thus far I have only spoken with few employees on the phone but they are very polite, clear spoken (great for me as i have hearing difficulties over the phone) and helped direct me as best they could with the little information I had. I was recommended to attend a different school as the employee I dealt with suggested a more in-depth diploma not offered by the school would be more beneficial to me. overall it wasn't bad I was very pleased with the service I received but I dont feel like I can give it too big of a review as I have not had any in person experiences with staff or professors

I'm taking the Business Diploma and it is great as all schools there are some professor that are not good but they are excellent!! And there is a lot of opportunities the only thing that you should avoid are the online classes they need to change some things there.

Having worked contract here previously, the counsellors have no business in counselling whatsoever as they are the rudest, most unpleasant people I have ever encountered. They talked to me like a dog, snapped their fingers at me, slammed doors in my face, that is no way to treat a person. They expected me to do my job then complained when I tried to do it. I feel sorry for anyone who has to rely on them for help as they seem more concerned about drinking coffee and gossiping. That seemed to be Bow Valley staff's priorities in a nutshell. Old's College was always pleasant, Bow Valley staff need to take a page from them on how to treat people.

Very disappointed with the whole staff at this place . They don’t understand your problems and even don’t listen and don’t give any chance to explain your situations. I am getting very stressful since I joined this college. My whole life is messed up. When you visit the advisors first time they give you suggestions and then if you visit second time they give you other suggestions on same topics, but ignore the previous suggestions. some of the teachers prefer to help only their religion students, they don’t help other religion students.

I agree with Grges Markos. Went there to register for English course in the evening on 26th Wednesday. The lady at the registration office wasn't welcome and not even gave me the details of the course information before I can decide which course is suit for me. With her rudely voice keep asked me that I have to choose full-time or part-time course. I told her that I can't decided because I have to know the details first so I can decide. She said "You Have To Choose Full-Time or Part time?" with the rules voice and expression. (I should have looked at what her name is) It's not even busy at that time. There are only 2 clients with 2 registrars. After I received the email back that I have to wait for the course. I thought I already got in the course that I submitted with her. She just lack knowledge about the programs they are running Plus she doesn't have the customer service skills. Very disappointed compare with the registrar at the Columbia College(same day). They're very nice and more professional.

Finished the HR certificate program last year, during covid. It's been a year and I can barely get an interview. I had a 3.2 GPA, and already had a degree from the University of Alberta. When applying they made it seem very marketable. But the work experience program closed due to covid, and I am no longer eligible. I can't even get an appointment with a career advisor. Total waste of 14 grand I don't have. Once you graduate they don't care. I think much like CDI, they misrepresent themselves

Rebecca Waldner

The school is OK for online learning but in class would be much better. I think more can be done around campus so that people aren't always walking around so blindly (clearer Instructions and assistance), i was given unclear instructions on where HR was, which was by Tim Hortons. The book store which was my main cause to visit campus is the worst. When purchasing online i didn't get all my items (was missing stickies; which wasn't worth the headaches to try and get or refunded). This book store is not affiliated with bow valley, so I suggest buying used books or from a different source. My situation went like this: i ended up dropping out around Christmas for my program, I went to try and resell my books to them & in the end i couldn't sell them because i had no school ID. I couldn't get an ID because i wasn't enrolled in courses anymore. I never got an ID when i initially started as a student because I never made it in time in September. so it's catch 22. They don't state any rules on the book store site like these, so i ended up wasting lots of time and money on these. So, if you sell them do it while still enrolled or on facebook like I did. But, I recommend renting the text books and purchasing them later if you so choose. I also recommend going to another school over BowValley

We are currently trying to get admission for my brother who is coming from India. We have heard a lot of good staff about the Business administration diploma programme. He is currently finishing his Masters back home. I hope it comes out to be a life changing opportunity for him. He is looking to get some kind of scholarship as well if available. That will be of great help. Any details on regarding that ? Thanks.

I have to say I really wish I would have looked at the reviews before deciding that I wanted to pursue an education through this institution. I took a prerequisite course through Bow Valley, and there was a concern of my final exam mark not being added to my final grade. Thus causing me to get a D in the course and lose my spot for the LPN program. All I wanted to find out is if the final grade was in fact, not added. The following weeks of misguidance would be quite headache inducing. I've called and emailed several times thus far trying to find someone that could address my concerns, to no avail. I was told the first time that the only one who had access to my marks was my instructor and to message him. Fine, no problem. However, I have yet to hear back from him and it's been 3 weeks. I called Bow Valley once again, explained my dilemma and asked if the official transcripts would have my grades from the exams I took. I was informed that they did...Well, I just received the official transcripts and THEY DO NOT show the exam marks. Ugh, it's just so very frustrating to want to pursue an education at an institution and have the least helpful people "guiding" you. If this is any inclination of how the College is ran, I'll be looking at other College's in Red Deer and Calgary. So be warned people, make sure you read reviews and choose carefully where you want to further your education and invest your money and time. As this was already a $900 mistake that I will not be compensated for.

