I have had a similar experience with my child, who spent 2 years at this school. I heard from other 4 families who had run into the same problem: if you don't donate, they don't respect you, don't look at you, and try to get rid of you. Oh and I can see that all the five stars are either students that donate a lot or faculty. And academics are not important at this school. It's all about money.

I rate Aberdeen Hall a whopping 5 stars, because the community and environment is encouraging, kind, and supportive. I am a current and new student, and I have been welcomed into the community and treated with respect. The teachers are engaging and supportive, and will do their best to make sure every student has complete understanding. The facility is well designed, has a great view at lunch, and is overlooking rolling hills and sometimes even hot air balloons! Any event that is put on either during school or after school has great management, is well put together, and overall super fun. The sports teams are great, and they go on trips to games every so often. I find the P.E. class to be better than any other physical education I have attended, and has many different units on a ton of sports. The electives that I have been to are a very good use of time, and makes your day even more fun and exciting! The clubs at Aberdeen are also super cool, and every one that I have attended so far is awesome! There is a homeroom class in the morning and at the end of the day, so you get to connect with your Advisory teacher and get organized for during school and after school. Overall, Aberdeen Hall is an amazing school that suites my needs, and I already feel like a part of the super supportive community.

My daughter has been attending Aberdeen Hall for 2, going on 3 years now. I'm a single parent and with enough challenges in my day to day life, they have always been kind and accommodating to me and my daughter's needs. She loves going to this school and she's always excited about going to school in the morning. Even though I'm currently a low income parent, I've noticed they give equal treatment to my daughter. I don't believe what the other reviewers are saying since I'm not witnessing it first hand at all. She is excelling in her classes and the clubs that she has joined. The sacrifice for paying for education goes a long way, but you as the parent need to ensure you are getting what you paid for. That's on you.

As an international student, I really appreciate every teacher and student at Aberdeen Hall. The learning experience here is amazing. The class atmosphere is always embracing. Teachers help students to engage in lessons. The courses here covers a wide range of selections and all teachers assist students to be well-prepared for a bright future.

We love Aberdeen Hall. I'm motivated to write because I notice some comments on here that are really contrary to our experience so I want to provide an alternate point of view. My child has been here for 3 years now and the academic and social experience has been exceptional. The teachers and staff are really great at their jobs, we have continually been impressed. The music, French, and athletics programming are advanced compared to other schools in Kelowna. My child learned violin this year and loves it! And the after school care program is a necessity for working families. There have been comments about the poor school leadership or favoritism to families who donate. We have never donated to the school, we are a couple who works full time and don't provide additional funds to the school and have not experienced any sort of issues related to that. There is not a culture of families who donate get special treatment, I would be hard pressed to tell you who donates anything to the school, well, besides those people that want their names on buildings and playgrounds :) The Junior School has exceptional leadership and I feel that even the leadership knows my child really well and is an advocate for wellbeing.

We feel very fortunate to belong to this amazing school community. The academics, music, enrichment and athletics programming are outstanding. All faculty and staff go above and beyond for each and every student. Aberdeen Hall is a very welcoming and positive environment and we highly recommend this school.

My daughter will be finishing her first year at Aberdeen and we are very happy with her decision. The staff and management have been very accommodating and informative especially during COVID. The teachers are amazing and take pride in their work and it shows! My daughter loves attending and I definitely believe Aberdeen will help her achieve a bright future.

School and faculty are over rated, BIG TIME!. We had three children for one year and we couldn't wait for the end of the school year to pull them out. Staff and faculty exercise blunt and discriminatory preferential treatment to families who donate money to the school. This unfair treatment extends to the classroom. In an educational institution, there should be no difference between a family who donates and another who doesn't. BTW, I see at least one reviewer who gave 5 stars to the school is an employee of the school !!!

This school is garbage. There basketball team is also trash, as a 3'10 midget was their leading scorer.

Agree with many negative comments after 3 years experience as parents with this school. This school needs to review its leadership by an independent organization. This is an extremely money driven school and you might not get a real feedback about your child. Nice people working as teachers and staff but heavily influenced by the poor leadership. There are definitely potentials to get better in future, if they fix the poor leadership.

