Have you seen a transparent waffle? I have. The waffle I received barely had a structure as if they tried to make three waffles out of single-serving batter. They put just one teaspoon full of sauce which was not like what the pictures represented. The ice cream was completely freezer burnt and tasted nothing more than shaved ice. The food is a joke here. This place is an insult to the food industry. Edit: I sent an email to the head office at the same time I wrote this review. They NEVER reached out to me. I found ‘D spot desert cafe’ nearby. It’s awesome, go there instead!

This is a generic place with generic crepes-themed food. Toronto has better options for this type of food but the closest one is a few subway stops away. The prices on the menu are hard to find as they use the US number system, i.e. 12 3/4 instead of 12.75, and no $ sign. I'd have given them 3 stars, if not for the latter.

Expensive for very little food, food was below average and could be easily made at home by a 5 yr old. They just make the food look all nice and fancy. Don't go here if you want to spend $15 on waffles and ice cream.

Do you want fast service? Look no further! You need only visit Demetres Kingsway with your service dog, or your friend who uses one. Once you are seated by the host, the manager will try to escort your party to a different table in the corner - because "other guests may not want to sit beside a service dog team" - said as dog is perfectly tucked under our own table. Don't let this deter you though! After describing how, according to the Ontario Service Dogs Act and the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, by telling us to move he was discriminating against us, the manager begrudgingly told us we could stay where we were already seated. On the bright side, the food was ready in no longer than 1 minute (a new record for them!), it was delicious as always, and our waiter was very kind. We must have been in and out in under 20 minutes - as previously mentioned, if fast service is what you're looking for simply follow the aforementioned procedure. In the future, Demetres Kingsway: please educate your staff as a violation of Bill 80 warrants a fine up to $5000.

Went to this place with a bunch of friends, The place is super close to the subway station. We all called for cheesecakes. It was scrumptious but I do not think it was worth $15 One slice for $15 is a no for me. There was nothing extra ordinary about it. It just tasted like a normal cheesecake. The place is good and all but it’s too expensive. As far as I remember their menu cards did not include prices so BEWARE ???? before ending up with a hugeass bill

I had the worst experience at Demetre's Kingsway last Saturday evening (Jan 2nd, 2021). I informed the waitress/order taker that the drink they gave me had sugar so if they can change it as I am diabetic. The order taker assured me that my order did not have any sugar. I clearly informed them that I have ordered the same drink and I have been coming to Demetre's since 2002. Long story short, the order taker miscommunicated my order and they gave me the correct drink. My primary issue was with one of the staff members named Robert. Rather than deescalating the situation and acknowledging my concern, Robert proceeded to raise his voice at my friend and I. Robert accused my friends and I (fabricating my concern). Robert did not even take the time to listen to my concern. He immediately began to defend the his staff mistake. The health and safety of the customer should be the primary concern. The health and safety section of the Demetre's website outlines that the customer should take all necessary precautions for their safety. Robert proceeded to angrily ordered my friend outside of the cafe. My friend was simply advocating on my behalf. Robert appears to escalate a customer concern to a point which it could potentially get out of hand. I have tried to reach out to the owner or management of this location this week to express my concern but nobody was answering the phone so I have decided to post my experience. I have had a great experiences at this location in the past and it is disappointing that Robert did not believe my concern. The employee's actions were extremely unprofessional. Other staff I have encountered in the last 20 years have been amazing. I really hope this incident is a one-off. Nonetheless, it is important that Demetre's management provide the two individuals (Robert & Order Taker) mentioned above with customer service training to ensure that they unlearn their unconscious biases and preconceived notions. This kind of training will ensure that they treat everyone equally regardless of their skin colour.

Although it's a 30 minutes drive away from my house but definitely worth it. I think this is the best Demetre location I've been to. Clean, classy and comfortable. They are more generous with their chocolate and strawberries as well. Our server wasn't very friendly but one of the servers was very sweet and she kept checking with customers to see if they needed more water or not. Will definitely go again.

Took 11 year old twin boys. Service was amazing, quick, and respectful. Establishment was so clean and disinfected, we felt safe to enjoy our crepes. A bit pricey for someone on a budget, for three crepes $60.00 plus tip. But overall, excellent place for families to enjoy and create happy memories.

This popular desert restaurant is located in a cozy strip of stores that's beautiful to walk down on. The crepes and cake are delightful! The staff is fantastically friendly and the atmosphere is lively. Parking is a wee bit tight during peak hours but it's worth the search. We enjoyed our time here. Definitely a 'Friends' atmosphere! Will come back again!

