Nowadays this firm gets a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and this rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is nearly the top, and it is based on a very high number of scores, so we can conclude that the score is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to give their opinion when they are pleased with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to set tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Bistro.
Service was very good. My fish taco appetizer was tasty. Chicken salad was good. Dessert cake was also good. My issue was with the halibut. It was overcooked and tasted like rubber. I mentioned it to the waitress who said "she would let the cook know". I was a bit perplexed why they did not offer to correct it. Is it an unreasonable expectation for a "sorry it didn't meet expectations, we will let the cook know, is there something we can do".
Came here with my girlfriend, the hostess didn't assign a server to us or give us menus. We waited for someone to come to our table for about 10 minutes then grabbed menus ourselves. Even with menus no one noticed we were there for another 10 minutes. When we finally got served I had the spoon burger and she had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Food was ok, nothing special and not worth waiting for. Would not recommend
Had the most amazing experience, food was perfect! Best eggs I’ve ever had, stellar potatoes and washed it down with a solid solid Caesar. The only issue was with the bartender Connor, he was so great it made the food seem garbage in comparison.
Love the staff, atmosphere, food and the drinks! Everything about this place is top notch! Its our new fave place in town! Even with a longer wait for weekend brunch, the excellent service and amazing food makes up for any time you have to wait.
Great food and amazing service once you're seated but understaffed due to covid i think. Went to the restaurant 30mins after opening and had to wait 1.5 hours.. not sure if too many tables are set aside for reservations? Or so many people left their names between opening and when we got there, but definitely would not recommend going there without reservation.
First time coming in for one of their burger nights! Didnt even know they were open at night on the weekends. I had the cajun chicken burger and truffle fries, best cajun burger I've had yet! Our server Sim was fantastic! She recommended the jam sour and southpaw drinks, i would come back for the drinks alone. We had such a fun time, Sim was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the menu since one of us had dietary restrictions. Sim, if you see this, well be back just for you! Overall amazing experience and perfect service. Havent had that good of a dining experience for a long time, honestly.
Sorry, no so impressed this time. Service was good, but the flank steak on the Benny was bland and tough. It really needed to be seasoned better and sliced thinner. I'll be back as I've had many great meals here, just won't order the flank steak benny again.
Hi staff today. Thank you for such a great brunch. Very friendly staff and super tasty eggs benny! Well wishes :-)
First time ever at wooden spoon and I loved it! Our server was Conner and he really contributed to the fun atmosphere. He was attentive and his jokes made for a memorable experience! The food also was delicious, definitely will be coming back.
Lived in the area for a while and always heard of this place. Finally went and the food was amazing and Krista gave the best service!

Place was busy, but we were able to get seated quite quickly! Our server Tanner was an absolute gem! Great sense of humour with great recommendations for food! Food came out in a timely manner, portion size was fantastic, and the quality and style of food was great. Over all a great brunch experience!
If I could give 10 stars I would. Conner with an er is a beauty. He kept it real. Service was quick and attentive! He had our group of girls cackling with his banter. The food was great but even if it wasn’t, I’d recommend this establishment solely for the service Conner provided.
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly staff.
One of my favourite brunch spots! The outdoor seating was so cute :) Chez was so sweet and friendly ❤️ The mimosas and mac & cheese were delicious as always too ~
Great place ???? food is always delicious staff are super friendly if ur in WhiteRock this is a must ????
Service
amazing brunch hidden gem in White Rock! Known for their popular The Sweet & Salty. 2 pieces of thick-cut cheddar grilled French toast, topped with 2 medium poached egg, hollandaise sauce and drizzled with sweet maple syrup! True to the dish name, had an awesome melody of the sweet and salty flavour! The banana bread was also really good, it came with a little side of banana spread that was delicious to spread on top. Definitely recommend making a reservation prior to avoid the wait time, because my friend and I went around 11:00 in the morning and we had to wait around 1hr before we got a table. Sweet and Salty - $14.95 banana bread and yogurt - $11.95
Loved the food and the ambience. Food arrived quickly and the staff was attentive. Our waitress, Krista, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was efficient, warm and friendly. One member of our party has dietary restrictions and she was able to advise them about what was appropriate for them to eat. Will definitely be back!
First time here. LOVE the decor! Mason jar light fixtures, exposed beams, brick, FREE PARKING VALIDATION. Had the Salmon Burger with added bacon and avo, with truffle fries. DELISHUSSSSSSS!!! Get there early for brunch cuz they DONT take reservations and it fills up quick! Very cozy atmosphere that also offers south-facing outdoor patio seating in the sun! Will DEFS be returning!
We have frequently gone here and since opening it has gone down hill. The food we received today was tasteless the hollandaise is now a foam which doesn't taste and does not melt into the cream sauce it is meant to. For a family for 5 it was $94 for breakfast. The hash was so much better a year ago. My husband ordered a Bennie and it didn't even come on edible bread. We asked for a larger order of pancakes for our children and we now need to feed them more as the 3 small toonie size pancakes with nothing else did not fill them up. We will never go to this establishment again.
Dropped by for some pick up food. The server was super nice and made some small talk with me. Food was quite good. Nothing to complain about, a solid little hidden gem in the area.
First let me say The Wooden Spoon is amazing. The food is delightful, modern, creative and accessable. Fresh ingredients, thoughtful combinations, excellent preparation and presentation. Very high standards and great central location. Servers are wonderful, friendly and attentive even when busy (which is almost always). Why did I deduct a star? Two issues: 1) seating: the chairs are hard and uncomfortable, spacing far too tight, poorly arranged and inexplicably tiny (make your tables larger and people will be more inclined to fill them with more food and drinks). 2) value: small portions and high prices. Yes we get that you're in White Rock and accordingly rents are higher...no excuse for a $9 Ceasar or $8 French press. Benny's at $16 would be ok for larger portions and special ingredients, but for pulled pork? Nope. One last comment; remember your bread and butter customer in this locale is seniors, or at least 50+ (yes I know you love the hipster vibe but come on have some cushions or padded seats...even young folks and professionals will enjoy something softer). Much love of course and best wishes for a great new year! Thanks for being a White Rock must-vist (on the regular)!
There are many pics from the food and menu that you can refer to, I just wanted to add some other points. The service of our host was amazing, Nik. He was friendly and caring for real, not fake???? Restaurant facilities for children and babies are prepared. And the food's quality was great. Coffee, for coffee lovers like me, wasn't satisfying, I'm still looking to have my Starbucks after here????
Went to this little gem for a birthday lunch today with my friend. Great decor, comfortable seating and I was greeted right away when I came through the front door. Waitress was friendly and gave us great service! The food was so delicious, and portions were perfect! My friend & I were chatting away and didn’t realize that they close at 3pm and we looked at our phones and it was 4:50pm. We got up to leave and one of the staff I presume manager or owner got up and walked us to the door, and thanked us for coming. Not once did they come and tell us that they were closing or have to leave, they were so great and allowed us to visit! This place is tremendous with excellent customer service, I will definitely be back and tell everybody I know to try this place! Thank you so much Wooden Spoons for such a great experience!
Ordered take out for the first time from here. And look at the kids french toast I got. Completely burnt on both sides. ???? awful
10/10 Best place I've eaten since moving to Vancouver 5 years ago. Staff are incredible! Love the layout and décor of the place. Food is out of this world. Not only is there great presentation but the combination of flavours is well thought out
I have never had a bad meal here. The food is fresh and delicious always. Yesterday I couldn’t decide which Eggs Benedict I wanted so I asked if I could have 1 of each to try them out and they accommodated me no problem. It’s cozy and always busy but worth it every time.
Cute little spot in White Rock, offering breakfast lunch & dinner options. Popular for brunch, you can see they get a lot of regulars as most are on first name basis. There are vegetarian options, and the kitchen is happy to accommodate any food restrictions. The price point of this place was a bit higher than expected but based on its location, it's fitting. Would love to see more fry on the chicken and waffles, but overall it was a good meal. We look forward to come back again!
Fantastic brunch options with quaint little hipster atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and know the menu very well. There could be a bit of wait so remember to reserve ahead of time. Their Mac and cheese and Eggs Benny are to die for. Got kids? They even have a tiny play area for your tots to play and have a great time. They even do coffee in a French Press, and it's good coffee. Stop reading this and walk in. You'll love it.
The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was good. Krista was our server who did a great job and suggested us to the raspberry radler that was delicious.
I really feel this is the best place to eat in White Rock. The food is next level. I would prefer if they moved to Yaletown. I need them here. The burger is good but the French press coffee and bennies are best!
Great food and excellent service. There's a play area just for the kids!
Amazing dishes, reservations are recommended
The food was amazing and Krista the server was too. The staff and atmosphere was welcoming. The spoon donut holes…Forget About It!!! Wow…Triple A…All the way. We will definitely be back soon. Cheers.
Trendy place with the menu updated on a regular basis sometimes for better or worse. Some popular items still remain such as “the Champ” but the accompanying sides change. Above average menu prices which may be a turn off for what you are actually getting. Tasty and good food though.
Okay here why you get 1 star. But you can earn it back :) Wooden Spoon Management? You are a go to spot for my family, friends, and myself. You took The SoCal bowl, Spoon Hash Bowls, and you main attractions off the menu. Service is great and Daniel our Server was amazing. Ceasers are bomb. But you need add these bowls back onto the hidden menu and menu and the one star changes to a 5! This is the equivalent McDonald’s taking away the BigMac, McFlurry, and beef patties off their menu. So upsetting I left a review and I never leave reviews!
Not many brunch places like this around. Not a huge menu but a lot of different takes on classic breakfasts like egg Benedict! Great drinks and also good sides. The breakfast sandwich is really good! Messy, but good!
The food is outstanding and worth the price. Music was ridiculously loud and couldn’t be turned down because it is apparently preset. Front door staff very pleasant but did not check COVID ID.
By far one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Me and my friend walked in, were immediatly seated, place was warm had just the right amount of ambience and well selected playlist. Our hostess was very nice and charming and gave great recommendations. My girlfriend order the beach body Benny which had the hollandaise sauce of the Gods on it, and I got the veggie burger with an extra egg and avocado on it. Now let me tell you, AMAZING, every bite of the food was very light and fluffy, the patty was very juicy and well made, and the seasoning was just superb on the entire plate. The kettle fries were very nice and crunchy. As for the drinks the the ceasar tasted like a complete meal, something I'd treat as a full course stew with an extra kick???? The manager Graham is an awesome person and he was very chatty and well informed! I will be back for sure any chance I get.
There is no problem with the food here it’s actually really good, and most of the staff are great. So why am I leaving 1 star? When I went in recently for brunch the girl who was supposed to be hosting at the front with the long brown hair was terrible at her job was frankly rude. Instead of helping people at the door, she stood around talking to other seated tables. There seems to be some sort of problem with whoever is running this place because the way this place functions at the front door is just ridiculous. Unfortunately this made it a bad experience for me. I wasn’t bothered to leave a review but I was actually just talking to a friend who went in this past weekend and left feeling the same way, so now I am leaving this review.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Awesome burger and just $9.95 (with the purchase of a beverage) on Wednesdays! Weekend brunch is fabulous as well but make sure to call the day before and put your name on the wait list as this place is mobbed on the weekends.
Honestly not great. Everyone raves about it, so I keep giving it another chance... But every time the food is burnt, or bland, and over priced. Every time I go its a disappointment. I'll probably go back again, and I hope you change my opinion... :) ????
Absolutely love this spot. We have only been here on four or five occasions but we have enjoyed every visit we have had. The food is fantastic as is the atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and we like the fact that there is a gentleman that always says thank you for coming just a your getting ready to leave.
This a great little restaurant. Despite being in a crumby location that shops come and go, this place is going strong and there are always busy. I had the Big Spoon Poutine and it was the best I've ever had. The staff were very friendly, helpful and sincere. Totally recommend it to anyone looking for a great restaurant off the main drive.
Ordered 3 appies and 1 main and they were all amazing! Staff were great! Selection of drinks were awesome! And there is a play area and even complimentary diapers in the bathroom. I will come back for sure!! Love this place!!
Very good place , very good eat , speed free wifi for worked and the employees are very nice. ????
Came in a few days ago, didn't know they were open for dinner on weekends!! Thanks to our amazing server Sim who introduced me to the jam sour - so good. It seemed really busy but she took care of us which was appreciated as it was our first time out after a while. will for sure be back to try brunch :)
Brunch
I’ve been here once before and it was good. However, me and my friend were disappointed today. We asked for black pepper and we never received it. We understand a busy day but I did see some good service in other table. Food is particularly over cooked, and a bit over priced (couldn’t get half full). I was highly recommended my friend to dine in here now I feel embarrassed.