First, I was going to give the shcool two stars, but allot of the comments look suspiciously like they are forced/made by bots, so I am trying to cancel that out. second, my situation was extremely unique, while I wound up dropping out in the first month the blame is not on bow valley, though their were some problems that are bow valley's cons:very bad communication between departments often an office across the hall takes a week to communicate to the other office. This is a bad school if you require special accommodations, every other institution I dealt with sait, Chinook learning services, Okanagan college. the accomadations where in place before I even started. Here though, My teachers bless them for this, stepped in and provided the accommodations on the third week of studies because it was not handled. Third the security is very bad, I was carded by every single member of security, One time they carded me while a homeless person withdrew cash from an Atm and then got picked up by their crack dealer, this did not help my social anxiety at all. Finally very poor communication before school started and poor technology acumen from the teachers. EG: Bow valley let me know the school start dates and preceding workshops by sending an email to the bow valley college email that bow valley created without saying they had given me an email. Pros, recorded classrooms if you miss teachers I had were pretty good, and the career counselor was awesome. Conclusion, this is a ESL school first, For any of the other programs bow valley provides you are better off studying them at a different college that provides the same degree, Shout out to sait.

Currently on my 1st year in Bow Valley College taking the Justice Studies diploma. I did my research before applying as I wanted to enter an institution that would prepare me the best for a career in the Justice field as a law enforcement officer. Right now I can say with utmost confidence that I made the right decision based on a number of things: *Most of the instructors are either current, or former law enforcement professionals (Corrections Officers, Police Officers, Community Peace Officer etc) and you can see how they are passionate about it. This isn’t necessarily true for other colleges and universities and in my opinion it makes a lot of difference. * The program staff are hands on and efficient when it comes to assisting students that are in need of help, and this goes beyond in-class time. * Instructors give advice on how to properly set yourself up for a career in the Justice field. * Instructors give real life experience as examples too instead of just textbook examples which to me makes the lessons more relevant and engaging. * Since the college is very diverse, I’ve had classmates whose English isn’t their first language struggle at times to express themselves. I have yet to see one instructor shut them off or give less effort in trying to understand or help them. To me this shows a lot and you can see how it gave greater confidence to those students and made up for a better class atmosphere. *The program itself was affordable. I took student loans as a safeguard in case I couldn’t save enough by the first semester, but still ended up paying my tuition fees from my own savings. To me it is relatively affordable, especially when you consider the quality of the education that is provided. They do have specialized help desks regarding loans and fundings which is great. *The program does not just focus on laws like what most would assume. They also require you to take classes that will sharpen your interpersonal skills, note taking, report writing skills, public speaking, acknowledgement of inclusiveness and the societal impacts of any given action and so on. These life skills transformed me into a more well-rounded individual and benefitted me even outside of my Justice field related endeavours. *The college itself in general has a good atmosphere and the staff (cafeteria, library, security, and help desks) are very helpful and easy to approach. NOTE: Since I am still on my first year - I will update my review after I graduate from the program a year from now, but I anticipate my experience will only get better. I cannot invalidate or speak for anyone else’s experience/reviews for other programs. This is simply my personal experience with the Justice program and BVC.

Applied for gov funding and started school. Funding fell through so I stopped going to class immediately because I couldn't afford it. They're still trying to charge me for the course. They take attendance everyday, you would think the teacher would report my absence. The teacher seemed to be there to read a script, didn't seem to want to help and, made herself unapproachable.

this is the most supportive college and staff ever. You are truly seen as a person and your needs matter to your professors and they are all so understanding of life impacts outside of college, this place ESPECIALLY community studies Has such a sense of community and belonging. i am so happy i picked BVC to further my own work in community studies and help people :)

My experience with BVC cannot describe with words. I entered my dream program there a few years ago. During that time, I met lots of amazing instructors. However, I kind of being forced to leave because of the program policy. I would suggest BVC offer students with "real" and "corporate" support network help students succeed in their studies. Not only just "saying" but actually put students first to assist them to overcome the obstacles.

Honestly, if you NEED to go to a school to upgrade your English then yes this may be the school for you. If you are planning on doing absolutely anything else, avoid, avoid, avoid. Avoid this school like it is the plague. They have horrible teachers, horrible staff, horrible organization, absolutely everything was horrible about this school. They hire 'teachers' that are basically just let's say you want to be a nurse, well they have a "nurse" teaching you, okay cool that's awesome! Unfortunately these teachers are absolutely BAD at teaching, they don't seem to care to want to help the students excel but rather just gain a paycheck. If you can go to a REAL university or college. If you must, use bow valley to upgrade your highschool marks to get into a REAL university or college, this place will just let you leave being broke, and useless books in your possession.

