We ordered take out for 6 people today for a work lunch. With the limited take out menu everyone was still able to find something they liked. All of the food was delicious. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star is that the Caesar Salad came without dressing. Not a huge deal. We will eat there again for sure.

Amazing service! Just think earl's vibe with better food + it is local! Their happy hours have great deals - some of the menu items being 50% off. They were one of the only restaurant who accommodated 7 people in patio area on the weekends and had happy hour at the same time! I recommend you to try the potato chips, nachos with pulled pork added to it. Their drink menu is also amazing - such a big selection!

It was a beautiful sunny evening for dinner, appetizer was so good, my margarita of lime and strawberry in 1 was delicious, my poutine was ehhh, very very small compared to how the poutine's used to be in size when it was Rockwood and the poutine is completely different not just in size but in flavour as well. Was good nontheless but absolutely nowhere nearly as good of how Rockwood's used to be.

Beautiful place with tasty food. Way better than Earl's with a beautiful patio and trendy vibe. Their wings were absolutely delicious, crispy and flavorful! The zingria, a sangria with berries and citrus is super amazingly refreshing. Also the crispy tofu bowl made with rice, peanuts, green onion, tomatoes and teriyaki sauce so good I wish I had more! Definitely worth the drive!

Went a few weeks ago with some friends. Ordered some apps and drinks. Apps were bland, the riblets were overcooked and sprinkled with Cajun seasoning, very bland and actually sad as this did not fit the description. The calamari had a fishy taste, the beat salad and cheese curds were decent. Friends mojito was horrible. But we decided not to complain as they were minor issues, and our friends don't like to complain. Dinner came out, and out of four dishes one person liked their fish tacos. Tuna bowl was not edible, tuna tasted bad, waitress got another dish perogi flatbread, totally soggy and covered in deep-fried onions, not how it was described. One bite and I was thrown off by how bad this tasted. Curry bowl had no flavor, lack of salt and seasoning. And chicken burger was tasteless. No one finished their meals expect person with fish tacos. Waitress knew I was unhappy with sending two dishes back and removed them from bill. Thought she would of notified manager about the negative experience coming from this table. Also to note, never had food come out of a kitchen so fast. We were not even half done apps and the food came within five mins, and we ordered food when we got apps. This tells me everything was premade, even a piece of chicken which must of been flash fried or warmed. We were there on a Saturday evening around 6 and restaurant was 2/3 full. Food should not come out this fast. After a week and hearing another person have a bad experience here I called and asked to speak with manager. I left my number and no call back. Called a week later and same thing, no follow up. Very disappointed this is how this business runs. Too bad the menu looked great. Also too bad they changed from a smoke House to this.

Booked a table well in advance on patio requesting heater and this was confirmed by staff. We received calls that table would be delayed but confirmed we would have heater. We went to restaurant, were sat at table without heater and promised one would come up shortly after we ordered a drink. Drinks took 20 minutes. We were told 5 times that a table was coming up throughout our stay which was very cold and uncomfortable. We kept getting told that people had reservations there which is why we couldn't go there...even though we explained, we had a reservation there. We dressed for the requested table and also requested it because one of us is very pregnant. We were there for 2 hours and never moved. Food was not good at all. Bruchetta had more mushrooms than tomatoes. Way too bunch fig jam on the brie and fig Flatbread. It was a sticky mess. We never received sideplates and were given one roll of cutlery for the whole table and asked multiple times before we got more. By this time, food was cold. Service was slow. If we had been told about all these troubles with the Reservation we would have gone somewhere else. Drinks were good.

This restaurant used to be called rockwood which was not very good. Now it is all new and so much more better. The food: super epic The drinks? Even more epic. Very very cute staff, my server checked on my table so many times and it was busy as heck. Really good recommendations and everyone was sooo smiley ????. Also everything is locally sourced with many local craft beers on tap!!! Food is so fresh and tastes crazy good. Thank you block and blade for changing my life and becoming my new most favourite restaurant.

We ate at Block and Blade in Sage Creek last evening. I had the crispy chicken and my husband had the burger. It was good, but I suggest adding some kind of sauce, as we found both sandwiches rather dry. The service was great and we did enjoy the meal for the most part!

