This is Scarlett Heights, not York Memorial Collegiate Institute. The address is incorrect. My apologies: YMC had a fire and classes were moved to former Scarlett Heights. So, technically SHC is acting YMC now.

At the school today, there was a lock down claiming that there was a fight outside the school in the parking lot, news report that 2 people was stabbed but this doesn't change the fact that the school has very good teachers and staffs teaching us many useful things in the future but recently the students have been lacking starting fights making the public view of YMCI as a dangerous school

I was a student here and in the graduating class of 1999. I was in the enriched program as this school promotes a focus on academics. York Memorial had an excellent music program. Mr. Michael Perkins was an outstanding educator and very easily the best teacher I had in any year, grade, subject or school. Memo also had a decent athletics program but I feel much more could have been done parlay its success into an effective boost of school spirit. Its focus on academics comes with a price in the way of very little practical programming. While learning, perhaps even being inspired by, intellectual ideas and concepts what is being missed out on is the opportunity for useful, transferable experience and skills. If you're an average, well-adjusted student from a stable home your time at York Memorial will be positive and you will finish your time there with many happy memories. But I believe and feel that those students who struggled, coping with really any type of prolonged issue or stressor will likely not recall their time at Memo with such fondness. I'm not suggesting that the school was a primary source for those issues but one could certainly feel 'forgotten'.

Amazing School no sign of kids dealing with drugs well behaved people and teachers are nice and friendly good highschool in the west of toronto

Only spent one year at Y.M.C.I. grade nine, but it was probably the most enjoyable time I spent in the education system. The facilities were excellent and the extra curicular activities were what ever you wanted them to be. Wish I had the opportunity to go through to grade 13.
