I have attended BLI two times. Once in the fall for 2 weeks and again for 5 weeks in January and February. The first time, I had such a good experience I had to temper my expectations, thinking it couldn't possible be as fun and educational a second time around. However, I ended up having an even better experience my second time. I have also been to another language school in France, and in my opinion, BLI was vastly superior. What really sets BLI apart is the communal nature of the school. It's a small and intimate experience. All the students and teachers eat lunch together in the cafeteria. You form bonds with the other students and learn and participate in activities together. All my teachers at the school were exceptional, and not just from a standpoint of teaching the material well, but in forming relationships with the students and making the class fun and exciting, even when the grammar was painful and difficult. I really cannot recommend BLI enough. Quebec is a fantastic city, a unique francophone region of North America that's not quite like the rest of North America, nor France. It is its own, beautiful entity. Between the city, and the people at the school, I think BLI is perfect for anyone wanting to learn French and I would love to return. Thank you to everyone who helped make my experiences so fantastic including my wonderful host family.