It's hard to give a low review for desserts but my expectation for a dessert speciality place where most of their items on the menu is easy to make (and expensive) is high. The centre of ice cream (homemade) ball was frozen (crystallized ice), not smooth and creamy. The waffle was soggy/mushy. Service was annoying. We were bugged by the server constantly and felt pressure to leave after 20mins. The atmosphere is packed and cramped and has a very basic decoration. Ordered: Summertime Fatness Waffle with Brownies and chocolate ice cream

Ordered via uber eats- ice cream is excellent BUT be aware what they call a "pint" of ice cream is actually a pint container with SOME ice cream in it. I ordered 4 and they ranged from mostly full to about half full. One flavour was also quite freezer burned and full of ice crystals. Won't bother ordering again.

My husband and I went here and ordered a crepe on a Friday night. The ice cream was freezer burnt. We explained this to the waitress who seemed sympathetic and advised that she would get a new one. The manager then came over and advised that the ice cream was not freezer burnt as the ice cream had been made on Monday. He claimed that he had tried the ice cream and it wasn't freezer burnt. He seemed argumentative about the whole situation. He didn't seem to understand that perhaps some of the ice cream could be freezer burnt while the other may not be. Poor customer service skills from a manager. The waitress handled it appropriately. We were happy with the second crepe.

Amazing, amazing, amazing dessert!! I can't recommend it enough. They have huge portions - my husband and I had to split Cocoa Ono, which was a chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. It was sooo good, and even just eating half left me stuffed.

This place is by far one of my favourite dessert places. It has friendly staff, great desserts, and a wonderful atmosphere. The only reason I'm giving it a 4-star is the cost. It's not a big dealbreaker, but it is a bit expensive. The food portion is huge though so that's a good thing.

Service was good but I found price of $13.25 for a slice of cake is too exprnsive. With tax and tip comes to 18. Plus they had only 5 or 6 varieties of cakes. Last time i went there was 5 years ago. Probably this will be my last. There are so many cafeteria's with variety of pasteties that there is no reason to repeat.

This restaurant is the perfect place for coffee and dessert after a meal or a hard day at work. Each dessert is hand crafted and created to perfection. I ordered the crepe with Bananas and Strawberries over ice cream. I was able to make a substitute of the type of ice cream and unfortunately when it arrived at the table it was the wrong ice cream. The service was absolutely amazing as they were able to correct the issue and bring the flavour I ordered right away. The bathrooms are clean and as I stated the service was fantastic. Mistakes are sometimes made but the important thing is how you respond and how quickly you are able to correct them. There is amble parking in front, ag the side and also on the other side of the street! Great job Demetres staff! You now have a return customer.

Went in for ice cream. Staff working without masks within 6 inches of each other. Staff scooped ice cream while leaning over the bucket her face a foot away from the ice cream while she was talking to her coworker. Watched her push the ice cream with her hand onto the cone without gloves and not washing her hands before scooping. Told the manager/owner? that I didn't want the ice cream anymore and he asked why. My answer was that his staff were not following proper procedures. He proceeded to angrily tell me he could not give me my money back and that I shouldn't eat in restaurants . Since I work in the industry and know full well what procedures other restaurants are following, I will eat in restaurants and cafes and coffee shops, just never Demetres.

This place has been around forever. I remember it when I was in high school. It continues to draw people for their desserts and the location is great too. I like it for what it is but wouldn't say it's memorable in a distinct manner. Ice cream is great here. Does tend to draw a relatively young crowd. To finish off the existence of my dream land, a trail of light brown streaming hot mess topped off a perfect dessert on about in total, my 7th visit to Demetres. This experience was superior and fantastic. Great job to Jake and Barbara. I will always like Demetres. Ok gotta go until my next privilege..............hold up.....Barbara? Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyuuuuuuuuummm!????. ‘sigh’ worth the memory.

