Guys are absolute scabs. Took a load of steel roofing to recon on Monday and got $240.00. Took a bigger load to these clowns and got $53.20. Then I call the office a half hour after I left and the guy tells me there $170.00 a ton and not $70.00. Liars. Don’t waste your time and go to any other recycler.

I've picked up metals several times so far for some projects I've been doing. They had what I needed. They answered my questions. They cut the metal to fit in my pickup (10ft pieces). They loaded it and gave me a red flag. Everyone was friendly and helpful (I had never bought metal before). Their website also had a list of what they stocked, including price and weight. What more do you want?

Very disappointed at the customer service in the office. I called in and told them what I had before I brought it in and they gave me a price for heavy metal. When I got there, the office tried to direct me to the light metal pile, but one of the yard employees looked at my load and directed me to the heavy pile instead. After I dumped, they paid me $50/ton less than they had quoted me. I questioned why and they said “rebar is a pain to work with” even though I told them I was bringing rebar before I drove in to the city. I used to take all my scrap there because it was convenient but now I’ll go out of my way to go somewhere else. I also left feedback on their website but no one even bothered to follow up with me. Bottom line, haul your scrap somewhere else where they pay what they say. Shady.

Service was terrible, unless you like crabby old ladies! It's NOT a Fab shop she tells me, wanted 24' cut to 12' lengths, they use to offer this service but don't even think about it now!

Incredible service and the best prices in town for mild steel. Never met warehouse workers as friendly as these guys. Just wish they would stock some "specialty" steels like (4140, 01, etc.) But if you're looking for mild steel in Calgary there is simply no point looking anywhere else than Federal Metals. Just to give you an idea of how good their prices are I just paid $0.92 per foot for 1/4" x 1" flat bar. The next best price in Calgary I could find was $3.50 per foot. Absolutely unbeatable prices.

I have been to Federal Metals almost once a week (sometimes more) for over a year now. The staff at Federal metals are professional. If you need a hand they will help, if you have a question they will answer or find someone who can. They respect their customers and reward repeat customers. They have always been fair and quick. I DEFINITELY recommend Federal Metals to anyone who needs to recycle metals and such or anyone who is looking for scraps.

Located in Calgary's deep Southeast and easily found on the West side of 52nd Street about equal distance between Glenmore Trail and 130th Ave, this metal recycler had me in and out quickly, easily and safely. Their shop was being meticulously cleaned by staffers and after weights were calculated I had money in my hand in minutes. For larger loads, a vehicle scale is conveniently located next to the shop office. Staff were both kind and courteous.

Federal Metals probably has the best prices for buying steel in Calgary, the guys in the steel tent are also great at helping you out. I've never had steel cut here and usually get stuff in 12ft lengths, but it looks like they can cut the steel too. Overall a great place to buy from.

They sell steel. Prices are good. What more do you want? It would be awesome to have some alloy or high carbon steel (maybe they do i just didn't see it) but still a great place.

Always super friendly and they always give the best prices, at least for aluminum. (That's all I ever take in there). They can offer a better price for scrap aluminum because they take the time to sort it properly, unlike other scrap yards that give you only a single, low-ball price. Definitely the best in the city.

Excellent prices with no minimum buy as compared to Metal Supermarkets which charge 3x 4x more for the same Hot Rolled steel. I wish they expanded more their selection in the area of Cold Rolled steel as well as more aluminium types.

I am building a squat rack and have gone here twice for select materials. They are incredibly helpful and they welcome small orders - no $200 minimum like some places ask. Great place, friendly people, always helpful. (not the easiest to find given the recent changes to the roads)

Was quoted a buy rate for scrap metal before going there. After being misdirected where to unload in the yard several times, was unloaded and metal mixed into pile. Was then told they would not pay for the steel??? Eventually they agreed to pay at 1/10 the quoted price. My advice take you scrap elsewhere avoid the headache and being ripped off.

Fair and Friendly! Even though my haul was small potatoes relative to the big contractors, the folks at Federal Metals treated me very well.. especially for a first-timer. I received a fair price for my materials (although I think I will start stripping all of my wire as copper is doing very well at the time of this writing). Thanks for the positive experience!

These guys pick up all of the scrap metal from my shop and are always great to deal with, and come when they say they will. They also sell new metal at great prices. Much nicer to deal with on the phone than any other recycler I've used.
