I've been an international student at AACC for a year now. Emma Thompson, responsible for international students, is phenomenal and made everything so easy for me to study here in the United States! She is very communicative and remembers everyone including their names. 9.5/10 times the advisors will always give you the best advise, and show you the right direction for your career path. The Arnold campus' gym and pool is on point. AACC offers a 7 to 1 ratio in classes, which means seven students to one teacher. My biggest class only had 12 students. My teachers were knowledgeable, interactive, and helpful. I've only had a problem with one teacher.
For my computer science information class during the Spring 2015 term I had Professor Penny Foster. She didn't teach us anything throughout the entire semester and I felt as though I wasted my money on a class I was originally very excited for. On the first day she mentioned she had been teaching the class for 40 years, and that we would be building an entire PC ourselves. Second class she gave us Microsoft Word lessons on Microsoft access, PowerPoint and excel with a chapter project from the book she made us read. I then realized this class wasn't going to be on hardware but on software instead. And indeed it did, this went on throughout the entire semester. Never has she stood in front of the class or had any legitimate answer to anyone's question about the lessons we were doing or on computers. When I did ask questions, she would come to my computer and do the work herself without explaining what she was doing. There where days where she wouldn't show up to our once a week classes, while never telling us when class was canceled. Even though having experienced this awful teacher, this didn't change my opinion of AACC. The students in my class made it worth it as we helped each other learn. Everybody has passed the class due to our study groups. We all strive for success here and our atmosphere is very welcoming! I highly recommend you attend Anne Arundel Community College.
