 5 because I had the time of my life. The staff was really pleasant from the reception ladies to the cleaners everyone was so nice and helpful. I love this place. My fiance ended up leaving his sunglasses there, when I called back the next day they had them for us. Thank you to the Honest staff Only thing I would fix is the food. The food wasnt that good. Mind you we only the sandwiches. (they weren't too good.)
Relaxing spa with beautiful views! Enjoyed a few hours at the spa however when we went to the attendants desk the employee was not very friendly. Despite it being a social spa there were also a few guests who were bothersome while we were there however the actual pools and steam rooms and saunas we're amazing. Clean spa and the exfoliation room was amazing way to end the day!
Trying to get someone takes hours on the phone listening to a message how important your call is. Try somewhere else that is more customer focused.
It was a great mini get away for my hubby & I especially recovering from the loss of our son a month ago. The hydrotherapy was awesome one of a kind, the massage was fantastic & the hotel stay was really nice. The Forte restaurant was also awesome.
A little piece of heaven close to the city. While I do think it is priced slightly too high, especially considering the recent price increase, it is a beautiful facility. Even through Covid you can feel confident in the measures they are taking to keep everyone safe. Highly recommend!
This place is great overall. Staff in general are friendly and the facilities are great. I have two minor issues 1) our check in person didn’t really explain much to us, which is fine because I read about what to do before and we asked some clarifying questions, but I feel like everyone should get the standard messaging and rules. I also didn’t have the scrub in my locker when I arrived. 2) other guests are annoying and staff don’t do a good job monitoring. One couple was being very very handsy and inappropriate in the pool. Another person had their cell phone taking pictures in the pool and barely tried to hide it when a staff member was outside. I feel like if staff give standard messaging and create no tolerance policies around both these things, that would’ve made things better. In short, have some decency people. It’s 18+ but that doesn’t mean you should be getting sexual in the pools. edit: I appreciate the response from the spa but wish it wasn't so dismissive of these issues - I suggest taking comments from your guests as a way to improve your services rather than getting defensive.
Not really worth the hype. Im not going to get into details. I will visit again, i may of had just a bad experience. The massage was amazing though
Best place ever could feel the happiness and perfect vibe
The good: This spa is lovely. The multiple pools and steam rooms are spectacular as is the view. The smell of the campfires burning really brings in a nostalgic feel that is very relaxing. The complimentary salt scrub was very invorgating and it makes me want to do a Reno in my own home. Lol. The bad: The food here is just...awful. And I mean, awful. I was taken here as a birthday outing so I didn’t want to complain in person but I actually felt insulted leaving the Two Trees Bistro. We ordered the charcuterie platter and it says on the menu “house pickled veg and grilled artichoke”. We were served two mini gherkin pickles from a jar and the artichoke was out of a can. This cost $28. I’m ok with laying a premium price for food in such a beautiful place but this wasn’t at all premium and it was a flat out LIE. I plan on emailing the manager and telling them that this not only a terrible value but it’s flat out deception. Please, visit this spa but do NOT eat at the two trees bistro. It will leave a taste in your mouth worse than the canned pickles they charged us $28 for.
beautiful experience
One hour on hold during the week to be told they're fully booked. I'll go elsewhere and not waste my time here in the future.
For a spa that is suppose to create a relaxing experience it was anything but. We showed up before it even opened and waited in line for 1 and a half hours. We almost got to the front of the line but we found out people were beginning to be waitlisted. Not because an employee told us but because we listened in on a conversation they had with the next guests up. At no point during the wait did employees bother figuring out what capacity was beforehand. The worst experience possible. Don't ever bother going on the weekend as the staff won't bother giving any updates about capacity. Which makes no sense since they would know what their capacity is. We will not go back as this has killed our enjoyable experiences we once had here.
I drove here from Edmonton to meet up with a group of friends for a stagette and was incredibly disappointed to find out that when we arrived, there was a wait of 4-6 hours with no actual guarantee of getting in at all. We ended up driving to our condo in Canmore as there wasn't anything to do while waiting around. It was a long drive to be turned away. I hope they are able to come up with a booking system (at least for large groups) as I know it is a great place to experience and I want them to continue to see success. Until they have a booking system in place, I would not recommend going here on a weekend unless you have a spa service booked which would include your entry.
