We love Harbourview Montessori. Both of our children started at three and it has been an all-around wonderful experience. The teachers and administrators are incredibly thoughtful in all that they do and we know that even from preschool age our children have been getting a peace-centered, intentional, open, curiosity-provoking education. Everything about this school feels different than traditional schools in the very best way - you can tell that all of the staff always see the inherent goodness and worth in all of the children.

My son is eight years old and in his first year at Harbourview Montessori. Our son has never been happier in school. Like many children within our community the local public schooling was failing to provide adequate education, security and additional help when needed. With the environment, teaching staff, professionalism and overall positive life style at Harbourview Montessori our son is finally receiving the education he deserves. Our son started Harbourview Montessori School in grade four (three years ago) and it has been a wonderful fit for him and our family. I had lots of questions as I didn't understand the teaching model, but once we met with the teachers and saw the students in action, I knew for sure that we would take the leap. So happy we did! The pace, the depth of learning materials and the small class size helped our son to be a person who dives into subjects that spark his interest on his own (outside of school), and also to be a productive community member due to the numerous school activities meeting interesting people, pets and places. Education doesn't HAVE to be like forcing a circle into a square...it can fit just right and when you see a child looking comfortable with their environment, achievements and challenges it's heartwarming to be a part of.

I have been working at Harbourview Montessori School for 13 years now. I still call it my dream job. The atmosphere is friendly and calm. The classrooms have large windows for natural light and are thoughtfully arranged. When you walk into the school there is pleasant music and aromas to greet you. There are always smiling faces in the halls. The children feel a sense of belonging when they enter too. Each child is greeted by name probably multiple times by the time they reach their class. It is a safe and enriching environment for children. My own children attended the school and it has helped mold them into the bright confident young women they are today. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work here.

Our daughter, 4, is in her second year at the Children's House at Montessori. We have had a consistently positive experience with the school, in many different ways. Her teachers, after-school care teacher, and all staff are fun, warm, validating, and professional (and so much more!). The school environment is peaceful and calm, and so conducive to learning. It is child-centered and she is empowered to make choices about the work she will do each day. At the same time, there is good structure. We know that this environment has contributed to her great skill development (in daily activities and academic skills) and her emotional and social development. Thank-you, to everyone at Harbourview Montessori, for this incredible experience. We will always be grateful.

This is the first year that we have enrolled one of our sons at Harbourview Montessori. He would have been a grade five student this year in public school, but there was much difficulty dealing with the school district due to school closures, curriculum, and general day-to-day communication. We needed to look for another option for his education. We visited the school in the Spring a number of times - meeting with the Principal, teachers, and office staff. Our son participated in the classroom setting numerous times so that we could all understand how the Montessori model works. We were welcomed with open arms (literally). Were we skeptical at first of this system? Sure. But that's because we weren't used to this new model of education. Were we pleasantly surprised how this was the perfect fit for our child and how he learns? Absolutely! Our oldest son attends public school and it is the appropriate learning environment for him. Montessori is the perfect learning environment for our youngest and we all couldn't be HAPPIER that he is EXCITED to learn. He is ENGAGED in experiencing new things. He is more RESPONSIBLE for his actions. He is more CARING and CONSIDERATE of others. He LOVES going to school in the morning. All of these attributes are true testaments to what Harbourview Montessori has to offer.

The environment is bright and inviting and outdoor experiences are a vital part of the curriculum. The teachers and staff are skilled, nurturing and engaged resulting in a learning experience that is authentic to each child, allowing them to thrive and shine.
