It's an amazing school that's help shape who I am as a young adult. I think it's value is held in its willingness to allow students to explore on their own. The ability to make decisions on your own without feeling like you need to get permission for everything. It gives you a sense of independence and helps students understand how to take responsibility and that every action or lack thereof has a consequence. Also known as procrastination. Shout out to Miracle May!

I really liked the school when I went there. The system was amazing. However, there are some things I would like to talk about. First and foremost, the teachers. The teachers are pretty hit or miss there, with some being very helpful and informative, and others being horrible. As a POC, I couldn’t help but notice that I was treated differently when I came to this school. A lot of the teachers don’t give you the same privileges as they give students that are non-POC. I had a really difficult time thriving because POCs were not treated on the same level as non-POC students. I would say I was a fairly good student, but once, I had to give up my seat to a non-POC student in a work area. The discrimination in this school is very evident. You don’t get treated as fairly if you aren’t a non-POC student. The discrimination is very prominent, and I often felt like I couldn’t ask for help from any teacher because they would treat me differently. The administration team also is the same. They treat non-POC students very well there, building strong connections with them and getting along well with them. However, all the POCs were left out and we were often yelled at for everything we did. If you are currently attending this school as a POC or planning to, I would recommend that you understand the privilege difference between POCs and non-POCs.

Carroll lacks basic student support and it's extremely unfortunate. The idea of independent learning is fantastic; however, for one to actually have an adequate learning environment at this school there needs to be at least some level of organization, and there currently is very little of that. I've been kicked out of designated study areas while trying to work, encountered condescending staff, and have waited in lines snaking around the school just to write a test. If you enjoy desperately trying to self advocate with no avail, then perhaps you will like it here more than I did.

Awesome high school experience! My time management skills as well as my work ethic improved dramatically. University is going so smooth and I attribute much of my success to this unique school and opportunities it gave me. Lots of work but definitely rewarding!

This is the best school bar far in Calgary, I’ve never been so happy in my life. Ms Visy is a world class teacher, Calgary is lucky to have her.

Great school, great community, unforgettable experience! I graduated June 2014 and it was an experience I will never forgot. Throughout elementary, and junior high my grades would fluctuate from 60s to high 90s. Often times I would do more poorly in the courses I'd enjoy, but my teachers could never understand why. I found that other students were setting me back when I understood a concept right away, thus I would get bored and get in trouble; or they were pushing me through the material before I was ready to move on. At Carroll, I was able to work through the concepts I understood quickly, giving me more time to allot towards the material I found challenging. I suffer from ADHD, and many doubted my success. The truth is, many students who you'd least suspect, thrive in a school with such freedom. The ability to absorb the material best suit to your needs, allows you to work through it more quickly. Overall I would rank this school, the #1 school (from vancouver island to Toronto) I have ever attended. Eberyone gets along as a community. There is no grade separation, everyone works in one big group where everyone can help each other.
