This school is beautiful, the community is warming and supportive, the students learn life skills and all the BC curriculum through arts, experienceing the environment, and being part of the community. Parents are participative and the faculty does everything with love and care. Highly recommend a visit to know the method and the classrooms.

My 5-year-old was reluctant to go to kindergarten but now loves it and is thriving, thanks to caring, observant, skilled teachers, and a school curriculum that nurtures children's natural passion for learning. I love this school. I have a lot of experience in education (as a teacher and more) so my expectations are pretty high. Nonetheless, I have been so pleased by the teaching and the environment at Lakeside. The school campus is absolutely adorable, with large trees, a garden and hand-made wooden playground equipment. Students here are joyful: they sing songs, they spend a lot of time in nature, they work with their hands, they tell stories. The Waldorf method is unconventional in that they don't push academic skills in a conventional way, but students learn them through engaging with the world. Parents are very involved and committed to the school. If you're looking for a school where students sit in rows, complete worksheets, and engage in extensive test-prep, this isn't your school. But if you are focused on your child's holistic development - from social and emotional to intellectual and moral - this is a great school, especially for younger children. The school is small and the administration is flexible and accommodating. My children have loved being here. Highly recommend.

I went to this school when I was a child, from Preschool to Grade 10. As a child I recognized and valued the high quality of the education I was receiving. Now, as a parent with three children in the school I am grateful that I am able to give them same wonderful opportunity that I received.To this day, I remember the experience of learning and recognizing that I can assimilate new information into new skills.

Our most precious keepsakes come from the last 8 years spent at this school. We have baskets full of knitted animals. Piles of water color paintings, practical wood carvings, wax models, sewn aprons, knit toques and so much more. Students create their workbooks from the lessons and stories told - they are a form of art in themselves. The care and detail that goes into the learning process is inspiring. French and German are taught early on through song and is developed over the years. The materials of yarn, beeswax, the workbooks, the paper, the crayons and paints are aesthetically selected, natural in function and appreciated by the children. As the years mature cooking class becomes more elaborate - along with the recipe requests. Festivals, picnics and food are a big deal here! This school appeals to all the senses right down to the aroma of fresh baked bread - our personal favourite activity. The classrooms are thoughtfully designed and the school grounds invite countless hours of imagination and play. The education received here built a solid foundation for our child to transition (this year) into the higher grades. He stands out for his creativity, work ethic, kindness and confidence. We are so grateful for the teachers and community at Lakeside School.

She is now in the fifth grade and really enjoying all the activities and studies, where she learns about the traditions and history of almost all the peoples on the planet including exposure to their languages! The Faculty and students care and respect each other and demonstrate this daily as a family. Students learn in a warm, supportive, creative environment.
