You will see the opinions of people who are buying the products of Ellice Recycle Ltd (Scrap Yards) around Esquimalt area (Canada).
To this day the business has a rating of 3.5 out of 5 and the score has been calculated on 94 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite high, and it is based on a large number of scores, so we may say that the assessment is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their score when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to write scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Scrap Yards belongs to the category of Recycling center.
Very friendly and helpful workers both times I've gone. Never a bad experience.
My truck broke down when I was there...and all the staff were so kind and helpful! Thank you!!
Helpful staff. Smooth process but often busy.
I showed up on a miserable rainy day with various garbage & recyclables. I knew there was a charge but was very pleasantly surprised at the enthusiastic, accommodating service helping me discharge my load. It pays to call ahead, to be pleasantly informed if there are any fees. Note to Ellice: I can find no mention of fees for residential clients listed on your web-site :-(
Helpful staff. It's a lot more expensive than other places for large amounts of garbage but they are open on Sundays.
Quick, professional and always service with a smile.
The depot has a good layout and generally free of sharp debris close to parking area. I did find a fee of $25 to dispose of a toilet very expensive.
One of the best recycling depots in Victoria B.C. Some friends up there use it regularly and they swear by it, especially the recycling pick-up service.
Very nice people working there. It is a drive through type place where you weigh in and tell the staff what you have then drop you separated stuff in different bins, then weigh out. This goes the smoothest if you separate your stuff while you load up. Cardboard, hard plastics, house garbage, steel, glass, paper/books, organics like leaves, electronics. Note: there is an additional fee for bed mattresses, tvs, fridges. Easier to drop your TVs at the recycle it depots (bottle depot on Queens is best). The price at ellice is cheap for small loads (around $25-50) and location is really good, the downside is you have to drive around bin to bin, and that can take a while depending on how well you sorted first. Often there are lineups on the street. For business users they have an account you can sign up for but the paperwork is lengthy. They accept debit, cash, credit. Would be great if they had an express area for dumping your loads and letting the staff sort it (like H&L). And it would be a real bonus if they gave you some money for your metal items (like schnitzer steel). All 3 places can be found near to each other.
Haul a Day Junk Removal has been using Ellice Recycling since 1998. The service is nothing less than Excellent. Their Employees are knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. Without question Ian the Owner has taken great care in hiring the right people. Oh, and not to forget a shout out to Wendy at the Commercial yard! Thanks again!
Friendly staff, priced well.
Busy...must be almost spring.
EDIT It appears they were closed at noon because they were having a staff party which is fine however they forgot to put signs up on the front gate letting everybody know hence the confusion. They apologized for it and the service the following day was groovy. Woke up early Saturday morning and the wife and I spent time loading up the truck with yard waste, old wood, tanks, etc only to arrive at 2pm and it was CLOSED? Gates locked, no one on site, and the phone message saying they were busy on the other line LOL. No signs noting it was closed for a specific reason AND I called the day before and the man told me they are open tomorrow (being today, Saturday) from 830 to 5. While we were there 6 other groups of people showed up with tons of stuff loaded in their cars and trucks and we all sat baffled at them being closed.
Well run and organized but outrageous prices. $13 per propane tank and $21 per mattress piece, that's $42 for a matress plus a box spring plus the weight of your garbage. Be prepared to part with your cash.
Quick easy. Staff are knowledgeable and forward
Exceedingly kind, well mannered, and helpful!!
Polite and informed help. Quite clean and well organized. What would we do without them?
Austin and the other guys who work here are awesome. Super helpful and friendly. Its weird saying I enjoyed my time at the dump... but I did. Thanks guys! Keep up the hard work :)
Only go to Ellice recycle if you absolutely have no other options. H.L. Disposal is around the corner and is way easier, cheaper and user friendly. Or take the drive out to Hartland Landfill.
