I have been looking for a place like this for a while. Quality ingredients and friendly staff. Had the chicken katsu and need to come back to try the rest of the menu.

Love this place. Great customer service, everyone there is super friendly and helpful - willing to prepare/cut meat as you require. Also helps that it's a great butchers with really good meats. Happy to pay what ends up being a small premium for the quality products and great service.

Ok, above and beyond is an understatement in what these gentlemen do day to day. First off the meat they sell is absolutely perfect. I keep buying rare cuts of meats because they are so epic. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. They have a HUGE selection, and their daily dishes and menu they have is far beyond amazing. BJ made me one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Then proceeded to charge me 7.00$ for it. I tried to tip him and he honestly told me that he would NOT accept any tip, no matter how much it was for. Which insane human doesn't accept a tip??? I went home down the street and ate the sandwich. My girlfriend listened to me enjoy the sandwich so much that she forced me to go get another one. I showed up 5 mins before they were about to close and begged BJ to make me another sandwich. I was happy to pay 20$ for my sandwich knowing full well I might not ever eat anything that good again. He charged me 7$ for the same sandwich but added bacon at my request. I reached for my wallet and realized in a hurry to get there before Stock in Trade closed I had left without my wallet. He immediately told me that it wasn't a problem and I could pay next time I came in. The shop in amazing, and everyone who wants great meat and exceptionally service needs to spend more time at SinT. Can't say enough amazing things about the gentlemen there. Favorite butcher shop of all time.

Stock n’ Trade or The Pieman Cometh Simple Simon met his Pieman sometime in the 15th century. It took Mother Goose another 250 years to immortalize that encounter on the printed page but as she had no smart phone available, the time lag is understandable. That she bothered to do so at all gives testimony to the importance of the meat pie in a society historically fascinated with obtaining creature-comfort and convenience. Plagues and freezing temperatures do not diminish our interest. They do, however, turn our pie-search into something almost heroic. When that happens, the source becomes almost as important as the pie itself. Galahad didn’t find his Grail at No Frills; ergo, I don’t want to find my pie there. That brings me to Stock N’ Trade, 307 Danforth Ave (at the corner of Bowden St.) It’s only one of several fine butchers in this part of town so the outstanding quality of its meats – locally, organically and humanely sourced – is not enough to make it an “escape”. That status comes from a variety of other factors. The shop has a pleasantly rustic character, with its wooden floors and furnishings, its chalkboard menus and its comfortable lighting. You relax upon entry. That’s all good, but it’s the young staff that make it a refuge. They produce virtually everything they sell. The butchery and the baking are all done in-house. They are knowledgeable, professional, pleasant and, above all, passionately committed to the quality of their wares and the happiness of their customers. That dedication to excellence is wonderfully evident in three ever-changing items: their lunchtime sandwiches, their rice bowls and, of course, their pies. All are creatively composed, substantial in size, very fairly priced and guaranteed to make your taste buds forgive you all previous crimes. That’s why the store has a local following that’s almost cultish. It’s also why their tortieres have become my standard Whiskey Tasting Night’s main course. Galahad took the Grail to Heaven. As the TTC doesn’t go there, I just took my pie home. There my friends and I agreed that it was close enough to heaven for the time being. Try them. You’ll agree. Cheers!

Aside from some the staff having phenomenal knowledge and taste in hip-hop the food is also great. BBQ pulled chicken rice bowl is a value deal. But when I say value I don't mean "oh yeah that was fuel and hit the spot but ya know the flavour wasn't really there" type of value. No I mean the quality and price are in harmony. Serving size is proper and the extras, well damn they put nuff pickled things in it to make me a happy man. Also Kanye is whack and Nas shouldn't have done that last album, what was he thinking.

Amazing sandwiches! Tasty, well priced and friendly staff - located behind 7Numbers off Danforth - they took over the back dining area. Had the Cubano $13 and Crispy Maple Pork (Japanese inspired Katsu style) $11 sandwiches. I remember going to their Danforth east location and their sandwiches and potato salad were delicious. Please try them out and support this great little shop.

