A very nice place. It has a very pretty and quaint atmosphere with a small amount of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. The view of the riverfront is beautiful. The food however is okay, nothing amazing and the prices are a little high. You're paying for the view. If your walking along the waterfront, it may be worth your time to check out. They've got sandwiches and other light meals of that sort.

Quick note before my review: There was a “Yelp Check-in Offer” here that I missed out on because I checked in after I ate and was already stuffed by then, it was for a free Bistro Bruschetta. So just check your Yelp Mobile for Check-in Offers before you order :)! Now for the review: As a visitor to the Detroit/Windsor area I was happy to have lunch at The Bistro at the River. Located just steps from Riverfront Trail it’s the perfect place to take in the river and Detroit Skyline. They have a good sized patio as well that would be pretty ideal for a warm day, but unfortunately it was a rainy day so we headed inside. Inside is fairly small but feels open and quaint. The décor is pretty basic but still on the classier side. It was quiet on our visit, but on other occasions availability might be tougher. As this is located right on the Riverwalk you will have to pay for parking in the adjacent parking lot. The menu is a decent size and has a good selection of items including sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pizza, pasta and entrees. The Pasta and Entrees are only served during evening hours (I believe it was past 5:00pm). Drink menu was a bit on the smaller end but still adequate. Prices are very affordable but can range a little higher on a couple entrees. I went with the Buffalo Caesar Wrap with Fries and my Fiancée had the Penne Ultimate Mac & Cheese with a side salad. Although her item was from the evening menu, our server checked with the kitchen who went ahead and made it anyways since they weren’t busy, a nice courtesy that I had to note! The wrap was very salty which made it a bit off-putting, fries were good. The side salad was a bit heavy on the Balsamic but the Penne Mac & Cheese was good and the winner at the table, very happy they made the exception. The garlic bread with it didn’t add much and was dry. Food was average, prices were good, service was good and the view was great. Decent experience, I’d go again, preferably on a warm day. Something about being there on a dreary day made it less inviting.

The Bistro was the first place I went to when I arrived in Windsor, and the warmth of the staff and quality of food and service gave me an excellent impression of the city. With safety protocols in place, I felt comfortable sitting in the patio. Despite the changes that have to be made in the operations of every diner, the staff was extremely patient and helpful. I'm excited to come back the next time I'm in town!

My husband and I both work within 5 minutes of this restaurant. We brought lunch but decided to take a physical break from work on our 1 hour lunch break and go out. We chose this restaurant because they advertise "express lunch specials". We went and sat outside on the patio. There were 2 other tables with a total of 3 other guests. We had researched the menu before we went to save time. The server came and we ordered lunch immediately. We waited approximately 45 minutes before I decided to go inside to check the status. I told the server to have our order in take out trays as we had to get back to work. After she brought our containers, we got up to leave and realized she had given us the table next to us, their order. We then had to wait again. We got back to work 5 minutes late, my wrap was beyond soggy, and well as POURED out a watery sauce that ruined the entire container, let alone the other half a wrap. This was so disappointing; we should have stuck to our plan and just had the lunch we brought to work. The server was apologetic, but the experience, and the food was awful.

The wait time was unacceptable, I had to give our server the stink eye three times to get any service. Was pretty sure that it was a racial issue because the other table of South Asians also had horrible service. Food was good, but I'm not sure if I would go there again.

Before me and my girlfriend had our anniversary dinner, we went in with an open mind about the place. We came in at 6:30 on a Wednesday, not too busy, and we were promptly seated and waters and menus were provided. We ordered an appetizer of chicken wings(mild) with the dip on the side. The wings were very good with a balanced taste between heat and mild. I ordered the chicken parmesan, and my girlfriend had the lasagna. My portions were fairly plentiful and enough given how much the meal cost. The salad that came with it appeared fresh and the greens were delicious. My girlfriend ordered the lasagna, and it was a fair amount of food considering how much it cost. We clearly weren’t cheated on the food that was ordered. I also had the Cabernet with my chicken parmesan, and it was full bodied and flavorful. We both enjoyed the views of Detroit across the river. It was wonderful. Overall, I think the restaurant did well, but I’m only giving them a small ding to their review for being maybe a little too pricey, and I admittedly tried to order what was probably in their wheelhouse. They did a fantastic job. Very good.