Love that they have a bunch of vegan options! The vegan hash was delicious, and the coffee is always perfect.
Amazing food, amazing staff and the place looks really nice. Aside from the long wait time, this place is now one of my new favourite brunch places. I will definitely be coming back here with my friends
Had brunch here as my first experience and it was delicious! Great portions and the food wasn't overly greasy. The coffee was outstanding as well. It was served in a French press, so yummy! Can't wait to come back to try dinner!
Great breakfast/brunch spot. Have been this location countless times and have tried most items on their menu and loved each and every one of them. Never disappointed in their quality of service or product delivered. Their bourbon Cesar is also pretty solid, a must try if still on menu.
Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The portions are big, the service was outstanding and the food was so flavorful! Will have to go back again for brunch.
One of my favorite brunch spots. They’ve got a bar and a whole lot of brunch options. The French press coffee is great, if you’re like me and wanna mix it up with a shot of B52. Their menu changes time to time so try and get ahead of what you’re gonna order by seeing their latest menu online. Nans After Dark is delish and their hash is awesome too.
Not my first time here so I knew what to expect. Great food love the atmosphere. Service was amazing due to Connor’s outgoing personality. Did make the time here more enjoyable. Definitely a place to come back to, not just for the food.
Not just a great experience from atmosphere the service was unique and awesome. Nick did an amazing hospitality and he makes sure we enjoyed every moment. Thank you so much, we definitely will back
Great service, super kid friendly, and tasty food. Go early if you want to avoid a long wait
Lovely brunch on the patio, heaters kept us cozy warm, food was delicious and our server Krista was an angel.
My wife and I and two kids met another family for dinner. We were hesitant after looking over the menu ahead of time. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Both our meals were amazing and our kids devoured theirs. Great experience, service was fantastic. We will come back again.
Great food, great service, friendly staff.
I like this location. The team here is outgoing and very helpful. They will go out of there way to help you and find an item. It feels like a good team led store. It is clean and organized. The lighting is great in this location. Like any retail store you can order an item online and have it sent to your favourite or convenient location.
Really fantastic food. A simple menu that takes classic dishes, and propels them far beyond basic breakfast. Service is sharp and timely and everybody chips in. Drinks are on point and this is a great destination after a night out, or a morning with friends.
Went for brunch this past Saturday. It was busy, and my partner and I were seated at the bar. My partner had recently suffered a serious shoulder injury and having ordered the chicken and waffles he realized that he couldn’t lift his arm properly to cut his food on the bar top. He asked the waiter if we could be moved to a table and he was advised that there were waitlists for the tables. The waiter joked and said “but I’ll come and cut your food for you”. My partner returned to his seat and moments later, the waiter actually came and cut his food for him. My partner was surprised! This was so nice of the waiter. I would have cut his food had he not but it was amazing to see such great service. I joked and said you should just feed him too! And he actually came by later and ”airplaned” my partner a piece of waffle! Had an amazing time! The bartender was amazing as well! Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back again! Great food and amazing staff! 10/10 recommend.
Came here for brunch, sat outside on the patio. They have tall heaters and umbrellas spread out even in the patio area so you’ll feel strangely warm and dry even when it’s drizzling and breezy outside - that’s definitely a plus, especially if you’re still wary of indoor dining in close proximity to other people. Food was solid, servers were polite and helpful.
We just had brunch here for a friends birthday, and we all had an excellent time. The food was amazing, but the staff were definitely the highlight. We had a great time chatting with them, they were very accommodating, friendly and super welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also, I had the crab benny - it was delicious! Will definitely be back soon!
Good food and friendly staff. Brunch selection was good with great veggie options.
Used to work here, been eating at the spoon long before and after my stint as an expo. This restaurant has remained fantastic all the while. It is a super fun atmosphere that White Rock dearly needs, the food is fantastic, overall vibe of the place is unmatched in the area. Really cant go wrong with any of the menu items and staff are always a pleasure to deal with. Highly highly recommend!!!

Solid solid choice - menus are always solid, nice atmosphere, great staff and cocktails. I am always impressed by the little touches they put into their food, very well thought out dishes and consistently well cooked. Great example of this style of restaurant.
Absolutely delicious french toast! Small place, we sat at the bar and the service was great! Definitely would go back to try some more of their items!
Food was decent and pricing average! Meat was a little tasteless on their breakfast hash unfortunately, but coffee was great and generally satisfied with the food itself. I little turned off from the fact that their blonde hostess was rushing us out the door (telling us to hurry, because there's others waiting for a table), quite literally after I took my last sip of coffee - I only saw one party waiting outside for a table, personally. COVID, or not ..you do not do that; especially if you want a good review and return customers. Still unsure if I'll be back, or not.
Went to Wooden spoon with family. The service was great and the food was excellent. The kids loved the food. They read our instructions for the booking and when we got there the table was set with the high chair. Felt super safe with covid protocols! Got a free birthday treat as well! Will be coming again with the family. Great job Wooden Spoon!
The atmosphere of this restaurant is really nice and cozy. It’s like you’re in a cabin as everything is very wooden. Food tastes good and has an extensive brunch menu and is delicious! Sweets, savoury, and a combination of two!
What a gem! This cute little spot could be easily missed if you didn't get referred, or find it by searching for "The Best Brunch in White Rock." This really is one of the best brunch spots, not only in White Rock, but in the entire Lower Mainland. The quality of the food is incredible and it is cooked to perfection. If your breakfast choice has toast, you have to try the strawberry jam!! Stop reading reviews and go the Wooden Spoon.
I've been to the Wooden Spoon quite a few times now and each time it's been great. (Be prepared to wait during peak brunching hours, but it's worth the wait!) The staff are fun and engaging, and the food is awesome. My friend is gluten-intolerant and they provided gluten-free bread, which is also awesome. My only teeny-tiny gripe is that the coffee is a bit on the pricy side (it's served in a French press) but that being said, it is quite fresh and good quality!
Super yummy food and great service!!!!! Our waiter was named Conner, and he was super funny and sweet. Definitely was a highlight of our meal. The food was astronomical as well! I would absolutely recommend this place!
Super chill spot with fantastic food and drinks. The menu is very well thought out and the attention to detail is evident.
Had brunch today at The Wooden Spoon. Found out about this place through Instagram. The food is def Instagram worthy. We both decided to go with Benny's for brunch. Atmosphere is nice and staff was very friendly. Food was good. The herbed potatoes have great flavour, the Benny's were nice. Neither of us were fans of the grain salad that was served with them but ate them anyway cause lol they looked full of stuff that was prob good for you. I do want to go back some evening and try out the burgers.
GO HERE! EAT HERE! WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS, just goooo!!! So this place I love. Their hours kind of suck BUT their food is so good that I wont take away a star just because of that. I mainly just order a burger because I'm a burger person. I've had the soup and grilled cheese sandwich as well. You've never had a grilled cheese like theirs before. Also they have this cute little kids area in the back, as a parent I appreciate the extra mile. Somewhere to just step aside with your possibly fussy child.
My best friend and I made a reservation and were seated within two minutes. Our server (Krista) was incredibly friendly and personable, took our orders immediately. We loved the food! I highly recommend the Bay benny. Such an amazing experience, would highly recommend.
This place has a really great vibe. Its trendy while being accommodating to families. There's even a mini play area in the back! The food is solid! I'd recommend giving the chickpea salad (side) a try. I also appreciate that you can order a full coffee press for the table. Haven't been to many places that offered such a thing. I recommend it!
My vegan breakfast was delicious and the staff was amazing. I'll definitely be back!
An amazing spot for brunch! Their food has been consistently good, the Sweet and Salty and Farmers breakfast haven’t disappointed. They also have a delicious freshly squeezed OJ.
Probably my family's last visit... 8 of us. 2 of our kids finished their children's breakfast well before everyone else got their food. Kids breakfast were very small especially for the price. What happened to the size of the sourdough? It might have added up to 1 slice and I love bread with breakfast. We walked out and thought that is the last time going there after it being out go to place for so long. Of course that will depend on their response....
Can only appreciate the creative take on food that The Wooden Spoon has. First of all, Texas Holdem is one of the best eggs benedict I have ever tried. Juicy and tasty! Also, try The Wooden eggs benedict and Chickpea Fritter. Big portions and friendly staff.
Great service and great food!
Always the go-to for brunch, the menu items are amazing and above all our server Chez really made the experience memorable! Hope she stays forever!
First time try. While the brunch menu is creative, can't say either my hubby or I would order again. Although our son loved it. The one thing that floored me was 26.85 for 3 juices! Ridiculous, my fault for not checking before ordering.
Worth the wait (and drive)! They have some interesting items that you won’t find in other brunch spots. We ordered the Sweet & Salty and The Spoon - both were awesome! The interior is really cool too.
Excellent service. Wonderful staff. Best Coffee. Ordered the chicken tequila salad and it's a must order item. Also tried their mac and cheese, Montreal smoked meat sandwich, chicken sandwich and the cajun chicken burger. All really good. Thanks to our server Jill °•○●○•°
A little cool on the patio today but otherwise great service and food.
The food is well made and tasty. The spot is very popular so if you're not on the waiting list you won't get a table without waiting an excessive amount of time. The service is average at best.
went this morning with my girlfriend and what an awesome experience. Service was exceptional as well as their coffee!! We shared the banana bread and yogurt and the Sweet and Salty and all we could say was YUMMMMMM. Would 100% recommend and will defiently be back
Not sure if they are under new management/ ownership however the food is not as good as before and service is lacking. We made a reservation ahead of time for breakfast, got seated in the back patio. We noticed it to be chilled and asked to be seated in the empty table in the sun we had been informed it was already reserved. After only receiving water we noticed another table had gotten up, we ask our waitress if possible to move in she assured us it would be fine , only for her to come back and say the manager has promised the table to another reservation coming in shortly. At this point it felt quote unfair for tables to be held for partys yet to come over customers already walked in. It gets better as the waitress could see we may have felt that to be unfair and decided not to come back for 40 mins to take our order. They did offer some complimentary donuts to make light of the situation and unfortunately those ended up burnt as well.
Ordered from their website for a picnic with friends. I asked for cutlery and no salad on the side. The order came with no cutlery and salad. Disappointed, but the packaging looked nice.
Honestly the best service I’ve had in ages! Will go here more often because of Conner!
Great place, Great Service - super Covid enforced delicious food check it out with family & friends. I took a friend yesterday & we both really enjoyed our Brunch.
Great food and atmosphere. The menu definitely has something for everyone. Highly recommend the bacon jam benny. Krista was an awesome host/server!
Amazing brunch today! Sim was so friendly and recommended such great food!! Will definitely be going back!!
Just had brunch here for the first time. Food was wonderfully fresh, service was great. Conner was our server and made our experience here fantastic.
Seriously awesome breakfast! Place was stupid busy, and we manage to get seats just before they closed. Glad we did, because these meals were out of this world awesome! Hope you enjoy the pics! If my review helped, please give me a thumbs up ???? Cheers ????
So so so yummy! The food, the dessert, and the service from Chez was all so amazing. Definitely planning another brunch for here!

I originally rated this restaurant 4 star. I thought the menu was unique but I've been outvoted 4 to 1. The Wooden Spoon is not a good choice for those wanting a traditional breakfast. Even those in the group who like to experiment with food and seek out new flavors were dissatisfied. The Frittata was overcooked and not very hot. The spice used in the hashbrowns was not well liked by anyone and the only jam available was an in house tomato jam that lacked flavor. Most felt the food was overpriced. We will not be going back.
Highly disappointed in the poor service and disorganization due to the over reliance on technology. Attended for weekend brunch, was told the wait would be 40 minutes. Ended up waiting for 1 hours and 15 minutes due to the system crashing. We also just opted for take out since they didn’t know when we would be seated. There was a long line and 1/2 the people were not informed of the system crash. I tried the bay benny which was delicious. The salty and sweet brunch was also just as delicious!
Had some relatives from out of town a few days ago who wanted a "White Rock experience" so I brought them to White Rock. I had a few suggestions on where to go but I had never been here before so we decided to try something new. Had an excellent experience thanks to Sim who gave some good suggestions on other activities in the area as well as on-point food and drink recommendations.
It was my first time dining at Wooden Spoon and it exceeded my expectations! Our server, Krista was very friendly, easy-going, and definitely made the experience very fun. If you haven't been I highly recommend the "Nan's after Dark" french toast if you want something sweet!
