They have good stock. They have basic 44W steel andsome stainless steel rods, plates, blocs, sheets. Line-up can be long. Even small orders require an appointment. All that aside, it's a good steel shop.

No matter how much or how little you want to buy these guys are always friendly and helpful. I'm just a small time guy doing some welding at home but they're always happy to take time and help me out. I can't say that for a lot of the places I buy things from. I highly recommend going to these guys if you ever have any kind of metal needs, they're really fantastic.

I was a bit angry with my last visit to Acier Lachine. I was buying from there since 1996 and had a good experience in the past, but looks like today was the last day I went there. I was there Monday and was told that the employee that does special cuts will be back to work on Wednesday. I went to Lachine, took more measurements again and went to Acier Lachine. It was 11:59 me and another client that walked into the office. We were not even asked why we are there and just told us they are closed for lunch. So out of 4 people sitting in there no one could move their lunch time for 10 minutes to serve us? We both said we will not go back. So what, I will have to go there 3rd time to find out that they can not make the piece I need? It is in 30 minutes drive from my home or my work. I do not think that piece is worth of 3 hours of my time (compared to 10 minutes of the Acier Lachine employee time). Maybe I am selfish, but when I had my business, I did my best to accommodate the client, even if I was on lunch or vacation, the client is the key of the business survival. Maybe they are forced to take lunch exactly at 12:00, but somehow I do not believe that. I think they just didn't care. I will find another supplier and even if it is longer to drive, I will, if I get proper service. At the end, the best business is as bad as it's worst employee.

These is a good place for anything metal with a really friendly service. I'm just some random guy coming in and asking for little pieces of this and little pieces of that. Obviously they don't make any money off me with the quantity I'm buying and taking into account an employee needs to do custom cuts so it will fit in my corolla :P However they still help me each time and they don't make me feel bad doing so. Try it, they will most certainly have what you need. Highly recommended.

I had a great experience dealing with Acier Lachine. We needed to build a steel structure to support our back deck and Acier Lachine produced the steel components. They were professional, helpful, responsive and price very competitive. Special shout out to Sebastien - he is extremely knowledgeable and always ready to answer questions and come up with solutions. I've been buying steel from Acier Lachine for a few years now. The office staff is extremely helpful for picking up the right material and the guys in the shop and always quick to get what I need and cut my material. Even though I don't particularly spend a lot of money there, they always offer to cut my lengths down to fit in my car. I've looked elsewhere for steel and Acier Lachines prices are very competitive and I'm never charged for cutting. I'm just a hobby fabricator and these guys still take the time to help me just as much as people who spend a lot more money there. I always recommend these guys for steel.

Update: 4* instead of 1*. One week later I got an email with a promiss to send a compensation. Once I get it I will update my review. First review. Acier Lachine did not provide right sizes for my caps. I was frustrated with their error. I need a gap of 7.25", but they manufactured 7". I sent an email with picture complaining. However a rep called me trying to explain that this is "fine to have this. it's normal" WHAT???? It was a very simple order of four post caps. It took my contractor (two exper. guys) overall 2 h of fixing that issue on site. We need it right now, no time to go to the shop. Basically it costed me more to fix it than to order my caps. Conclusion: Check your sizes right there in the shop and request a fix if the sizes are not good.