One of the many colleges in Calgary; bow valley sits in the heart of Calgary downtown and welcomes everyone to study a course or just walk around and speak to a member of staff.

A couple of teachers Lorna Houck and Tasha Nott were incredibly amazing. Although, I passed short with grades less than what is expected of me. I have learned a great deal from these two. Lorna was more than amazing when it came to helping me with my resume writing. I have never recieved 4 interviews in one month before. Yes their are teachers here that shouldn't be teaching, and the school seems a little disorganised. Their is no such thing as a perfect school. And I would recommend keeping this only at the back of your mind, as this school is only in the developing stages and shouldnt be considered to be Univeristy material. And it is the students job to approach the instruct such as I have about things needing to be corrected. If you dont care, They dont have time to care either. That aside Lorna and Tasha were actually the two teachers in which I felt were the best in their department. Amazing teaching skills.

The new school of creative technologies is a disaster and definitely not worth paying hundreds of dollars for courses designed and taught by posers. The coordinator and the dean have no background or education in marketing, digital marketing or computer science. The courses are taught by people with NO previous teaching experience!! Total cash grab - 2nd class education. If you are serious about the field try SAIT, ACAD, Mount Royal, UofC.

I went to the open house in the fall of 2017, eventually applied for entry into the Post-diploma Software Development program. I had a couple of bad experiences with admissions and registrations that made me consider applying for other schools. Before I withdrew from the program at Bow Valley I found admissions and registration unorganized and uncommunicative which solidified my decision to look else were. I have a positive impression of the teachers I met at open house and the campus in downtown Calgary is very beautiful.

I recently completed pg diploma in Health and Human services. My personal experience with course staff was very good, but when it came to administrative field it became worst. I am married and my husband is in Canada on my depended open work permit and our both visa expires by july. It was very essential for me to apply work permit as soon as possible so that I can apply my husband as well. I requested letter of completion but none of the department helped my call was transferred from one department to other and everytime I heard that I will have to wait for 6 to 8 weeks for official transcript. I clearly mention them that I have been offered a Managerial position and for that again I need my work permit but they did nt helped me and just because of their sturbourness I will be loosing my job. Bow valley is very first school in canada who takes this long and is not ready to help at all. I would never recommend Bow valley as nobody will help, they are more responsible in risking their students career.

I applied Bow Valley College academic upgrading program in May 14, 2019. I registered a high school upgrading course on mybvc. It turns out that the course is full. I ended up on the waitlisted. Before I apply for Bow Valley College academic upgrading program, I asked four different staffs at Bow Valley College flexclass and detail of the course. She didn't explain everthing about the course. She didn't explain the detail of the course. The girl is red hair middle age. I need to go back and fourth to ask about academic upgrading program and what is like taking a flexclass. When I booked an appointment to meet with Steven at accessibility services area, next day asian girl forgot that I have a appointment with Steven. Asian girl seem doesn't know what is going on. I was like WTF. That was my reaction. Why she forgot that I have an appointment with Steven. There is another girl working at the accessibility services, she is brown. Indian middle east girl middle age woman. She told me that I need to be a Bow Valley College student. I asked for a student ID card, yellow hair middle age woman explained to me in a rude way that I need to registered for a course. She seem not a patient person. She wasn't patient to explain everything to to me. This college is a joke. This was my experience with Bow Valley College. I would highly recommend that think twice before apply for Bow Valley College. This school seem like unorganized. Staff are completely idiots. Staff are rude and unprofessional. AVOID BOW VALLEY COLLEGE AT ALL COST. My grammar is bad. Please avoid Bow Valley College. Owner of Bow Valley College, your school is bad. This place is everything wrong with the post-secondary experience and then some. Try to google the HR department and you will find out that they will gladly take your cash to maybe teach you HR, but their own department is hard to find. When you contact them finally, they tell you to talk to the dean of your department since they apparently mostly deal with payroll. The instructors yell at students, the curriculum is based off google, and the staff will find whatever reason they can to justify removing you from the school if you ask too many questions about anything other than your assignments. Most of the credit are NON-TRANSFERABLE to most universities so if you want to extend your education, you will need to start all over again. This is a serious problem and it's unbelievable that this place still operates. It would serve better as office space for City Hall than it would in its current position, stealing potential students money for an education that is only recognized by its own establishments.