The gentleman that was working as a Host yesterday Sunday Sept 21 2020 was rude. At his age he shouldn't be working in a fast pace environment if he is not going to give full attention to the clients. You need to understand that clients are the once that keep your doors open.
Fabulous favorite local breakfast spot. Love it when the details on the plate are a cut above and a bit more special. Great casual vibe and fun staff. It was a treat to be served by Connor today - lots of laughs!
I've heard so many great things about this place and finally was able to go for breakfast while visiting from out of town. Our server was Krista and she was so friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. She had great recommendations for us when we couldn't choose on what to order off the menu. I ordered the Sppon Huevos and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to going back there when we are back in the west coast.
Amazing breakfast. Tables are a little small but we were able to fit in 4 adults and a child will full breakfasts. Sausages were amazing, the food was great. Staff were kind and courteous. Will be going here again for sure.
Very good burgers. Worth a try.
Great breakfast place if you can get a seat. The place is very small but the food is very good. Also has a nice assortment of breakfast type drinks.
Our first meal in this trip to Canada and my "Forager Benny" had perfectly done eggs on a sort of crisp bed of mushrooms with many great flavors and textures. Also tried a bite of a fritatta that was well done. And a carafe of freshly brewed French-press made for a great brunch on a chill morning.
Delicious with great portions, we went there for Christmas eve and the service was wonderful. Was definitely worth the hour drive.
Great service and great food. Menu threw me off a little with the selections. Caesar came with bacon in it, but didn't say that on the menu. That being said their take on French toast is pretty yummy. Their smoked beef hash was also very flavorful. The space has great vibes, with lots of seating indoor and out. Best of all, they take reservations where a lot of brunch places don't.
Nice place but no appies in the afternoons. And my favourite type of beer, a pale or amber ale was not available.
Service
Amazing restaurant! The food was so good, and looks so appetizing too! Inexpensive and wonderful service. Oh, and the drinks (inclusing the fresh pressed coffee) are killer!
Best eggs benny and mimosa my mouth has ever seen! Our server Connor was so accommodating and fun, definitely recommend!!

This was an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch or lunch! Very cool menu items, drinks and extremely friendly staff. Accommodating for kids but cool enough for people of all ages. Great French press coffee but no espresso drinks.
I have heard that this is a good spot for brunch. Unfortunately on the day we went, their system crashed. We had been waiting for 40 minutes. They were unable to serve us after this. It is pretty sad that a place is so reliant on technology that they were unable to cook food and take payment by cash. Truely disappointed that they couldn't did not tell us in person and let us wait around to be not served
Excellent place for brunch, but they’re now open Friday and Saturdays 4-10pm for dinner! My friend and I came Friday evening for a happy hour burger (pretty basic burger but tasty), onion rings (excellent, but would ask for some type of sauce next time) and we split a margarita pitcher (very yum). Sim was an amazing server - checkbacks, friendly, and let us girls gab but still gave us her attention and wonderful service. We stayed for a few hours and at no point did we feel ignored - we will be back, Sim!! Patio in the front and back: heaters, patio lights, and picnic bench seating make it very homey. Dog friendly! They will validate parking for 2hrs in the lot in the pack, but there’s ample street parking in the neighborhood.
Food is good.....except if you have any allergies....they do not check probably for you!! My husband has soy allergy and we told the waitress. He was soooooo sick after his breakfast so she didn't do a very good job on checking in on the allergy for him. Will not go back!!!
You can't consider having brunch in White Rock without considering the Wooden Spoon. It has easily risen to one of the top brunch spots in the city and for good reason. Their menu is a beautiful balance of homey classics and creativity. The variety makes it difficult to order the same thing twice. Come prepared to spend a little bit of money. I always start with a mimosa but then want a coffee because the coffee they serve is so delicious, then brunch, then another mimosa just because and so on...
Food and service was great until the end. After paying for our food we were expected to leave instantaneously. A male staff member attempted to flirt with us while stating 'you have to order a dessert by the time I come back,' (after I shared I wasn't interested). Note to management: coercing and flirting with customers is poor customer service and unprofessional. Not to mention a cowardly approach to get your customers to either order or leave - just be honest about it. Please don't let another customer feel uncomfortable the way we did or better train your staff.
Wonderful food for a non meat eater. Great combinations of vegetables and flavours. Service friendly and prompt. A very good brunch experience.
Had a yummy lunch with a friend here last week. Our server Daniel gave us the BEST service AND the burgers are absolutely fabulous! Highly recommend this restaurant!
One word: Delicious. Full review: How lucky are we in White Rock to have this amazing brunch place? Wooden Spoon offers that fun hipster city vibe and yet very welcoming for multi-generational families. Wooden Spoon was also my go-to brunch spot when my wife had her birthday during lockdown and we wanted to surprise her with the best brunch possible. Graham and the chef helped curate a delicious vegetarian breakfast that I was able to bring back home - the whole process went smoothly from start to finish. Now, just yesterday, my daughter and I went back in the restaurant for the first time since lockdown (and greeted again by the friendly Graham) and we were immediately impressed by how Wooden Spoon is being careful during these times. I felt very safe with the abundant plexiglass separations throughout the restaurant, facemasks worn by staff and even a touchless temperature check upon entry. Our family loves this restaurant and we highly recommend it for either in-restaurant or special curated requests like the one we had earlier this year. Thanks to the entire team for the great experiences we have at Wooden Spoon, every single time!
My mother of 90 years visited here the other day and they were kind enough to create food for her gluten free. A young man served her and was very attentive to her needs. Mother loved her food ( not easy to do) and says she was very impressed..... So thanks from my mother.
An excellent local brunch spot. The wait times can be long, especially during peak brunch time. I went this past Sunday at 2pm. Can’t call it brunch but we got a seat immediately, as it was close to their 3pm closing time. I also never knew this but they validate parking in the back parking lot, just ask. I had the SoCal Benny, the house-made jalapeño cornbread was absolutely delicious.
My husband and I went to the wooden spoon tonight to try out their burgers, oh my goodness they were SO GOOD! The ambience was so cozy and cute, the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious! Cannot wait to come back here for another awesome date night.
Absolutely amazing! Best eggs been I've ever had and I've had a lot. My wife and I are foodies and we are blown away. Even just putting these concoctions together is nothing short of incredible! And the French press coffee... WOW!! SO GOOD. We have to go out the for dinner one night. We've been at least half a dozen times for breakfast. Delicious.
Set in uptown White Rock across from the Whaling wall this small bistro serves up good food with friendly staff. The food is good but served on a wooden platter( board). This can lead to a messy containment problem which detracts from the overall meal experience. Overall a fun place to go for a casual meal.
Normally a brunch place. But on Fridays they serve up the best burgers around. They also have a Bourbon Caesar which was amazing.
Co worker recommended this place so checked it out for lunch. Service and staff were outstanding and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and will come back! The champ with pulled pork was very tasty!
Had a delicious brunch here. The staff was great and if I lived nearby, I'd be a regular! Several craft beers on tap; cocktails are also available.
Drip or drown guy, man like Conner's pretty sick stylllll food was great, service was even better. Will come again forsure
Fantastic brunch option. Great for couples and families and they definitely care about food and service quality.
Very good. No complaints at all. Was very busy but they had patio space that's heated
We arrived precisely at 9:00am and the place was empty. Then BAM, 10am hits and suddenly people are lining up at the door. Be warned, this place fills FAST. I had the Sweet and Salty brunch (french toast with maple bacon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce) $14.99. My friend had The Wooden Benny $15.99. Then we ordered a coffee to share. We stayed there for about 2 hours, and even tho the place was filling up the waitress did not push us to leave. Service is fantastic. Pricing is fair given its location (and being the only local brunch place). They validate your parking if you eat there. 30 minute walk from there to White Rock Beach.
We had my birthday brunch here over the weekend and that staff here was so incredibly accommodating and awesome. We basically took over a corner of the place and had no complaints. The food is awesome too, like super awesome.
Benny & Bueger was so good! Also the coffee was one of my favorites!!! No doubts that the very kind servers also make this place so special! I had great time in this restaurant!
Being a senior I was reticent about going in an "upscale" bistro. However we ordered the breakfast asking that we wanted to share. They brought 2 plates divided up. More than enough food for 2 seniors, which was excellent and the French press coffee was a bonus. Would definitely come back.
Trendy rustic and cozy place. Enjoyed the weekend brunch after a 20 minute wait. Service was great. Good coffee and healthy options of classic dishes.
This place is very lovely! We stumbled across it while coming through White Rock and we're very pleased. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff and food were incredible! We ordered a sweet and a savory brunch to try both and they both were delicious. We sucked it down in minutes it was so good. The only reason I give 4 not 5 stars is that we ordered mimosas and coffee which were just okay. The mimosas seemed like they had lots of hops, almost closer to a beer. Still yummy, just not what we expected. I would absolutely recommend this place for a brunch stop!
Always great. Indulgent comfort food or vegan... Both available and delicious. Accommodating of my celiac daughter. Great rustic/farmhouse aesthetic. Chamomile smash is incredible. Thanks for the excellent service Krista!
So glad to have this great brunch spot in Surrey. The portion was good and everything was executed very nicely. Chicken and waffle the chicken was very juicy and tender, the waffle was more on the soft mushy side. Truffle Mac & cheese was really good too but would be better if it’s less running. French press coffee was so good too. Definitely worth trying if willing to wait for a bit. They don’t take reservation during weekend, and the generally the wait time is an hour. They take down your phone number and message you when ur table is ready.
Service
Just missed time for brunch so had to go with lunch option. Bit bummed about not having brunch but their buttermilk fried chicken was worth missing brunch. Crisp and not at all oily. Ranch dressing was fabulous with the chicken!
Went with friends without a lunchtime reservation but fortunately the staff were very accommodating and fit us in. All three of us ordered the "Smoked sandwich" it was "Delicious. Really a great tasting sandwich" ???? well done Wooden Spoon
Great food , friendly staff!
My friends and I had a great time getting brunch at this location and were served spectacularly by Chez :)
Update one year later: We've been back a few time since my first review and I think this place has gotten better. Food has improved (really excellent now) and value seems better based on how they've structured the menu. Went from 4 to 5 stars in my books. First review: Went for lunch on a weekday - food was quite good, service was really friendly. Probably a little more expensive than we were expecting. Complementary diapers in the washroom for babies if you're into that sort of thing - nice touch. I'd go back.
It's a great place for a good breakfast. It has a very relaxing atmosphere to it which can be enjoyed given any weather conditions. The food is well worth the money although it is not the cheapest option. The customer service was welcoming and made the overall experience very pleasant.
Great place to go for brunch. The 2 times I've been there with my family, I've ordered their Farmer's Breakfast and loved it! Definitely a place I recommend ????????
Wooden spoon is located in downtown, White Rock. Its around 45 minutes far from Vancouver and one of the best options for breakfast and brunch. ⏱ Waiting time on weekends is around 45 minutes. I suggest you to book even on weekdays. ????♀️ The staff is friendly and try to provide optimum level of service. ❗️Your order is prepared rather fast which is a good feature specially when you’re hungry???? Food recommendations: * Definitely order one of the items from “Cast Iron Crushables”. (Served in skillet) ** Order one from the Brunch menu. If you like sausage, go for farmhouse breakfast. ☕️ The Press Coffee is mild and tasty and its worth trying. Enjoy!????
Super friendly host who welcomed us in as soon as we walked in the door. Had about an hour wait, so my guy and I went for a short ride around the neighbourhood and filled up the motorcycle as well. Upon on our return, we were seated at a good sized table (seating for 4 - enough room for us to rest our helmets and jackets), which was great! Our server was awesome and friendly. The food was generously portioned, healthy and delicious! We will be back....thank you to everyone at the Wooden Spoon Co., for a wonderful dining experience! We will be back! ????
We came here for our brunch the morning after our wedding. Our server Sim was amazing and very helpful with the menu. The food was mouthwatering and the experience was to die for. 10/10 will definitely be back for more!
This place was really easy to find and offers free parking from Impark for 2 hours. I highly recommend booking a reservation or else you'd be waiting for about a couple of hours or be eating at the bar. That says a lot about how good this place is. Staff is very nice, you get several asking how the food is and how it's going all the time and are very apologetic when they are busy, which I haven't noticed myself that service was even taking long to begin with. I felt like service and food are provided in a very reasonable time. Our server was good and witty as he cracked up good jokes while taking our orders and checking in on my party. Food was great and tasty. Atmosphere is nice. Can't go wrong here.
