We offer you the information of real people who consume the services of Edmonton Islamic Academy (School) in Alberta (Canada).
Right now the firm receives a score of 3.3 stars over 5 and that rating has been based on 123 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings that it reaches is average, neither too high nor too low, and it is based on a very high number of opinions, so we may conclude that the evaluation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This School is classified in the category of Religious school.
Great
it's great to know that the staff here at eia love to gossip and slander their own students for their own personal benefit - especially in ramadan. thank you to one specific person who runs the office for running to parents, while twisting information, to ruin the reputation of that student and their families. this lady knows who she is. i believe if such toxic people were not working at eia, this school would be such a better place. thank you for ruining my year here at eia, and i look forward to seeing a change at this school.
Definitely an amazing school, the EIA is quality at it's finest!
i have been in this school for quite a long time but i dont like how kids are supposed to be forced to were hijabs because it incourages them NOT to were hijabs at all ESPACIALLY in gym! i would honestly move to killarney instead...
A great place to learn and grow knowledge of Islam. My grades really improved and my Arabic skills too. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
MS.MONA SAYS SHE IS GONNA DO SOMETHING IN SEPTEMBER, AND THEN DOES 1% OF IT BY JUNE LIKE BOY STICK TO YOUR WORD
no i read all the bad comments i thoght they were lying but they were right i had hope but they ended call 2 times and rude techears
This is a review coming from someone who goes to this school To be honest if your looking for a bright academic future for your child you should bring them to this school but if your child makes problems from time to time I recommend not sending them here this school makes problems about the smallest things and from time to time you'll start to figure out that there just protecting there reputation instead of figuring out the problem they see the problem and say everyone involved is suspended and all the staff there favour girls If you still want to take your children to that school because it has an Arabic program please listen to someone who tried the program the Arabic program is always the same every year and when you ask the teacher why is it the same she tells you well then do it if it's the same So now realistically speaking, the school only cares about straight a student
what the hell this is a school that kids are taught Islam and i think that`s amazing but charging the parents 5,000 dollars is not acceptable
over priced cafeteria
My only complaint is that most of the time in arabic class is that they don’t learn Arabic and have to do Arabic work that most kids don’t understand
GOOD JOB ON BEING A SCHOOL!
I love the school, good education. and good atmosphere for muslims. But if you guys want to actually make it better, you guys have to LOWER THE PRICES BY ALOT. Like once I was there and they said if you stay after 3:50, you will be fined. That's the WORST rule i've ever seen and since you guys already get 3000 a year from EACH person. Stop doing it. U guys are money hungry.
WE LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!! Both of our kids have attended the EIA since they were in playschool at age 4. As I write this in 2014 they are in grades 11 and 7. We can't say enough great things about the board of trustees, outstanding administration, excellent staff, parents and students. In particular, the long-term administration is second to none. The administration -- in particular Mrs. Jorf who is the School Superintendent -- is very professional and extremely caring about every student. The front office staff are all very knowledgeable, caring and always helpful. Every classroom in the school has state-of-the-art technology for the students and teachers and it is kept current. We feel blessed that our kids attend the EIA as they have made lifelong friends and we too, as parents, have made friends with all of the other parents, the Board, the administration and staff. The atmosphere at the EIA is like family. DEFINATELY THE BEST SCHOOL.
i dont know
very good admin Best princible Mr.A
The greatest school in the world... feels like a second home
The school offers Preschool to Grade 12 education within the Alberta Curriculum and ranks high in some provincial ratings. As an independent faith-based Islamic school, it is, like schools of its kind, funded approximately for 70% by public funds. The school is remarkably open-minded in its engagement with the world, while teaching Islamic virtues of an orthodox Sunni walk of life--a counter-cultural education with a focus on piety, to prepare students to resist the seductions of a secularizing Canadian society, forming 21st century Muslims with the capacity to contribute uniquely and meaningfully to, and live peacefully in, an increasingly intercultural Canadian society.
my daughter goes there :))))))) but she is a smart smart girl very smart indeed wait a minute wrong shcool how do you exit a window bing search
good school bro
Great atmosphere.