This used to be my goto place to get rid of construction waste/recyclables. I own and operate a residential construction company and spend about 1.5k per year for this component. However, my last and final visit ever was when the attendant asked me to separate foam packaging and pay $6/ bag to recycle this material. I am all about recycling but sometimes you need to compromise. I now go to H.L. Disposal just down the street and there you unload any type of load (with obvious exceptions such as hazmat) and they sort it for you. The staff down there are friendly and helpful and would recommend H.L. over Ellice all day long.
Our house was missed this morning, I was home and saw it get skipped. Dispatch was super kind and helpful when I called it in. They sent another truck… I watched the truck come back, slow down and drive away a second time. Very frustrating and confusing since the second time it was clearly intentional. Edit: despite your reply that it was in fact a confusion and the driver would be back it is now 5:30pm and the bins were never emptied. If your company says they are going to do something at least be prepared to follow though.
Had a van full of parquet flooring, carpet and oversized garbage. Called ahead of time to inquire about disposal and if any of the items required hazmat testing. Excellent service and no confusion when disposing garbage.
Great location central Victoria...can be a bit pricey...real shame they dont take hard plastic anymore!!!
Helpful and friendly staff
Okay place to take your recycling
Quick and friendly. Many different bins to organize your garbage appropriately
I've used this place several times and have always had a positive experience. The one way system is a bit painful when you don't know the layout but once you know where everything is, it's great. Friendly, helpful staff.
Go elsewhere
Friendly staff. Easy and convenient system.
Not bad.
My job calls for going to the dump once a week at least. I've seen dozens across BC and this one is my favorite. Good people work there and the drop off is super simple.
Prices are high. They charge for scrap metal and recyclables too.
Super helpful; went above and beyond.
Efficient, friendly, and open with less wait time than Saanich.
Well run facility! Great bunch of guys! Good job
Outrageous $40 min charge to drop off drywall. I had less than 1 1/2 sheets of offcuts, to them charging me twice the cost of buying it was reasonable. I can understand a small tipping fee but they are just taking advantage of people. Won't go back.
Very expensive.
Called with a simple question on a Sunday multiple times and they couldn't be bothered to answer .
total rip off
Grate staff and clean a bit more then Heartland but if you're here in town then it works out to about the same
Reasonable workers, didn’t know they had a charge for all. I only brought some wood and got lucky
The staff are awesome they do as much as possible to make it as Hassel free as possible and as speedy a process as feasible. Though do watch your weights as 200kg of oversize waste and one mattress will cost around 87.00$ and it's easy to go over that costing even more $.
Go to Schnitzer Steel up the road to get a good price on selling metal. Also, recycle electronics at the Bottle Depot or Best Buy.
The prices are unreal. You pay more for it then when the stuff was new. Better to find other places if you can.
They need to ensure the drivers they hire actually passed the licensing exam. Just had an Ellice truck try to pass me when I pulled over for an ambulance! Granted he was probably wanting to go faster but attempting to pass me in a narrow construction zone while an ambulance passed by with its lights and sirens activated was probably not the smartest move. This truck was traveling west on Esquimalt Road at about 11:20 am January 24th if you want to find out which dummy tried this.
Very expensive to drop anything off here and if your not aware they impose a minimum charge regardless of actual stuff so check before you get past the gate if you wanna drop double the fee vs going to Hartland or Alpine. Basically if everyone else is closed and you have to dump then this is the last place to go . Only perk is they are near downtown
It perfect. Quiet on Sunday evening ????
16$ for dropping cardboard. Now I can’t spend for Christmas lolll. I like the service but the fees are ridiculously expensive non sense.
I dropped off a small load at Ellice and found the facilities well staffed and the service friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Thanks
Most convenient facility in Vic. Always 5 star service. Would highly recommend.
Can anywhere be more expensive? $2.50 per florescent tube? $6.00 for a bag of Styrofoam which they then sell. I'm gonna open me a recycling depot! I disliked it due to prices.
