We stayed here in mid-August. Upon arrival, my room had clearly not been attended to- everything was removed but nothing was set up again- no sheets, pillow cases, not even a shower curtain! After driving for 8 hours with 2 kids, I just wanted to get to my room and go to sleep. It doesn't end there! At 11:30pm the fire alarm stars ringing. I had to drag my 2 children out of bed and down 3 flights of stairs, and sit outside. The firefighters arrive, check the place out, turn the alarms off, and the staff let us back in. 10 minutes after returning, around 12:30am this time, THE ALARM GOES OFF AGAIN! I, again, had to drag my 2 children (one was 6 months old at the time, the other is 5 years old), back downstairs, sit outside. I paid for sleep. I didn't get to sleep until 1:30am because they didn't address the problem the first time. When I contacted the manager they told me to contact, he first told me the alarms only went off once (I'm pretty sure I was there, and so were the firefighters... so what is that?). He offered a petty night stay (we travelled with my brother and his wife, so there were 2 rooms that we paid for, and they only offered 1 free night between the 2 of us). ON TOP OF THAT he never even bothered to send the voucher. Just save yourself the hassle and go to a Best Western.

I just stayed there, and it's what you expect...cheap accommodations. Everything slightly shabby, obviously used year round, but adequate enough. It's the staff who makes the place unbearable. I was approached by one Jocelyn there who attacked me very passive aggressively, and berated me for the actions of many strangers who were not with me. I highly recommend finding other arrangements.

Linda Heldman

This was a nice alternative to a regular hotel. Was close the the event I was attending. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice to have a full size fridge there. Could not adjust thermostat very well. Found the room very warm and dry for my liking. Needed a cart to bring in lugage but none available. Apparently, the one they had was stolen and hasn't been replaced yet. I would stay here again. The price was right for what I got.

Miranda-Lee Couture

Had fun. The one stove on each floor was half broken. The cleaning ladies didn't do what we where told they would do. Way over priced. only one laundry mat. WiFi sucked.

Reasonably priced accomodations for the money. There should be better information about where to pay for parking. We lost $5 at the meter as a result of the lack of information. That's the reason for my giving a rating of 3.

The college is wesome with great faciliyies like gym, cafeteria, starbucks, tim hortons. It has great connection store. You get 1000 free copies to print out each semester. Computer lab with printers in various building. Organises a lot of free touring within ottawa, free movies and other fun events too. You can participate in voluteering through AC hub and increase your worth to companies when applying for jobs.

Terrible. Service for wireless internet in dorms are terrible. Can’t get any service. I had to call ITS SERVERAL TIMES... unbelievable. Just so they can take a look at it. My connected internet cable in my dorm wasn’t working, and needed to wait 3 weeks for maintenance which was a (3 minute fix)!!!! If you’re thinking of being on residence I suggest you look for an apartment. This caused me a lot of fuss with not being able to work in my own environment. If I’m paying tons of money for Residence atleast have the services ready...