Our server Krista went above and beyond for our nieces 30th Birthday Thank you
The bartender is so friendly, and the food is delicious. Tonnes of unique options to choose from, including drinks and desserts. The place has a really hip/chic vibe and is an awesome place to grab brunch with friends and family!
Krista was amazing!! Incredible service and unreal food! ????????
I love Wooden Spoon, food and staff are amazing. My go-to brunch place and dinners are so delicious
Great place for brunch, staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Dishes are very well prepared and delicious. If you are around you need to visit this place!
Went here a couple of weeks ago, food is great, service is okay. But its always freezing in there, Ive suggested it to them a few times to crank up there heat a bit more. Other than that I would definitely go back for there food options.
Another place that deserves 10 out of 5 stars! If you are in the area for brunch this place is a must!!! Amazing food, stellar staff and great atmosphere! Nothing but love for Wooden Spoon ❤️☕️❤️
Meeting my friend after long time for Brunch, and we chose this place. Let me tell you this place is gem. The restaurant has the rustic and woodsy look. Little tight space wise though. The atmosphere was very vibrant and fun. Our waiter Nick was awesome. I started with grapefruit mimosa and it was awesome. Then I got a vegetarian hash, a cast iron dish with roasted vegetables and sunny side up eggs. It was so good and delicious.
The food and service here is always amazing! Most recently we were served by Krista and she was super friendly and skilled at her job. Have nothing but good things to say about my experience!
This place is vegetarian friendly! Ordered the veggy fritata and it was delicious. Good selection of local beers too. Service is great and staff is friendly. Order is taken quickly and food arrives on time. It closes at 3pm but they let patrons linger and take their time - they don't try to rush you out. Highly recommend this place and will be visiting again :)
Absolutely the best food and service we’ve had since dining out during the pandemic. Kudos to Nick for offering a 10/10 experience. The Cajun chicken sandwich is to die for. Get the truffle fries! ????
I have mixed feelings leaving this review because it will mean I'll have an even harder time getting a seat at this excellent hidden gem. I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and everything I've had has been excellently prepared and delicious. The portions are spot on, the service and decor are very welcoming. My favourite local joint.
Nice decor, interesting options for caesar and mimosa's and the food was awesome for our brunch. We have very high standards and were not disappointed! Free parking out back with a card you get inside to display on your dash. There is a children's play area at the back and diapers in the washrooms for those emergencies are a nice touch.
Great food and service. Krista was awesome!
Coffee was great, and the Montreal smoked meat was impressive. The blackened chicken was not really blackened. The buttermilk chicken was very disappointing. By the time we got the sandwich the breading was mush. So the sandwich was unfavorable mush... Would go back, but would be more selective in ordering.
Best brunch in town. Super delicious home style cooking and awesome staff. They also can host private parties up to 50 people which is great for birthdays & engagement parties. Would highly recommend!
Such an awesome brunch place! So many great vegetarian options too. Our server Krista was the best. Definitely my go to brunch whenever i visit white rock. Edit: the chef was nice enough to give me some tomato jam to take home cos i loved it so much!
Best breakfast/ brunch place in South Surrey/ White Rock area. A must to stop by... variety of Mimosas and hardy filly breakfast that is fresh! We definitely will be going again. ????
Very busy restaurant and for good reasons. Their execution of their dishes is excellent. The chicken and waffles are upscale fare of what I have experienced at other restaurants. The waits can be long, but if you don't mind eating at the bar, it might be a good option to skip the lineup. The service was very good, friendly and attentive. There is a play area for kids at the back, and they do validate parking for your vehicle if you do choose to park in the lot at the back.
Would love to know why the menu is in US$? Heard great things about it, wish they could share their patio with WR Beach Beer, maybe provide takeout.? And I twas to order something from their menu but they were. Closed according to google.. Perhapa anpther time, mayne thry can work. A deal with WR BEACH BEER.not impressed. Heard great things but would love to try it!!
Never had a bad meal here. Highly recommend making reservations or having someone drop by to add your name to the list as it can often be a 1-2 hour wait for the table. It is extremely difficult to get through by telephone to ask a question or add your name to the waiting list.
The chickpea patty burger is one of the most delicious veggie burgers I've ever tasted! Friendly staff, great service. Very busy, make reservations ahead of time, weekdays and weekends.
Food is good, but every time I eat here I feel rushed. When I go out for brunch I like to feel relaxed and have time to digest my meal. If you only want customers to stay for 45 minutes for their meal it would be best to inform them of this beforehand. Today we were told we had to go as our table was needed and we hadn’t even finished our coffees. We will not be dining here again.
Awesome aesthetic. Good service and unique takes on classic dishes. It was wildly busy when we went. I had the Forager Benny and a pineapple mimosa. I was impressed! The taste was on point, and the poached egg was PERFECT. I've never seen a more perfectly poached egg. They knocked it out of the park!
One of the best places for brunch ever! Food was very enjoyable, and the French pressed coffee was fantastic. It would have been an easy 5 star, but... On that day, one of the guys just couldn't clean the table and chairs properly. We asked him to clean, and he just quickly cleaned one chair...just one chair. There were at least 3 dirty chairs at a glance. So, we took the liberty of cleaning them ourselves. Talking about cleanliness, the milk bottles that were repurposed to be used as water bottles was a good idea, and a good thing. But...reusing it can be done only so many times. The bottles were clearly overused. They had tea coloured tint...water was supposed to be clear. Especially the clean one, water should not look like tea. We didn't touch the water. One more big downside that happened to be suitable that day: overcooked egg benny. I missed the dripping yolk when I stabbed the egg with my knife. I said suitable because my wife currently preferred it a little more cooked than what normal great benny should be. I will be back again. Hopefully, this time I wouldn't need to clean my own chairs and tables, avoid drinking water from tea tinted bottle, and poke into an overcooked benny.
We were greeted with a smile and warm welcome and the bartender Conner took amazing care of us It was our first time there and definitely won't be our last. Every bit of food was mouth watering . From the jalapeno cornbread to the side salads. Though we didn't bring our kids they are children friendly and have an area in the back to keep the kids busy while you brunch. Make sure to check out this layed back delicious brunch place
The food was so good, I had the Booyah Breakfast Sandwich and the sauce was perfect. Our server, Krista was so nice and really good at making recommendations. I can’t wait to go back and try something else on the menu.
I came here yesterday with 2 of my friends and we were pretty upset with the experience. We asked for a table inside and were told it was going to be a 30-40 minute wait. After waiting an hour we were informed there was a table ready outside for us. We informed the host that we had originally asked to be seated inside, and we were told it would be about another 10-15 minute wait for an inside table, which we were fine with as it was super cold outside and we had dined outside for a previous experience and found it too cold. We were seated inside after 10 minutes and it seemed like everything was all good! However, upon waiting 30-40 minutes for our food, we were told it was “ran to the wrong table” and that it would be out ASAP. Accidents happen and that’s all good but we wish we were told beforehand of this issue as it had been close to an hour we had been sitting there at that point. After this, we waited another 25 minutes for our meals to arrive. Once we got our food, my sausage patty was visibly burnt and I told the server that I would continue eating as we were so hungry by then. In addition, we found that all of the eggs (on the sweet and salty and on the benny) were overcooked. However, nothing was really said or done. I think it was visibly noticeable how upset we were by the whole experience, so the server told us that they felt really bad about the whole experience and were giving us dessert on the house, which was appreciated. Although, since we were there for so long and ready to go, we asked for it to be packed up to go. They gave us 9 mini donuts, but put it in one take out box for the three of us to share. We thought this was a little inconsiderate as we told the server we had to leave and weren’t sure how to share this between us. We appreciated the effort and their recognition of how upset we were, but we just thought that something could have been done to rectify our experience. We have always loved the wooden spoon and have enjoyed every experience, this was definitely an off-day :(
Yummy food. Krista was an amazing server and definitely added to our great experience!!
I went here for brunch on Saturday with some friends and the food is delicious. This place is cozy and the atmosphere is amazing with great service provided. I was very impressed with one of the server's, Simran. She was cordial, very cheerful and recommended the sweet and salty which was delicious. I definitely recommend trying it and hopefully you get her as a server too!
We had a great brunch here with the kids. The service was great, the food was fantastic. They even have a play area for kids in the back of the restaurant. We lucked out and there was not wait, but even if there was it is worth the wait.
We had an amazing brunch. Our server Krista was the best!
This place is delicious! My favorite spot in town. Their sourdough grilled Cheese is perfection and the soups have that home made touch. I want to try other dishes on the menu but I keep going back for my favorites. The alcoholic beverages are also done right. Highly recommend this place! This review may create a longer wait time to get seated lol. It's worth the wait :) Lorianne Palmer
Loved all the vegan options and kid friendly vibe. Our server was awesome
At first impressions, the table was dirty, waitress was stand offish and it took 10 min for anyone to serve us, but once we got a new server she was a delight. Great with recommendations adhering to our needs and making the overall experience enjoyable for our anniversary ???? food was delicious and would recommend
An amazing experience here with my mother. The food was the most delicious meal I've had in years. Every detail was paid attention. The coffee was French press, local, organic, and made to order - just like the food. The restroom was clean, and they even had a play area for children.
This Restaurant is a very strong business with great management. I am extremely impressed on many levels, plus "The Wooden Spoon is a Great Spot for a Pint of Beer". "I clearly see why the Wooden Spoon has a Stellar Google Approval Rating". Thanks for being that strong pillar in the community ......
Third time having brunch at the wooden spoon. The foods delicious and was perfectly portioned where I didn’t feel too full. The potatoes are some of my favourite and you cant go wrong with any egg bennys
The food taste good. Server very professional. Will come back
Loved this place. Food was excellent and fresh and service was awsome. My only suggestion to the restaurant is to add more specialty coffee on the menue.
HOLY HIPSTER, BATMAN! Food was very good, high quality, made with quality ingredients, and the flavour combinations are brilliant. Service was great as well. The guy with the mustache was not our server, but kept checking in on is anyway to make sure we were having a great dining experience. Also, for young children, in addition to providing a high chair they provide a plastic cutlery set (reusable), which I have never witnessed before at a restaurant, it was an excellent touch.
One of my favourite places for breakfast. Amazing food combinations and the mimosa’s are a must have. Nick was a wonderful and friendly server to have dealt with. Great place!!
One of the best brunches I have ever had! My Eggs Benny were perfectly done and talk about having them over a homemade biscuit instead of English muffin. As for my boyfriend's Fried chicken and waffles... OMG!!! But note: this is a weekend item only so make sure to drop by on the weekend. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food and when you order coffee you get your own French press brought to your table. Do I need say more?! Enjoy!
We went there for brunch and it was packed. The food was actually good, however we were surprised to see that it came a couple of minutes after we ordered (with a full restaurant!), which makes me think that most of the food was premade. Service was fine. Some of the bussers were quite loud chitchatting.
Food was very flavorful. Great taste and excellent service ????.
The Wooden Spoon is such a wonderful restaurant! So many great options and the staff is phenomenal. A shout-out to our fantastic, and hilarious, server, Conner, for his recommendations! Will definitely be visiting again.
I usually never look at their menu due to the food being tasty. Today I asked our bartender whats good and recommended three items. One stood out and it was the Booyah Breakfast Sandwich, and adds bacon, I was also curious about the smoked brisket so I added that in the burger. Overall a good burger.
Krista was da bomb!! The sweet and salty was the best breakfast I've ever had!!
We went for brunch at 10am..called ahead to be put on the wait list as this is a popular spot..luckvly to get a spot by the window so it was noise reduce. Food was amazing...Nutella and banana French toast and vegi fritatta...totally reccomend Made the epic decision to take my mom here to eat for brunch yesterday and it was amazing. I’ve been here once before and my mother hasn’t. It was amazing, service was awesome and the food was epic.
Krista was an amazing server!! She made our first experience here so memorable. We will definitely come back :)
Such a great place! Super friendly and accommodating staff, amazing kids area, and the food is so so great! I'm the worst kind of restaurant diner (vegan and gluten free) and was able to have them do an avacado toast on gf bread (which I'm almost sure is Pikaniks honey bread which is so so good). Nice to actually be able to eat something other than a plain salad for once! Other diners in our party had great normal person food that I salivated over. We will be back!
Great food!! Best service by Conner, he really rocked the house. Will be returning just for his service.
The food was amazing and our service from Connor was unmatched, would come back and would recommend:)
Chez was our server and she was extremely nice and super friendly!! The food was delicious and the donut holes were heavenly. Was my first time dining here and definitely won't be my last!
