Went there from 1999 to 2004. It was 10% of what it is now. Sadly it still treats its alumni like they are still a small university.

This is the most poorly run and confusing university I have ever been to. I wish I could get a refund and forget that I ever signed up for courses here. Since I already have a university degree, I was only interested in taking two courses through Nipissing for future career endeavors. The Nipissing registrar staff gave me incorrect information from my initial inquiry on the two courses I wanted to take. They advised that I sign up as one kind of student, but then because of that, I wasn't able to enroll in the courses I needed to take and almost missed the first day of classes because of it. They told me in an email that they advised me incorrectly, but wouldn't help me get in to the courses. I ended up emailing the director of the program to get enrolled before the classes begin. Because of the type of student they got me to enroll as, I'm also not allowed to write my exams at Algonquin College with the other students in my course. I really wish I had chosen Athabasca University, as Nipissing's advising and administration is extremely poorly executed. I also found that there was little to no information given out when I began these two courses.

Amazing university experience. Wonderful students, staff and professors. I had an overwhelmingly positive university experience here and would recommend it to anyone. As for the nay sayers in the reviews, your experience is what you make of it, but you will never have more opportunities than at Nip U.

Was my home away from home. "Going away to university" still has its benefits. Benefits one would never be able to experience when one chooses to stay at home and go local... From Chancellor's house residence first year, to the much coveted townhomes located not much further behind lucky 13, my living on my own with roommates ( same from the onset and throughout) was transformative

Great School. I love the local environment created at the School. Residence was awesome, the business program was small & interactive giving you the opportunity to get so much more out of the classes than a traditional business program. Gym is mostly free weights which is fine by me. Cafe is pretty bad and theirs nowhere to get a beer on campus. Other than that i love this school.

Went to Nippissing in 1992 for a year to do a B.Ed. It was a 1 year post grad program. Found the atmosphere very supportive .Hopefully it is still the same .

Extremely bad service from Academic Advisory. They took 14 days to reply one email and they never picked up the call even I left 4-5 voice mails on different dates. Because they took 14 days and didn't respond me on time even I requested them it cost me semester delay and I have to miss my course which offered once a year. Never recommend anyone to go Nipissing University through Academic Advisor. . Except Academic Advisor I think their instructor are very good and helpful. I would love to continue with Nipissing University but never with this kind of service with Academic Advisor.

Too bad they have outsourced their foreign education credentials to only WES , this has resulted in them losing to enroll many eligible and good students. There are other reputed organizations like ICAS which are recognized by IRCC and do a better job than WES but for some reason Nipissing is stuck with WES.

So far I am loving my experience at Nipissing University. When I go to school, I’m always happy to be there. They do a great job to ensure that you feel at home. From someone who is from Ottawa, i feel like this is my home way from home.

i have to say that i have never been in a more delightful atmosphere. i am not going to sugar coat it and say that it was something it was not, as i did have my run in with a few profs, but for the most part, they are human beings and are the most supportive group of people you can imagine at the end of the day. As for the nay Sayers, we all have our days, and they do as well. You keep an open mind and remember that you can only do your best, and approach the experience with an open and honest effort, you will have a marvelous time. I got good marks in subjects i was passionate about, and barely passing grades in subjects that i was taking because it fit my schedule. I will say, you will not find a more passionate group of people from the President (Mike DeGagne) right down to the support staff who keep the University clean. In case you don't know me or have never met me, I am an older student, and served in the Canadian Armed Forces and a veteran of the 1st Gulf War. I served for 11 years and worked at Ford of Canada for 16 years. I have seen my share of experiences around the world and on an assembly line, and there is nothing like going back to school if you have the opportunity and get your BA in something that intrigues you. To all the people that i have met in my University experience, thank you for treating me with respect and i hope that your degree takes you to the heights you deserve. Thank you Nipissing University and all your staff for a great 4 years and I appreciate all you have given me and what i am able to take forward.

Disappointed with Nipissing University and how they have handled themselves during this pandemic and the lack of support and interaction from the Professors. There is no reason Professors should not be in class like every other teacher has been asked to do. Students deserve better!

Very unresponsive advisory, hard to get information or have them pick up the phone. I`m not sure why would it be so hard to answer the questions asked. Shame but decided not to go with this school.

Advertisements have no place in classrooms. Library has too many windows. Some professors treat students in a condescending manner. For example, in my English class, the "professor" who probably didn't even have a Phd, referred to the students as "little babies". There should be mutual respect between Nipissing University and Canadore College, but sadly that is not the case. Administration are bullies that urgently need to study the policies of larger universities so that they can learn how to properly operate a university. Nepotism is a major problem when it comes to hiring at the university. Security services engage in unethical behavior.
