The music teachers at the Northern Conservatory of Music are excellent and extremely qualified as practicing and accomplished artists. They know how to challenge their students, and to push their ability, but not in an overwhelming or stressful way. They are also excellent at building positive relationships with their students. My 16 year old daughter loves her piano teacher, Peggy and my 13 year old son is just as excited about his guitar teacher, Steve. Pre-COVID-19, they were both participating in face-to-face lessons. When COVID-19 hit, Maggie and Aaron could no longer participate in face-to-face lessons, but they wanted to continue learning. At this time, NCM decided to try something unprecedented and innovative; they were going to deliver lessons online using video conferencing tools like Zoom and FaceTime. We decided to give it a try. Maggie and Aaron have continued to learn and to progress as young musicians with this distance delivery model. They both have decided to continue with lessons this summer and into the fall. This innovative model brings about equity of opportunity for our students in the North. By utilizing tools like Zoom, we can now access extremely qualified and practicing musicians for almost every instrument regardless of the community we live in. The added bonus for us as parents is that we no longer have to drive for lessons. We highly recommend the instructors at NCM. Our children have grown as young musicians thanks to these passionate musicians.