Latest Review (Aug 7 2021): My last review was not super positive but I gave Block and Blade another shot and was VERY happy this time around. Our experience was exceptional, as was the food. The menu is much deeper than last time around, and they have more vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. I had the chicken burger, which ranks in the top 2 I've ever had (it has some heat), and my spouse had the Nasi Grain bowl which was very, very good. My guests had wings (which were cooked perfectly), and the creamy mushroom alfredo with blackened chicken. All was exceptional. I'm thrilled to have a local restaurant that I feel I can regularly frequent. Old Review (Oct 2020): I like that's its a local restaurant sourcing local ingredients. I also like that they use wood to smoke their food. That said, they took many items off the menu that were really good. Very limited menu for vegetarians and gluten free. More importantly, my wings were undercooked last time I went. Then we ordered in and the fish tacos made our guest sick. I'm disappointed because I really want to support my community restaurant. Hope things turn around. Serving staff is really friendly. ** Old Review **

Had opportunity to go to Block and Blade again last week. Was not disappointed. The food was excellent as was the service thanks to Quentin. I found it strange we couldn’t be seated at a table, only the bar even with reservations. The tables around us remained empty. I’m guess they were short staffed.

All the food was terribly overcooked. The waitress asked if my food was ok when I ate one bite out of the chicken burger at the end of the meal and couldn't honestly say it was good to her. She never apologised at all, just walked away. I then paid full price and tipped my 15% for the fries I ate and would recommend nobody to eat there unless they like burnt, dry food.

I am very disappointed. We know these are tough times due to the pandemic... however this is no excuse to such service. We booked a reservation (days in advance) for my parents to enjoy my mom's birthday celebration to only have the front host say that there aren't any tables available ready for them... to have other guests seated before them WITHOUT reservations... They finally get seated and the whole restaurant for dine in is basically empty. Waiter did not even have the table set up for them as they sat down. Their original server disappeared out of no where, did not even check up on them and just clocked out. They ordered appetizers, drinks and their main course. Appetizers were cold and dirty plates were left on the table while they ate their main course. There were no cutlery available for their main course. The vegetables were cold. Steak was cooked to the solid of well done when asked for medium. The waiter, host or any staff available did not even ask if its their first time there, a special occasion or what brings them out to dine in. No one checked up on them or even offered more drinks or desserts. Felt like they just wanted them to leave. Other tables were accommodated very well and it is sad to say that they felt discriminated because of their colour. I wish we were there so we could speak up for them as soon as we knew my parents felt disgusting in your restaurant. The menu and ambience of the restaurant looked great as to why we chose this place to celebrate for them. If we knew the patio would be a better option for better service and food, i wish someone told us before sending our parents here to celebrate after a long day of work. First time and this will be the last. Please do better with your customer service. We know patio days can be busy but its best to ensure both types of dine ins get the same type of service.

Myself and a co-worker were in Winnipeg for three months. The Block and Blade was a recommendation from our Air BnB. When we showed up we were pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding and the service even better. The drink selection was top notch. Within the three months we were there we visited often (at least 2-3 times a week). The staff remembered us and treated us to some of the most courteous and friendly service that I have ever experienced in my 49 years. As someone that travels about 9 months a year it was very appreciated. On a personal note I would like to thank all the outstanding people that I met at this gem. We used to go to Rockwood frequently prior to covid. My mother bought the whole family $100 gift cards. We moved out of the city & due to covid we haven't been out to a restaurant in over 2 years. We decided we would use the GC tonight since we won't be going into a restaurant for a while still... our other family members were able to use their GCs after the name changed. I had even called a month ago to confirm we can still use it. We were turned away by the "manager" when arriving to pick up the food saying there's new owners that don't honor the GC. She seemed unapologetic & quick to hurry me out. I asked what will happened with the food then because this was a treat for us & I don't have cash or credit for it.. she didn't respond, I asked if she would at least give it to the staff but she didn't respond. So my mother lost 100$ for supporting them & we lost out on our first dinner "out" without the kids.. Will not be supporting the new name.