I moved into residence for my first year at Algonquin and ran into a lot of problems. The first day I moved in my room was damaged and had wallpaper peeling off, my window hadn't even been put and I fought for a week to have it put back in and my only leverage was that it had rained and gotten my belonging wet, my air conditioning unit was broken as well. On my first day my RA told us the wifi was so bad you should just use your data. That was very frustrating as well because Algonquin college pretty much runs all assignments and updates through black board and most textbooks are online so a better internet would have made more sense, if you can bring your own router to plug into their network in your room you can see slight improvements. The laundry facility wasn't terrible, although today I spent 10 dollars to try and do 1 load of laundry because I washed it and had to dry it twice, both times did not work and was told to come back in the morning to talk to staff again only to then have to wash and dry it one more time. The kitchen facility is functioning but not kept well and not attached to central air or any vents so it essentially is a closet with appliance in it and the only air flow comes from the very poor range hood, I sit in their for 20 minutes and feel physically ill from the smell and heat. Our tap water comes out white and in some rooms brown so I would recommend getting a brita filter. A cleaning lady comes in once a week but I am not sure they actually do much cleaning usually my belongings have been shifted and my shower has been rinsed. Meal plan was very expensive and virtually not worth it, the food is very very pricy and the cafs in the school serves decent food but the hours are restricted to school hours and close early on Fridays, so weekends and at night you have the only option of the market in residence that serves bland hot food and pricy bags of chips. I essentially lived off of the chicken fingers because they where consistent and decent. I don't expect much from a college dorm but you do spend a good deal of money for an uncomfortable living situation. Socially it was beneficial to me, but if you want to live near campus and get more for your money I would recommend an apartment and a roommate, you would end up spending less and have a much more reliable living arrangement. This issues above would not have been that bad if I could have gone down stairs and had some immediate assistance, residence is run more or less through a third party and with Algonquin, so an issue that arises here wont get solved unless you are there during school hours or when a manager is around, this must be frustrating for the staff I am sure. It seems they can mostly help with your packages, lock outs things of that nature and mostly need to redirect you to solve anything else. Moving into residence I don't regret entirely, it was very close to school and made making friends easier, just for the amount of money I am spending I would have hoped it to be easier and nicer to live in. If you don't need help socially and have friends here you will save money moving into an apartment and be much more comfortable.

A bit on the expensive side, the building is a bit on the old side, and the elevators are far and few between, but my son loves the residence. The private rooms are relatively large, with nice windows, the common area for roommates, is nice, with a fair size kitchenette and bathroom.

Mario Ibrahim

Good, Clean and Spacious for the price. House keeping doesn't do anything though.

We were in a trip to Gatineau and Ottawa, and booked at the same day, the price was almost half of any other hotel or motel there. We booked a suit of 2 rooms with twin beds, one bathroom, and dining room. Everything was super neat and clean. It was much better than any other hotel,We used the parking for only $5/day. The staff are super friendly and nice. I highly recommend to all who visit Ottawa or Gatineau.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This residence is absolutely terrible. My roommate and I lived on the ground floor and constantly had people banging on our windows at night as they walked by. Despite reporting it several times to the staff, they did nothing to prevent it and made no effort to help me and my roommate handle it. They told us there was nothing they could do and to just deal with it. The bathroom in our suite also had a silverfish issue, which once again, they did nothing to fix despite us reporting it. On top of all that the food here is absolutely terrible. We were forced to get a meal plan that can only buy us food that made us both so sick. I don't know what kind of chemicals they are using in their "food" but it is clearly inedible. Worst living experience I have ever had. It is far too expensive to have to put up with the nonsense. It is absolutely NOT worth living here under any circumstances. Abandon all hope ye who live here.

Erin McCafferty

Took us hours for someone to help us get into our rooms since they gave us two sets of keys that didn't work. The internet is terrible and works selectively. Our room smells like someone's been smoking. Also, there have been three fire alarms in the middle of the night in two nights. Apparently it's just a problem with the system, but so annoying. I would stay here again just cause I'm cheap and I don't expect much from a college residence

Arturo Baselli

Overpriced! Meal plan is a rip off; you should be allowed to stay until the end of the full semester, but they kick you out 24 h after your last exam or the last the day of the semester, whichever comes first, they make sure to kick you out as soon as possible. Kitchen is a hole with one small vent. Wifi sucks! Is not worth paying the ridiculous amount of money for staying here. Get an apartment close to college.

All-Suite is a joke! There is nothing 'suite' about this place and don't ever think that you can get the courtesy of checking in early... They made me wait until after 3pm despite my room being ready, and this is after flying in from Seattle! They don't supply anything in the kitchen, not even paper towels, the bed is basic, thin sheets and blanket, towels are old, and the TV is 20"!