This review is only based on online learning. It was an absolute gong show. My instructor was not knowledgeable, gave zero instruction, zero feedback and zero constructive criticism. Online quizes came with no answer sheet so you couldn't even learn from them and check your answers (yes, I reached out to my instructor on this and was told "It's a D2L setting that she can't figure out). Information was contradictory online depending on the tab you open. My final quiz needed to be scheduled in person however the information online states that IF you live in Calgary you can take your quiz online, it also states IF you'd like to take your quiz at the school you have the option to do so - again, depending on the tab you click you would get different information. I have the privilege of writing an open book exam, yet I need to go into the school, something I was trying to avoid, hence the online learning. Overall - not a good learning experience with zero support or instruction.

Though, my poor opinion of BVC is based on my experiences while obtaining my Early Learning Childcare diploma, I have a hard time believing that other students have not had a similar experience as I. The first problem I have with BVC is that all my online courses were graded, but they were not marked. That is, there was never any feedback on what I was doing wrong when I got marks deducted. I found this particularly frustrating because I would propagate, what I assume were, the same mistakes throughout the course. Apparently, BVC instructors feel that there is no reason to actually let their students know what they are doing wrong. This is a crazy attitude to have of course. How can you learn when you are never corrected, but just told that you are wrong? The answer is that you cannot, at least not very well. Furthermore, that BVC would find this acceptable, speaks volumes about the quality of the education they are providing. At BVC, online courses allow you to submit your assignments and write your tests electronically; the tests are even marked by their servers. Some of my instructors for my online course would take forever to mark my assignments. In fact, I managed to submit entire course worth of assignments without receiving a single mark or any feedback from my instructor whatsoever. I submitted all the assignments and then waited for the final exam to be provided. Unfortunately, my exam never came because, I was told, I had to request the exam from my instructor. I can only imagine that by being the gatekeeper of the exam, since I was not helped in anyway by the instructor, this made them feel needed or useful in some way. The truth was that they got in your way more than they were useful. Probably the worst thing BVC has done to me is what happened when my father died. I requested an extension on one of my courses. I was informed by my instructor that I would have to put in a request through administration and that it would cost a $100 before my request would be processed... I was very upset. If BVC was a person, it would be a psychopath, devoid of human feeling and compassion. They only want money, they care nothing about you or your education. I tell you this because I feel that it is my duty to warn other people about BVC. Do not make the same mistake I did in attending this institution. I had much, much more to tell about the shortcomings of BVC but I think I have expressed my opinion adequately. Also, I did achieve my diploma with honors despite the failings of BVC. Good luck and take care Erin

Overall, I have had an excellent experience at BVC. I just completed the Justice Studies diploma, and am excited to have this with me for my future. The teachers are very knowledgeable and understanding. They all have a vast range of knowledge from working in different areas of the justice system, and they share their knowledge with the students. BVC makes sure that the students in this program graduate with the appropriate certifications to help us succeed in our future careers, whichever path we take. The teachers take the time to get to know their students. I feel like some of these bad google reviews have nothing to do with the courses themselves, but rather the admissions and registrar departments. Very good college, and I would recommend them to anyone!

I was very disapointed to find out it takes more then a week for them to send your exam to your partner college. With the technology we have nowadays, I dont understand why they still use mail. I took online courses because I have a tight schedule. Now, I have to plan two weeks ahead to complete each exam (there are many, one every unit). It gets very enoying and frustrating. Good luck if you decide to take online courses at BVC and also have a tight schedule.

I went there on Dec 2014 to help my friend register to study English. Since she just came over to canada we need to get some english class so that later she can get in the main program. We arrived there around noon and it not verry busy at that time. We asked where we can register for her to have a test to determine her level of english and we can enroll here in english class. The staffs from the main floor tell me to go upstair for international student department. We went upstair then they told us to go back downstair. They kept sending us back and forth many times untill i told them stop sending us back and forth. Then the downstair staff give us a form to fill in and i asked them about 3 times that this is the form for my friend to study english only. They said yes yes. Then we go pay the fee of $150 nonrefundable at the cashier. When we got back to the upstair to get the schedule for the exam then they told me we paid for the wrong program. It was for something else and that we have to come back after Christmas becuz that's the last day they open. I told her that i already asked many times about the form that we filled out if it for enroll in english class only. They send us to go back and forth many times, gave us the wrong form, the she told me "it's not my fault". I asked her "so is it my fault then?". She said i can go to calgary board of education. They dont deal with us anymore!? When i step out to phone my friend's sister to let her know what going on then she asked my friend "is she Chinese?" She have the time to concern about someone else race but not be able to listern and help student to enroll in the right program at the first place. Now i read and saw so many complain about the service staffs and their racist act i can understand. No surprise that u will get treat different here. Ps: I hope u get a lot richer by getting that extra $150 from an international student that just came to Canada. The quality of instruction at Bow Valley College is shockingly bad. At best, the instructors take one week to reply to your questions, telling you they cannot answer the questions. At worst, they don't even reply and are very rude about it. Many of my instructors misgraded me and I had to drag them kicking and screaming to fix my grades (even though it was entirely their fault). I eventually got tired of their incompetence and just accepted the grade. I will never take a course with Bow Valley again and I strongly WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

If I could I would give this less than a 1/2 star! This institution is a pathetic excuse for a school! The staff are not qualified and are not helpful. They don't care if you fail and are impossible to get a hold of! Think twice before applying and giving your money away to this school. This place is a money grubbing scam!

