I am a Partsman by trade and... i swear this place is the worst to phone in too...... An instant "no" i don't have that part....... Call is done within seconds flat.... so i rate them at "1" stars. I personally take pride in customer service and what I received was Definitively Not that....Honestly I had to change my comment because I can't have 0 stars.... Call these guys if you want to get rid of an unused/junk car. Was weary of calling the other scrapyards in Victoria after reading peoples' reviews saying that they had gotten ripped off, sworn at on the phone, etc. These guys couldn't be more friendly, were quick, efficient, answered my questions, and didn't try to dick me around. Awesome.

They sold us some wheels that were actually bent. Our mechanical guy didn't wanted to install them on our vehicle as it was compromising the inspection for ICBC. When we told them, they just answered us that they have a no refund policy. So, they sold us parts full price that were actually clearly second hand and just don't want take them back...

I'd make it a minus star, but that's not an option! Phoned ahead for part and wanted 2 (last one lasted 10 months). Was hot outside when I showed up and a large tow truck was driving around on side of building (a lot of dust) So I bought my 1.5 yr old dog in with me (on leash) as there was no shade to park in... Goof closest to door pointed at my dog and said "dog in your car" and the pointing motion from dog to car... Was speechless as I walked to door, then said we'll its hot outside (as I pondered timing her to the "outside " of the car)... The other fellow said "sorry, no smoking and dogs" "and I said thats fine (it's your place), I just didn't like the way he said it! I'll go somewhere else" and left... I get that this guy works in a junk yard and customer service is not a priority but he should be in the BACK of the shop, not the front door! Should someone would of say HI (first and foremost) Sorry not pets inside or maybe a sign outside? I would not be writing a review and I would have spent and continues to spend my money there however now I going out of my way to complain! I usually go 2-3 times a year and know no more... Just a rant, but he deserves it-

Absolutely atrocious customer service. Probably the worst I've ever experienced. Why have someone work the phones at an auto wrecker who seems annoyed to have to look up parts and gives attitude to the customer? Isn't that their job? Especially when I'm potentially buying thousands of dollars worth of components it was quite shocking. Try showing some respect to your potential customers, idiots! I will do my best to avoid buying anything from here in the future.

I called this auto wrecking and the person who answered the phone sounded very upset. I asked him for the part I needed and he confirmed he had it. I went there and pick it up and paid cash for it to save paying tax. When I went home, i found out that I was given the wrong part. I called them immediately and talked to the same guy. He was very rude and he told me cash sale with no receipt we couldn’t do anything for you. I was shocked to hear this. I am stuck with $90 part which I have no use for. I asked to talk to the owner and was told he was not there. I drove back 45 minutes again and demanded my money back. I showed them the part I needed and the one they sold me. It was absolutely 200% their fault selling me the wrong part. when they saw that they missed up, they agreed to give me my money back. I waisted $30 on gas going there and driving each way 45 minutes. Very rude people, very unprofessional, using foul language, very disrespectful, unfriendly, uneducated, and sounded racist. I do not recommend this place at all. Be careful if you have to deal with them.

They had lots of parts I was looking for, which was great, for a very common vehicle. But the prices were overall higher than what I've paid from other wreckers. Fortunately they have lots of older VW (Mk2, Mk3, lots of Mk4 and Vans). I was disappointed with the price of almost everything I bought and feeling gouged especially that there is no guarantee on electronic components, (which was a risk at the pricepoint). Anything fabric I needed was covered in mold, the radio I needed was covered in mold. I get that the cars are outside and this isn't really preventable, but I have to pay a high price for something in already poor condition that needs meticulous cleaning beforehand to make it safe and useable. They don't accept any price negotiation so don't try - it's a take it or leave situation. I think this is just the unfortunate reality of the wrecking industry and junky car parts are pricy just to keep the business open and wages paid so I kind of understand their situation. I think these issues also speak to a societal problem and the unsustainable way in which we buy, use, and dispose (literally trash) our vehicles. Best of luck Malahat Auto.