I loved the food here. It was so delicious. We went for brunch and had 'The champ' burger. My coffee was really good too. No wonder this place is so busy. We had an hour wait at 10 in the morning. But we took the bar option which was only 15 mins wait. Next time I would like to sit down and eat properly. Highly recommend this place but make sure to reserve before going there. Ambience 4 /5 Service-4/5 Food-5/5
Excellent food and atmosphere. Open for lunch & breakfast
Always awesome. Get the wooden Benny.. It's like the first thing on the menu and I can't get past it. ????
Always love having brunch here! The food is amazing and our hostess Emily is so kind and sweet :) great service and the best eggs benny around
Took wife for breakfast today for our wedding anniversary......thought it would be cool as we are busy with kids at night. Drinks in the morning with beautiful wife.....ok. honestly the place was unbelievable, cool atmosphere, great staff and food was top notch. And how could I not have a drink named Rad Dad, or two, light and refreshing as it should be at 10 am. Prices look high, but for what you get on the plate for a serving, and the freshness, it's well worth it.
We had an incredible experience here. The food was incredible and more than anything, what made our experience so amazing was the service. I had a few pieces of eggshells in my poached eggs and our server was more than gracious about it and a replacement came out rather quickly even though they were at the end of their brunch service. Id never sent food back at a restaurant before so I was nervous the kitchen or servers would be upset but they honestly were the most incredible. My husband and I will definitely be going back to try their entire menu!
I love the food at the Wooden Spoon, and have been multiple times. I know there is always a wait, but it usually worth it. My problem lies in how my girlfriend and I were treated by the staff. We hadn't seen each other in five years and both drove 45 minutes to meet up and have brunch. We patiently waited one hour for a table and then were seated. Also, we are both former servers with combined restaurant experience of 15+ years. We were rushed throughout our meal, barely greeted by our server who clearly was not in the mood, quality checked us before we had even taken a bite, and then billed us immediately. She was only even reasonably personable when were paying, when she was eager to call both of us Hun (a major pet peeve as I am 28 years old and don't need to be hunned by someone 5 years younger than me)...but even all of that I understand after working in busy restaurants all my life. She then sent another server to see if "there was anything else they could get for us" (aka--get out), then another server came and asked the same question ten minutes later. Our original server stormed back and crumpled up our food bills in front of us and then walked away. Then 20 minutes later the host told us that we would have to leave, or he could move us to the bar. I literally am disturbed by this so much that I am leaving my first restaurant review ever. You can under no circumstances ask a paying, and tipping, table to leave or move them to the bar, you ask people who are waiting if they would like to be seated at the bar and then apologize for the wait. I used to have tables sit in my section for hours and unfortunately there is nothing you can do, especially not passively aggressively sending servers to give your table the memo to get out. It's a shame because I love the Wooden Spoon's food and have had good service there in the past, but this experience has altered my perception of them and unfortunately I will not be coming back or recommending it any more.
Had brunch there this morning! We both had the Frittata and it was glorious! I really want the recipe for the couscous on the side! I’m sure it is a well-guarded secret! ???? I’ve been there 3 times now and every time the food has been wonderful and the service and staff terrific!!
We've been to the Wooden Spoon on our date night out with friends and then again tonight with all our kids (2.5 and 1 yrs old). Both times everything has been fantastic. Graham made us AMAZING custom cocktails which were the best in the Fraser Valley. The food is outstanding. Every dish was a winner. But you can not miss their burger. And tonight with the kids was the nicest dining experience we've had yet. A nice booth at the back and a playroom let us get up and down without disturbing anyone and enjoying ourselves. Thank you guys for making a family friendly place to have an outstanding meal.
Nice little brunch spot! I had the Sweet and Salty french toast with a side of crispy potatoea and ended with the donut holes with the salted caramel sauce. Try their coffee with the salted caramel sauce and donut hole - IT IS OUT OF THE WORLD! IT WILL TRULY PUT A LITERAL HAPPY FACE EMOJI ON YOUR FACE! Itll be this emoji - ???? Or this one ????
Wooden spoon had the best service, the best food and the best coffee. The food was to die for. I really liked the chicken and waffles and I’m sad it’s no longer on the menu. I love how they have alternatives for everyone. Wooden sooon is the reason why I got into pressed coffee.. their orange juice is freshly squeezed I seeee this place is heaven on earth.
Great food and good service. The waitress was very accommodating and was so kind to our baby. She offered a high chair and brought baby cutlery for him without us asking! Thank you we will definitely come back here again ????
One of the best restaurants you can eat at. Fresh and FULL of flavour! So Damm good it's crazy. Awesome french press coffee. Great local brewers on tap. My favorite place for breakfast. I find it funny anyone that complains especially about a wait for a table... DUHHHH??? It's incredible, so yeah... you wait. It's worth it.
Brunch was delicious! Highly recommend coming here :) Service was great! Ask for Chez- she is on top of it!
Wooden Spoon use to be one of my favourite brunch spots. I came here a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and was not impressed. The server ordered the wrong benny. I did not like the one that was ordered in error. The said the kitchen could not make the correct order as they were now closing to reopen for their burger menu. They did not offer to take it off the bill or comp any of my drinks. They charged me $30 for 2 cesars. I left hungry and upset. I ended up going to mcdonalds and ordering cheeseburgers. I use to speak highly of this place until this incident. I live close by and will not be returning. No one should have to leave hungry due to their error.
Awesome food, great staff, super clean. So glad to be back and the wooden spoon.
This place rocks. Krista was informative, friendly and a super sweet lady. Great food, fun atmosphere …we’ll definitely come back

food was excellent and service was awesome but one thing i didnt like was i was ahead of 2 people and they sat the two people down before me which was a let down but overall the serive and food made up for it
Great breakfast spot, love their menu, nice to have the option of Caesars in the morning too. Consistently busy and I would absolutely recommend this spot!
Our server, Krista, was great! She was very knowledgable about the menu. One person in our party had allergies and had suggestions of ways to accommodate. Food was fresh, good value and good quality. I highly recommend this place.

The Wooden Spoon Bistro in White Rock fulfilled my expectations of a true bistro. With an eclectic Brunch menu i was torn between the ordinary sounding Beef Brisket Hash and the Farmhouse Breakfast. However there is nothing ordinary about the chefs creations. Deciding on the Farmhouse breakfast my poached eggs were sided by a tasty apple sweetened chicken sausage, apple grain salad that had a mixture of tiny diced apples, pearl grain and subtle greens, nicely chewy double smoked bacon, homestyle potatoes, braised roma tomatoe and multi grain toast. The jam was a homestyle strawberry compote which was just right. I was pleased with my choice but perhaps there was too much apple flavours on the plate, so it was nice to have the salty bacon to compliment the appleness. My guest had the Wooden, a fresh buttermilk biscuit benny with double smoked bacon, carmelized onions, and bacon genolata, which she thought was a tasty benny version. As well, if you're a coffee lover, the coffee press is a treat instead of the usual expresso coffee. We unwittingly went at the busiest time on Sunday morning but the wait staff were on top of everything from cleaning and preparing our table, seating us, taking our order, and bringing our order within 10 minute which surprised us to remark upon it. It seats couples and family groups. I'll happily be back to order the Hash.
These people do not play around with brunch. I got the Benedict with the jalapeño cornbread base and woah baby. Blew my mind! They even had a ceasar with pineapple juice, so good. I want to try the French toast next! Currently planning to not eat for 2 days in preparation. Be good or be good at it!
Great menu! I've never had a meal that I didn't love here. I love the vegetarian options and that the kitchen will customize to accommodate their customers. Service is phenomenal and has been attentive and quick every time I've visited. Love the French press coffee!
In our quest to find the best breakfast/brunch spot in the GVRD, The Wooden Spoon is by far the current champion. But please don't tell anyone as we are too lazy to make a reservation. T&D
Excellent service, the servers are always patient with our young kids. Comfort food that doesn't break the bank, with lots of healthy options available. Try to put your name down early, spaces fill up fast but you can often find a spot at the bar.
Amaaaaazing service here. The food was incredibly tasty and fresh. Great ambiance. I left feeling really full, happy and content. 10/10
My family had breakfast this past weekend and were completely surprised about the extra fees on top of our bill! What is this NON-ALCOHOL TAX??? I was charged $8 for NOT drinking alcohol with my breakfast, as well as the GST tax (which was expected). So you're going to charge me for choosing not to drink alcohol first thing in the morning??Also, there was no other option for tip amount--only 15% and above. Why can't I choose my own tip amount on the bill? There was only 3 of us in my party. We will NEVER come here again. So disappointed.
Was in for brunch to catch up with some friends earlier! I had the OG spoon burger with fries, which was a massive serving and super tasty. My girlfriend had the Mac and cheese which is always good from here! Our server Sim was attentive and very friendly to all of us, despite our friends coming later and only having a drink. Overall had great experience today - 11/10 would visit again!
Food and service was incredible. The sweet and salty + a French press of coffee = heaven
I was recommended to go here by a co worker. My friend and I came in for brunch today and upon walking in we had to wait a few minutes to be acknowledged which was fine because it was busy. We were then pointed to a table to go sit at. The table clearly didn't have any menus, but after 5 minutes of us sitting at the table, the server came and asked if we needed menus. She did bring them quite efficiently and a few minutes later also brought some water. We ordered what we wanted ( which was very tasty). Throughout the initial experience of us coming in and then being minimally served we felt the waitress didn't want to be there. She didn't feel the need to greet/welcome us at the table, didn't smile, just gave us the menus, took our simple orders( we ordered the same thing) and left. While waiting for our food, we were then asked to move tables to accomadate another family. That itself was fine in any normal case, but it slightly added to the negative experience thus far. we ate our delicious food. I noticed the table next to us was asked how everything was. Not once did anyone come up to ask us or even crack a smile. I then finished my food up first, and sat there with my plate with a napkin showing I am clearly finished. A different person finally came and took our plates. She immediately asked if we wanted the bill and that was it. I normally do not post reviews and tend to put myself in someone else's shoe, but this experience had to be shared. I hope the owner sees this so they know how unfriendly and uninviting the staff was. There was just barely any interactions between ourselves and the staff with no service or value added to the whole experience, other than asking if I wanted pepper on my food. I feel that a robot might have served us better than the 4 people that we interacted with during our time there. It was my first time at the Wooden Spoon and I had such high hopes for something in the White Rock area.

We've been here before and enjoyed everything but this time we were a little disappointed. Wife's Eden Sandwich would have probably tasted better in summer with veg in season and my Cajun Burger should've been called Garlic Burger. The service and atmosphere were good as before.
We have had 3 meals here and have never been disappointed. We love the eggs benny variations. We love the Forager eggs benny. Service was excellent but because this place is so popular you might have a bit of a wait. And who can go wrong with having a beer for breakfast! One minor quibble but the coffee could be better.
Not so great today! Portions have shrunk, food was dry and not very yummy. Sad because I have always enjoyed going there. Maybe just a one off....hopefully.
Wow, I've been coming in for the past few occasions and was blown away by the amazing service of all the staff at this place. Krista was amazing, Conner was astounding, Nick was super friendly, Ellie was very welcoming, Zia was great and confident at her job, Sim had great knowledge of the menu, Carmen was sweet, Daniel was welcoming and charismatic, Camille was fantastic, Bridgette was lovely, Chezca was incredible, Emily was also welcoming, Lily went above and beyond, Maggie exceeded expectations, Mikaela helped choose a great meal, Taytum rocked it, and Graham and JM were super welcoming, helpful, and sweet. But that was just the service, the food was next level. Familiar lunch options (burgers, mac and cheese, etc.) as well as some new but delicious brunch delights like the spoon huevos (savory corn succotash, crispy, well-seasoned potatoes, avocado, feta, fresh tomato, tortilla chips, along with two golden sunny-side eggs). This place clearly puts in the effort to make their customers enjoy the time they spend here, which encourages us to come back for a second time. Well done, Wooden Spoon!
Great food and atmosphere! Connor created fun and awesome dining experience. He was very attentive, accommodating and made great food suggestions! Looking forward to dining here again in the future!
