St. Jude’s Academy has a very welcoming environment and a diverse community of students. The year that I spent at St. Jude's Academy is unforgettable. During that year, I found caring and supportive teachers, friendships that will last a lifetime, academic excellence, and unforgettable memories. It has been 3 years since graduating from St Jude’s Academy and I’m still in great touch with my supportive teachers.

Now, I was a student at St.Judes for 10 years. I have so many wonderful memories there. I am now currently going to a public school and I can honestly say that I am only successful now because of St.Judes. The teachers care so much about the students and they give them all the support they need, and then some. The teachers build relationships with the students like no others. They encourage, support, and aid the students to seek what might lie in their future. I am reading these reviews about how the staff is unfair and i completely disagree. That school has given me so much and I believe that it is really unfair for students who have had one bad experience to take it out on the teachers and staff who have been nothing less than amazing! I truly believe that if you want your child to succeed in life and have a strong education, you should send them to St.Judes. They will most definitely enjoy it. Whenever I had a disagreement with another student or if I just needed to talk, the staff would always be there to help me sort through whatever needed sorting. The education is amazing and has given me a jump start in learning at the school that I am currently at. I as a student have connected with many younger students. St.Judes has a family environment and they are always excited to bring in new members of the family. I am a more confident, open minded, caring, and knowledgable person because of what St.Judes did for me. I will forever be grateful and I will always consider St.Judes my second home.

My son is borderline ADHD n this school has save my sanity n helped my son so much. I can't express how wonderful n dedicated the staff are. Every teacher knows each n every student. Class rooms are no bigger than 18 students. Amazing school. Highly recommend it.

My son has been attending SJA for 9 years and my daughter 7 years. SJA is not just a school but a family. The level of education is beyond what I could have asked for. Both my children love SJA and can't wait to go to school everyday!

I cannot begin to describe my experience at St. Jude's Academy. We have been there for about 9/10 years from when the school first started in a small house on 10th line. EXCELLENT school. They treat you like family and most importantly, they make sure your children get the best educational experience they need to prepare them for their future. I HIGHLY recommend St Jude's Academy to anyone who is considering it for their children.

i have been at this school for about 9 almost 10 years and every year has has put a smile on my face. Some of the really good teachers are Ms. Haag, Mr. Oliver, Ms. hayward, and Mr. ore. this school teaches amazing methods which make hard concepts seem easy and the kids hear are very nice and their no bullying what so ever. In this school your kids should feel they can express themselves and live a good social life. The only downside is money but the friendships and good teachers are free Andreas.S

Awesome school, been there for years and enjoy it.

This school is good. Sometimes we have a lot of homework and it can get stressful. To succeed you need to put in hard work. I love playing soccer every day on the turf field during break and after school.

St. Judes Academy, is a very diverse school. There are so many different religions and cultures, with all the international students everyones feels at home and they feel like they belong. The teachers are very nice and always trying their best to help students as much as possible to they can achieve the best. Grades 11's and 12's are not IB but we are taught at the IB level. From grade 9 they start to prepare students for university. The courses are picked out so that we can have as many options as we want. Speaking from experience, the schools academic is so good and the teachers are so kind. They try their best to come up with after school circulars for all grades. High schoolers really enjoy, Mock Trial, and DECA. Now we are excited for, Volleyball, IB club, and school news paper. St. Judes sets a very good, happy, welcoming atmosphere.

I remember stepping foot into this school with hope, that this school would be the one for me, that I would graduate here, but the 2 years I spent here proved otherwise. First of all, the homework they give is either non existent or piled on, making it hard to balance. One teacher even told us that we shouldn't have any life outside of school. The teacher turn over is also ridiculous, this year alone, over half of my teachers were new, and 2 were replaced DURING THE YEAR, with no explanation whatsoever. One of my teachers were so awful that my family had to file a complaint (I won't go into too much detail) but when a friend also filed a complaint, the vice principal told her that NO ONE had ever complained. There is also a huge bias on students who have been there longer, I remember some students who had been there since Jk or Sk could hand in assignments 3 months late and not get punished in anyway, whereas students who hadn't been there as long (such as me) were given punishments for stuff that wasn't that bad. I had a terrible experience with my classmates there and I'm not saying it's the school's problem, but it got to the point where they were bullying me in my class and the teachers just LAUGHED. To summarise my review, if you want to go to a school that you want to stay at, I suggest taking your business somewhere else. This school does have a few bright spots, like a few good teachers, such as Mr Oliver and Ms Haag, and some clubs such as rock band, but the bright spots are very few.