Amazing school!
i love this school, i'm in grade 9 and the only 2 things that bother me are the fact that our parents have to pay 4000 dollars for each child to enter the school and they need to hire better teachers
Bad school
horrible. a specific grade 8 teacher gives us work and then doesn't mark ANY of it, then quits. the teachers spread gossip about me and my mom. horrible school all around and i look forward to leaving next year.
The EIA hosted the provincial debate tournament today. It is a beautiful campus with so many students who sacrificed their Saturday to make the event run well. They accommodated my dietary restrictions amazingly well. It's a lovely building with kind staff, polite students and I wouldn't hesitate to attend, or hold an event there myself, in the future. Thank you Edmonton Islamic Academy for a wonderful event and all the best to you :)
Expensive school.Middle class can not afford.Do some thing about fees.
NON PROFESSIONAL PRINCIPAL Please hire professional principal I am involved in Edmonton Islamic Academy for few years. I am feeling bad to sharing the performance of principal Jawdah Jorf of Academy. If I describe her in one sentence She is ruling the staffs only this is her performance as a principal of the largest private school She need to go back to school and take some additional courses so she can learn how to deal teachers and how to involve students development socially and academically She feels a queen walking and supervising others sometimes and criticizing. If you don't how to handle situation ,at least you need to learn from your staffs. This is your job try to save your position, that is all . Miss Jawdah Jorf. I love muslim students more than all this world. I wish for them best education so they can be great leader in all areas for representing Muslims community. Feel really bad for not good future for our kids because of her wrong encouragement and try to save her position . Request for Education to join this academy with Edmonton school board so kids can get the same education the other students are involve. If she is honest , she should resign as a principal. If you are parents request to Alberta education to join with school board like Fort MAC MUARRY SCHOOL BOARD has Islamic School with. In that way kids will learn more in Islamic environment. Thank you brothers and sisters. Again wish my new generation!
Edmonton Islamic Academy is a good school, but the money is not the problem for me. They take money from the parents, and hire unprofessional and uneducated teachers. We really need to work on getting better teachers for our children, especially when they are growing up and starting to be in high school, where school and education is most important. Please hire better Teachers so this school could become better!
They deleted my review! So, let's do this again: this school is HORRIBLE. They don't care about your education, it's all about their reputation AND most IMPORTANTLY: MONEY. Proof? Well, if your child has a high average, but they don't do well on one exam, they kick them out... BUT if students want a second chance, there's a catch; you have to BRIBE THEM WITH MONEY to let the student stay in the school. I have met many parents, and they will tell you this is true. ANOTHER THING: they do NOT teach the religion the right way. We are taught to follow what our Prophet (PBUH) says, and what Allah (SWT) says.. But they don't teach us that. It's all based on their own opinions! And if you disagree, then you're said to be "uneducated" about Islam... ALSO instead of encouraging children to do better, they bring them down. BUT, if you have a high status, they will let you slide... If you even THINK that you're putting your children in a good environment, you're wrong. I've had high hopes in this school because it was "Islamic" but really, it is terrible. LOADS of bullying!! Yes, there is bullying in other schools, but THIS is to an extreme! They have NO sympathy for any child other than the ones with "high status" and the ones that feed them with money.
What a great school, Mashallah! The students there are respectful, responsible, and successful children. The teachers provide for you good education. Such an amazing school!
The teachers are BAD
This school is AMAZING. It is truly a great school for Islamic, Arabic, and all other subjects. If you are looking for a Islamic school, this is the one school you should choose. A LOT of people are saying that things won't get marked, though that is because the teachers need to see what you need help with and what you improved through the year
I am usually not a Google review writer but I am compelled to do so based on the low ranking reviews by few here. I will not be truthful to my Deen if I let the low reviews go public without defending the school, in particular, the Principal, Jawdah Jorf. This school creates opportunities for students to excel in all forms of leadership, including sports, academics, public speaking, volunteering in society and giving charity. It provides an environment that is so safe and family oriented, that parents are at ease leaving the kids there, knowing that they will always be taken care of by compassionate educators. I home-schooled my kids for a while for fear that they would be misled in society. However, four years I decided to send them to the Islamic Academy. It has proven to be the best four years for them. They love wearing the hijab even while playing sports. They were given opportunity to participate in speech and poetry competition and this just boost their self esteem. The principal, Jawdah Jorf has done an outstanding job in making kids feel welcomed and comfortable. She even goes to all the kids games and takes time to congratulate and motivate them. No matter who comes and goes, Jawdah will always be the stalwart of the Academy because everyone knows she is not the for the fame like others, she is the backbone and the one who keeps the school strong.