Very disappointed in our dinner last night. There was 6 of us with a reservation time of 5:45pm. The waitress was told that we had a show to attend at the Cleary. Drinks along with appetizers and meals were ordered at 6:00 and at 6:25 we had to go to the bar to ask where our drinks were, they were finally delivered at 6:30. Let me add...the place was not busy. Appetizers arrived about 5 mins after our drinks and at 7:20 we had to ask where our meals were as the ahow we were attending started at 8:00. Meals were finally delivered at 7:25, we asked for boxes and bills at this time as we knew we had to hurry. All of our dishes were slightly warm if not cold. When the waitress was questioned she said she would check with the cook as to why. When she came back with the debit/credit machine we asked her what the issue was and was told that they were waiting for one dish in order to bring out the rest. This would have been believed had one of the six been piping hot. She had no reason for why the food was cold. When asked for the manager we were told that there wasnt one on site.

I visited this establishment a few months back and was horribly disappointed. They were understaffed, there was a large 12 person table that was empty, vutcnot cleared before we arrived and was untouched until minutes before we left. The food was sub-par, except the mushroom soup, it was really, really, good. The views are good, but for the service and food received for the price I paid we with not visit Bistro At The River again.

The staff is friendly and nice, the food is not good at all. We ordered a burger and a chicken avocado sandwich with salad and a poutine. The burger was by far the worst burger I have ever had. It smelled and tasted like rotten raw meat, so we only had a bite and it was more than enough to leave the rest of it in the plate. The chicken sandwich was eatable, but it had absolutely no taste. Believe me, it’s not worth the money, and time. The poutine was funny, show this poutine to a Québécois person and see the reaction.

We were hear visiting and stopped in to eat at this cute little bistro on the river. What a disappointment. We ordered turkey bacon clubs and my boyfriend ordered a drink. We waited 40 minutes for our food and we had to remind the waitress about the drink. When we received our sandwiches, my first bite was nothing but tough gristle. The bacon was a rolled up ball at the end of my sandwich. Thank goodness it was a low price lunch. Would not eat here again.

Me and my friends just left because we were told to seat ourselves at 6:20pm today. We waited until 6:55pm until we left and went to Loose Goose because NO ONE served us. The buss boy gave us water and menus and that’s the last time someone spoke to us. A woman that sat after us received her drink and as we were leaving was getting her food order taken when we didn’t even get looked at. Extremely disappointed.

Had friends in from outta town and brought them here to enjoy the veiw. Wow. Server took for ever. And spilt drinks on 2 of us. Had an expresso that was cold and full of grinds. Caesars were done with no salt celery or lime . Wings were wrong and dryed out. As we were there we seen other customers leave and complain. So sad

We were a party of four and waited about half hour for some delicious soup. The entrees took another 45 minutes to be served. Much to long for a casual restaurant. Food temperature was like it had been sitting for awhile. Be sure to check your bill. We found an error after we were credited for one entree that was not incomplete. Wait staff was pleasant but didn't check to see if everything was alright until we were mid-meal. Restaurant was relatively clean except for one table where a child had been sitting. Bathroom was immaculate. So sorry Tunnel Barbeque has closed.

Windsor’s best patio! Amazing views of the Detroit River & Skyline. The addition of the new Canadian Flag really fits well. Drinks are made very well and are always a good choice for this wonderful patio! Enjoyed a delicious pitcher of Sangria with friends and cannot wait to go back for more. Really great seafood pasta options, nachos were a great size. Bruschetta was also delicious! Prizes were fair especially for a spot with such a great view! Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Windsor’s best view, a nice relaxing drink outside or anybody looking for a good bite!

Had a nice quiet early valentines dinner with my fiance. Service was great and the food was even better! Waitress was prompt and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Seen all these reviews of people getting slow service but I would assume that's because there's only one waitress and one chef. And even if I had to wait the food was so worth it. Definitely recommend!