Great place we just discovered. Nice environment and food was very good. The mains are high in price and that's not because I feel they are over priced, I'm just poor ????. They have a good amount of meals in the middle price range and I'd go back for that. Service was a little slow but our server was kind and working very hard.

Sat on the patio. First was told we only had 90 mins to dine. At 1330 there were not many people there. Meal took 40 mins to arrive. The patio was filthy. Food on the ground, napkins and paper blowing around. Inside restaurant french fries squished on the floor. There when I arrived and still there when I left at 90 minutes. Not very happy and probably will not return. Also did not have some menu items available.Give this place a pass.

Fantastic! Stopped in Sunday for lunch and we were very impressed. The food and service were outstanding. The cheese curd appetizer was the best we have had since being in Wisconsin! The burger was so very good, and the fries were unbelievable. The Thai Curry Bowl was very tasty and was a large portion for sure. Wine and beer selection was also excellent. Thank you to Madison for her very good service. Spoke to Chad C. as we walked out to compliment him on his excellent restaurant. He seemed very involved in the operations - no wonder they are successful. This is a “must visit” restaurant in Winnipeg.

Finally got to check out the inside of Block and Blade! We had such a great dinner and were so excited to try some items from the new extended menu! We absolutely loved the lettuce wraps and the potato crisps! So glad we saved room for desserts because we were obsessed with the salted caramel chocolate tart!

The B&B staff were awesome and friendly, meals and atmosphere were great. So grateful to be able to enjoy a night out to support local business’s that have had such a rough ride! Was there for a Christmas dinner party on December 17, 2021 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The service was top notch and the food was great. I had the Blacken chicken breast and rib combo and it truly didn't disappoint. The ribs were tender and tangy and the chicken was fantastic! Tons of grilled vegetables are included, along with your choice of potato, pilaff, soup or salad. I did not leave hungry because the portion sizes were huge. Very tasty drinks as well and appetizers. I'd come here for dinner again and would recommend the restaurant.

The food was good, unfortunately our waitress was vacant for the majority of our time there. We placed our order with her, got the food quite quickly however missing our appetizers. By the time we saw our waitress again it was about 20 minutes after we had received our meals and drinks. We had our dishes pilled nicely on the edge of the table to polity signal that we wanted to pay the tab and leave. Thankfully another waitress was kind enough to take those away for us. I look forward to coming back and hopefully receive better service. Keep up the great work, very well furnished and decorated.

It was our first time visiting. We tried the fried chicken week special. It was ok. Ok only due to travel time to get home to enjoy it (probably better hot from kitchen) But their regular menu items were really good. The veggie burger... yum! I’m not a vegetarian and I’d order that next visit! The onion rings are really good. The Caesar salad was fresh and good but not my favourite dressing (think horse radish is in it) but I’m fussy with that flavour. I would still love to try their other menu items as they look really good. 4/5. Front desk guy was great and the note left on the bag was sweet.

First time at this restaurant yesterday. It was a great experience. We sat on the patio, enjoyed a couple pints and some delicious lunch. Nice to go to a restaurant that actually prepares food from scratch. They were following all Covid protocols and I felt very safe the entire visit. Lots of local draft options. Its also nice to support a locally owned business. We will be back for sure. A real cute manager visited our table and made sure we were having a great experience. :)

I really dig the ambience of this place, all the wood furnishings look great. We came for burger week but we will be back for sure! The cocktails we had were alright, and the prices were reasonable. Our server, Chris, was on point. Very fast and courteous, and even took our simple mention of our anniversary to heart, bringing us a complimentary carrot cake!

I ordered the brisket sandwich and fries to go.I went in they wouldn't except cash so i paid 3 dollars more then the total no big deal, the food was terrible almost to the point i didnt eat it but I was hungry so I did. sage creek needs better options. also in my opinion the old rockwood or whatever it was called was just as bad if not worse so some improvement. 1.5 stars update: the manager reached out and offered me a credit towards another meal...glad I gave a second chance!!! had the burger, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best I've ever had! wow! im actually blown away with that burger can't say enough good things. ill be back for sure.