Crazy expensive I frequently recycle electronics cardboard and plastics for work. Aa average load at alpine recycling is around 10 dollars. I took an average sized load here one time because I was in the area 42 bucks... staff wasn't over helpful or friendly either... I only use Alpine now.
Great place, right in town for recycling and garbage. People are always friendly! Look onto what you can recycle, you might be surprised!
What worst place ever !!! Cost me 71$ to drop off couches
Fast, efficient, they know their jobs and are helpful and friendly.
Best place in Victoria for this service. Well organized, and friendly staff. Yes, it's pricey, so when you do make a dump, make sure it's a full load and worth it. You are paying for convenience, rather than hauling it out to the middle of no where or an entirely different city. Honestly, it's worth it when you are doing multiple trips.
Total scam. We came there with a good intension not to throw away garbage in bins around the town because we are travelling in a car and they charged us for 30kg of garbage when it was only 3 plastic bottles, few papers, 1 tetrapack and one small light garbage bag. After our defense they even tried to make us the bad ones, saying their weights were just calibrated. One good thing is that they charged us "only" for 16 dollars in the end just because we got inside. We didn't know there was that kind of a fee just for entrance so we had to pay it but don't trust their weight!
Cheaper to drive to Florida and dump it there.
I am a small contractor and we were completing a reasonable sized demolition project not far from this facility so given the short distance we choose to dump here. They requested the address where it was coming from and not thinking about it I gave it to them. 2 weeks later my customer is telling me Ellice Recycle's sister company Ralmax is trying to snake my customer away telling them they can do demolition better and cheaper, etc. I will never use their facility ever again I have confirmed by someone who used to work at Ralmax that what I went thru was completely true. avoid these guys at all costs
I brought a load of material to them with proper tested documentation that said it was asbestos free. A kid at the gate pulls out some fancy gun that says it is asbestos and refuses to take it. I take it back to the consultant who reconfirms its asbestos free Waste of time dealing with these guys. Apparently a professional consultant knows nothing and the kid at the gate knows everything. AVOID THESE GUYS, they will never see my business again. I advise everyone in town to take their waste elsewhere To Ellice response: your MicroPhazir Asbestos Analyzer by ThermoFisher Scientic doesn't work and twice a highly respected consultant confirmed the materials doesn't contain asbestos. You conveniently ignore that fact in your response. You have lost my business here on out with you and your gate keepers attitude.
Baware, they will scam you. They just tried to tell me 4 bags of cardboard and plastic containers weigh's 350lbs and charged me and extra 15 dollars over the minimum. And then treated me like I was crazy for questioning them. It was around 50lbs total. Take your business elsewhere.
$196 to recycle a Desk, Bookcase and a Futon? Prices are outrageous. This same load based on weight would cost me $33 up Island. Won't use this place ever again. Lesson learned.
We've used this service for many years, convenient. Today the staff were friendly and told us which to bin to use.
Rates are ridiculous. Very slow moving through the two gates (3-4minutes each, yikes). Will stay with hartland from now on.
Was just there 20 minutes ago
The people who work here are very helpful, and everything is well organized and well marked.
I was surprised that my two bags of styrofoam cost $16 to recycle. The website does not indicate the cost.
They are wonderful! Well organized, extremely helpful and polite. Seriously, we are fortunate to have such a great place so central. I can't believe people gripe about the price. This is about managing serious garbage and recycle - I used them a lot over the years.
Staff are grest
Unaware that they charge for Styrofoam recycling, 15.75 for two bags.
Competitive prices and most helpful out of the places I've been to. Took everything but Asbestos and my radioactive industrial waste.
wanted to get rid of an old TV,charge was $10.A recycle fee is already paid on electronics.Even Alpine doesn't charge for electronic recycle.
The staff are very helpful and pleasant, they opened at 8:30 am on a Sunday no less . It costs a bit more than Hartland but it's a reasonable trade off for the convenience and location. I highly recommend this establishment.