My son attended this school for 6.5 years. The teachers are excellent. The Head of School, and Board however, failed to follow the necessary policies and procedures designed to protect my son from a distressing and complicated situation that was no fault of his or mine. Yet we were wrongfully accused of something grossly divorced from reality - and denied procedural fairness. Parents would not allow their children to board a flight piloted by one who failed to follow safety policies and procedures. That is what I allowed to happen while my son attended this school - and I deeply regret that I blindly trusted their competence. The teachers are excellent but the administration thwarts their participation, as well as the Principals, in decisions that greatly impact your child. It is a closed hierarchical structure designed to prevent values of good governance. By design there is no Parents Advisory Council. So, if you are faced with a complex situation - whereby your child's basic rights are being denied - you are alone. But, it is true - as was our experience for 6.5 years - the curriculum and teachers are excellent. My son excelled and was extremely happy there. Had we not desperately required the intervention of a competent leader, the extent to which this schools administration is shamefully and woefully inept, would never have been known to me. If I had known that the administrative arm of this school lacked the integrity, education, and training necessary to protect children from harm, I never would have enrolled my son and put him in harms way. When I discovered a litany of irregularities and non-compliance issues, such as conflicts of interest and failure to disclose financial statements, the administration sacrificed the well-being of my son, and engaged in an outrageous smear campaign meant to discredit and dismiss me as credible. Abuse, harassment, and negative behaviour will not be stopped unless the condition that drives victims and bystanders into silence - a culture of fear that reporting misconduct will result in retaliation - is eliminated. What is going on at this school, is a matter of public interest, considering the millions of dollars in public funding it receives. This is Kelowna's version of the US College Admissions Scandal. If you are a person of conscience, if transparency and accountability is important to you, go into this school knowing that merely asking the tough questions, will get you and your child knocked and beaten down. This school leverages a carefully cultivated image of "prestige" - French for deceit. I am ashamed to admit that I ignored the plight of families before me. I was convinced the school I was so proud for my son to be part of could not possibly be plagued by such a crisis of accountability - so I bought into false narratives that the parents were the problem. Any family who suffered like mine has - I am sorry that I did not take the time to hear your story and advocate on your behalf. I let you down. I let my son down by not conducting due diligence on the credibility of this administration. Integrity trumps prestige. At 9 years-old, my son has what this administration does not - integrity. With integrity - the most valuable capital that is earned not bought - people trust you. I believe in due process, so I encourage citizens to ask questions, don't believe google reviews like mine blindly. Probe on your own. Demand answers that are credible. If you care about accountability, contact the Ministry of Education and advocate for an investigation. Request the disclosure of financial statements, in accordance with The BC Societies Act. If they refuse to disclose, don't accept their nonsensical excuses. It's a matter of public interest and you have a right to know. If they continue to refuse, look for them on CRA Website. Then ask, what is the motive to evade transparency. Call your MLA.

Aberdeen Hall is one of the most impressive schools I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Every detail is so well thought out, the setting is breathtaking, the atmosphere is alive with intellectual energy and it is immediately obvious that the students are being prepared for brilliant futures. The staff are all so kind and helpful, and the headmaster is an absolute pleasure to deal with!

I'd give them a zero for cashing my cheque before we'd confirmed we wanted to enroll if I could.

We had our children for three years there and learned that the school is run by incompetent, and in some cases not qualified people with titles but no substance underneath. The school 'overgrew' the current management abilities. New head of this school and new principals are needed with actual background, experience and expertise. There is handful of good teachers there but since they have their kids in the school as they receive a discount, they are afraid to speak up, they have no voice. School mgmt has no idea how to properly deal with bullying at this school despite having policies. Many kids were pulled by parents from this school due to bullying. Supervision at recesses is lacking. Fraser Institute ranking of this school is boosted by international students which this school is extremely actively recruiting especially in China. Music program is very poor quality. School takes credit for many kids music skills who actually learn in outside programs such as Kelowna Community Music school etc. As others stated, it is overrated school with very deceiving façade which unfortunately we got caught in for a bit as probably others will as well until they realize that the quality is simply not there and kids education is not a priority despite what they present.

Both our daughters have attended Aberdeen Hall (one graduated last year and one is enrolled in Gr 11) we love the sense of community, amazing teachers and student support along with the smaller class sizes. The guidance for post secondary education is excellent. We are fortunate to have a school like Aberdeen Hall in our community.