Our wonderful waitress Sophie was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us time to decide and shared what would be a good drink to have on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious! We had the bruschetta, tuna bowl and burger which were all extremely flavourful we will definitely come back. Sophie even came to apologize about the wait for the food even though the wait was not that long! We appreciated that gesture. We were sitted in time, and our servant came to us right away.Also, we have been waiting for our order no more then 15 mins.However, the floor and couches were a bit messy. I thought everything we ordered was phenomenal. We ordered the ribs which had a wonderful smoke flavour, the perogy pizza was awesome second to none, the burger was delicious, the fries and gravy were so good. And the price was really fair too. I just ordered takeout but when I went inside to pick it up the place looked really upscale and I was really impressed by the looks of it and the service I got when the food came out. Late afternoon patio service is slow. 3 visits in a row it took 20-30 minutes to get a simple draft to our table and it was not busy. Keep going back because of the convenient location but service is lacking. The evening inside dinner service is better. Food is decent and the prices are reasonable for this type of restaurant. Staff is nice and it’s clean inside.

We had eaten at the previous restaurant at this location before and weren't really impressed. Tonight we ordered takeout, onion rings 5*, quesadilla probably the best one I have ever eaten, tuna bowl excellent and our daughter loved the MacnCheese. Best take out meal in months.

Once upon a time in a land called Sage Creek. There was a set of handsome set of twins from the Baldini family. They had been on a 15 year quest to quench their thirst with the finest of mountain waters in the prairies. They stumbled upon a watering hole named after the ancient indulging ritual called Block & Blade. A fine maiden assisted in their journey named after the ancient dancing queen Ciara and the majestic mountains Sierra, called Cierra. The great Cierra served these fine mountain warriors the best pints they had ever layed their lips upon. The twins feasted upon the liquid of the gods from such pioneers as Transcanada, Farmery, 1919, and Banded Peak. Their lives forever changed they decided to dedicate the rest of their lives to spreading the good word of Block & Blade and the maiden Cierra so that all may rejoice in this local treasure that shall benefit the world! Seriously though you should eat and drink here!

The rules are you can dine inside if unvaccinated if you are from the same household, in manitoba and posted on their website. Well they had lots of space inside but wouldn't seat us because we didn't have vaccination cards, and the patio was too full we got turned away.

This was our second visit to Block and Blade. A restaurant that features local fare and with great flavour. The appetizer of the Manitoba cheese curds is is great for the featured product of deep fried cheese curds in a light batter but is made by the accompanying tomato based dipping sauce which is freshly made in house The pickerel and chips (pictured) was fresh and cooked perfectly but a bit more greasy than many beer battered fish and the fries were slightly underdone which may mean their frying oil was too cool. The other main pictured is their mac and cheese - although this version was without their bread crumb parmesan crust. They use a great blend of cheeses included a beautiful smoke flavour. The one disappointing main we ordered was the $37 New York Steak. While it was cooked to the perfect doneness, the whole order left a number of things to be desired. In the steak itself, it appears to have been cooked by a sous vide method and finished on a grill, which was great for doneness but it had a large and completely unrendered fat cap making parts of it unappetizing and inedible. It was also notably only seasoned on one side making for uneven flavor. The steak was to come with a red wine jus on top according to the menu, what arrived was a LARGE mass of gloppy, skinned over and over thickened gelatinous gravy underneath the steak. We were actually glad they didn't put it on top! The chosen starch of herb potatoes and side of seasonal vegetables were excellent but couldn't rescue this dish. Even if all was good, it seems slightly overpriced at $37 and we felt a $30 or $32 price point fit better. In addition to the excellent service and atmosphere, one thing that keeps you coming back is the creme brulee. A delight if a dessert we have had both times with the perfectly textured ultra smooth custard with a hint of lemon. The sugar crust on top was perfectly caramelized without the slightest hint of burned flavour that one often receives in a creme brulee. Despite the steak missteps we would return.

