Excellent school. Phenomenal teachers better than private schools. Broad range of programs for all learning styles. Strong support for those with learning needs. Outstanding extracurricular offerings for all interests. Exceptionally caring administration. The school has worked very hard to manage their numbers and it shows!

the teachers and admins care more about disciplining behaviour, dress coding students, and westerns "reputation" than teaching. Theres only a few things that make this school tolerable.

It's a nice school with nice enough people. Some teachers aren't too impressive, but Western is a good learning environment.

If you get a good subject teacher you are lucky. Some lazy teachers, not teaching subject, but just providing worksheets and assignments and if some problem comes then the student is targeted for no no reason.

Great school with good standards for education and a large student body. Like most schools it isn't free from its fair share of controversies and delinquents but it's far less widespread. Western Canada High School offers both an IB and an Alberta Education curriculum. Trying out the harder IB courses in grade 10 if you have the smarts is a way to see if you'll acclimatise properly to the more difficult learning environments offered by IB. Remember that there is no shame in dropping. Some IB courses barely/do not compensate your grades for the expected mark drop many will encounter.

I really enjoy the school, and the people . Great overall school. The teachers are knowledgeable and demonstrate a high level of education. The only downside is the impractically small student parking lot, which hinders many people's commute times. Considering the population of the school it is unrealistic.

Great school I am a student at this school and I must say it is a good school nice staff and teachers. Its usually hard to learn where all your classes are because the school is so big but after a week or so you should know your way around and know alot of people so it's a great school:)

Highly disappointed as a parent at the lack of interest and caring of the students. Seems to be a common non caring environment with too many students for the admin of this school to handle . This school lets in any students , no need to be designated, it doesn’t matter .My review is solely based on lack of support from admin and teachers . Instead of helping students it’s more about the reputation of this school. Completely disappointed in this school , there’s nothing to be proud of here. You haven’t only let the parents down you’ve let your kids down . Shame

Overall, a good school with decent athletic programs and friendly staff and administration. However, courses are very exam heavy. There have been numerous occasions where my teacher did not answer my questions due to reasons of "you won't be tested on this."

My kid were top of their school in math but now are almost failing, plus the math teachers for IB do not teach at the same level or pace. She had to switch classes due to a schedule change, and there was a complete shift on the difficulty. The current teacher she has the tests are comparable to throwing a kid into the olympics then hoping they had any pervious history with contests. She has no issue completing any homework or assignments. I've caught her many times before studying late at night for the test only to come home confused as most of what she's been told to study. Was not at all on the test, she came from America where the education isn't that good as compared here. However I've been tutoring her ahead of her curriculum all her life. Never have I seen her struggle this much in math this much. I only recommend the teachers teach a similar pace to make it fair for each student. Thank you