If you’re a parent considering enrolling your child at this school, please read this first and make your decision from there. I had attended this school for nine years, and as someone who is now about to graduate from a public school, I’ve finally come back to write this review. The quality of the teaching can range. For the most part, leaving this school made me realize I was able to achieve a higher academic level than I thought. The workload is gruesome but it really does ensure a better future. This is not what I wanted to address though. If you worry about your child’s mental health, and even physical wellbeing, don’t bother enrolling them here. If your child can cause trouble from time to time, you’ll be wasting 3K enrolling them here, since they have a tendency of expelling students over the most insignificant things. One look at what they punish them for, and you’ll immediately realize they do it based on saving the school’s reputation. They will take your child’s phone and go through it, and if they find something as meaningless as a swear word, or an “affair” they will consider kicking that child out of the school. If your child gets into a little trouble, then get ready to have them expelled with no second thoughts. Why am I saying all of this? Because I don’t believe the staff are genuinely qualified to handle students. Why is their solution to suspend/expel students? To just scream at them that it’s wrong but don’t explain why? How do you think a child will grow under these conditions? I realized how wrong it all was when I entered a public school. One of the students at my school was arrested for an offence, and they called my teacher to bail them out. And the teacher did that. I’m not saying the school is obligated to bail kids out from a crisis like that. But having an understanding teacher that scolds you with MEANING can change someone’s entire perspective. What would have happened if my teacher said no and the school expelled him? He would have been in a worse place. But he’s not. And that’s what changes everything when it comes to discipline. Children grow, and learn, and cause trouble. This is normal. EIA treats it like a crime. I don’t care if you think I’m exaggerating. I spent practically the majority of my life here, with all my memories. Leaving meant I had to drop all of that behind me. And I had no choice but to. It was too toxic. A school system where you are yelled at for challenging authority when it is due is an illogical school system. Moving on, let me emphasize the lack of resources in regards to a student’s mental health. When you are struggling with your psychological wellbeing, they send you to one unqualified staff member that will, without doubt, mess up your mindset even more than before you were sent to them. Why do they do this? What certifications does this teacher have? Why are they telling me my depression isn’t real, and that my feelings aren’t validated? What? Don’t even get me started on how they teach Arabic there. Every new year you start, they go back to the alphabet and how to connect the words. Some sentences. That’s it. There’s nothing special in regards to the curriculum regarding this language. In fact, it’s just repetitive. I feel so bad for my parents that continued to send me there for years on end. Sometimes I’ll look at the reviews of this school, and see how most of the five-star ones come from staff members that are part of the family that founded EIA. It makes me laugh to myself. If you don’t mind the lack of morals and integrity in this environment, you can send your child there. If you don’t mind the condescending staff members that scream in your kid’s face for maybe even no reason just because they can, why not. I think what bothers me the most, though, is when parents don’t consult their children on whether or not they want to attend a certain school. I am not a parent, but I am a child, and I can tell you that your kid wants more involvement on issues regarding themselves. Don’t be that guardian.
very bad school teahcers don't help when you need it. It's filled with very annoying people and i don't like it please fix your admin and management team. Most importantly you need to fix the students. Very horrible school
very good school becaus im in it
I enjoy it here amazing atmosphere but we have something known as options class, our teach said to meet in a specific room and that was almost a block ago
This school totally ripoff. There is no place for average or low income Muslims. These guys have a project going on for which they charge $3000 every student no matter you can afford or not but you have to pay this king of money other then this its yearly fee is $1750 plus private pick and droop off all together cost you $10750. looks like my son is not a kinder garden student but a Phd student in UoA
Volunteer $250 deposit should be paid to parents when the parent finished the volunteering, but parents have to wait until the child finished at the school which means 14years if the child goes to the school preschool to grade 12. And why is the deposit put in a bank account for the school, office said that. The school should not use parent money as free loan.