After one year at Bow Valley I found it a terrible experience. I faced a conflict with a teacher and a department. I attempted to document the situation and was hit with a "misconduct" charge to silence me. I won a 1000.00 in the Venturequest contest and was told that because I did not file a notification, I would not collect it, yet Bow Valley charged 350.00 a table for members of the Calgary community, business leaders and politicians to hear me and 4 others speak representing the college. Search reviews, record all calls to the school, never enter a meeting with an administrator without a witness with you, If you have issues with the college contact the Alberta Department of Education, Alberta Human Rights Dept. or Alberta Lawyers Referral. Never sign anything. I would not recommend any program at this college.

All I experienced in this collage was horrible. Taking courses with BVC is wasting the money. There are only stupid instructors, who don't have enough knowledge to teach.

Very disappointed in how Bow Valley College make their students feel. I have my step daughter that is studying very hard to be a LPN and continuing to study for a RN after. She is now in her placement at the hospital for six weeks and on her last week to complete the six weeks. She has one more semester and was told because of Covid 19 there would be a lottery for placement before her exam. Lottery!!!!????? So out of 7 students in her group, 5 of them have placement and can continue and do there exams. Well, she was one out of the two that were not chosen. So she can not continue with the rest of her class and now needs to be held back and she is continuing to make 90"s in her grades. Bow Valley basically treated her like she failed her course. As a group, you dont single a student out (or in this case two). This I hope will not affect her going forward as it really crushed her. If two can not go, hold all until able to continue, very unorganized College. IT IS NOT A STUDENTS FAULT THAT COVID 19 IS HERE.

Don't take the full online course. There is no help from your instructor. If you need help when you are stuck in d2l in relation to your workbook , you will spend hours trying to figure out what to do on your own.. I dropped the program before due date, however I lost my chance to gain my admin program, I was a sponsored student. I am very disappointed and will never apply here again or recommend to anyone.

Maybe on Campus learning is different, but AVOID THEIR ONLINE PROGRAMS AT ALL COSTS!!! I wish I had read more reviews before I enrolled. The current course I'm in consists of Powerpoint files that were mainly copy and pasted from other online sources, and then links to various websites with quasi-relevant information (though the course is so outdated that many of the websites don't even exist anymore). The content that is original is full of typos, making it difficult sometimes to know exactly what information the writer was trying to convey. So you do your reading through a module, get to the end of that module where you are required to complete an assignment, and it's full of problems and questions on concepts/information/formulas that the course didn't even cover (I went back and read through everything several times again just to double check that I hadn't experienced a brain aneurysm and totally missed something - nope, it was just never covered). So you email your instructor to ask if there are resources they can suggest for you to study to cover all these concepts that weren't covered in the module but you are being asked to solve in the assignment, and all they say is "google it" (no, I am not lying. I have an email for proof if anyone cares to see). Oh, and it took the instructor 2 full weekdays to even bother to respond. So far I am completely frustrated and disgusted with trying to finish off this certificate. I was going to wait until I was completely finished before writing this review, but I feel compelled to dissuade as many people as possible from wasting their money on Bow Valley. Go anywhere else - it can't possibly get any poorer quality than this.

Brittany Abernethy

I contacted three different people to see if I could take just one or two classes from the certificate course and two people told me that I could and it wouldn't be a problem and then the third admissions person told me that I couldn't and I had to register for the entire certificate unless I had special permission to do so. I have decided to attend another college because it's way too difficult to figure out how to even enroll at bow valley and they aren't helpful from the start so why waste your money here.

UPDATE: JUNE 30 :MY ISSUE HAS NOT RESOLVED YET. CAN I HAVE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS & WILL DISCUSS. I do not recommend this college for any course, especially for Licence Practical Nurse program. I wasted my time, money and increased stress level. I couldn't get my LPN degree. I was just 3 subjects away to complete my program and fired for 3 years because of fourth subject failure policy ( When I took admission that time they didn't have this policy) Everything I tried to save up my career. I appealed up to dean, but none of them helped me out. Rules and regulations are different for every student. I have small children so I couldn't join any college (outside city). Right now I am so depressed. Please please don't go with this college. Save up your career and future. UPDATE: April 25, 10am . UPDATE: I ALREADY MENTIONED DATE & TIME IN MY PREVIOUS COMMENT. ANYWAY YES I WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT & DISCUSS REGARDING MY ISSUE. PLEASE CONFIRM.

