Horrible staff and shady business practice just look up the hall of shame report done by rob wolchek on this place if you want to know how they really operate. There’s a reason they changed their name from discount auto salvage to “ friendly auto salvage” . All the five star reviews are bs, there’s a reason why there’s five star reviews and one star. The one star reviews are legit, do some research on this place before you spend your hard earned money with these crooks.

If I could give this place a negative I would. I've ordered multiple parts and every single thing was either no good or damaged. Id order some parts they would say they have and would drive an hour to get just to find out they don't have it. so unprofessional. They should be closed down.

I bought an engine from them back in March. Since the weather just recently broke, I had the motor put in last week. Then 2 days later as I'm driving on the freeway with my 5 kids 100 miles away from home- BOOM! The engine goes out. I call up there to see what can be done and all the lady said was it was only a 1 month warranty and it's not her fault and they won't do anything. $500 for a P.O.S motor that they didn't check before selling it on top of the cost of me paying for labor now I'm out of almost $2000 and they wont do anything??? I would never recommend this place to anyone. Don't waste yoir time or money. This place is a Scheme.

I went there for a new car. Test drove it, seemed fine. Went from the lot to purchase a new battery for the car and it started to overheat. Not even ten miles later. Went back, they said that everything was fine and wouldn’t do anything about it. Some other customer looked at it and noticed a radiator fan wasn’t working. After arguing and pleading, they gave me a replacement fan but wouldn’t install it — they claimed the temperature gauge was wrong. Lo and behold, the car overheated on my drive home. I was told everything works fine except needs new brakes and tires. They knew what they were lying about and hide behind as-is laws. I would NOT recommend at all, and I wish I wasn’t so desperate as to go there. I will never go back! I’m now out $700 and have a car that I’m HOPING will last a few months after I put in another few hundred in repairs.

0 stars!! 99% of the time they give you the wrong parts and you only have 2 days to return it. The first time I called they said they had the part I went there they told me to come back the next day cause it was to hard to get to so I did they said I'm going to have to wait another day so I called and the 3rd day they said yes the part is off come get it so when I got there they said it wasn't off yet it took longer then a week for them after calling mutiple times a day to get it alot of my time and gas wasted. my 2nd time I bought a strut for $25 thinking it was the right one for my car I didn't have time to do it untill the next week after I got my old strut off and find out it was the wrong one and they refuse to trade or refund me my money they guy there doesn't know nothing about cars I'd rather go to a pick and pull where I do it myself that guys an idiot I hope they go out of buissness! all these people and tons more they ripped off ???? learn from others mistakes

Place is under new ownership, and also has a new name. I was a little hesitant to call considering my past bad experiences, but I was desperate. I had called 6 other scrap yards for a 1992 Mercury Cougar part. Not only did these guys have me text them a photo to match it, but they also found it for me! I'm quite satisfied.

Place is under new owners. I called asked if they had a window for my truck and they did. Walked in asked for it that said 10–15 min and it will be pulled. Not even 5 minutes later it was at the counter with all the bolts to put it in. Definitely going back because they are really under new owners.

It's sad when you purchase a engine from a business that reassures you 3 time before purchasing it. Thay everything is fine, get it to the mechanic he said it looks like it been in a wreck. He would have to rebuild it and it would cost less just to purchase another engine.They did absolutely nothing under their so called warranty. No exchange, no store credit, no refund, no anything just out of $600 plus the labor for the work the mechanic did.

Horrible. I came all the way from Detroit. Told them I needed a tire and rim. Called again when I was on my way n she assured me that it was okay. Got there and the tire wasn't pressed. N she told me I can buy them separately and press it later. Used to be a good junk yard. Last 3 times I used this place has been a run around. Only takes 2 to 4 minutes to press a tire. Absolutely absurd

AVOID AT ALL COST I gave these guys money to give me a 2002 Avalanche Transmission. They gave me the wrong transmission. Then I asked if they can give me the right one they said they won't have it until the end of the week. Then they said they have it and they just have to take the part off the car. 3 whole days go by and they still didn't take it off. Sounds fishy, right? Then the employees don't know the contact to the owner. They told me they can't give me a refund until the owner approved it. It's been two whole weeks. You still think that refund is coming? I'm getting my lawyers ready as we speak.

