I have been interested in attending Sprott Shaw for the last few years, but the program that I was really interested in was not available at the Nanaimo Campus. Skip ahead to the Covid Pandemic, and the program I wanted to take was now available via WebEx; the Paralegal Diploma Program (maybe some good has come out of the pandemic). I have felt very supported by the staff at my campus, but I definitely have to give a huge thanks, to my Instructor, Anith Miller. Without her and her instruction I would not have the confidence I do today. I still have 6 months left of the program and I already have a job awaiting me when I finish. AMAZING!

Not only have I chosen Sprott Shaw once to take my Health Care Aide back in 2008 but I also just finished taking my Medical Office Assistant course there as well. There is a reason I decided to go back to this school and this particular campus to change my career, there isn't another place with such dedicated, fun, energetic and caring staff. The teachers are phenomenal, the small class sizes are perfect for freely learning in your own way and at your pace, and I have made amazing friends which I know will last a lifetime! Don't think twice, this is the school to attend, you won't be sorry! ❤️????

The only good thing about my experience at sprott Shaw was the CSW instructor Nancy, who also always talked about feeling bullied by the other staff. Shocker that she no longer works there. I felt bullied by the director Brian and felt as I had zero support from him and other staff surrounding practicum. The community support workers class was always labeled as “weird” by other staff, sit ins were told ahead of time that we were all essentially weirdos. My name was included in a graduation video without my knowledge and before I had finished so I didn’t get graduation photos or a proper graduation which I believe was apart of my tuition cost. I’ll never recommend this school and I’ll forever tell everyone about my bad experience.

I decided that I needed a career change, and since I had a great experience in 2004-05, I would go back to Sprott Shaw College. Since the course I took back then was no longer offered, Karen was amazing to help me decide which way in the medical field I could go, and made getting going seamless. Once in class starting over was a nervous day, I met a class mate, who was taking the exact same course. She and I ended up being partners for the next year and now consider her a good friend. All the staff were great, specially as I we were starting a pandemic, and how do we learn safely. The College made it so we all were safe as possible and if having to pick up books allowed us to do a group pick up, to help make it contactless as possible I would defiantly recommend this campus to any one, they are so good to work with and make the hardest decision as a single parent seem easy Thank you Nanaimo.

I obtained an honours diploma through sprott shaw for medical office administration and health unit clerk. Through my courses my instructors went above and beyond with delivering the education in the most suitable way to each student. The personal support is something to be valued as an adult learner and I could not have been more supported through my year. Thank you to all the instructors and staff!

Would not recommend them for taking individual courses. Not only was I not given any information about the start of my course but was charged for a textbook that was NEVER used. During class was told that if I recommended a friend they would give me money but now told no because I only took one class.

I graduated from Sprott Shaw Nanaimo in 2016 from the Business Administration Management program. When I first thought about going back to school, I was extremely nervous and really had no idea what I wanted to do. The Admissions Advisor was very patient and allowed me to decide for myself what my best path should be. She was not pushy, despite the fact that I took a long time to really decide what to do. The experience there was wonderful. Smaller classes, and more importantly, learning content one step at a time was very conducive to my learning style. It gave me the opportunity to not only work while not in class, but still put my best work forward. I strongly recommend this campus to anyone looking to begin a new career, as the staff were very helpful every step of the way.

It was a mind opening, heart warming, learning about others and most importantly learning about myself kind of experience. I started in February, and in such a short time and I have grown as a person and focused not just about my career but about life as a whole. What I've gain at Sprottshaw is priceless. The admissions advisor was amaizing. She pointed to all the right places I needed to go to for funding. The staff there is trully helpful and wants you to succeed and they are rooting for you and very welcoming. Go see them, they'll roll out the red carpet for you. At least that's how I feel they've treated me.