My investors and I were pondering the riverside area and so I decided to go into normal clothing this evening to take a glance on the menu. The doors were opened and the waitress failed to greet me. No problem. Next, I've requested a glance at the menu, she automatically said "We're closed". I was like "I'm aware just needed the menu and you failed to comply with my request". The gentleman apologized and passed the menu a simple request, but I decided to decline reviewing the menu and told him that her behaviour is very unprofessional. They shouldn't hire kids. We're definitely not going to invest in this city. Anything good in this city is not deserved because it's ruined by illiterate people that have no customer service experience. Thanks to that sassy waitress, we'll not visit this restaurant and we gave it a Zero out of Five to the news reporter. Next time train your staff some professionalism. Despite that, manners come #1. Do not approach this restaurant. Seeing the reviews, it'll shut down soon.

$16.99 for boxed calamari on old wilted greens and $18.99 for microwaved nachos. I’ve never written a bad review before and I doubt I ever will again because this was definitely one of the worst meals I’ll ever have. The view, drinks, and decent waitress was the only thing stopping me and my boyfriend from leaving mid meal. Definitely do not recommend for anything other than drinks and a nice view. The owner does not care about food quality and it really shows. As we walked away we noticed that literally no one else ordered food (aside from one lady with a salad and fries), they were clearly the smart ones...

I came in for lunch and my experience was less than stellar. I don't like to do this sort of thing but I feel like the establishment could use some feedback. My waitress may have been quite busy and seems like the restaurant was understaffed. However she was not knowledgeable about the beer menu. She ended up bringing me the wrong meal and blamed it on her being busy. I was hungry so I accepted it. After that she proceeded to tell the table sitting next to me how she had just broken up with her boyfriend last night and this is why she is a mess and pointed at me saying that she served me the wrong sandwich. I found it very unprofessional. I don't necessarily blame this waitress but I feel like management could be holding their service up to a higher standard. Especially with a location and ambiance like this. Also no complaints from the food end I enjoyed my meal very much.

I was just traumatized. I have not been to this establishment before and came here for a cup of coffee. The doors were closed and there was a water stand with cups and water pitchers near the door. I didn’t see anyone and thought I could pour myself a glass of water. Before I could take a sip, a woman came out yelling at me and rudely asked what I was doing. I was shocked and confused. I said I wanted to get a cup of coffee but the doors were locked. She yelled at me to put my mask on and that I couldn’t have the water. I was shocked that she yelled at me like that. I had my mask in hand and was outside. She then rudely told me to sit down and she would help me when she was finished. She said she was the manager but would not tell me her name. I set my glass of water down and left. I am beyond disgusted that someone would treat a guest like that. It is appalling and inexcusable. I thought the water was for everyone and didn’t think I was not allowed to it. Even so, she simply could have said so without attacking and being rude. She should be fired. I am absolutely disgusted that someone in the service industry could treat another human being that way.

My boyfriend and I went for a quick 9pm snack after a walk down the river front. We were greated promptly at the door but then the person pawned off seating us to someone else who then pawned us off again, only for the third person to just tell us to sit where ever. We were then forgotten about and a waitress had to apologize and take our table even though it wasn't in her section because our server hadn't shown up yet. The server that did take care of us was very kind and did an excellent job getting our drink. We ordered a nacho, a dish that should take less than 15mins to prepare as it's an appetizer, unfortunatly took 30 mins to get to the table. There were maybe 6 other tables there at the time. When the nachos did show up, they were obviously burnt and there were no jalapenos on it and no olives. We gave up on the experience and immediately asked for our bill and the box. We will not be returning.

This place is awesome! My wife and I were visiting Windsor for two days, and we ate here both nights. The food is excellent, the servers are friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the riverfront location is amazing. The Bistro at the River was one of the highlights of our visit.

Still the server just asked for drinks. ... How long do people take to decide on food at this place ?? Post 3. We order and Whoa.. it started to rain.. glad they had place indoors.. +1 star Post 4. I’m feeling very unimpressed with this place sadly, because I have been wanting to go there for few years. Things may have been different pre-covid, but the service began out great, and the whole table agreed it was great, but by the end the entire table was very unimpressed with the service we received. It took us forever to get our bills, and sadly I was very disappointed with my meal. On a positive note, the others at the table enjoyed their meals, next time I’ll make sure to order differently, also keep in mind in this review that it was only a specific patio covid menu, not their full menu.