Worst place I ever been to. I walked in to possibly sell them a junk car. I would’ve taken anything. I just need it out of my driveway. Before I could open my mouth to speak and tell them what I had, the owner looked at me dead in my face and said rudely, “Not interested.” I said “How do u know? Horrible place... went in for an exhaust manifold... I told them the yr, model and they come out with a manifold that doesn't look like mine... I told them that I probably wouldn't fit, but they insisted that it would... brought the part home, and sure enough, it didn't fit... took the part back, and was told that they'll have another for me... one month later and they still d oesnt have a part for me... and wait, NO REFUNDS..... told their greedy, lying ass to keep my money if I wanted $30 that bad... My first review but I couldn't go without saying how shady this place is. GO ELSEWHERE!! THERE IS ANOTHER PARTS PLACE JUST DOWN THE ROAD! USE IT! I went to discount auto and got a strut that I specifically asked for a passenger front side. It even said it on the receipt! Saturday went to purchase a fuel pump, while inside a woman attempted to exchange a part and was told SoRrY we don't exchange parts on Saturday we're just open . Back to my fuel pump I gave all the details I could regarding my vehicle and was assured the one I was given would fit. It DIDN'T. I traveled back to exchange it for another bringing along the old one to be 100% sure this time I would have the correct pump. I arrived after 5 towards the end of the day and was told SoRrY we don't exchange parts after 5. No where does it say anything about special designated times for returns , and exchanges. Also the woman behind the desk was beyond rude and basically told me to get *(&$+@ ..... I will return at the proper exchange time after I call to find out when that is and then that will be the last time I ever use that DUMP for any business. I would highly recommend you not waste your time nor hard earned money in this joke of an establishment. They don't care about you or your issues with their services or products. They want to snatch your cash bout of your hands as quick as possible and then they're done with you . Your SOL. *$#& this place!

Larry (the owner) used to come into the Sorrento's pizza I managed. He convinced me to buy parts from him at his old location (he moved from Detroit since if that gives you an idea of his shady ways). Years later I am a mechanic an started going to discount in Mt Clemens and have only had wrong part after wrong part. The horrible and careless staff time after time tell you they have the correct part and make you pay before they bring it up, only to find when I get back to the shop it is broken or just a similar part that will not fit or work. I have given Larry multiple chances to simply provide the service I paid for and he just can't deliver. After 20 + bad transactions I have only had one part that worked, and I still had to go back three times to get the right one. It's a scam... Once they sell you the wrong part... You can only get store credit and then you want to use it to get your money back. But wait... "The right part is more money". Then your credit grows and you still only have wrong parts... I have over a $1200 credit built up there and will never see the money back ever. It's all lies, leading on, bait and switch and a scams. Only cash transactions leave you without the protection of using a credit card and unable to protest the transaction. You see it's all planned out. Larry, i don't know how you sleep at night? Maybe the Sorrento's ribs make you forget you are a crook, con and a schister... I'm serious..... Find God or something, whatever it takes.

Quick and easy! Called to turn in a car and they picked it up within a couple days. They were really nice over the phone and the gentlemen that came to the house was even friendlier. As for the process of turning in a car, it's the easiest part. Just have your title ready and they take care of the rest. I would highly recommend based off my experience.

This place is a total scam, should have read these reviews first. First off these people are disgusting human beings. They are rude and have no manners. They are incompetent when it comes to automotive knowledge. I would bet not a single one of them have automotive repair experience. The first motor I received was bad, looks like metal came through the intake and chewed up a piston and cylinder wall. The next motor they gave me was wrong. It was set up for EGR when the one I needed didn't. Then for the 3 weeks following this I go up there every couple days, because they don't call like they say they will, every time I go they tell me a few days. So here I am, over a months later, bought the engine I needed somewhere else, sold the vehicle I needed it for and they still haven't done anything for me. I politely asked for my cash back. I filed a small claim against them and have court on 10-14-2016. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE

I cannot give one start to these people. Honestly I would rather walk then ever do business with this company again. I'm buying the rear end for my truck which is effectively the entire rear axle. They say they'll deliver 1 mile away from me. Guess what, they deliver the WRONG part. I must have spoken to 4 different people over the course of about an hour and finally hung up when the explained, for the 10th time, they will not pick up the wrong part they delivered and bring the correct one. NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Now this is a pretty big part, so I literally rented a uhaul, my truck is on a hoist, drive across town on lunch, take them the new part, argue with the guys WHY it was the wrong one as he could only scratch his head and say this should work. I tried to show him pictures of the correct one which he barely glanced at. They do not do cash back only exchanges and now after 3 days, the say bring the old one up or bring pictures. UUUGHHH. They have now refused to take the correct one to them! While I was in there I over heard 3 other people going through pretty much the same thing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS YARD AS THE PART U BUY MAY NOT FIT OR EVEN WORK- You've been warned lol So you know I'm very easy going and asked nothing unreasonable.

I gave them the year model and trans model no. and they sold me the wrong transmission, they had to have the old trans to match it with brought the old one back they didn't have any removed and would have to remove one. it had 20,000 more miles on it than the one that i bought and they would call me when the get it removed. no refunds or credit for other parts. they cant even give you a vin# so you can check the parts your self. this place is a rip off . i would give them no stars but it won't let me. stay away

This place does not keep good inventory. They consistently will sell you the wrong part just because it looks like it. They cause me to spend $125 extra than I need to spend. GM transmission are not the same even though they look like it.

Went in waiting for an oil pump to be pulled for my vehicle was told it would be 15 mins after 45 minutes I ask what’s going on? The bag at the counter yells it’ll be soon! So as I was disrespected I started barking at her grrrr grrrr grrr next thing I know This Elvis a-hole impersonator comes out and starts singing “you ain’t nothing but a hound dog, cryin all the time” yup you guessed it, it was Larry the owner of the place I started laughing and started to walk out but quickly turned back and said hey Larry, you’re in ......the haaaaaaaall of shame! ????????