The service was terrible because we ended up having a server that was had her second shift and she had no idea what she was doing and she was so slow the bartender made her drinks and they’re sitting there for 10 minutes he easily could’ve run our drinks out of us the food on the other hand was not even really good for how much money you were paying for it I got the Thai curry and it taste freezer burnt and the lettuce wraps were pretty good the mushroom caps also tasted a little freezer burnt everything just wasn’t good I definitely would not go back though but the drinks are OK

I loved how friendly and helpful the service were and how they handled covid 19 social distancing practices as it made it feel much safer. The fried cheese curds were absolutely amazing and I'd order them again however the poutine was actually cold (even with the gravy) and the burger was way too thick in the centre and because it was like an upright cylinder, it didn't even fill out the whole bun and I had to squish it hard to even take a bite. The taste was decent it just needs better presentation for the price they are charging. If I'm paying over $15 for a single burger it better be perfect every time.

One star because I didn’t have an option for a lesser rating. Wanted to come in this evening for dinner, however we were told by the very rude hostess that because we didn’t have a reservation, we could not be served; this is mentioned NO WHERE on your page. We also had to approach her after she tried speaking to a couple that arrived after us. This is the third time we have been less than impressed with this restaurant, we were honestly hoping that with new ownership things would improved, it is very obvious to us that this isn’t the case. There will certainly not be a forth time and just a suggestion; send your hostesses to, oh I don’t know, the Keg or anywhere for that matter for customer service training,

The pulled pork pouitne was cold, so cold that the cheese curds didn't melt. I complained and they brought it back to me with more gravy over top of it , so much in fact that it was a poutine soup. My wife had the macaroni it was alright nothing special. On a positive note The beers were cold. the two stars represents the cold beers.

I'm a regular at this restaurant ever since I've tried the ribs and chicken combo and loved it. I've tried ordering yesterday and both girls on the phone couldn't understand what I was saying after repeating myself over and over. It was so frustrating because I order food here every weekend and never had this issue. Called twice to confirm my order just to get there to get the wrong meal. The food I received tasted disgusting and cold, the french fries were all soggy and cold. Had to garbage it all at home. Such a waste of money!

This place was very busy on a Friday night. Be sure to make a reservation if you plan to go. The service was very good and attentive. With that said, that's where the good times ended. Heads up if you order the lettuce wraps. Instead of serving a lettuce cup of a good variety such as a leaf lettuce or butter lettuce, romain was served which was flimsy and had tears in it with big stems on the end. This made it almost impossible to put together a wrap and keep it together to eat. I ordered the perogy flatbread. The menu description led me to believe I'd get something that resembled the flavour of a perogy on a flatbread. What I got was more like a spiced onion ring platter on a crust with nacho sauce (apparently it's aioli). So fail.... Another member at my table ordered the Thai curry bowl. The first ingredient on the menu for this item was bokchoy. No bokchoy was actually in the dish. There was a cheaper substitution of celery which unfortunately my friend should not be eating due to a non anaphylactic allergy. The third main was a salmon which came out cold. We did not complain as it was out first time there and I guess that's how it is. We also were just were hungry and wanted to eat and leave. We like to try new places but this one just isn't for us. As my friend put it, "seems like the want to be an Earl's or Joey's but the quality and standard of food just isn't there."

This is my favorite place to be! Staff are amazing, and the management is so personable. Its amazing they were able to stay positive throughout the lock down and keep up their optimistic attitude. They treat all their customers like family and the food is AMAZING! If you check out one place this year, make it block and blade.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday. I've been to this location in the past in a prior incarceration and have enjoyed it. This was my first time since the rebranding. I will say the serving staff were great, can't commend them enough. I will also comment the patio, it's a very nice space and have good Covid spacing. The menu reads well, with good looking options, unfortunately that's all the highlights I can recall. I do very much recall that the food took a long time to be served, and it wasn't even busy. It also didnt come out at once. By the time I got my plate it was 20 minutes after the first plate had made it to the table. And we were only a party of 4. I would also single out that the tofu bowl probably needs a little work. Rice and cubes of tofu that were drowning in, what I can best describe tasting like president choice teriyaki sauce. All in all, room for improvement.