Do not take the Aboriginal Upgrading program if you do not possess a Mètis or Treaty card. The staff will push you away, make you feel unwelcome and then ignore you when you try to take it up with their superiors. Nobody would give me the Human Resources phone number for months, I finally found the information I needed after being refused a call back about this situation. I've been shown racism my whole life for being a half breed, who knew it would happen here too- while trying to get an education, practice my culture and most importantly- better my life for my children. I always planned on getting my Mètis card, anyways (which I since have hired a genealogist and applied for my status card)- but not because an institution forced me to prove who I am. I couldn't even win any money, or bursaries. They were just power tripping over nothing. If I looked aboriginal, like all the rest- they wouldnt have asked me to prove who I am. They never made any of my classmates! UPDATE: If you are also on your spiritual journey- check out the friendship center next door inside of The Sorce. They're really kind, welcoming people. They offer tons of workshops, can hook you up with smudge stuff in exchange for tobacco, they have elders there. An elder named Ernie Poundmaker took me to a sweat with him. They're really kind people over there, I was super grateful for that. There's also other groups for aboriginal and Mètis people, like Braiding The Sweetgrass and they have a place on 32 Ave NE that offers different types of workshops and programming as well. Don't give up on your culture, or lose your identity because of other people's prejudices!! There are other programs out there that have people who care about more than being employed, with their noses up in the air like their better than everyone else (like, legit almost all of the staff here). There are people out there who want to keep our culture alive within more than just their own kin! Since my experience, I shared my story with others. One woman told me, that the only job that she ever quit was at BVC! She didn't even give them her 2 weeks notice, because she didn't like the way this place was run. How sad, that even previous employees of this college have nothing nice to say about it.

Bow Valley College is a wonderful institution with high-quality campus facilities and enthusiastic instructors. All campus services are available, student-friendly and easy to approach. I wish I can give 0 score. It is terrible experience ever!!! First the registration office is suck. They don't know what they are doing, they charged the tuition in the silly way that always make mistakes. Secondly, they make mistake that took away my seat, sent wrong email. And you could not even trust any staff there because the wrong information. Thirdly, I was advised by staff that I can take public course which can transfer the credit to my program and they changed the program curriculum and did not accept my credit transfer. Forth, like some other students state, some teachers there are actually not qualified to teach and don't respect people. Fifth, the locker service is terrible, yeah, even though is not charged, but they did not send any electronic notification and cut student lock and asked students pay for breaking lock service that they were forced to have, what's more, if you not able to get your staff back in a month, they just throw them away, there is no property right for student. Sixth, you won't feel any bvc culture in the school, you won't feel proud and feel excited about the activities which they have. SAIT is much much much more better than bvc. If you are international student, think about SAIT first; if you are upgrading student, think about SAIT first. If you have no choice, wish you have a good luck in BVC.

Never take admission in bow Valley college. Its a money making machine. They loot poor students and fail then intentionally to extract more money. Teachers never reply to emails They put plagirism/cheating casses intentionally. Becuase there are less canadian students in BVc that is why they take advantages of international students innocence.

I rarely write a review on the internet about anything. I always believe that human beings are not perfect, but for BVC I just need to write something. After reading all the comments , I decided to write may be I can be helping other people out there. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO BVC for any program especially NURSING. If you know you are smart or intelligent, they are going to waste and life will not be meaningful to you. Am currently a student taking LPN, 2nd year. I took most of my courses online before joining the class last year. To cut the story short, lab skills for nursing department is something else. The evaluators both inside and outside are racist especially when they see blacks. I took AHA last semester, failed me, I went to the coordinator but the coordinator is also a racist, meanwhile a friend of mine had the same problem and the coordinator did it for her 3rd term and passed the exam. I took the course again, making sure I practiced very well even with the instructor several times in the lab and I was assured that I will pass it with good grade. The evaluator told me I did very well, even my partner(patient) told I will passed that she ticked everything for me, but the evaluator did not tell if I will redo anything. I got a call from my colleagues that the result is out, I checked no grades for me, then I know that I have a redo. I ALMOST COMMIT SUICIDE. because the implication is that I may stay at home for a complete 1 year. I was warned before joining BVC, but I taught am a excellent student that I will succeed but I was disappointed and shown me that there is RACISM in this country. Instead for BVC to ruin my life, am still young and my children are still young, I will rather run for my dear life. Other nursing schools are not as stressful like BVC. I am not suppose to give you any star. PLEASE BVC WILL DESTROY YOU. Those people currently there are managing and praying fervently to scale through.