Beware, the staff are neither friendly nor helpful. Tried to come here for our anniversary over the weekend and called ahead to get an idea of when we would need to be there in order to get in as we had a full weekend of plans. We were told 9 am and we would have no issues. When we got there at 9 there was a line up that took 40 min of standing outside in the cold to get to the front. Once there, we were put on the wait list and told 1 to 3 hrs. The staff told us that this was typical for Saturday and that the hotel has 3 large corporate groups so they were busy. Where was that communication earlier in the week when we called? They also said they were fully booked on massages and thus has to hold spaces. Again, where was that communication. "Yes 9 might usually work but we are super busy this weekend, I'd try for 8:30 to be sure". The staff was dismissive and gave poor information. A 1 to 3 hr wait was not even a close guess. People come and stay a couple hrs then are allowed to sit inside and eat or drink from the Cafe while considered in the spa. When we came back 3 hrs later to see where they were at in clearing the line up, no one had been allowed in from the list. And there were 35+ people in spa robes in the Cafe eating before clearly heading back out to the spa. The weird part was the staff had told us by phone 30 min earlier that they had just called the first people off the list. more bad information. Fast forward to 2:20, 2 he's after we hit our limit of wait time given the window we had alloted to celebrate and use the spa, and ghe finally were calling with openings. Nearly 5.5 hrs from our arrival time and 5 hrs after putting our name down. Not one apology for the inconvenience or any kind word. Just people checking off a list. Pretty unreal behavior from staff at a "high end" spa that costs $75 to use.
Overrated. Average services and extremely expensive. Not the best experience. Seemed a bit unorganized. Won’t go back. Gave them 3 stars for the robes. They are awesome.
Great service and plenty of options, friendly and fast staff. Thank you
Despite of the situation we are in, they have placed proper precautionary measures in this place. If you are planning to come and book for a massage (especially Couples Massage), make sure you book it online waaaay ahead of time. We were just lucky to book my husband and myself for a Aromatherapy and deep tissue massage the morning of the day of our hydrotherapy session online. Young Chan Lee was my masseuse and her massage pressure is really good. I literally enjoyed my 60 minutes massage and felt my upper and lower back, shoulders, and neck pain was relieved. You can tell she knows where the muscle tension are. I never felt sore the day after and to me, that is what I wanted. Thank you for service and keep up the great work. As for the hydrotherapy, HOT - WARM - COLD- REPEAT. Yes! That is what we did. We pretty much did everything during our whole stay. If you want to hit the spa with lesser people, morning seems to be the great time to schedule your hydrotherapy. The best part for me are the steam rooms (eucalyptus and alchemy) and the exfoliation! It felt like my toxins has been released throughout our stay. Not only is it rejuvenating, you will definitely feel relaxed as well. I also loved their body wash. It smelled really great. I pretty much used the whole amenities they have. Washroom are always clean and the staff are really doing a great job maintaining the whole place. Even complete with dryer, hair straightener, and sanitized combs and brushes if you forget to bring one for you to use. Worth the price you pay for the relaxation you are looking for.
Visited in early December of 2021. Very relaxing and enjoyable. We had massages and ate lunch as well. The food was quite pricey (as to be expected) but tasted decent.
honestly I prefer my ymca steam room not impressed with the facilities and how overpriced everything is, the steam room doesnt even get hot
Great location. It was still under construction while we visited but a great stop. Different plunge pools and my wife really loved the different saunas...Also the massage therapists were great. Great day away for a couple!
I attended the spa with some girlfriends on the afternoon of July 29. I can't say how disappointed I was with the quality and upkeep of this place. We arrived shortly after 3pm. The pools were FILLED with dead flies to the point it that it was just disgusting. Not one employee had come around to check the pools. It was also incredibly smokey in the air this day, and there seemed to be plenty of staff to constantly stoke the unnecessary fire they kept going to make the air that much more smokey. I found this was a little distasteful with all the forest fires going on. Regardless the amount of dead flies in the pool was gross and I would not recommend this place to anyone, its not a hard job to run a net and clean these out, had there been one laying around I would have done it myself instead of splashing them all over the pavement. I've been to the Scandinov spa in Whistler which is very similar to this place and 1000% cleaner. I also have to say that for $125 a day, the robes are cheap and ugly. They're made of fleece which doesn't absorb water at all and really make no sense in this setting.
The atmosphere was beautiful and the pools and saunas clean but the place for having been only open less than a year was quiet run down. The infrared sauna was down, as was one of the herbal saunas and the one that was open had exposed piping and wall, clearly under construction. No discount was offered for part of the facility being out of commission. We ate and all was tasty but wildly over priced. I was also astounded at the small number of showers....3? For how many people they are pumping through, plus needing a shower both before and after. Nice to get a day of soaking in the mountains but for the price of 3 people, you could get an air bnb with a hot tub and have a more private similar experience.
Beautiful nordic spa! It's really well organized, and they put a lot of effort and love into it. I'm used to those spa promoting a quiet atmosphere, but this one is different. It really wasn't quiet and relaxing. They should install some Silence signs and staff should make sure people respect them. Overall we had a good experience.