The guys seems relatively likeable, and have always served good food at the East Lynn Farmers Market, so I don't get what that first reviewer's deal is...Unless he owns a $3 sandwich shop in Chinatown that's being run out of business--in which case, fair play.

I have been going to Stock in Trade since they opened and they are the ONLY butcher I will go to now. The quality of their meats are unbelievable and will convert any cheap-skate to buy local and sustainable. The taste and texture alone is worth the extra pennies. The staff and owners of SIT are SOOO friendly and knowledgeable. Not only do they have amazing meats but they advise you how to cook them! Which to me is worth it's weight in gold. I cannot rave enough about them and will be a lifelong customer.

Skip this place. This kid's work station is filthy, as is his appearance. He's battering tofu and chicken with his bare hands in the same bowl, while the generically apathetic, disheveled owner stands with her back to the customers, not helping at all. Hygiene does not seem to be of great importance to these two. After fifteen minutes, we finally received our order.The chicken had way too much sauce, and the fried chicken had absolutely no crunch. Also, the sauce they use tastes very similar to the donair sauce from fuzzbox down the street. The tofu was dripping with sauce, yet somehow managed to taste bland and boring. Both sandwiches were filled with bland pickled veg, as a substitute for the lack of protein they give you. A complete mess. We also tried a few sausages. They were salty, very thin, and the casings fell apart on the grill. Although I was initially excited to have another butcher in the 'hood, I was very disappointed with this place. You can get a much better sandwich in chinatown for half the price, and without the bored attitude. As for the sausage, try anywhere else. Do yourself a favor, and go anywhere else.

I've ordered twice now, it's phenomenal. Let me tell you about it. First order was a pickup. A couple of Denver steaks, which were perfect on the bbq. The skirt steak was replaced with a flank steak, which they called me in advance about since its wasn't up to their quality standards and wanted to offer me something else... who else would do that? Just awesome. The Flank steak was also excellent marinated for 4 hours and grilled. Also got some pork chops, which were tender and delish. Highly recommend all of those options, especially the Denver Steak! You'll love it. Second order was a skirt steak, which was just phenomenal carne asada-marinated and grilled... my wife absolutely loved it! Just finished some lemon garlic chicken thighs, which also we also grilled, and they came out just beautiful... a single order had more than enough for both of us. Delivery was prompt, as-promised and free! Everything has been so consistently fantastic I just had to write this review.

Stock in Trade has terrific customer service wonderful meat and sides. They also craft the BEST sandwiches ever. Their home made pastrami is other-worldly and the katsu and chicken sandwiches are terrific. Great burgers. The sandwiches are all so great it almost doesn't matter which ones are on offer. They are all great. Best family sized pot pies I have ever had. I can no longer make these at home; they will never be as good as theirs. So happy to have this gem in the neighbourhood!

these guys are great, if you know what you want you can custom order ahead of time over the phone! if you dont know, go in and see them, they have a wealth of knowledge and will butcher and trim exactly what you need. they also make great sandwiches and burgers, all on their in house made breads.

I've been a few times and have been very happy with the sandwiches. there is always something different and creative on the menu. In respect to the comment about cost being double than china town, they are only $6. i wouldn't trust that $3 sandwich, but maybe thats because I've worked in kitchens.

I have not driven down Gerrard Street in decades but found myself there at a time when lunch is always on my mind. I pulled over on a side street and Googled lunch near by. Stock in Trade came up first and I am lucky it did. Friendly service, a small sandwich menu and some bowls I think (mainly a butcher). I ordered a breaded pork sandwich that featured a just spicy enough slaw and pickle topping that was as good as I ever need a lunch to be.

Loving this place. Just went as an amateur to buying meats. Great patience throughout all my noon questions and I loved the selection in grass fed beef cuts. They had pricing listed which sometimes is rare. Prices are also great. I highly recommend to venture out here. They've got some side dishes as well that are all house made. Love it here