Worst place I ever been so far. Feel depressed 24/7. They will treat you as a child and act as arrogant as possible. Dirty water, bad wif, expensive and bad food, dry air, no sealing lights. Overall I would not recommend it for anyone. Better than live on the street tho.

I'll be honest. I didn't live in ress, but all my friends who have say it is over priced, not worth all the hype. If you are smart, when you are in school you will ether stay at home, or live with friends/roommates and save money. College will try to make as much money as the can off you, they are a business remember that...Unless Mommy and Daddy are paying for you. Too many rules as well.

Simply bad, maybe even worst. Stayed here for a year and there is nothing good about this residence. Air condition: from the 1980s I guess. It makes a lot of noise. I requested maintenance, they fixed but even the fixed version is noisy. Barely heats the room. Also the fan in bathroom makes a looot of noise, cant hear what I am watching when it is on. Food: Very bad and EXPENSIVE. It's not fresh, tasty, sometimes no food... And still very expensive. Internet: Don't even wanna talk about it. Slow, laggy, consider gaming? DO NOT if you don't wanna lose your mental health. Constantly dc ing. Leaving dates: They force you to leave the residence at the same date as your program ends... Dont even give you 3 days to pack up or something. There is a TV from 2000s inside, no one uses it. Just find a room to yourself from KIJIJI don't waste your money with this place. I wanted to write something possitive but cant really find. Oh also showers.. If you are over 185cm than good luck taking a shower. Only the community is good, a lot of events and stuff. I don't participate but for those who like, it is good.

The place focuses its funds more on creating experiences than it does on the basics of a living space. While the rooms are decently sized, you are forced into buying a meal plan that provides barely edible food at extreme prices. The WiFi is also unspeakably bad. At times I have been completely unavailable to even upload assignments or check facebook, and the people running IT have expressed no desire for anything past band-aid fixes. I would strongly recommend that you live elsewhere if you are able to. The convenience of location does not make up for the inconvenience of day-to-day life.

Worst place ever. Made a review last year.....I was told by the residence staff when I left to give the place a second chance. I am here again and nothing has changed. The hallways are constantly filled with people making noise til late at night. I made over 10 calls to the front desk via phone from the room. I have a bad back and cannot walk all the way to the front desk so I needed assistance but never got any. Couldn't connect to the WiFi due to it being an unsecured network. No noise cancellation. Didn't speak french to me when I said Bonjour but was able to speak hindi at the front desk. Payed for my stay at 2pm and was told I didn't have to wait in line at 4pm when my room would be ready. When I arrived at 4pm....I had to wait in line with a (bad back) for 30 minutes. I hate this place with a passion. Noone come here. You'll be wasting your money. I'd rather pay 150$ more for the Sheridan or delta hotel.

This is the worse ..... I booked through online which I usually do . The surprise started when we arrive to the hotel which it took us a while to find because it's located in the heart of college campus . The reason why it's in the Campus because it's a students dorm, YES!!!!! It's students residential campus ... Dirty , unprofessional , no gym , no swimming pool, spots , and no irony !!! The staff are students not real managements staff ... I asked them if this is a hotel or students residents , she said : it's original / officially a hotel .... What she is taking about !!!! I stayed there for a wedding and I was so upset it because the pictures and details were so different from what I expected ....not recommended but only for emergency staying ....

BEWARE! No coffee maker, no toaster, no ice machine available. They say ' What you pay is what you get', in this case that policy goes way below expectations. Space is designed for 2 students (limited) not much space available around, if you can spend $20 additionally, you could get something better somewhere else even with breakfast. Bed was ok, customer service not too helpful.

I stayed here one summer, they usually turn the residence into a kind of hotel during the summer. It was really cheap, so I stayed. The beds were terrible and the blankets looked dirty, the carpet was stained and dirty, the TV was old and the video quality wasn't great, the sink in the bathroom was leaking and the cleaning service was awful. If I could give this place a -1 star I would.