Okay, because Wooden Spoon asked, I will write a review: The host (maybe the manager or owner as he checked on how our food was) started the experience by telling us it was a 20 minute wait and then he completely ignored us (not even eye contact) for the next 5 minutes as he seated other people. I asked if we could put our name down three times as he walked by and having clearly heard me, he turned his head and avoided eye contact. He then used a head nod to show us to our table. I was about to walk out. The coffee was $4.00 and in a French press. That's kind of a cool idea and I don't mind paying $4.00 for a good cup of coffee. However, this was not a good cup of coffee. Salt Spring Island coffee is not worth $4.00 for half of a french press. Another problem is the plunger was up and the staff clearly aren't trained to know how long to brew french press coffee. No timer was given either. Most of making a good French press is in the timing, so it baffles me as to why this wasn't fleshed out. The food was not very good. Eggs poached medium had runny bits in it, I couldn't even taste the aioli and the cornbread in the pulled pork benny overtook the taste of the entire meal. The spices in the too-small, overcooked and semi-cold hash brown (I guess it was sitting for a while before we were served) tasted weird. My partner had a similar experience with her food. We decided we weren't coming back after spending over $50 on a mediocre brunch with so-so --and at one point rude-- service. There are way better places in the Lower Mainland that know how to make a benny.
Service and food was amazing!!! Chez was our server and provided us a great experience. Will definitely come back!
Cute brunch spot. Airy rustic environment with great brunch food options.
Great service, good food, awesome vibe. I really enjoyed meeting my friends here for brunch. The portions are great, the meals are affordable and the servers are cool. I'll definitely be coming back.????
The food and drinks are always delicious! Conner went above and beyond to provide amazing service.
Amazing food! We ordered the Veggie frittata and Brisket hash and both dishes were amazing. They take pride in their food and the presentation. Coffee is served in a French press which is always a plus. Lots of seating options and a small patio. This place gets busy on weekends so be sure to book ahead when you can.
We had an amazing time today! Krista was an exceptional server.
Great food and service. Wish they have more meat options on their menu
Been to this place twice now and I love the food. The service is excellent. So why am I leaving a 1 star review?! Because you better have like a 6 hour window free to be able to get a bloody table. It’s so frustrating to drive 30 minutes from north langley to have a wonderful nice brunch on a weekend and to be told .. hey it’s a two hour line. Sorry. You can’t wait but like I hope you’re not that hungry. I shouldn’t have to wake up at 6am to be there at 8am to be seated at 9am. This place doesn’t do reservations. Please PLEASE take reservations, even if they are super strict, or expand the restaurant or another location or something. Brunch is supposed to be relaxing. I’ll delete this review if a reservation system is implemented. It’s not fair to ask people to just luck it out. People who live in the area get special privileges then.
Had a wonderful meal here on Mother's Day. Their back patio is very spacious and receives wonderful sunlight during the afternoon. Favourite benny is the Forager, but the Brisket Hash is also AMAZING. They've added a plant based section to their menu as well-- so wonderful that they cater to this demographic! Try the Quinoa Porridge. So delicious! Side note: Burger CO is equally as amazing! El Patron two thumbs up! Food, service, and management 10/10!!!!!
Their brunch is DELICIOUS! The food is super fresh and flavorful. Even the kids grilled cheese was impressive. Our server was lovely, the food came out quickly, and we were able to get seated right away on the heated back patio. Such a lovely dining experience, I wish we lived closer!
Not just a breakfast place, these guys have a killer lunch menu too. I had the Montreal Smoked meat sandwich on the recommendation from my server Krista. No regrets, the meal hit all the right notes.
Have been to the Wooden Spoon on numerous occasions over the past several years! Today my daughter’s grapefruit mimosa was flat, clearly the Prosecco was old. The eggs Benny was perfect but the smash potatoes also tasted old and cold. The smash breakfast sandwich tasted delicious but totally skimped on the beef patty (even though it was smashed)! A few months ago when I visited, the chicken sandwich had 1/2 the amount of chicken as it usually does.
The guy with grey hair was really rude he rolled his eyes when my boyfriend went up and asked for my latte WHEN HE FORGOT to give it to me. Our food was cold when we got it. Hands down the most rudest guy we ever met. Don’t recommend to eat here
Really unhappy with the service I was provided. Reviews led me to believe this place was going to be a great atmosphere and well serviced. Instead the person at the door was rude and unwelcoming so from the get go I was not impressed. Server did not even come back to check how our food was - which was cold by the time it actually reached our table. Felt rushed by staff so they could accommodate other customers instead of tending to their current ones. What I thought was a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal with friends turned out to be the last place I would set foot in. Terrible customer service. Sincerely - unhappy customer.
Had lunch today at this restaurant. Everything was wonderful. I don't know the name of our server but she did have beautiful eyelashes! She was very attentive and got everything exactly right. Just great food and service!
We’ve been on a best hamburger/fries hunt, this was one of the best. Presentation is pretty too, beers from local breweries good and server really nice.
The food is very good, the staff was friendly. There is a little area for kids to play which is very helpful. The only problem I have is how noisy the place is. I find it very hard to hear my table companions. I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids which amplify the noise so am always looking for quiet spots.
Great gem in downtown whiterock. Everything here tastes delicious. And i love that they have gluten/dairy free options & vegan options as well. They also have individual fresh coffee carafe which gurantees your getting the freshest coffee. Only con is that its always so busy ; its hard to get a table on the weekends or at lunchtime
Absolutely amazing food. Great composition of plates and understanding of flavors and a proper breakfast. We will be back :)
Eat the beef brisket. Just do. Don't question why. Then eat the banana bread ice cream sandwich with a friend.
It's a hot little neighborhood spot! The food combinations are delicious and there's something for everyone. boyfriend and I order the Gardener Benny and the forager Benny. Both are vegetarian options and they hit the nail on the head with these. Boyfriend is a meat eater and said he didn't even miss the meat with these dishes. Not on your standard English muffin. The Gardener is on a chickpea Patti and the forager on puff pastry. Well done kitchen team. The service on the other hand was a bit distracted, to be kind. That being said. I will continue to come back here because the food is delicious!
The best place for breakfast any day. Veggie frittata is so so so good. I almost have it once every week. Nice staff, cool atmosphere to go with friends or family.
Wooden spoon used to be my favourite brunch spot in the area until my experience 2 months ago. I had taken 2 friends who hadn't been to Wooden Spoon brunch and ordered an eggs benny. A few bites in, I bit down on something quite hard that hit my tooth. After taking it out, I realized it was a screw. Yes, a screw had somehow made it's way into my eggs benny. As if that wasn't off-putting enough, the reaction from the manager was incredibly frustrating. Instead of starting off with an apology, his first comment was "looks like we're going to make you the million dollar girl". Clearly, his concern was around being sued vs. making sure I was okay.Everyone at my table lost their appetite and sent their food back. With the exception of myself, they were all given bills to pay for their food. Not only did my tooth and jaw hurt from biting down so hard on a screw but I was quite put off of visiting any restaurants after this experience. This review is a bit overdue but I felt it was worthwhile sharing. Not only is a serious quality control missing if a screw can make it's way into a customer's food but this place needs far better customer service.
Smoked meat sandwich was marginal and lettuce was bitter. My soup was tasty but cold. My wife asked for gluten-free bread and it was not gluten free. She became ill.
This has been a favourite of ours for brunch and dinner for a while now. Well, we can add New Years dinner to that list now. We made reservations for an early seating and, as usual, everything was amazing. The service is so friendly and helpful, and never rushed. The ambiance was so pretty last night with all the dim lights. And the food! The variety of dishes and the taste of everything was just fantastic! Thanks for another wonderful time!
This place is still amazing as ever. Service and food are excellent. The staff have taken COVID protocols very seriously from day 1. Today I got the joy of scooping some fresh Malasadas from them, they were warm, fluffy and delicious. Growing up there were a special treat at Grandma's.... These definitely bring back all those memories.
Great brunch at a reasonable price. Had the SoCal Benny. Everything was delicious especially the bonus quinoa salad. Only reason it's not 5 stars was that my buttermilk biscuit was kinda cold... Otherwise no complaints. Would go again
Krista our server was just awesome! She connected very well to us and was very attentive to our needs. She gave suggestions that we all love!! Food was great, sizes were huge and prices are fair! I highly recommend this place….
Our goto breakfast spot in the lower mainland. The service is always top drawer, and the food is creative and quality.
Great little place for brunch. Awesome gluten free options. My only complaint is about the service. My bill was $74. I put down $100. I was asked if I wanted change and said yes. However, the waiter never came back. The service was definitely not deserving of a 35% tip!!! I really feel that servers should not be asking you if you want change. Bring the change and the customer will leave what they find appropriate.
First time here, on my birthday as well and it was phenomenal. The environment and people were amazing and such a fun place to be in. Our server Connor was very friendly, funny and easily made you feel welcomed and at home in the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in the future, staff and food is immaculate !
Went for our First time. Luckily we got a spot right away as there was an hour wait. We sat at the bar and was served by Tanner. Food was fantastic! Service was great ! Nice cozy place. Would definitely go again!
Went for brunch with a friend and had the veg frittata. I got two large meals out of it. My friend had one of the eggs benedict (with chickpea biscuit) and didn't love it, but she has liked everything else she's gotten there. Both gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options and they will work with you on substitutions. Go early, they get really busy at lunch. *Since I'd had such a good meal here with a friend I couldn't wait to bring hubs here. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. Many of the "gluten free" options aren't safe at all. I was able to cobble something together but hubby had one choice. If you have any allergy or food intolerance please make sure to ask your server a lot of questions. While they do have some healthy and probably tasty offerings, Wooden Spoon did not work for us as a gluten free dining option. Changed from 5 to 3 stars because, sadly, it is not what it claims to be.
Conner makes this a super fun and welcoming place! I look forward to coming here for my Sunday coffee!
Great food but a bit overpriced and always long lines knocks it down a star.
Hamburger was good, sadly smoked meat sandwich was lacking in smoked meat. Add 1$ and put in decent quantity, not just in middle. Otherwise was lovely.
Food was delicious, mimosas were on point! Service was great, we had the most friendly waitress, Kristen who was training Chez. They were so sweet and waited on us the perfect amount. Will be back soon!
Excellent food and service, price and drinks not so much. We had the Bay cajun bennies and the Kahuna French toast and both were AMAZING. However, it was somewhat expensive and the drink (High Five) was basically soda mixed with food colorant.
This place was great! Food and service were on point! ✔ Thank you for an awesome first experience! ????
Had such a wonderful experience at Wooden Spoon with my daughter for breakfast this morning. The staff and food was wonderful, a special shout out to Connor our waiter for first class service!
Great atmosphere and fast service! We went for brunch and the food was really good (I had the Sweet & Salty, my husband had the Salmon Benny). The staff seem to work well together and were turning tables over quickly to accommodate incoming guests. They also provide 2hrs of free parking if you park in the lot behind the restaurant. Overall a great experience and we will be back. Edit: came back and must say that they went above and beyond to accommodate my daughter's dairy allergy! I emailed in advance and they called me to go through all the menu options!
Good bunch place with great service !!
mouthwatering large breakfasts with original flair. Very tasty skillets in a really stylish setting. We were sat promptly and served very professionally. The prices are on the high end but the food was worth it.
We attended a wedding in Grand Forks so we didn't go out much to eat but when we did, I am so glad we found the Wood Spoon Bistro! No offence to anyone that lives in Grand Forks but I didn't think I would find a restaurant like this in Grand Forks. The place was very hip and decorated as such. Was there on a Friday around lunch time and the place was packed so ordering and getting our order took about 30-40 minutes but it was worth the wait! I had one of the best Bahn Mi sandwiches I've ever had in my life (it came very close to tasting like the Bahn Mi from downtown Calgary Vietnamese place I know). My husband had "the big cat" sandwich and he also loved it and I only had a bite of his and it was also delicious!
I have been into the Wooden Spoon many times and have always had a great meal with polite attentive service. I have had many of the Benny's that are delicious but my favorite is the buttermilk chicken sandwich, nothing short of awsome. Highly recommend this place, definately a White Rock favorite.
I came in to the Wooden Spoon for the first time today for breakfast and I absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere! Everything was so delicious and our server Connor was amazing and so kind and went above and beyond for us! Thank you Connor!
One of our favorite brunch spot in south surrey/white rock at all times. Very family friendly. Has a little kids area tuck away for little dinners. Not much but it’s something to make them feel special. Food is always yummy. The Benny and poutines are our favorite. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will keep coming back :)
It was my first time at The Wooden Spoon and the food and service were great! I had the wooden benny and it was delicious. My only critique is the biscuit was quite dry and there wasn’t enough hollandaise to make up for it. The flavours were outstanding though. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes!
