The food was mixed, some good and some not so good. The real problem was the service. We had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. It took 20 minutes before our waitress finally came for our drink orders, then she disappeared for another 30 minutes. I finally had to go track her down in another part of the restaurant where she was bussing tables. I don't blame her, this was a management problem. They needed more support staff so their wait staff can serve patrons not bus tables. One hour and forty minutes after arriving we had to take our diners to go in order to make it to a concert.

I never write reviews but this place has my heart. I love coming here so much, especially on the weekends when I’m out celebrating an event with my friends. I personally love how they serve bread and salad/soup(on the house) as well as some appetizers that we order before the main meal. Once the main meal comes the wait has been so worth it! In the meantime we enjoy our company, the drinks they serve and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The 1-2 hours we spend here is always phenomenal.

During the EuroCup 2020 final game, La Contessa showed their ultimate customer service skills while dealing with well over 500 customers. So we were the definition of a difficult table and these people were AMAZING! The food and service were above and beyond our expectations. We're from Buffalo, NY and didn't know this restaurants normal hours. We called for reservations and they opened an hour early to accommodate our group of 6 and although we we had plans that were too close to our dinner and forgot to tell them, they still gave incredible service while we were there even though we were a pain table. The entire staff were so understanding and they gave us tiramisu for our self made troubles. These people are so kind that even though it was our fault the made sure we had a great experience wherever we ate their food by giving us a little desert as a thank you for coming to their restaurant. Would recommend any American to come to Windsor to try this place, ITS DELICIOUS!!!????????????????

Food was alright, pasta dough was a little hard, didn’t seem cooked well. You have to pay $8 for bread which is usually complimentary at most other restaurants and they do nothing for birthdays. Took my wife for her birthday dinner and no birthday singing or complimentary desert. Not very impressive for a high end restaurant.

A few friends and I went over to La Contessa for the first time last weekend. The ambiance was lovely. Our waitress was sweet and accommodating. I ordered the arancini and sacchetti.. the arancini was easily the best I’ve had in the city. As for the sacchetti, it was absolutely DELICIOUS. I did not leave a spec of food on my plate! We look forward to coming back.

WOW, WOW, WOW. Absolutely the BEST Italian food ever. Everything is made from scratch like a home cooked meal. I've been there numerous times, trying a variety of dishes and can't seem to decide which is my favourite. Everything is superb, the food, the atmosphere, the service and the prices are reasonable. I can't remember ever going there and leaving unsatisfied. Best part I always have leftovers that I look forward to the next day. Today my friends surprised me with a take out from La Contessa. Again, the food was unbelievably delicious.

It's a nice experience and the food is good. The live music was too loud though, it was hard to have a conversation without having to repeat or kinda shout. Seemed like waiting for food took a long time. The wait staff is really nice tho, really on top of drinks and checking in.

Had my first meal yesterday from La Contessa Ristorante and it was absolutely delicious!! Italian food is my favourite and I was not disappointed! Our meal tasted like it was made from scratch and full of flavour. Chef Joanna is clearly a very talented cook with a heart of gold! I can't wait to go when it opens back up from the covid lockdown. If you're looking for a new place to try, I highly recommend La Contessa Ristorante!

I booked a reservation almost 2 weeks prior to Valentine's day at La Contessa since they offered a special menu and thier regular menu. My wife and I have never eaten at La Contessa and after a text message Feb 13 at 9:00pm informing us that they decided to only have thier special menu for valentine's day we will never waste our money. The reason I booked this restaurant was the fact that we didn't have to choose from 1 or 2 items from a redacted menu but the whole menu. This has ruined our plan's to have a date night

Great Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. Run by a wonderful family with a small and seasonal menu full of your typical Italian dishes, and a few surprises that will keep you coming back. My favourite is the Carbonara! Clean and friendly environment. Highly recommended!

Came on valentines day with my girlfriend. Dina was our server. Atmosphere was very romantic with soft melodic music. The food came out quick and was absolutely delicious. We had the opportunity to meet Chef Joanna after dinner and she is as lovely as the food. Would definitely come back. Highly recommend this place and will be back!

Even Given that several Christmas parties were in full swing I couldn't hear to have a conversation with my partner. The evening ended in a headache all around. There are many good Italian restaurants in Little Italy in Windsor. This place is unique. Joanna (the owner and chef) will create a meal for you from menu. She can also do an 8 course meal based on the wine you choose (this is a three hour feast). If you get the lamb chop special, this is even too much for the dog who gets the bone. Portions are large, flavours are robust, family service (her daughters) is exceptional. Plan at least one visit this year, you won't be disappointed.