Had no problem with the patio reservation and were happy to be out on a nice day. The waitress seated us but we didn't get water for at least 10 minutes. There were few parties on the patio, so it didn't seem terribly busy. When taking my order, I specified that I couldn't have the cream they drizzle on the roasted red pepper soup. The waitress asked if it was an allergy and made a note. Later, the soup arrived with cream clearly on top. Even worse, there was a two-inch black hair in the soup. Not interested in going to a restaurant that doesn't properly handle food nor take allergies seriously.

This place was fantastic, We were greeted with 4 fabulous smiles and a cheerful welcome. The seating was quick and and in minutes our waiter was on the spot , Fast, friendly,cheerful,relaxing, an overall great night out with my wife. The steaks were absolutely cooked to order, and so tender and juicy. The Cold beers were appreciated and my wife enjoyed The white sangria. The food was awesome and the fiddleheads were a surprise, WELL DONE. We will definitely see you again. Can’t wait to try something different. The steaks rocked!!

Perfect place to sit on the patio and enjoy some local food! We were looking to support a local restaurant so we loved that this restaurant is locally owned and operated. With the beautiful weather we were so excited to finally enjoy it and sit on the (clean & socially distant) patio. We loved how clean and spread out all the tables were! We felt safe and knew we could just focus on the awesome food and drinks. We tried the amazing Vegetarian burger & fish tacos! Both of them were delicious! Make sure you get the yam fries! So good!

On our way home from a trip to Ontario, we stopped in here to meet up with family as we passed by Winnipeg. We were all new to this place and it seemed pretty fancy; and it was. The building is beautiful and is located in a nice area of Winnipeg. We had lunch and the servings were quite large for the price. We had a good meal and left full. I had the chicken sandwich and it was full of flavour and filling, which was what I needed. He had the burger and explained it was the best burger he has ever had. Great service to go along with the great food at a decent price. Would love to stop back if I am ever in Winnipeg again. I recommend you try it too.

I would give Block and Blade a higher rating. But we have order take out a number of times, and every time but once we have had missing items. We always went back to get missing items but never offered compensation for having to go back. Food is always good though.

Have gone to this place 10 times at least. They have changed their name and staff and we still came. It’s nice and staff has always been excellent. Last two times have been bad food and bad service. They removed a number of items of the menu that were good. The 4 of us tried 2 appetizers, dry ribs and bruschetta. Bruschetta wasn’t bad, just ok. Ribs were hard as rock like the were cooked hours prior. The entrees consisted of fish and chips that were excellent. Bacon cheese burger was cold and over cooked. Fettuccine with shrimp had no flavour. The steak was ok but the potatoes and vegetables were ice cold. The chocolate Carmel cheese cake tasted and looked like something out of the freezer section at Safeway. The sangria was tasteless. (Red wine with a slice of orange in it). Long Island ice tea looked great but not very tasty. The servers were very friendly and bubbly. They just couldn’t remember the water that had to be asked for 4 times and butter for the vegetables 3 times. I am not one that normally complains and I post excellent reviews as deserved, so I thought I should post this bad review.

Server was good, we got sat on the not heated patio, with no one else there, and when we asked if could be moved when there was an opening they said we would be first on they list, but people who came after our group, got seated there, and we over heard them say they didn't have a reso. So that was disappointing.. The food was decent, my boyfriends chicken breast was slightly pink in parts. But drinks were great.

I've ordered take out 3-4 times in the last month or so and each time my husband or I have had to wait at least 30 extra minutes to get our food from the time it was supposed to be ready. The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Won't be ordering from here anymore.

This is my first time visiting this establishment and I don't plan on returning in the future. When we arrived at the restaurant, we waited 30 minutes for 2 waters and 2 drinks and the server also didn't take our food order until after she gave our drinks, 15 minutes is ample time to order food. When she returned, she messed up one of the drinks ordered and ordered us an extra drink accidentally. I understand mistakes happen, and she said this was her first week, however when we politely stated she mistakenly messed up the order, she began to argue with us and become more hostile while other customers were watching. I didn't want to press the issue further as I was embarrassed about the situation. We ended up taking the extra drink, spent roughly about an hour and 15 waiting for food, and then paid our bill and left.
