The views of this statement are from the eyes of a potential student:
This University's Pre-MBA program experience has been one of the WORST experiences I have ever encountered through my long education process. I have attended numerous Universities in Canada and currently one in the USA as well. When I applied to the MBA program, I had to do the 3 Pre-MBA courses at my own pace. I completed the Economics with good feedback from the professor. When I did the Business Communications course with Erin Bowlen, it was the most horrible experience I have had. I had completed an editing assignment, with corrections shown through word, only for her to mark them "not done" when word showed they were done. I communicated this to her, with no re-evaluation or caring. I had to appeal my grade since I was 2-3 marks low on getting a B-. If the editing assignment was marked properly I would have got the B-. No where in the University policy does it show you need a "B" or a "B-".
After appealing my grade it took them 1 month according to the policy for them to ask me to re-do my paper on Business Communication in my field at work. I was given under a week to complete this, when this could have been done a month ago. I asked for someone else to review my 2 assignments and they would not do it.
I would not recommend this University to anyone. If you have to do the Business Communication Pre-MBA course, make sure you pay extra money out of your pocket to hire someone to proof read your work so Erin Bowlen does not fail you. In my personal opinion, I do not believe she is qualified to teach a Communication course, if she can not listen to students when they are trying to justify what they did right. In my eyes she tries to fail students purposely so she can make a name for herself so she can get an actual credit course teaching assignment.
After fighting for a pass on a pre-mba course so I can continue in my education, and let the marks on the first 2 courses decide if I should be there (since it is my money I am wasting) I have wasted my time. I got accepted into 2 other Universities for my MBA and they had no issues with my work.
