Unfortunately, I have nothing positive to say about Sweetgrass.
Note: If your kiddo already speaks Spanish, that is not a school for you, is more for kid willing to learn a new language.
My daughter did Kindergarten in an awesome school, but we thought, as she was loosing the Spanish, it'll be a good idea the bilingual school.
Everything ran smooth when we went to visit the school and the kindergarten teacher was lovely, Marilyn from reception was also so nice with us, that we decide switch schools.
A unforeseen problem was the Spanish grade 1 has the main teacher in mat leave and the current teacher pregnant (nothing against that, but it affect the kids). The class had a teacher from september to november, a replacement dec-jan, and 2 new teachers from feb-jun .
The class was very energetic (I volunteer often) and the teachers really need support because at least 8 from 20 kids were hipper active, it takes 8+ min make 20 kids make a line to go to another room, etc...
Most kids were very rude at the teacher (including my daughter I have to say), never listen instructions, jumping all over, some of them insulting teachers and parents when volunteering.
I try to catch the principal attention but pass Marilyn was very difficult, she always diminishes my request and when finally was able to speak whit the principal, he was condescended and said the teachers were more than capable of manage the class.
Marilyn was the cherry on top, what a rude woman she is, she only smiles at you when you are looking for a new school or in principal presence, she always find a way to bark at you (because I don't know what else name the way she speaks at you).
I've talked with several parents and they either moved the kids (12 that year)or keep the kids in the school because they are so behind, they are afraid of they been unable to keep up in other schools.
I moved my daughter from there, we worker the whole summer with the Canadian program and she finally is doing ok, but still struggling. She was in the advanced group in kindergarten and Sweetgrass was a year were she only learns to be rude and bad behavior, but nothing academically.
I feel for the teachers, they don't have support and no wonder why they rotate so much.