They tend to give you the wrong thing here and then when you bring it back because it doesn't fit in your car they give you a credit slip you never get your cash back and then they hang up Under New Management signs so that they don't have to honor the credit slip be very leery of buying anything here

Sent my 19 year old daughter to get a part from them the first day gave her the wrong part, sent her back, gave her the wrong part again, sent her for the 3rd time, it was past 48 hours so they won't give her the credit for the part, what a rip off. Will let the BBB how much they rip people off

My daughter just went up there and bought a used tire....receipt shows the correct size but the idiots pulling parts gave her the wrong tire....got home, noticed was wrong size and they tell us it's our problem, no refunds...asked to speak to owner and the owner tells us to F off!!! Do not do business with these low life rats!!! Their parts pullers are ignorant and the owner is a real jackass pretending to be a business man..... Warning to all.... Do not do business with these idiots!!!

0 stars!! bought a transmission for my truck wrong one will not give a exchange or a refund unless you leave a request for the owner, been put around the bush for 4 weeks returned bad transmission have yet to get a new one and they still have my money and will not refund it can not get ahold of the manager or the owner.. this place is a joke a very bad business I DO NOT recommend that anyone does business with this poor excuse of a salvage yard! very unprofesional

I went there and got a transmission and it was junk. Nevertheless I tried to get another one and basically they said I’m screwed. So if you want to go somewhere and just hand over money for nothing, this is the place to go.

Crooks. They will sell you something, claim it's for your vehicle. Then after you remove your broken part, and go to install whatever you bought it's going to be the wrong thing! You go to return it, and they claim they will have the proper part in a few days. Well days turn into months, and they refuse to give any refunds. Pure SCAM they have going on. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!

These people took awesome care of me!! Factory stereo with CD player $10 When everywhere else was $70. Headlight assembly was cheaper than anyone else and my radiator core support was half the price if anywhere else. Worth the drive!!

ZERO STARS ISN'T AN OPTION OTHERWISE.... I have dealt with yards all over the metro area and many out of state too. I know what to expect. The salvage industry isn't a 'feelings' based community so I don't care much about surely dudes with bad attitudes. I kind of expect it. Doesn't bother me in the least. What does bother me is a yard that doesn't know one part from another. DO NOT DO NOT Waste your time or money here. You have been warned. It's just my opinion.....

This place did not have the correct part instead of just saying that they did not have the part they sold me a part they knew would not work and then refused to return my money. they continued to have me come back over 3 times and kept giving me the wrong size rim. This is just poor customer service and i will never return. I don't recommend anyone to do business with them they just want to take your money.

As I am walking out of this place I am writing this. Unprofessional and rude staffing, they agree on one price and then bullying you down so they pay you less. A $100 dollars that you cut me off, would not make you rich, but does mean a lot to a student. Buying or Selling? Stay away from this place.

I cant believe this place can get away with what they are doing. They sold me the wrong engine and wouldn't give me my money back. They claimed to have my exact engine soon and that was over 6 months ago, I have been catching rides to work for 6 months and now im stuck with them selling me dreams. Do not do business with Discount Auto Salvage in Mt Clemens. They don't deserve to stay in business and don't deserve your money. The reviews speak for themselves. I'm an extremely dissatisfied customer and will never use or recommend this business. I had to get the police involved! I don't know how they haven't been shut down yet. This place is for mechanics. If you got your experience watching dad or are fetching parts for your hubby stay home. You have to know what you are looking at. Bring your old part. Match it up. Make sure its not full of mud. The bearings dont squeak or bind. Whatever. They just pull parts, they dont evaluate them for you. I have turned down parts several times and they either get a different one or you go somewhere else. Problem is not this place. Problem is you want a dirt cheap part and expect it to be brand new and perfect. Problem also is you dont have a clue what you are doing and think you can fix cars without formal training, an apprenticeship under a master mechanic, and a federal or state license. Maybe you should try moving into the medical field and do brain or heart surgery. Oh wait, you have to have a license for that too! -Master Auto and Master Heavy Truck mechanic who did pay his dues.

Rip us off, my truck is useless. They gave me the wrong trans. Then asked for the old one, so they could compare them so they could make things right. We they can’t find my original transmission and they don’t have a trans for me. So now we’re screwed. After fighting with them going there every 3 day for 6 weeks wasting gas, time, my sanity. What are you suppose to do? Then on top it off it sat at a mechanics for the 6 weeks and he wanted something, so we’re out thousands. I guess that’s how they stay in business by ripping people off. Wish I would’ve read the reviews first. I know family that uses this place all the time never had a problem for years. But I guess it’s changed a lot and they just don’t care about people ????

I mentioned another item I needed and got an immediate "NO. mmm-mm!". Uhm did you even look girl?