I really want to love Nordic Spa. I've been to similar spas in other locations, and they've always been phenomenal, but Kananaskis Nordic Spa just doesn't live up to other facilities with similar concepts. For starters, construction isn't even done and only half the features were open, yet admission was still full price. Maybe it'll be worth it when construction is done, but I don't think 2 pools and 3 saunas is worth $70. Secondly, there didn't really seem to be anywhere for the "relax" portion of the Nordic spa ritual. Only some outdoor, uncomfortable plastic muskoka chairs. There are technically hammocks and pods, but only about 3 of each, not nearly enough for the size of the (arguably small) facility. Furthermore there were no INDOOR places to relax. I was here in summer and didn't want to be in the sun, but I can imagine in winter I will likewise not want to be out in the cold. Finally, the quiet policy is not enforced in any way shape or form. Everywhere I went people were having loud, boisterous, non-stop conversations. In the pools, in the saunas, in the lockerooms. And honestly, this is what annoyed me most about my visit. The other stuff I can chalk up to the facility not yet being complete, but there's absolutely no reason why I should have to listen to someone recount the full story of why they're no longer friends with so-and-so, as I'm trying to relax. This isn't a hotel pool, please try to educate patrons on what is and is not appropriate spa behavior.
Best way to spend a chilly cloudy day.
This place is amazing!
Amazing views, the whole experience of hydrotherapy pools was awesome
Giving a 4 because I have actually been to spas in the Nordic counties and I think they did a good job at this spa overall. My one complaint is the price, I have been to some of the best spas on earth and $100 for 5 hours is steep. The hot tub is also not nearly hot enough. The steam rooms and saunans are incredible though! If the price was more reasonable I would drive out to this spa more often!
Pools are fun. Food not so good depending how adventurous you are.
Such a relaxing experience, especially with the limited number of people allowed in due to the pandemic. The change rooms were super clean as well. Would definitely visit again!
Great food Great service Great people
Amazing rejuvenating experience. We will return!!
Absolutely stunning facility enhanced by the mountain views. Incredible value for the services and you can spend the entire day. Enjoyed as a sister getaway. Thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to enjoy quiet conversation in some areas. A variety of options to please everyone. Every minor detail of comfort has been thought of and is available without asking. Misplace your towel? Wet Robe? No worries staff are eager to provide more. Enjoyed a delicious lunch in the lounge. Shared a cheese tray and fruit platter. More than enough for 2. Wished I lived in Alberta so I could experience it often. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
Giant open pit construction in the middle of the spa for a tub thats been broken for a year. No change in price to compensate for features being closed. Rest of the features were nice. Went from pints in the bistro to half pints and prices stayed the same for some reason. Will probably go again, as of right now not worth the $125 entrance fee.
I brought my family for my birthday weekend 2 rooms service sub par the restaurant just horrible, tried the the other restaurant for breakfast horrible would not recommend
Love this place! Spent the day there with my wife and felt like royalty. Highly recommended.
I visited the spa with a friend after the holidays, on a weekday. We enjoyed the facilities generally, and our massages, but left feeling disappointed by a few things. First, my friend did not get a female masseuse as requested at the time of booking and confirmed with us prior to our arrival. It didn’t stop her from enjoying her massage, but it was an unwelcome surprise on the day of and didn’t help her feeling comfortable. Second, we stopped at the bistro to share a charcuterie board and get a coffee. The bistro was full, and luckily we managed to get seats at the bar. Our charcuterie board took well over 45 minutes to come out - which was frustrating, as there’s nothing on it that actually needs to be cooked. I was informed when ordering my cappuccino that espresso drinks would take longer. Not exactly the level of service we expected. The food was in a very small portion, and for the price, we would absolutely not go back here. It was clear the restaurant was understaffed and too small capacity wise, and we felt uncomfortable taking our time when there were over a dozen people standing waiting for a seat. They should encourage a maximum seating time during peak hours - we witnessed a group at the tables with couches there well over the time we were there for, and don’t believe they ordered anything. Third, the changing facilities are too crowded. As mentioned in other reviews, only 3 showers and a lack of changing rooms in such a crowded area is not pleasant. Partially my own fault, but the metal handle on the locker was at the perfect spot and gouged my harm. It’s a really sharp edge and can really hurt if you accidentally run into it because you’re trying to discreetly change in a packed locker room, as I was. Lastly, I dislike the model where reception asks how much you would like to tip at the counter, as opposed to inputting it yourself on the machine. Having worked in salons and spas myself, I know how that can influence guests to pay more, especially when surrounded by other guests waiting to get in or pay. If I was to return again, I really don’t know when I would go. We thought that going on a weekday after the holidays would be good enough, but it was packed busy. I definitely think that serious improvements need to be made for the customer service before I would consider making the day trip again.
I tried to go last year and was told it was a half hour to 2 hour wait. I waited two hours and they never called my phone. I wanted to go this year but have just discovered that it's almost totally inaccessible for people with mobility issues: both the cafe and the pools are only accessible by stairs. How is this possible in the 21st century? Who needs a spa more than a disabled person? Isn't that the history and purpose of spas? I will be boycotting. We have to do better than this!
It's was great. They have 3 hot pools and 1 cold. Great food and services. It's a great place to spend quality time with friends.
