I've gone to this recycling centre approximately 6 times. I always go when I have four bags full of cans and bottles because that's what will fit in my car. Typically we get $11. The last time we went when we looked at the slip the amount of bottles didn't add up to the amount they said they were going to pay us. The cashier fixed it and we ended up getting $16. My boyfriend was frustrated with this so we've decided to go to a different recycling centre. We've since gone to two other recycling centres multiple times. And we're still only going with 4 bags but now we get between $17 to $20. That is a significant difference and it really bothers me at this company is scamming people out of such a large sum.

Please teach your shunt driver how to drop a trailer. I was there to pick up trailer at least 4 times from your yard, each time the trailer legs are cranked up too high.

Fisy time I have been able to get rid of my redeemables in the COVID-19 season. Feels good to have my back deck back again. They're open if you don't mind the wait.

Slim shady didn't liked the way I parked and made me adjust, strike one. took my bottles and took his good ole time counting. Came back with my slip and wouldn't give me until I grabbed a number, was the only one there. Won't be back

Rating reflects Chain Lake location. Chain Lake does not handle steel in ANY capacity but gladly will waste your time getting you to pull your vehicle all over the place in their lot before turning you away. Their enviro-depot section doesn't handle electronic waste/printer carts -- they are fast though for counting cans/bottles if there is no line. They make no effort to advertise their Mills Rd location for steel drop off which is <10 km away. This Enviro-depot hours on Saturdays SUCK, you are better off going to Tanner's Transfer if you are a late sleeper on Saturday or have electronics to rid of. I give John ross & Son's Mills Rd a 4/5, it looses a point for its Saturday hours, and its traffic control for its weigh scale is shoddy (no signage, only a small buzzer to alert you the scale attendant has logged your vehicle weight), need traffic lights on both ends controllable by the scale attendants. Their customer service is bang on and they pay out market rates.

If you take the time to plan your day for a return on scrap metal or "PETTY" $0.05 Pop cans and $0.10 bottles you'll be more than glad that you've done your part for environmental protection. People don't understand that it's not the short term gain for recycling products. You are charged $0.10 per can $0.20 per bottle when you purchase these products. We are lucky that we have a program in place to recuperate some costs (50%). Stop whining, eat your disgusting kale with quinoa and move one. Nobody likes a whiny, pushover, hipster wannabe. John Ross is a business and even they need to make a living. They are honest and offer competitive compensation. Y'all need to get over yourselves and plan your daily schedule with a less selfish timeline. Children or not... figure it out and stop whining.

This is a very dishonest recycling depot, I used it for a year, my wife & I knew they were ripping us, but you need evidence. Well we did a three trip evidence trip we had two weddings ! We decided to use Coors light cans twice 8 x 38 = 288 288 x 5 cents = $14.40 gave us first time 185 second time 154 That is very dishonest in my book. Ripped us for $6.70 another $ 5.15 . The third time they got us for $8.60 I don’t recommend taking your cans & bottles here. I can’t stand a thief or a liar These folks stole from me, now I give them to charity you say why three times I wanted to catch the the guy , different guys the first two times , the third time same as the first. Now I know.

they don't pay as good as they say. call around every time. can get more money elsewhere. I have had friends tell me they got ripped off here and I have to. I have noticed weight missing and being way under paid for cretin thing again and agian. if you don't watch them close they will take weight off your haul. and pay you less even thought the price never changed

Yikes. Could not hear a thing because of the blaring music on Sat when I cashed in my few bottles. Ask the worker where I could dispose of my propane cylinders and couldn't hear him through the music. The one day you can take your bottles in and they turn up the music so you can't ask them anything. I went home and called and found out I beed to take them near Exhibition Park. How conveient (not)! It's no wonder people are dumping stuff illegally.

I went there to to Recycle a Aluminium rim. I waited 10 minutes no one would help me. They drove by on fork lifts and wouldn’t Help. Another issue is I put rim on scale and it weighed at 23 pounds. I got frustrated and left and went to to AIM recycling and they weighed the rim at 26 pounds. Needless to say I won’t be going back here again.

Probably my least favourite yard I ever been too they tried to rip me off last time I was there and probably did in the past, do not recommend, worth bringing your metal in Halifax if you can. I would recommend harbour metals and darmouth metals