I don't like it. I personally think that the people who run the school run it unfairly, and steal away basic rights of passage from the students. They also assign too much of a work load for the students. Now, this is a trait of an I.B. school, but honestly, I just don't agree with any of it. I think that they should not assign that much homework. The school system of Finland assigns no homework, and yet they outperform any other school in the world. If less can be better, I think that more can be worse. Overall, not a preference of mine. I would not send your kid their without their consent. It could work, but your kid may struggle under the immense workload and fail. Overall, worth a two-and-a-half star.

This school has taught me so much i used to go there and I can honestly say that it has morphed me into a great person. It's I.B curriculum is great and important and engages everyone. I suggest anyone considering going there should go immediately :)

What a nice IB School ,people are nice , teacher are nice, but school resources are not directly proportional to tuition fees.

LivingHell99

This school has some problems here as a student been in this school. This school gives too much homework. I mean, what kind of school doesnt give homework but loads of work. We just sit and teacher tell us what to do and thats pretty much it. There are some teachings, but mostly i think we are "controled" by teachers. We barely have any free things to do with our learnings. I get that this is an IB school, but school i was taking in gr.8 was also IB school, yet barely got any homework. My school learnings were based on time managents and preparing us for high schools. As Destructive Cow said 'Exams in grade.7' and school replied preparing for high school while my school didn't gave us any exams. Also too many fundraisers. This school does Hell lot of a fundraisers so i thought they just want.money for themselves. Which is not-fun-draiser. Also lack of resources and blaming on us. This school always say we need labtops when we can use our phones. But a single sight of phones, they will take it away from us. Basically thy are preparing us for high school and without a labtops you can't? Also lack of warnings. This happened to my friends and me. My friend was just playing on hs labtop in the early morning because he always does that. And teacher just came and took his labtop away. And for me i was playing Team fortress 2 on my labtop and teacher told me to shut it because its not school appropriate. Why didnt you tell me that earlier? So, in one sentence to summarize: This school sucks.

We have been a St. Jude’s Academy family for about four years now. We have enjoyed its highly academic program, marrying its many extra- curricular activities - , ranging from piano and dance to karate and soccer to coding and robotics, naming only a few; it is a move toward encouraging the wholistic child to develop and in turn, become a valuable and productive adult in society. Also, I commend them on the field trips they select for the students since they prove interesting, echo their learning (unit of inquiry) in the classroom and gives them a range of experiences to learn skills they may not have usually had an opportunity to explore. The International Bauculerate system, which is offered from JK - 12 at St. Jude’s, is one we sought after when we first moved to Ontario, having seen our own child blossom in this unique environment; it is an excellent syllabus which incorporates their learning with the hands on experience that makes their education real to them. In addition, the school has grown tremendously in the last few years but there remains smaller class sizes in order that we have the advantage of that intimate and valuable learning experience, fostering the development and encouragement of each child toward success. As well, every year, the school undergoes some improvement which the students, (this year TVs were put in to each classroom to allow for students to watch videos etc that pertain to their specific topic of learning while also appealing to the multiple intelligence learners). St. Jude’s is one of the few elementary schools which still encourages cursive writing, very important for us since by our own research, it is one of the few activities that fires all aspects of the brain. Advice to a new parent here? Get involved if you can!!!...there is always some activity for the students. All in all, St. Jude’s gear their students towards diversity of experience, embracing new ideas and technology as it remains emblematic of the IB system, enhancing leadership attributes among its students!

High teacher turn over, mistakes in teaching, poor decision making by leaders. Positives - a few good teachers, nice families.

Extremely happy with the school. My children have gained lot of self confidence by joining this school. Staff is very supportive and accommodating.Tuition fee is affordable and there are no hidden charges. The have their own bus service, which is even more comfortable and secure for our children. If you are looking for good private school.. St. Jude Academy is your answer!!!

My son's time at St Jude's Academy has been a happy and positive experience. Notably, the communication between parent, teacher and student is excellent and has contributed to his success. He genuinely looks forward to going to school everyday, and the strong community spirit is a good fit. He is fortunate to have received continuous support from teachers who will challenge his strengths as well as nurture his weaknesses. Through the IB curriculum, special effort and care has been taken to cater to his ability and needs, leaving little time for him to get bored, while feeding his natural curiosity. St Jude's also encourages well rounded students. While my son is academic, he particularly enjoys getting involved with the annual Arts Night which I feel has increased his self confidence. I am excited to watch his growth continue in the new school year!

