Tony was fantastic teacher during our 4 day "Basic Cruising" course. He genuinely enjoys passing on his craft to his students. Highly recommend to anyone remotely interested in sailing. His new boat is a modern 40'+ Beneteau that is well maintained, clean, and well appointed. In my experience sailing schools usually chuck you on some wet cored J boat, Tony's boat was a welcome reprieve. I highly recommend reading the book for this course back to front before setting off. There is a lot of content in this course, and Tony will go over it all - but it's far more enjoyable if you grasp the basics before setting off.

Tony is a great instructor with a lifetime full of sailing experience. He served as my captain and instructor through Intro to Keel Boat and Basic Cruising Standards through Sail Canada. The knowledge of course material and ability to demonstrate the necessary sailing skills was second nature to Tony, making it easy to absorb. He was easily able to connect course material with practical skills on the boat making the course flow smoothly. As a totally inexperienced sailor with nothing but interest in sailing, Tony was not only patient with me but also excited to introduce me to the world of sailing. When it came time to write my exams Tony made sure I was more then prepared and I went in to the exams confidently. The vessel (33' Hunter) itself was perfect for an introduction into cruising (very well equipped, organized, and clean) once again making it easy to relate course material to hands on lessons learned on the boat. I would strongly recommend Admiral Sailing Academy to anyone looking for an introduction to sailing or even experienced sailors looking to broaden their knowledge. Tony is very personable and has hundreds of stories from sailing around the continent to crossing the Atlantic in to the Mediterranean, that surely anyone can benefit from hearing. Aside from the educational aspects, Tony and I had a lot of fun and laughs making an overall great experience that I came out from as a confident sailor ready to start collecting experience independently. Thanks Cap!
