Horrible customer service! They don't take your bin when their supposed to then tell you 3 days to come and empty it when its almost full. Get yourself some red bins (you know who they are!) and discover what good customer service really means!

Much better than most places because the just sort and weigh it for you, no feeling like a dummy for categorizing it wrong and you aren’t being sent home with your misc. soup of metals like other recyclers do.

They have become way to GREEDY. I went in to purchase a couple pieces of 2"pipe, combed through the scrap yard and finally found a few super rusty ones. Was directed to the front to pay, first the fellow claimed that they were 100lb each and I told him there was no way. Then he came back after double checking the thickness sheet and said that they are 70lbs each. After that he proceeded to tell me that he was going to lower the price for me and only charge $1.10 per pound, so $150. Meanwhile in the other line, which they purchase steel from people, a fellow was not very happy that they were only paying him 10.5 cents per pound. I understand, we all want to make money, but trying to make ten fold on your customers is not right. I have purchased many things from General over the years, after this incident, I explained that buying steel from people for ten cents and selling it to other people for over a dollar is wrong. I didn't pay, explained my feelings and he told me that he wasn't sure what his own company pays for steel. I explained that I would never return and I left. I went to Ryan Steel and bought the same pipe for $50.

Great prices for buying scrap steel! Way cheaper then what you'd pay for new, but sometimes you gotta go out in the yard to find it. The boys in the yard are helpful and will cut down bigger pieces for you.

Here’s a thought CHANGE YOUR HOURS ON YOUR WEBSITE IF YOUR NOT OPEN..Nothing like waking up @ 6:30 on a Saturday to morning to load your truck to the brim with scrape, drive 40 min to be there at 8 only to find your not open and haven’t been on saturdays for a month. Then have to unload everything when i get home cause i need my truck for other errands.

One of their vehicles shot up something from the road and completely destroyed my windshield and the company is taking 0 responsibility for it and will not cover any of the costs for me to replace. I've been buying steel from General for a long time, I've also sold aluminum and copper to General, besides new steel they also have recycled steel for sale. The yard workers are a good lot and the office staff are knowledgeable and helpful. General metals is my first choice when I go looking for steel.

Worst place ever guy that works in the front with glasses is very rude I had 20 feet of chain link fence 3 sinks and 2 barbecues he told me I won’t get paid because it’s not enough don’t go to this place
