I was initially a little skeptical of this place because I had never heard of it and their prices were lower than the competitors. Then there was a glitch with the online registration (which they have since fixed). So I wasn't sure what I was in for. I should preface this by saying that I am an RN and I have done CPR courses annually for 11 years. First of all, the class was 1815-2200, which was an awesome time to run the class. Second of all, the instructor, Gary, was an experienced Paramedic who has been teaching these classes for longer than I have been alive. He was so full of energy and hilarious, but to the point. His teaching style is flawless. There was music and laughter and lots of hands-on. Gary provided a ton of real-life scenarios and warnings, but ultimately made the whole process of CPR/AED seem simple and really straightforward. Finally, I walked away from this course more confident than any other in my history of CPR courses to date. After the 4 hour course, I left and realized that not once had I checked my watch, or looked at my phone for texts, or let my mind wander in that time period. That is a miracle. I am going to tell everyone I know to take their courses with these guys.

I was actually lucky enough to have both Kellie and Brandon as my instructors for my 2 day Standard First Aid and CPR-C course. They were both great! Both had great senses of humour yet were very professional in their teaching approach. Hands on work and real-life scenarios where we didn't have to feel bad if we made a mistake really helped the learning situations. I would definitely recommend Alert First-Aid Inc. to anyone needing this training and will come back in the future.

I very much enjoyed my experience with Alert First Aid. Not only was the information sent in the email prior to the course precise on what to expect during these times of Covid and protocols, but the class size was nice and small and we had room to stay a safe distance and were provided with masks, gloves and sanitizer. Gloves especially for when we did any hands on work. Very safe and responsible. Sabrinna was a super fun instructor too! For having to do a recertification course it felt like the information I was learning was new and exciting all over again. I would definitely recommend Alert First Aid to others and will look into it for myself for my next recertification. Thank you!

Just completed the 3 day wilderness first aid course and I can't say enough good things about it. Our instructor Brandon did an amazing job keeping the content interesting and his passion for his job shows. Would recommend this course to anyone who spends time outdoors. I used alert first aid 3 years ago to get certified for potential jobs, now it is time to recertify and I decided to use them again as my first experience was positive. I had an emergency the day before my recertification and had to call and rebook on short noticed. The person I spoke with was thoughtful,compassionate and did not make me feel bad.

I just completed the Standard First Aid and CPR course of the weekend. Our instructor, Gary, did an outstanding job presenting the material in way that was both easy to grasp and surprisingly easy to remember. I definitely walked out of the course confident that I could use these new skills in an emergency situation. And the fact that he was hilarious was a bonus. If you need First Aid training, then this is the place for you!

Went in knowing it was a more boring / slower class. First aid is important so it can be very dry. The man teaching the class, Branden (Brandon maybe?), wasn't only super professional and informative he was also massively fun. He kept me focused, learning and laughing the entire time. Honestly would HIGHLY recommend this company to anybody trying to get first aid. The experience was amazing! Plus good boy doggo is a big bonus. Cannot state this enough, it was very fun!!! Go to these guys!!

I've renewed my first aid with many companies but this was the only time I ever truly enjoyed it. Through a more hands on and question friendly environment I was able to learn far more than I ever have before. Amber was amazing and knowledgeable on every question asked by anyone during the entire class.

This is the second time I used First alert . The first time was two years ago with Gary which was a great hands on experience , he knows the course and has alot of info . The second time was today for recertification and we had an instructor named Josh . Again very hands on and very knowledgeable . This is not a book course , yes you have homework on the two day course out of a manual but it is really a hands on senerio course . I've learned way more through these two courses than I ever did anywhere else in similar courses. Both instructors are very animated , ( which makes the course fun ) thourough and patient. A very great experience over all . I would not hesitate to take this courses again when needed . Trevor Olson

I presumed that a first aid course would be a bit tedious but thankfully I was wrong. A few weekends ago I took part in the Level C-CPR and First Aid course with Gary as the instructor, and I had a great time. Alert First Aid provided coffee, tea, granola bars, and even a lunch break making it a very comfortable learning environment. (It wasn't a dark and dingy class). Gary had us smiling and participating the whole time he was teaching and I do feel knowledgeable in the course material now if an emergency was ever to present itself. I have more confidence since being certified and if I had known that a first aid course would be so stress free, I would have done it years ago. Thanks!

It was a refresher course for me and I must say that out of every first-aid class i have ever done, Garys was my absolute favourite. He kept us engaged and entertained the entire time from beginning to end. The only concerning thing was the amount of of people packed into the small classroom, a email was sent saying the classes were running at reduced capacity but the class had more people this time than it did 4 years ago.Social distancing was extremely difficult to maintain during the hands on practical activities.

I just finished my course today and was extremely pleased with my decision to go with Alert First-Aid. Great enthusiasm, high energy, witty sense of humour, extensive knowledge base and experience really shone through and helped me remember many things and learn lots of updated material. I would highly recommend Alert First-Aid and Gary Bowen as a first stop to check out for First Aid coursing. Easily 5 star rating and I would have given more if Google allowed it.

I just did the CPR/AED re-certification course for Health Care Provider at the Nanaimo location. In the Thirty plus years I have been taking First Aid courses...this one was by far the most informative and entertaining one I have ever taken. My instructor Gary B had a way of getting information across in an informative and entertaining way that kept us alert and eager for more. His energy is infectious and he tells funny anecdotes and uses clever memory aids that help you learn and remember! He is serious when he needs to be with just the right amount of cheesy humor to make it a blast. When I re-certify, I certainly hope I get Gary again.

Great course. I did the blended standard first aid and cpr. The online portion was easy to go through at home before doing the in class portion. Due to the Corona protocols we only used the dumbies with masks and gloves and they made it easy to properly distance.
