Miss Millward taught our son second grade. Our first impression of her came at a field trip she organized at the end of the previous school year. The field trip was not fancy, but it was well thought out, with engaging games and activities and lots of unstructured play time at a new playground. It was just what the kids needed at the end of the school year. We were most impressed with the attention she payed to the kids playing and how well she organized and managed the parents involved. Her communication skills are way above par, and she understands each child’s individuality. Her talents as a teacher were evident when we visited the classroom. It was filled with engaging activities and a variety of different learning areas. If a child was doing independent reading, there was a bean bag chair to really get comfortably into the book. Desks were rearranged constantly to give a variety to the ways the students were working together. Her teaching style is very calm. She is demanding in just the right ways to get results. She stimulates a love for learning and fosters personal responsibility. She considers a child’s learning path as a puzzle to be worked out and tries different things until something clicks. We are very impressed with Miss Millward and are very excited that she will be teaching our son this coming school year. She is our first choice. There is nothing better.