Food, atmosphere, drinks and staff are excellent here! Easy parking behind. Recommend checking this brunch and dinner spot out. Open 10-3 Monday and Tuesday, 10-10 Wednesday-Sunday. Everything here is delicious! Vegan and meat options available. Great music playing as well!
Really great place ! Lots of variety on the menu with gluten free and vegan options ! I couldn’t believe how busy it was for a Tuesday though ! Make sure you double check before going that you don’t need a reservation! I have the Wooden Huavos and French Press with Almond Milk !
Had such a blast. I come here all the time for brunch and it never disappoints. The food is always amazing and the servers are great. Our server today was Chez and she made our dining experience super fun and memorable. She made great suggestions and was very personable. Always recommend this place and definitely will keep coming back!
The waiter Connor gave an excellent service, smiling and joking with us in a kind way. We loved him!
One of the best brunches I've had in BC. Simple ideas with complex flavours all hand crafted and beautifully presented. Staff are fantastic and extremely accommodating making reccomendations and ensuring the experience is enjoyable. I would highly recommend trying the beach body Bennie (add bacon) on your next visit.
I've had nothing but fantastic experiences here. Specifically if you can get Connor as a server, he really elevates the premium brunch experience that the Wooden offers. Lovely service and easy on the eyes.
Best brunch place around! Biggest issue is what to try on the menu as everything looks incredible! Was definitely not disappointed in the grilled cheese. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.
This place is full of surprises although waiting line was almost an hour it was totally worth the wait - simple amazing - macncheese was one of the best I have tried in BC - service is great
Amazing brunch place if you are looking for somewhere different. Service was great and Sim was so helpful and welcoming.
Connor was our server and he made the experience memorable! Such good vibes and willing to joke around with us while we had a sleeping baby, servers like him make us want to come back :)
First time going here and I had the best experience! From the moment me and my friend walked in, we were greeted and given the option to sit at the bar or wait for a table to be free. We sat at the bar since we were really hungry, and the bar tender/server Josh was soooo lovely to us. He really took care of us and made us feel comfortable. He had a great sense of humor and engaged in great conversation with us while we had our food and checked in at times to make sure we were satisfied. Josh was amazing and the food was excellent and me and my friend would go back to this place 100%!!
Amazing little spot, friendly staff. This was recommended by the guy working the bar. I can't remember his name(sorry) flavourful, tasty and great vibe. Make reservations or come and put your name down on the wait list. Usually about an hour wait.
One of the best brunch spots in the area. Great food, friendly staff. Can't go wrong :)
Went a while ago in the evening, when they do a pop up burger joint. Was a nice vibe with good beer, but the burgers were incredibly expensive and sides were extra. My chicken burger was terrible especially for the price. You can get a better chicken burger for half the price and triple the meat at Popeyes. I'd try brunch there but will never go back for the burgers.
This morning I decided to treat my old friend (who lives in the west end in downtown Vancouver) to this place to have brunch. We are brunch veterans. It’s been our ritual for the past 15 years: we brunch. And this was a change of pace from our regular kits and downtown haunts we’d been frequenting since our good ol’ uni days. I work in gastown so I’m no slouch when it comes to trendy hipster places and good eats so this seemed right up our alley... unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. Honest thoughts: Minus 1.5 stars - The food is overpriced for the portions and quality. I had the “wooden spoon” benny. When the food arrived it was luke-warm (at best) and looked meager in portion. The eggs were over cooked for a benny, over the “medium” as they made a point of stating in the menu, served on a cold, tasteless biscuit (it wasn’t seasoned properly and wasn’t flaky like the consistency of a biscuit should be). The most disappointing part was that the hollandaise was aweful. It is sickly sweet - like sugar! (I’ve had my fair share of hollandaise over the years, buttery, lemony, chipole spiced, Siracha, you name it!). The fact that the hollandaise is sweet needs to be made more apparent at the time of ordering. A small word of advice to management is to train your servers to mention this, a little “just so you know our signature hollandaise is on the sweeter side” goes a long way. All the description said was that it was a “Champagne” hollandaise. The sauce is the star of Benny’s, and it was absolutely not rich, buttery and savoury like a regular hollandaise. Further it was watery in consistency, it didn’t coat the eggs or hug the biscuit as a hollandaise should. In all honesty, I think the sauce broke and they still served it. The side bean, edamame, corn, and kale (? - I think I had like 2-3 piece of kale in my salad, even though it was meant to be a “kale and bean salad”) salad was not dressed or seasoned at all. Tasted like all ingredients were out straight of cans and tossed together without even a light olive oil drizzle, squeeze of lime/lemon or a dusting of salt. Finally the 3 potato fritters (looked more like slightly larger than usual tater-tot in size — and you get 3 of them!) were under seasoned and not cooked properly, rock hard on the outside and undercooked/gummy/floury on the inside. If you’re only going to put 3 pieces on a plate, they better be perfect. The sweetness overpowered all the other elements of the dish completely and wasn’t enjoyable plus didn’t work with the rest of the food at all. Maybe if there was more SALT and seasoning in the rest of the parts I’d find it more balanced but given the lack of seasoning it just tasted like some sweet boiled eggs and bread. Not what I was expecting for $15 a plate. Minus 1/2 star - For service. We arrived at 10:05am. Got coffee by 10:10am, by 10:20am our food arrived. No one checked in on how the food was - so I didn’t say anything. We were finishing eating around 10:30am and were just finishing our French press of coffee, engrossed in conversation I might add, when the servers (3 of them) interrupted us (1x each) and asking us “if we want our bill” and “if we were done”. We left around 10:40am because of how rushed we were feeling. Not something enjoyable at all given the real purpose of a brunch date (and serving coffee in a French press at that) is to catch up. Not to mention, the music was up so loud that we were literally shouting at each other across the tiny tables. I like the hipster decore, and I really wanted to like this place as much as I love my brunch spots in Vancouver. But for the price you pay, the quality of the food and rushed service you’re better off going to a chain restaurant in the South Surrey/White Rock area like White Spot for a solid meal and good service (without being shooed out the door). If you want to be fancy about and want more ambiance go to the Boathouse on the beach for brunch, it will cost about the same, maybe $2-3 more a person (at most!) but you’ll have a better overall experience.
This place was phenomenal!! The service was on point and the food was absolutely amazing! Perfect poached eggs, amazing steak, great cocktails and a cozy interior make this a must visit brunch place!!
Make sure you have a reservation or get there early! Food is AMAZING....Try the Sweet and Salty....I Dare Ya!!
Still pretty good, but there's been noticeable shrinkage. Got the bay Benny and it had like two shrimp on it... for $17. I get that food prices have gone up, but this is ridiculous. Just look at previous photos in the reviews and then look at your plate. Probably 1/2 the potatoes as before. I've never seen my mom or wife finish a brunch meal, but they both polished their plates this time. I'd rather they just raised their prices and kept the portions the same. The food still tasted great. Beyond that the staff doesn't seem to care the front door is stuck open half the time, so if it's cold stay away from the front half of the restaurant.
I was really happy with their brunch. Definitely one of the top brunch places in lower mainland.. Will repeat as their menu is pretty big and I wanna try other stuff too :)
Our first visit at this place was disappointing; however, the owner quickly reacted to rectify the situation. The communication with the owner showed that he took pride in his business and that our first experience was not representative of Wooden Spoon. Upon our second experience, we were immediately greeted by the staff and taken care of. Mimosas were fresh and lively. Coffee was freshly made in a French press. The food came out quickly within 10 minutes of us ordering. Huge portions of fine cuisine which leave you rolling around for the rest of your day. We were checked on often and the service was top notch. Shoutout to Carmen with her genuine smile and her strong sense of management and hospitality.
Went there a couple weeks ago and the food was delish, loved the atmosphere and location! Had a wonderful guy Conner serve us :) Would highly recommend this spot!
Such a great place to go. Delicious food (lots of gf options!!) The Sweet and Salty is my favourite. I also REALLY appreciate how easy it is to bring my daughter with us. Very family friendly. One of my favourite spots to brunch!
The restaurant is very good. I found the brunch to be very tasty and the added bonus was the 2 hrs free parking. Next time I will try to make a reservation as the wait time maybe could be averted. Coffee also was good.
I like their food. But last two visits we got extremely bad service. We stood in the front for 20 minutes three employees walked by nobody even acknowledged that we were there or somebody will be coming to help us. I'm very disappointed in their service.
My favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. Make sure you get there early cause they fill up very quickly and it can be hard to get a table. I usually sit at the bar and love the atmosphere. The bartender is a gem and keeps me entertained. The servers are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the Spoon :)
Visiting from out of town heard this place was a must try and it did not disappoint!! Ordered the sweet and salty from a recommendation from my amazing server Krista who was the most friendly and helpful. Would 100% go back next time!!!
Good atmosphere and great food. I felt like prices were a little high for what was served. The specials don't seem to match menu pricing and receipt pricing. Service was acceptable but I did feel like the wait staff weren't as attentive as what is normally found in restaurants. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for everyone but it's certainly something many people will expect. My only thing bringing it down to 4 stars from 5 is the prices though.
Very tasty breakfast. Unique choices from menu. Banana bread was tasty. The French press coffee was delicious. Service was attentive and professional. Only downside was the noise level was too loud. Otherwise I highly recommend.
My husband is never super impressed but I enjoy the busy atmosphere and the food is great, lots of options to customize for allergies and diets. recently had their sweet and salty french toast with gluten free bread which was great quality bread. My husband does love the personal french press coffee though. What would be nice to see one day would be real loose leaf tea in those french presses though.
Me and my husband for breakfast here on a Sunday, it was very busy. However, the wait was definately worth it the food was amazing. We order the veggie frattiata and the farmhouse breakfast both were really good love the salad that came with the frattiata. Service was okay.
Food was good. Cool vibe and nice decor. Great local sport for brunch and French pressed coffee.
Connor was great! Thank you for the wonderful food and service!
We had a great brunch with the family at Wooden Spoon. All the meals were deliciously satisfying - from the farmhouse breakfast (traditional with eggs, toast, sausage etc) to the veggie frittata to the best of the bunch - banana bread with yoghurt parfait and compote. Add a couple of yummy mimosas, great service and friendly atmosphere, and this place is a winner in the White Rock area.
Grabbed brunch this morning with some girlfriends, food was delish as usual and the service was amazing. Thanks Conner 0025 for checking on us just the right amount ;) we'll be back...
Best local joint you can go to! Food is tasty and their ingredients are always tasty! We were served by Krista and she was awesome! Great personality and customer service! I recommend this place to everyone I see

Second time here. Wait staff was as pleasant and charming as ever. Food was great. Only complaint was the woman sitting next to us was heavily perfumed ???? - so the seating could be a little more spread out.
After getting in an enormous fight with my wretch of a wife Rhonda at the near by shopping mall I decided to leave her there. I came over to the Wooden Spoon and stuffed my face with much food as I could. This food is amazing and made me feel loved and at piece. I won’t be bringing Rhonda here EVER. This is MY new place and she can’t ever know about.
Wow.. Swiss Money Melt burger now in my top 5.. must try list.. My number 1 is still a burger I had in New York, Wagyu Beef burger cost $90 usd, #2 was a burger in Florida served as a monster meal more for the hungry man but was quality food at $45 Usd, but this is is a close competitor especially at $15+ sides CAD.. I have reviewed burgers all over the world at other establishments but this was on my winners list. The kicker is that the music was on point and excellent staff to boot. Phenomenal service but keep in mind I did come later on in the evening and staff are happy to go home but no hassles, but overall I give it a solid 5 ???? From your friends at Premier Tent Rental Cheers, Keep up the good work.... See you tomorrow.. lol
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we got there we were greeted with smiles and efficient and lovely staff. Our server, Krista was so so so good! The food was beautifully prepared and presented and it was beyond delicious. Thank you Wooden Spoon and a huge shout out to Krista!
Lunch
I can't get enough of the place. Everything is delicious but the burger is the best - apparently they experimented with perfecting a pork beef blend that's juicy and amazing. Breakfasts are top notch too. It"s like a little bit of Main Steet or Gastown style restaurant out in a White Rock.
Tasty brunch ! Be sure to make a reservation on the weekends to ensure a spot !
Good food, Good service. Not enough coffee.
This was my first time at the Wooden Spoon, me and my girlfriend arrived went to check out their brunch menu. The atmosphere was great, nicely decorated, chill vibe with good music. From the greeting to seating to ordering and paying the service was exceptional, we even got greeted by the GM. The food alone was enough to leave us satisfied, I ordered the frittata and my girlfriend got one of the Benny's, followed with the banana bread for dessert. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back and recommend our friends to give them a try.