I was looking for directions and even showed the staff where I needed to go, but nobody was helpful. They seemed like they didn't care and just said wherever so I would leave. However, the external testing centre staff are really kind and helpful.

Honestly, the online program started out great. First semester was a breeze and the instructors were helpful. As soon as second semester hit it was a disaster. First, the final exams were no longer chosen by you as they were first semster. It has to be when the school said. Working fulltime and trying to do this doesn't work. This is why I had chosen online in the first place. Secondly, some of the instructors didn't do anything. You'd get something wrong on a test and ask for clarification and they'd be like "that's the answer". I wanted to know why that was the answer. Or things wouldn't actually be in any of the readings. I was told multiple times that " Online has it's challenges"..No, that's not the problem here. I know for a fact the online and in class students have different books, the in class having more to study from. So I'm assuming the in class modules are just copied for the online students. Not helpful. Especially when we don't get the lecture part of it, which is probably also where the extra information is told. Lastly, tests and exams.. GAH! Some of the learning modules were newer and updated compared to the exams on them. For example SCM or Clinibase tests used old versions which some of the icons didn't even resemble the new ones. I brought this up to my instructor and she was like " Well you did well so it's not really an issue"..I friggin guessed and was lucky. So frustrating. Other tests were cumulative which wasn't told before hand. So you'd read and study say Module 3, go to the exam and there would be things from Module 1 on them. This was also frustrating as it was something you hadn't looked at in a while. You'd spend all your time studying the one module, having absolutely no idea you should be studying all three. Or the best part (like I mentioned above), things wouldn't be in the readings. I'm sorry but you can't test me on something that wasn't taught. Just because the tests are based on the in class versions doesn't mean online is the same. The practicum component of my program wasn't any better. The coordinator for this was horrible. She rarely replied to my emails. I had to go above her to get a reply and even then she was rude. I'm sorry but this is part of your job. She frequently lost the documention I had to email to her and I had to resend multiple times. She placed me somewhere that had never taken students before, nor were even looking to hire on anyone new. So that landed me nothing after finishing it. The really bad thing is, my preceptor who graduated a year before me said all of this happened to her as well. You'd think the school would be trying to improve, not stay the same. Really disappointing.

The online registration is confusing and just terribly awful. Back in 2011, it wasn't like this. Most classes are full, considering that there's still more than a month before school starts. I think it's a waste of time, money and effort to have one class each day when you can possibly have two or more. BVC handbook states that you need to do your best and everything possible to succeed, but BVC itself is not helping students to succeed. They just want your money. Please prove me wrong Bow Valley College management.

I used to put my baby in this laugh and learn daycare and I had a horrible experience. They staff did not have any experience how to treat kids. The daycare is not clean enough the washroom always messy . There was no activity for the children to do. Even the payment the ask you for one month payment as deposit and than the take it any way. I strongly not encourage you to put you baby in laugh and learn daycare.

I have experienced the same issues as the other reviewers. I took the online English course because I work full time and wanted the flexibility. Firstly, the courses themselves are expensive. I paid $650 to take one class. Once I got the material by email, I emailed my instructor because I was having difficulty getting started (because it is quite confusing at first), and he took two weeks to email me back to advise that he would be out of town for two months. At this point, I wanted to drop the course and make the arrangements to take it in class, however, it was too late to drop it. This was an extreme waste of money. I would highly recommend avoiding online learning through Bow Valley at all costs - take the time and go to SAIT for in class learning - it is so much better.

LPN program fail ratio super high, specially for immigrants in 3 hospital practicals. Most clinical instructors are not ready to teach and think student knows and start testing them from 1st day.Take this program as last option and look for other Lpn programs elsewhere.I found few clinical instructors presume East Indian or Chinese respectful, soft, thankful, obliged nature as weakness and thing starts from there.Working in AHS so what ever saying is my personal experience as ex bvc student and I see this instructors bringing students in my unit and repeat of the same story on some other student.I remember my 1st clinical instructor named Roxy failed me and said this program is not for me and here I am working with AHS acute care with one year best nurse in the unit award too..something wrong and I hope they fix it.

Not a good college, there are a few cons about this school. For instance it's in the heart of downtown Calgary but a few blocks away is the drop in center. I've seen lots of homelessness in the college and the security isn't doing anything about this, I'm always being check or show them my student card and yet they don't ask an homeless person if there a student. ????????????????????.

Terrible student service! It’s my first year year in the college, and taking two semester so far. The English course instructor is racist, so the assignments were graded unfairly. The program chair is not helpful, and the instructors are rude. They do not take time to listen to students situation/needs, all they want is the money. They do not care about the students. Some of the phone lines in the department never pick up the phone, that you had to email them while the problem is urgent. For example, technical issue for the online quizzes/tests. The staffs and the instructors are slow at responding to emails . Poor student services! DO NOT recommend to anyone.

