Authentic and tasty. Don't be scared away by the modest restaurant or it's location away from the center of town. Take it from someone who knows real Mexican food, this is the best Mexican food for at least 100 miles. Wholeheartedly recommend! The staff was friendly and attentive.

We were recommended this restaurant by a number of people, and the hype was quite built up for us. However, coming from Vancouver, perhaps our expectations for the food were more. The ambiance is great, and staff is sweet, but the food wasn't at par with our expectations. Nevertheless, this is a good ethnic mexican place to visit in Whitehorse, for anyone that's looking for change.

Easily the best restaurant in Whitehorse and one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The environment is colourful, warm and inviting. A great experience, especially during the long winters. The food is great and the drinks are better.

The manager was quite rude to me at the till when I asked if it was correct: $8 for a small chips & salsa, (just a handful of chips, not nachos, and an ice cream scoop sized salsa) practically throwing the menu at me and saying I could verify the price. I said its really not necessary, I would just like to know if it was rung in as a mistake. She went on sarcastically and actually asked "what, did you expect us to feed you for free?" I was a little shocked by it at first. You know when you are blindsided by a sudden rudeness you weren't expecting. This went on for a good minute or two with the practically full restaurant watching her chew me out - at the till, Lol. She went on about how the tomatoes cost her money and such, while I said calmly that I would pay the menu price no problem but thought it was an error, and to not make this so uncomfortable. I went here with a totally polite and friendly demeanour, in uniform after working in town, and not at all expecting such a bizarre transaction. Even the server was a weirdo; a nicer one though. Avoid if you like good service. Go if you like decent Mexican and temper tantrums. P.S. lady, I make better salsa

Beautiful spot with some surprisingly good Mexican food, especially for the Yukon! I had their special which was some empinadas with beans and a salad. The salad was lightly dressed, fresh, and topped with sun-dried tomatoes. The black beans we're perfectly flavoured and not dry at all. And the empinadas were full of chicken drizzled in a sauce to die for. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my meal at the Sanchez Cantina. Having come from southern California I must say that the food was not truly authentic Mexican. But for the Yukon, this was pretty good Mexican. It was tasty, filling and healthy. I'm a vegetarian and was pleased with the vegetarian and vegan selection. I would eat there again.

Difficult review for me to write without a bias. I think this is a good spot but it's missing some key Mexican dishes for me to say it would be a 5 star place elsewhere but in Whitehorse and without another Mexican place this is definitely a 5 star place . The execution of the dishes is excellent and the meal is authentic and could go against any other Mexican restaurants in large cities. I also would love it to be open on Sundays for some hangover style foods mexico has like a pozole or barbacoa tacos. I guess I cannot hold that against them but if you want to make me and others fanatics of your restaurant open Sunday and maybe expand the menu to include some key dishes. I would kill for Barbacoa, Choriqueso or Al pastor tacos. Maybe even some menudo or elotes/esquites in a cups for special occasions.

I had wanted to go since I moved to whitehorse, but it never arrived on time (they close at 9 pm) and finally I did it and it was no disappointment. The food is not bad, but it's not quality Mexican food, and for the prices they charge, it should be. The jar of margarita was the worst, I had never taken a margarita so incipido and with so little alcohol. I doubt it will come back. (Original) La verdad es que fue una pena darme cuenta que este lugar no es lo que esperaba. Tenia ganas de ir desde que me mude a whitehorse, pero.nunca llegaba a tiempo (cierran a las 9 pm) y al fin lo hice y fue ina decepcion. La comida no es mala, pero no es comida mecicana de calidad, y por los precios que cobran deberia serlo. La jarra de margarita fue lo peor, nunca habia tomado un margarita tan incipido y con tan poco alcohol. Dudo mucho que vuelva.

Kid friendly and so colourful and beautiful! We made a reso for 6 people on a Wednesday evening and lucky we did because it was packed. Great selection and tasty options. I ordered the burrito with no sides and it was plenty of food. Came smothered in a salsa and more of a knife and fork situation than finger food.

One of my favourite Whitehorse restaurants! A wide array of different authentic types of tacos...soft/hard, corn/flour, etc. The Gorditas are my personal favourite. The sides of beans and rice are super tasty. Love the atmosphere here, but they are currently renovating, so very much looking forward to seeing the new space when complete. A busy place for sure and very reasonably priced.

Absolutely delicious food, but the portions are surprisingly small considering the high cost (even for the north - e.g. chips and salsa), they were very strict about substitutions (none were permitted - e.g. green sauce instead of red) and they were out of many items on the main menu.

I am not typically compelled to write reviews but I felt obligated to do so after reading a few bad ones. This is a small restaurant with a tiny kitchen. The food is made with experience and from what I can tell, good ingredients. The portions are not huge (order more) and the meals take a while (have a drink) so just be prepared for that and you will enjoy.

The best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. Very overpriced. All food was being taken from somewhere and put in a microwave. Saw this happening clearly from our table which was disappointing and unappealing especially when told its made fresh to order, was soggy...skip it.