You won't receive any support from administration while teaching. You'll be thrown to the wolves and saddled with a whole bunch of initiatives that they throw at you on a whim just to please parents without consultation to the teaching staff There is a high turnover rate for a reason, and any inquiries or things you ask for will just be brushed aside. And if you need something like teaching records, you'll be calling them for months without any answer from the phone or follow up emails. If you're looking for teaching experience, stick with Edmonton public schools or elsewhere.
Inconsistent curriculum for Arabic & Islamic. Racism, classism, and discrimination in this school is alive and well. Some "Muslim" staff members are guilty of this misbehaviour as well (did I mention gossip as well?).
This building is really fancy and clean ,and the administration is polite and helpful ,I didn't give it 5 start because the school has 2 psychopaths , Amanah and naser, who should be in a mental, .facilities. Because they are harmful to human being .l
I came this school because of my religion my son is only 4 years and he is coming about a month i am getting complains , last year and September this year was attending another private school i nerve hard any issues, kids peri school gets more energy and they need to spend the energy but why am noticing teachers want be quiet kids if your kids more energy could not handle ????and they make me to question my pranting method , also they are telling me the whole class is doing good only your child is trouble maker they didn’t tell me he is bothering other kids but he took out our energy so am I very sensitive or teachers need more training for preschool because what are they expecting from preschool kids to be quiet and listen without training? I don’t think so that will going happen the reason I put there is to learn the school rules not to expected from him to know already I am really confused and mad already I hope don’t force me to quit the whole school ! and I hope the k-g teachers won’t give me like this situation
Amazing school that teaches students the best for their future
Unprofessional and Misbehaved Principal Board needs to hire professional principal. Jawdah Jorf has no manners and instead of listening to others she takes a route of shouting and yelling. Though not feeling good in mentioning Jawdah Jorf's performance but this is necessary to warn others. To describe her in short, she is more of a dictator than principal. We were with Edmonton Islamic Academy just for one year and decided not to continue due to principal's racist behaviour. We admitted our kids with great hope but standard is far lower than expected. Kids are being loaded with work and less being taught in class. Parents are pushed to cover and help kids to complete work. We have decided to go back to public school, having better learning environment. She should take courses on behavioural management and how to deal and listen others view point. If you don't know how to handle situation, you need to learn from your staff. She should resign as a principal being completely incapable to act one. She covers the bad practices being followed at school, on several occasions we have noticed that people covers entire row seats instead of following practice of first come first get. She feels that this is ok and people can take as many seats for their other relatives as they want. This gives rise and forms sort of having own community within Muslim Community. Instead of abolishing this practice she completely backs it and says that there's no harm in following this practice.
Good teachers but terrible administration such as Mrs. Mona and Mrs Tayyaba, they are unjust and pathetic.
Its the best cause i am there
Need to get the bed teachers out of there.
Best of it's kind in the city and province, beautiful face and well taken care of, with some of the teachers
It’s a beautiful school
I went to the Islamic Academy from preschool to grade 9 and I am now in my third year of my bachelors degree. During those years, I made lifelong friends, I learned more than basic Islamic knowledge like duaa' for everything, Quran memorization, and the important foundations of the Arabic language. When I left the school for high school, I met people who couldn't read the Fatiha (first chapter of the Quran), people who didn't know the Arabic alphabet or basic duaa before entering the washroom. It made me appreciate my time there even more. Without the Islamic school I wouldn't be who I am today and an attack on the Islamic school is an attack on me. Muslims who are only complaining about the cost and how bad the teachers are clearly don't remember what RasulAllah (saws) told us, "speak a good word or remain silent." Every school has its issues. Every school has bad teachers, did you really expect the Islamic school to be perfect? It was literally built from the ground up by community members and it's come a long way especially in a land where Islam is rejected a lot more than it is accepted. If you didn't personally attend Islamic school and you're complaining about tuition fees or you got expelled from there, you really have no say on what the academy is and what it stands for because automatically your opinion is irrelevant. This is coming from me and many others who attended and are on their way to becoming teachers and are hoping to come back and teach at EIA. May Allah SWT continue to bless the Islamic Academy and make it a safe learning environment for Muslims who are appreciative of the deen.
Every thing best islamic school and best management...best environment thanks for the Canadian government giving good opportunities to mulims.