It's unfortunate that there aren't more options in Calgary for college certification programs. The courses are disorganised, the administration is poorly managed, ineffectual, and often rude, and the teachers are underwhelming at best. The prices for textbooks are almost criminal. This institution takes advantage of people in vulnerable circumstances and makes the most of any opportunity to cut corners. If you have any other option, take it.

So far, I am very disappointed with BVC. I chose to do an online course and the school seems more concerned with cheating than with giving you an education. Your tests are never given back to you. You are given a grade and no feedback whatsoever about where you went wrong. It's hard to go into a final without knowing what you dont know. The instructors seem pressured and angry. Overall I wouldn't recommend BVC. Perhaps find an alternative if you can. An education is expensive and you should get your money's worth. You wont here.

The last concerns of the college are the students as they do not care about the opinion or interest of the students and do not listen to their students when they have problems. Also, some teachers waste time as it is a very long course period ,and if you make a complaint no one listens to you I do not recommend them . The management is purely material

Completed the HCA program. April 26 was my last day at practicum and i have found work as an HCA already. I absolutely loved the program and my instructors. I am so glad that i did it. I will be honest and tell you that it is a lot of work and you need to put the time and effort into your studies. I promise that this will pay off. You need to be proactive and organized. You will be doing assignments and presentations and labs right away. This is adult education and you need to take responsibility for yourself and your workload. If you cannot follow basic instructions you will have issues. Be on time and attend all your scheduled classes and labs. Treat it like you would a job. There are also so many resources in the college available to students, make use of them. You will be told about these at orientation and again in your first couple of days of classes. This review may sound like my experience was no fun at all but it actually was a ton of fun and i made some great friends. I just want to give the above mentioned advice to people that are considering going back to education. The college itself is beautiful. The instructors i had were amazing and so helpful. Thanks again. Highly recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would, this College is very unprofessional. Such a waste of time and money. I had applied for the MOA program and sent in my official transcripts and called early August asking if they had been received and was told yes and TWO days before the start date of the program I was told they were not received and they had closed my application leaving me down $265 for the application fee and confirmation fee. Even though it was their fault this had occurred. I have been dealing with Lorrie Keon and she is unprofessional and frankly the absolute worst. She has not been responding to her emails and not caring about the client or their refund. I DO NOT recommend this college, SAIT has a much better program, I suggest looking everywhere else before applying here.

I did academic upgrading at BVC a few years ago. I had a few teachers that were amazing like Susan in Social Studies and Erin in Max Pace! They were very helpful and made learning easy. Unfortunately, I had a few bad teachers. Tasha in English was horrible. I very much disliked her teaching methods. She was completely rude to me the whole semester and did nothing to ever help me. When I would stay back after class to have one on one time with her, I never got nothing out of it! Not to mention the Academic Foundation department, what a bunch of A-holes! Never in my life did I have such a bad experience with a school. My 2 teachers that were good to me, helped me get through my time there at BVC. Otherwise, if it weren't for Susan and Erin, I would not have went to BVC at all!!! If you want to do academic upgrading, I would suggest Chinook College or somewhere else! I'd leave BVC as a last resort, in my opinion!!

This school is terrible organized and it a complete money grabber. For the nursing program specifically most students fail at least 2 courses before they even finish. The reasons for failing are 90% of the time absurd and not academically correct. It all depends on the instructor and the evaluator for exams. The graduating class is normally 20% of the same group of people who started together because the failure rate is so high. Please people who want to do nursing do not go here! The stress is not needed.

Teachers, especially the top people in the justice program were amazing. I am a new student so I have only met a few teachers. I have a background in the field of teaching and law, ESL, and am a licensed teacher. I started working with children who have learning and behavioral issues and felt I made a huge difference. I had no formal training with these special needs children so I am adding a diploma to my University degree. Another teacher spent time explaining the program and said to call any time if I had more questions...one of the administrative staff ...fairly high up in management, walked me to the train stop just to be nice and welcomed me to the college!.....Who does that any more? Five stars!!! Now... I know what you are thinking..this guy is a fake poster maybe the son of a teacher..read on....you noticed the rating I gave was only 3 stars. The international department was terrible to work with. I will be writing a totally different review after school starts and some of it will be the bad experience with the International department. In all fairness, the Director listened to my complaints and was respectful. So I hope that any interaction going forward with that department will be able to negate the prior bad experience. The food was great...all the people I met were great, parking was terrible but I think I will be using the train once I learn the system. It pulls right up to the college..that is very cool.