We would like to express our gratitude for the support, guidance, assistance and much more that St. Jude's Academy has done for our son Shaheer Ali. He applied in 7-different programs in 5-universities and he has got acceptance from all with scholarships. Three years back when we moved to Canada, it was very critical decision to choose the educational institution for our kids but we are glad that we chose St. Jude’s Academy. Team SJA is doing much more than they should and assigned to do. We highly appreciate that and we are grateful for everything. Our children have a second trusted home “St. Jude’s Academy” and that’s why we feel, we must inform everyone of our heartfelt gratitude and respect for the faculty.

The SJA has been a blast. The welcoming environment, coupled with the many field trips and extra-curricular activities really helps in pulling the students closer and creating long-distance friendships and extreme nostalgia. This school is excellent in academics, as students are taught the required study materials and are also taught how to use it in real life. With that, the school provides excellent facilities such a dome, an entire gym facility and a science lab. Most of the teachers here are friendly and easy, and are very supportive and helpful. Sadly, you can't properly develop a educational relationship with them as many teachers come and go every year. There isn't much homework given here, but the many formatives, summatives and the exams can make time very stressful.

For all those who are reading, my child attended St. Jude's Academy for past few years. Since past week I am getting unreasonable calls and emails from school to force send my child to school in person or virtual and pay in full academic year fees. This is really disturbing. I had informed school this year 5 months in advance in advance that my child will NOT be attending next year school due to health reasons. But now I am getting emails and phone calls in October mentioning they had reserved a spot for my child and I HAVE to pay in full for the services which I have not rendered at all. I am actually confused. I was never contacted about school re-opening, class teacher assignment for my child, new mode of delivery of education etc. How were they holding spot for my child? Since beginning there was no open communication from school during Covid-19 situation to parents unless parents were asking questions. 100 parents joined hands together and sent a formal "letter of concern" including request for pro-rated childcare refund as many other private schools provided tuition fees discounts but SJA did not even consider it instead the plan is to charge full fees for Before-after care with year long commitment for $4000. When I did bit of a research, I learnt that most of the other private schools provided options to parents (opting out/ online / partial online, etc.) during difficult times and worked with parents to come up with reasonable solutions. St. Jude's turned a blind eye to parents questions and concerns. It has been a nightmare dealing with the school. As a parent you would want to invest energy on your kids education not to deal with management all the time.. This is an educational institute where parents like me would want their child to attend and excel in life, but the way SJA dealing and putting illegal demands to innocent parents, I feel cheated and heartbroken that my child attended this school. And I know many other unhappy parents who pulled out their kids from school this year sharing similar stories.. I would definitely recommend you all to do your research and choose wisely before you enroll to SJA. You would want an institution with education as a focal point, NOT MONEY!! I don't wish anyone to be in a situation like I am facing currently.

The school was great 4years back, now it doesn’t care about anything but making more money. Teachers becomes lower profile, have many hats, and rewarded badly. More students capacity with same number of teachers. I moved my kids, and they are doing much better now. By the way if you moved during the year, they won’t refund any.

Safety, trust, respect, fairness, high expectations, a welcoming environment—these elements add up to a positive school climate and St Jude’s Academy has exhibited all these elements for us and we love the school. Not only have my son received the love and care he needed outside the home environment, but the program is great. The IB curriculum St Jude’s Academy offers is amazing. The curriculum challenges my son and also provides lots of opportunities to show his abilities. They have wide range of activities for the children and they also get the chance to experience things outside of the school. As a parent I have found the staff, particularly teachers very friendly and approachable. Teachers are resourceful and creative in finding the most amazing ways to develop our children’s curiosity and they really make learning a fun activity. I have visited many schools in the area and I have yet to see the quality of teachers like the ones in St Jude’s Academy and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Thank you St Jude’s Academy for being so amazing!

I could go on and on about the amazing things, teachers, and support staff at St. Judes but what I love most about the school is that they are building us up to be global citizens and have a positive impact in the world. I also love that the people at St. Judes truly care for one another.

Jennifer Publicover

I deeply regret sending my children to SJA. Its unique selling point is the IB Programme. The average tenure of the teachers is short and the quality ranges widely. Some of the teachers are outstanding like Mrs. Haag, Mr. Oliver and Mr. Orr but others, particularly in the middle school, are uninspiring and poor communicators. Despite their partnership with Oakwood Academy, there is no meaningful student support services available which I have since discovered is standard at private schools in this area. The community outreach to balance out privilege is limited. Compared to the previous school my children attended, there appeared to be a reluctance to constantly reinforce an environment of kindness and respect particularly when it involved children who had been at the school for a long time. In sum, if you are looking for an education beyond credentials where your child will be positively developed as a whole person there are better options.

For various reasons, St Jude's was a disappointment and did not meet our standards or expectations of a private school. Speak to various parents (not just references provided) to help you determine if St Jude's is right for your family based on what you value most in a school.