We had reservations at the restaurant and were delayed at the tunnel. When we arrived at the restaurant we had a short time before we have to be at a show. the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. They made us feel like we were regulars and it was only our first time there. The food was delicious and they were very mindful about our schedule and how they brought it out for us. We booked reservations for the set menu ahead of time. We Let them know it was a late valentine’s dinner and we are absolutely delighted. This is one of the best dinners I’ve had in Windsor in a very long time. Compliments to the head chef, she is very talented. Service was excellent as well. If you are looking for great food this is the place to be... So much love and hard work goes into cooking the food I would gladly pay double the menu price... one of the few italian restaurants that are open for lunch hours. I went in to face their lunch only menu. I was disappointed with the super normal and general lunch menu of this place, just until I had the food in my mouth. this restaurants delivers exceptional quality in their food. OMG. The owner of this restaurant is also the chef of this restaurant. It really makes a difference. all their food will have the regular boring names you saw often in other places, but I assure you, what you get here will be different. they got some really talented chef here.

Really wanted to like this place and went back a second time after bad meal is the first. Allowed 2 hours before a show nearby and informed the server of our timeline. Started asking about food 45 minutes after ordering. Salad showed up then another 40 mins and two more inquiries before food showed up leaving about 15 minutes to eat. Restaurant was half full. Bison steak was ordered and we were informed that the chef suggested medium rare only so we asked if they can get it as towards medium as they felt comfortable with. Showed up well done with not a trace pink in it and tough as a puck. When we manage to flag down the The server we asked if there was something very quick the kitchen could send out in place as there was no time for cooking another steak. We were informed all meals are fresh cooked and would take some time so we had no choice but to just eat the rest of the meal sans meat Two of the other dishes were mediocre at best with the sachetti being very good. They offered to buy us a dessert for the $40 steak we didn’t eat but of course it was an empty offer as they were aware of our timeline and we were already late for our show. No time to even argue the fact that they didn’t even remove the uneaten steak from the bill. ......

Simply loved the place, we went just for dessert for our date night and what the server recommended was delicious. It was almost closing time but they didn't kick us out. The staff was very pleasing and service was amazing. We do plan to go there again to try the meals for our next date night.

My veal was great, husband had a shrimp and lobster pasta that was only so so. Yhe lobster tail was a lovely presentation, but when he took the most out of the shell, it came out cubed, suggesting it wasnt lobster at all. He was disappointed

my son and had a reservation for 7pm and spent 15 minutes trying to find a parking spot. not the fault of the restaurant but the BIA for taking away parking spots. anyway, we were seated at a table for 2 in a room that had too many tables in the space. the noise from the people was terrible. while looking at the menu we both agreed the prices were outrageous and the noise kept getting louder. we apologized to the host and told her we were leaving due to the noise. we went to Thenasus and had a wonderful 5 course meal for a very reasonable price with no noise and we had a great waitress.

Flora, Joanne and Luigi turned our family party of 14 into one of the most memorable events ever! We began with bruschetta and shrimp inferno. Then came the caprese salad. Next the pasta dish with meat sauce and just plain garlic spaghetti. Then we moved on to the veal saltimboca. Rounding it all out was the Tiramisu for dessert. Flora and Luigi served us as if we were important family members. My mouth waters just rethinking about it all! I simply cannot remember ever having a more delightful restaurant meal. Hated. There bread they give you is flat and basically taste like hard drywall(im assuming thats what drywall taste like lol) i had the lobster pasta, lobster was so rubbery i could barely cut or chew it, pasta had no taste what so ever. My husband had a steak, they didnt cook it how he wanted said the chef doesnt do it that way on that certain steak whatever that means. They put full cloves of spicy garlic all over his plate. Hes eyes were watering when he ate it. Over all was a $140 dinner for 2 that we could of ate at a cheap place like chuck road housegot a lobster and steak for 25$ better tasting. Dont waste your money here if your into fine dinning

-1 star! Went there as part of the carosoul festival to celebrate Italy only to find the restaurant was not participating inside, only a couple of things they were selling outside. However, it was pouring rain outside! Tgey said they would wipe a table for us si we could eat out there if we wanted the festival prices and food! It was still raining buckets, they would make no exception, they lost 8 customers for life, plus everyone we tell i hope! Very disappointed!!! Shane on not participating fully in your own festival and taking advantage of it and gouging you patrons!

Ambience is very, very nice and the place is very clean and tidy, all the workers are very professional and attentive. I especially want to to thank Spencer he waited on us and did a phenomenal job! One of the best servers I've ever had take care of us. He was very polite and very knowledgeable of the menu along with lots of recommendations for not only food but helped pick out the perfect drink for me. He had a great personality and treated us like royalty. Hes the man! Food here tastes amazing and full of authentic flavors that will keep you wanting more and more. Everything tasted great! Even the drink I had from the bar was perfect. I live in Michigan and will definitely be coming back here for other occasions or to just have great satisfying dish!

I had the veal and the sauce was superb. My date had gnocchi which she really liked too. The reason this place gets five stars in my book is because of the staff. Our waitress, who was a slender medium complected raven haired young lady recommended us a spot to go afterwards and it was phenomenal.

Worst meal I have had in a while. New years menu, steak cost me 50 bucks for instant mashed and an overcooked steak. The waiter disappeared with the check and it put our night an easy hour waiting for him. Food too forever as well.