I had lunch on 2019/08/09 and service is terrible. I got served later than the customers who came in after me. I ordered a beer with my meal and it didn't come. They even charged me for the beer and they had to take it off the bill. They charged me gratuity automatically. There was no mention of that on the menu.

Summary: Long wait for terrible food. Minestrone Soup without Minestrone (How?!). Only a decent drinking spot. Like many people, I was fooled by the nice riverside view. Expecting some decent food, I sat down with my family. We ordered 2 classic bistro burgers, 2 minestrone soups, one perch wrap, and one steak sandwich. For a family, we were expecting the wait to take a reasonable amount of time, however we ended up waiting a whole hour for our food! We noticed another table, which was being cleaned up, left a Hamburger after one bite, now we know why! When the food arrived, we discovered the two burgers were ridiculously dry and incredibly charred. Every bite tasted like charcoal and was really unpleasant. When we got to our Minestrone soups, the soup of the day, the broth was really bland, lukewarm, and watered down. We noticed while eating our soup that there wasn’t a single piece of minestrone pasta, which is literally what makes a minestrone soup! The rest was ok. At the same time we got our food, another family who’d arrived long before us got their food... 3 salads! Ridiculous. We pointed out to the manager our issues with the soups and burgers, after which she became very defensive, implying their food was high end. In retrospect, we should have realized all the tables with no food and giant glasses of sangria. Overall, its a terrible lunch spot, and we will definitely not return.

I went to meet a friend for dinner across the US border. It's paid parking, but not obvious if you didn't know. My friend paid but machine would not take enough money so I got a $17 CAD parking ticket. Worse, I ordered a "Fresh Berry Salad" which is listed on the menu as fresh berries, pineapple, almonds, goat cheese, etc. for $13.75. Menus were taken away, so I didn't think too much about it at first, but what I RECEIVED/ate was a green salad with nothing but CRANBERRIES, pineapple and a few slivers of almonds. Talk about a disappointing, overpriced and unsatisfying dinner. I was still hungry afterwards. Since when are cranberries "fresh berries"??? Very overpriced and disappointing. What a waste of time and money. The only thing good about was the view...until the shades were pulled. What a ripoff!

Worst service and horrible food which is much too pricey! I ordered a salad and a coffee. My coffee had chunks of dried old coffee so I returned it! The waitress brought me another in a dirty cup!! I gave up on the coffee! The salad was this tiny serving of flavorless lettuce and beans! Yet they have the best view in the city!! What a shame ????

If I could give it 0 stars I would. They decided to "close the kitchen early" and has been closed for an hour" even though they were putting down a plate of food just as we walked in, over an HOUR before they were supposed to close according to their website and sign on their door. Poor form. If you are going to close early on Sundays, change the hours!!

This restaurant was terrible in both service and food. We went with a party of 10 for two birthday celebrations. They had limited items on the menu because they "ran out". Our waitress was absolutely miserable and actually went and asked her to take the chip off we were celebrating a milestone. Our food came out 2 hours later and we had to go ask if we wanted another drink. Quality of food was terrible, hamburger that was ordered was sent back because it was raw and the Cashew chicken was mush. I could have let the food quality and time go by but the waitress just put her he icing on the cake. Stay clear, the Keg is right across the street and would have been a quality meal for the same price.

Friendly and nice waitress and awesome view!!! However, overpriced and bad quality food!!! I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich with a salad for $15.80 ... it was so saggy the bread and old texture!!! and the chicken was so old too . The bread had to much sauce to make the chicken taste good but they didn't accomplish their goal. I rather have other food and seat on the waterfront benches. I will never waste my money there again.

Beautiful patio!! Great place to sit and have some drinks. There is a waiter here named Anthony who makes the most delicious caesars! I highly recommend this place for an after work wind down! The mussels and bruschetta are absolutely wonderful. Great way to end a long day

Went with a few friends yesterday afternoon. I suggested we go to the Bistro because I had gone before and liked it... this time was a bit different. There weren’t many people yet we waited one hour for our food to come - we ordered wraps, sandwiches and soup. When the food came, it was cold and not really what we expected... the portions weren’t very big and it all looked like it was quickly slapped together - definitely not worth the money. Great view and lighting though - quite aesthetic for photos!