Shane Sloan

Service was kind and swift, the building is well-maintained and accompanied with great stores to satisfy the needs of its residents.

Jon Butcher

Um, yeah. Don't mistake this place for a Residence Inn, like my company did. The staff are nice, the rooms are good sized dorms, but the 7 minute walk from the front desk to my room was a bit more exercise than usual. Cheap rooms if you're on a budget, and don't mind staying on campus with all the college kids. Coworkers reported bed bugs...

Stayed there 2015/2016 school year. Save your money. Overpriced. Rooms are tiny and walls are thin. They only stop loud party-ers when its convenient to them. Still have yet to get my deposit back even though my room was the same as I got there, as horrible as it was. I had spaghetti on the walls and ceiling when I showed up and no one bothered to clean it. The cleaning ladies do NOT clean. They half-ass sweep and rinse out the shower. Ive had the counter cleaned maybe once by them. I woke from a nap to find 3 of them sitting at MY kitchen table having a chat. I went into the kitchen and they all left. They hadnt cleaned either because the dirt pile I swept up was still there. When you have guests they make you wear an armband AND take your id. When i visited my girlfriend, they give you a stamp and do not take your id. My girlfriend visited me and they LOST her id and had me run from security back to the front desk 4 times before they found it. Laundry rooms never work. One is always out of order and inside the room itself there is always a few machines that dont work. If you overfill the small washers, the water doesnt drain and you flood the floor. The driers are twice the size, it makes no sense, and they take 2 cycles to dry the clothes from the washers even if you dont flood it. To do 2 loads of laundry cost me $12. Safe to say I saved it all for when I went home every 3 months. The food plan is expensive and unhealthy. There are more healthy options in the schools cafe, but they close at night, and are closed early friday all weekend. This leaves you at the residence's cafe that has bland hot food, bland sandwiches, and overpriced junk food. Everything is expensive, and if you eat alot (I do. High metabolism), it runs out quick. I opted for the $3000? one and it didnt even get me through one semester. Wifi NEVER works. I went through a ridiculous amount of data so I could pass my ONLINE ONLY classes. Yes. A school that has mandatory online work but the wifi is never reliable. I got desperate and lived at my girlfriends for a month too. TL;DR Save your money. Im in an apartment this school year for less than $500 a month utilities included.

I am a former student who lived on Residence and let me tell you it was the biggest money grab I’ve ever seen. Food is disgusting and always either dried out or bland at the 34th market st cafe. The rooms are ALWAYS either freezing cold or so hot it’s unbearable...a bunch of students complained about this so i know it wasn’t just my room that had an issue. Wifi is always cutting out so badly I ended up having to purchase an Ethernet cord with my own money, they say they offer you a cord with your room but I asked 3 times for one and not once was I given one. Maids do little to nothing except soak your floor with water and they even used MY coffee maker and ate some of cookies I’d left out on a counter top. The Ra’s And counter staff are rude and are either gossiping about people or completely ignore you as they sit on their phones. Biggest waste of money you’ll ever spend. The cost is way to high for the awful service you get. Save your money and rent a room in the MANY rentals posted online.

Jim Ronalds

Disappointing that they would book hundreds of people to stay on a hot summer weekend when they knew in advance that the building would have no power. No electricity means no air conditioning, no elevators, no lights in parking lot at night, etc, etc. Not particularly clean, uncomfortable beds and furniture. Staff disinterested in customers needs. Tough to find anything good to say. We moved to a nearby hotel for a rate only a few dollars more and far far nicer

WARNING!!!! These people should be shut down for fraud, you know that 500 dollar down payment you make, well you're never getting back, not only that they add on a lot more charges for other things. It's not owned by the school any more it's some company trying to squeeze money out of college kids. DON'T LET THEM DO IT TO YOU!! Also I paid a little more then $900 a month for a room, a place i share with someone else, now I only pay $500 a month where I'm staying now, and if I wanted to move closer to the school it would only be 600.