My experience and time at Sprott-Shaw was nothing less than wonderful!!! From the staff, to the student atmosphere, I loved the small class sizes, I loved the efficiency, and I loved learning. Over the moon grateful to my incredible teachers and all of the dedicated staff at the Nanaimo location of Sprott Shaw College. I had not been in school for decades and had a one-shot funding opportunity to take advantage of to change the trajectory of my life. The pressure was on to pick the right school for me and I have no doubt that I chose the right place. All sorts of fear and discomfort arises when you are doing something new and going through challenge and change. I felt supported and encouraged and enjoyed my Medical Office Administration course. I continue to keep in touch, find resources and stay connected to my teachers and the staff. I give a lot of credit to my course and my teachers for my current success and improved reality. I loved it there so much. I felt like I was going home instead of going to learn. It was a family. I was able to be free to be me with out any kind of judgement. The instructors made learning fun as well as educational. I do wish that they offered more variety of courses, but for the size of school, they offer lots to their students. I wish I could just stay in school with them for the rest of my life.

Amazing campus! Going back to school was a big step and wasn’t sure how I would do after graduating high school in 1985, but received nothing but encouragement, positive atmosphere and support I needed to not only succeed in my program but excel beyond my expectations.

I had a horrible experience and I am not recommending this college to anyone especially the Nanaimo campus. Do not go to Sprott shaw Nanaimo Campus if you have mental health or learning challenges as they are absolutely not equipped to handle them at all they will say they are and make all these promises when your in the admission process and then never follow them at least that is what my experience was like.

I had a wonderful experience at Sprott Shaw Nanaimo! The staff are all so kind courteous and genuinely care for the students. I have a diagnosed mental health condition and the amount of support they gave me when I required a little extra was amazing. Even after I finished my program up until today the staff still. reach out and to check in! I would highly recommend going in and talking to them if your thinking about going back to school it will be worth it!!

I am a mature student. I have been very impressed with the entire staff here. The instructors in the HCA program are professional and experienced in their field. Sprott Shaw not only offers you an opportunity to train for a new career, they also assist you in preparing for you job search.

When I started at Sprott Shaw we entered the pandemic 3 months later. Classes still continued as normal just over web-ex. Sprott Shaw handle the transition very well for us to continue with our education. My experience over the past year has been great. Currently on week 5 of study, of a 47 week program. Started at sprott shaw for the small class sizes, got a small classroom with 15 students in it and it is crowded. The equipment is severely dated the laptops must be from 2002 because i picked up a used laptop recently for 100$ that runs twice as fast and only 30% of the computers actually print.Printer is so backed up it takes about 20 minutes for your work to print...if it prints. We were told we are unable to print anymore until they bring in a new printing system to regulate students printing. Our class goes from 8-1 but we need to vacate the classroom 10 minutes early because the room is used for a different course at exactly 1 pm. Was very interested in sprott shaw for the small classes and convenience of starting right away. You would think with a classroom of 15 students at 16000 a student the equipment would work and they would pay for the paper. If you are looking for a decent education with no hassles go somewhere else!

Every staff member and teacher at the college is invested in you doing well and excelling in your given program. They go above and beyond to make sure you have the tools you need to learn to the best of your ability. They have always been friendly, ready to answer any questions you may have and accomodating. They have a true passion for what they do. I very much enjoyed my time with the Nanaimo Campus and the interactions I have had with everyone there. I would not only reccomend this campus but I see myself returning in the future as my career advances and requires further training.

I attended this school for two weeks and left after learning there was minimal and poor instruction from the teachers. The school kept $9000.00 for this time and was given the opportunity to make this situation right - they chose not to. Be warned and be cautious :(

I have just started the Business/Bookkeeping course and so far I couldn't be happier with my choice in campuses. Even with covid they are organized and set up in a such a user friendly way. The course is affordable and scheduled in a logical manner thus far. They work closely with WorkBC to get people educated and back into the working world in high demand industries - this is one of the key reasons I choose Sprott Shaw to further my education. The instruction so far has been top notch. The instructor is professional, patient and fun/entertaining. He is able to hold his classes attention and seamlessly explain the curriculum via a zoom type method that is understood by students of all learning stages. If you are someone that is just entering the working world or has had a life shift and want to learn something new I encourage you to reach out to the Recruitment staff at Sprott Shaw Nanaimo and discuss.

Choosing Sprott Shaw was the best decision I’ve ever made! The instructors are wonderful, the atmosphere is fun, and the courses are challenging. Class sizes are small, which means you get to spend more time ensuring that everyone understands the material. I was one month into my 16 week program when I decided to take on another course - I loved being there that much! I found a job in my field before I had even graduated. I cannot recommend this school enough!