Its decent, the food is good and the staff is friendly, and it isnt TOO expensive. The only thing I do not like is the fact that on weekends it gets busy and many people bring their kids or their whole family, you end up sitting less than 2 feet away from another loud family, and there is absolutely NO privacy, not exactly the best place to bring a date, wouldnt impress anyone despite being a dessert place catering to those sorts of groups

Be their artisan ice creams, crepes & waffles with ice creams or sundaes, cakes with fruit, you are in for a treat the moment you read names like Daddy-O (honey vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce), Katy Berry (strawberry ice cream with belgian white chocolate sauce) and Ariana Sundae (coconut sorbetto, banana, maple coconut caramel sauce, praline croquant). I went after work hours and it was fairly crowded. Ambience settles your tiredness with the smell of fresh waffles. As I am a chocolate fan (die-hard), I ordered a Tongue Depressor which was Coco Chanel ice cream, fudge brownie pieces layered with French dark chocolate and Belgian white Chocolate Sauce. It was like a chocolate overload but it just went perfect. The only if I were to change would be to avoid crepes and prefer waffles to go along with it. Banana Split Personality was strawberry, honey vanilla and chocolate ice cream and was okay. I would choose other options if I were you. Overall it is a great place to take your sweet cravings for a ride. A typical dessert dish is enough for 2 unless you are really hungry and on a guilt-free trip! - SID

I didn’t really know what to expect from a sit-down restaurant that only served desserts. I was impressed. The service was very inviting. I even got to watch my desert being made from where I was sitting. The apple crepe I got tasted like an apple pie on steroids. The friend I was with got a Nutella milkshake. I didn’t even think of that as a possible menu item. Tasted delicious. We even had some laughs over the names of the dishes. Great place for the niche idea that it provides.

The wife and I stopped at Demetres and ate the apple crumble with white chocolate ice cream on a Belgian waffle. It was incredible. Everything was utterly delicious and not too sweet, and the even the waffle was tasty. It didn't taste doughy at all. We also shared an Americano with milk, and it was terrific. This location of Demetres is highly recommended.

I think this is my favorite GTA location so far. It's super clean and the staff is friendly. They're also super generous with the toppings and they were nice and fresh. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating was the set up of the cafe. The spot where we were seated makes it hard to see a server and for them to see you. Otherwise, everything was great. Went in on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty lively. We didn't want to stay long and luckily were seated right away. Staff came promptly with ice water and we ordered right way. Dessert came out quite quickly and portion sizes are huge! Great value. Paid and was out in great time. Great staff, great dessert. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely be back again.

This Caffe Demetre location has terrible service. Servers are cold, innatenive and slow despite the restaurant not being busy. They use a cheap Wellesley Apple Cider which is not real apple cider and charge $3.50 for what tastes like microwaved apple juice with a cinnamon stick. I wouldn't recommend Caffe Demetre since there are a bunch of local places in the neighbourhood who haven't compromised their product quality or service with delicious desserts.

Awful ice cream that tastes like you are eating heavy cream as it is overly fatty with zero flavour. The ice cream also has a icey texture from being defrosted and then refrozen. I wouldn’t expect that kind of poor quality from such an expensive ice cream shoppe. Will never be returning as you can get much better ice cream in the area.

The dessert that I had was good. I like it. However the seating of 6 people was not comfortable at least where I sat. They have small round tables but no square or rectangle tables which is better for groups of 3-6-8. That's the down side. The waitress there was nice but I got some little rude attitude for using their own pen to write name n phone number down from one of the waitstaff from r contact tracing. I guess it's my fault but I was trying to speed up the process. All in all I give it 6/10. I wanted to give 7 or 3.5 star. This location is not as comfortable sitting as Danforth bigger location.

It remains one of the best ice cream destinations in GTA. It's open until midnight which is a big bonus. I am a regular to the ones on Bloor St West, Danforth (Greektown) and the one at Mississauga. I never had a single issue so far except a bit of wait on weekend evenings after 9:30 PM because that's when everyone hammers this place for desserts. Trust the menu. Die in ice cream. Peace!

Great place to get your dessert fix. Lots of choices - cakes, ice cream, crepes, waffles with a bunch of drink options. The serving staff is hit or miss - some are awesome, others are sub-par. Also, expect a wait during peak hours, it's a happening place. One final point: the typography in their menu is quirky and fun - for all the design geeks out there!

There were only about 3 cakes on display, and the ice cream cookie sandwich I got was pretty terrible. If the cookie was homemade and warm it would taste much better. The service is mediocre too...I really don't appreciate when the waiter forgets to check up on you. I also don't like waiting for 30 minutes for the cheque, had to get up myself to go pay for it. Everything is extremely overpriced, I would recommend D Spot or Dunk n Dip...Their stuff is much fresher than the items at Demetres.

Good service, good staff. Portion control on cake slices is not always great. We noticed the slice of Chocolate Fudge Cake was much smaller than the last time we were there.