Very busy with limited seating but if you can get get in its worth it. My brisket hash was perfect, and the other dishes being brought out from the kitchen looked yummy. I will definitively go back.
Without doubt, my favourite burger in White Rock - the Spoon Burger takes down all challengers, and with a beer on a Wednesday evening for cheap, you can't really beat it! Brunch is a big favourite of my wife's too. One little bonus feature, like a lot of restaurants in Europe (and too few here), there's a specialized kids area, so the kids can play (or watch Paw Patrol) as you get some time as adults together at the table. Love it!
The other server wasn't so accommodating and she gave us a cup that has a lipstick stain on. Their chef on the other hand is friendly. He walked around and check out on people if their food was okay. They have rear parking. This place is so popular because of social media, so it's okay to try for once but might not come back.
Great place! Location was a bit cramp do to limited parking and construction one street over, but the food and drink was delicious. Definitely going back
I absolutely love coming here for breakfast. There has been a wait time every time I've been there. For 2 people....30 minutes atleast. But once your food arrives...the wait seems worth it. Definitely a go to place for a fancy breakfast option. Cannot compare to basics like IHOP or Denny's or Cora's Breakfast. Wish they'd have a few locations in other parts of metro vancouver.
Service
Great experience at wooden spoon , great ambiance, Great service , specially christa and Bridget were very helpful and efficient.
Food and atmosphere is always amazing!! Conner was our server and made sure that our experience was second to none! 10/10 recommend the Wooden Spoon for all occasions and make sure to ask Conner for one of his special cocktails...you won't be disappointed.
Enjoyed a great brunch today! We made a reservation as we heard it gets busy. We were seated right away, service was friendly and prompt, but most importantly the food was delicious!
Really enjoyed the food, very tasty. Good atmosphere.. Kristadid a great jpb of serving us she was informative, quick and funny.
This place is the BOMB.. so many visits to thos place. Can not say enough about the staff and food. Top notch ????
Good place for breakfast/brunch! The mimosa are delicious and pair well with any of the meals. Waits can be quite long though!
Cozy, busy little spot for a great breakfast or lunch. Staff was very friendly, especially the gentleman manning the bar area who had a great sense of humour and kept us laughing the entire breakfast (didn’t get his name unfortunately). Food presentation is amazing, and the taste does not disappoint.
New favour brunch place, banana bread and yogurt is way to end the meal Also free parking in the back :)
We had cast iron - beef and Cajun Benny. The food and services have well met expectation. Their other signature includes chocolate french toast. Will come back and try that too
I had an absolute blast here! The food and drinks were amazing (Get the wooden spoon eggs benny)! Connor was also incredibly social, funny, and just helpful in finding the right meal! I will definitely be returning here.
I always enjoy breakfast here, even though I do enjoy the same meal every time. I was sitting at the bar and a group came in that had never eaten there before. When the young man next to me asked if I have been here before and asked about two menu options, I was happy to rave about the food to him as well. I truly hope they enjoyed their meal and that they will be back again. I know I will.
I would love to give this place 5 stars from a personal standpoint, but my experience was with my vegan partner. 4/5 because there were no explicit plant-based options. The Harvest Burger is definitely vegetarian, but requires some changes to make it vegan. Not sure if the sauce is 100% plant-based, but we aren’t too strict with that! The fries were good and the burgers were good. I do wish the servings were bigger, but it allowed us to walk around White Rock without feeling lethargic. I recommend sitting in the front patio instead of the back as well! The back was more quiet, but there isn’t a view. We’re more of a quiet couple so this wasn’t an issue, but can be a factor for some customers.
My friends and I went for burgers on Saturday, Emily was amazing! Great service / great food. We all had a great time.
Food tasted like god made it honestly this was amazing. Also our server Conner was very helpful and drippin like a faucet ya feel?
Had a drink on Saturday morning. I was served by one of the greatest Bartenders of all time, Conner. His service and detail to attention was simply phenomenal. Not only was he very attentive, but he also served my drinks extremely fast. He had such a great attitude, I felt like I personally knew him. I will definitely be back to be served by Conner, the greatest, truly spectacular, most amazing bartender of all time.
Worst customer service. I was with my Business Partner for brunch and as the Hostess led us to our table she turned around and said, “here you go, we’d just like the table back within an hour.” We hadn’t even sat down yet. It was not a busy Sunday. We said that wouldn’t work and she asked us how long we needed it for, and we asked for at least an hour and a half if possible, seeing as it was a working-brunch for us. Her response, “No, sorry, that won’t work.” We were on our way out the door. Why proceed to hurry us if you’re not going to be okay with our stay as the most recent walk-ins? I did not see her ushering anyone else to eat and leave. Her tone was disrespectful, she was unorganized and surely hadn’t been doing her job for very long... won’t be for too long either given her communication skills. We had driven over an hour to be here at this ‘word of mouth’ recommendation but surely will not be here ever again, and certainly will not recommend to anyone. Wooden spoon - educate your workers on how to communicate, you’ll have a greater return rate of customers. This could’ve been free publicity for you on our business social media platforms. We were in attendance on Sunday February 28th, 2021 at 11:15am.
We went to the Wooden Spoon last week in Whiterock for a late lunch/brunch and were absolutely impressed with the quality of the food and service. Really unique and tasty meals served promptly and with a smile. Krista our server was awesome. Attentive, friendly and knowledgable. My burger was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, home style thick bacon and great fries, mouth watering! But the best was yet to come. The manager suggested the waffles as a desert and it was amazing!! Best I ever had. My wife and I highly recommend checking this place out!
Loved the menu and decor. Service was great. I really enjoyed my burger with tomato jelly. Delicious. Cool kids area in the back for children to play while parents can eat and watch their kids
Great atmosphere and service. Good food and coffee for brunch.
Went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the service. Our waiter, Connor, was beyond amazing! He brought good energy and laughs! Thank you for such an incredible experience!!
Amazing food! And even has a kids play area!! I should have found this place sooner, would have been a life saver when my kids were smaller.
Meal type
Really cute spot with great menu and very friendly staff. I got the French toast and at first thought it was all thick dough but the inside is cream filled and so delicious. I will definitely come back again.
Lovely. Love the interior design of this place, so unique and it feels like you're at a farmer's house staying for lunch. The food was delicious and prices were good too. They have some unique selections. It was buzzing on a Sunday afternoon with an hour wait but they do have a texting service so you can go for a walk or a coffee and come back when it's your turn.
I absolutely love their daytime menu and have been there many times! Love, love, love. The staff is very friendly and professional, never to disappoint. They recently opened as an evening Burger joint. Needless to say, I was very excited to try it out. The burgers are fresh (I can only attest to the veggie burger) and they kindly accommodated my request to have it subbed into one of the combos that was designed for a meat patty - I always find the veggie burger options too weird - I just want a cheeseburger sans meat and NO alfalfa sprouts ???? - and it was great! Then the end....I just assumed that prices included fries. They did not. Honestly, I don't mind paying $15 to $17 for a burger and fries but I didn't love paying an additional $11ish for two sides of fries on top of $15+ for each burger. I will go back! It was delicious! I would like to see prices include everything. A la cart is for white table cloth joints. Please take out the element of surprise. ???? People don't need that right now.
Nice and attentive server who was helpful when I requested an off-menu drink. Food was very good and menu is quite unique
Just moved nearby and this very quickly became our weekend brunch. Our server Nick is phenomenal and always creates a comfortable atmosphere. PLEASE KEEP THE SO-CAL BENNY. It’s the missing piece of your Benny options.
Incredible brunch food and atmosphere! Phenomenal staff and service. I am blown away every time I go. Be sure to make a reservation as they are always busy! Worth the wait.
We had brunch at The Wooden Spoon on Easter Sunday. Our daughter and son-in-law requested poached eggs medium. They were barely cooked, whites were completely runny. When they complained, a woman came over (the manager?) and apologized but made an offhand comment about “you know how difficult eggs are” as if it’s the eggs’ fault. Nothing was taken off the bill. Our son-in-law said “We won’t be back”. Really pathetic to give a half baked apology and do nothing for the customer. Also, my eggs were cooked over easy just fine but were tepid. We won’t be back either.
Great brunch spot and very kid friendly as they have a play area. Kind and friendly staff. The food was amazing too. Will definitely come again.
The staff were sweet and accommodating but their music way too loud and, I think, highly detracting from otherwise nice decor/atmosphere.
The wooden spoon is an amazing place for brunch. It’s definitely one of my go to places now. I’m gonna bring everyone I know here when I get the chance ???? • We got the beef brisket hash, and the sweet and salty! 120000% recommend them both ???? the beef brisket hash I actually fell in love, it was so flavourful I didn’t need to add anything to it! And the yolk was super soft and runny, that orange yolk made me cry in happiness for a bit! The sweet and salty had the perfect taste ratio. With bacon and cheese on a semi sweet French toast with the light drizzle of maple syrup on it! It wasn’t too rich, nor was it too sweet perfect amount! • Drinks were super unique I got the high-five (no alcohol in it) and on its own you may think it taste like a Prosecco, which is very sweet. But when combined with the food you get it’s a pallet cleanser and it’s delicious ????. The French press coffee is super unique and cool. • True hidden gem and must try! ———————————————
Had brunch and it was pretty good! Drinks and food were both tasty. They provide a free 2 hour parking pass.
Hit or miss. Some great food (their hollandaise is amazing), but others that miss the mark. Value for kids meals is not good (no drink or fruit included). When my wife and I were there, service was very poor.
Visited here last Sunday during the farmer’s market. It’s a nice brunch spot when spending the afternoon to relax in White Rock. Food: Must try the chicken apple sausage (as part of a brunch dish or as a side) - they are deliciously tasty. Compliments to the bartender (sorry, I can’t recall his name!) for his awesome food + drinks recommendations, and personable & down-to-earth attitude when serving us. I usually don’t enjoy Caesars, but he made a killer one! Will be coming back to visit soon.
The food was outstanding!! Service was just soso but we would definitely come back.
We had a wonderful time. Our waitress was great. Food was amazing, only criticism is the poutine gravy was a bit salty for my tastes. Otherwise everything was excellent. You must finish a meal off with the donut holes. Yummy
Thank you, found this Gem on a day trip to White Rock. Had to wait 30min for a table but it was worth it. Friendly staff amazing food and kid/big kid friendly. They have a kids room in the back with a pac man machine!! Make sure to try the sweet and salty.
A welcome addition to the brunch landscape of the suburbs. The caesars are great, and anything I've had on the menu has been delicious. When I took my grandma, she was blown away by the size and contents of her drink (see photo) It's nice that there are both sweet and savoury brunch options. There is also great french press coffee that makes for a perfect addition.
Will drive for food! Always worth the drive from Burnaby and can’t go wrong with Happy Hour burgers and beers. Food was delicious and amazing as always… the Big Bird is a must! Thanks Sim and the Spoon crew for another stellar night!
It’s Father’s Day at 930 am. My sister attempts to get a table for 7 but of course due to COVID-19, the maximum per table is only 6 . The person getting the names down( The host/server Jim?? Caucasian male with 6’0, medium build, blonde hair, blu shirt with blu mask) then said “good luck getting someone who will seat you”. So we didn’t get our names written down. My sister then tried again and kindly requested to get seated separately, and willingly eat at different times just so we can try this place out, the same male then kept giving my sister all these reasons to not write our names down “we can’t seat you at the same times, the chances of getting you guys together blahblah”. My sister walked away so I called the male myself on the phone and asked why won’t you just take our names down, we are willing wait however long, we are willing to eat at different times, no matter how many hours it will take. The highlight for Father’s Day is suppose to be to try this restaurant out. The male just really did not want to accommodate our flexibility. He would rather list a name of a couple down and chase them down the street to give them a menu and he would rather argue with me over the phone telling me how he can’t seat me because covid because the long wait due to Father’s Day and farmers market???? Really unfortunate.
Love the aesthetic and atmosphere here. I'm personally not a huge fan of bennies on biscuits (esp. if they're sweet biscuits as opposed to savory) but overall the food was tasty and well plated and the service was excellent.
Good service and high quality of food. And coffee was great!! It's worth to visit here.
Great brunch today at wooden spoon! Used to always come here precovid for burgers but the bennies didnt disappoint! Service was great and felt super safe with the nice dividers that were placed between tables. Hand sanitizer was everywhere and a nice online menu was provided! Will def be back and highly recommend!
Super funky brunch place with an awesome and creative menu. Best hash — brisket, gravy, cheese curds, peppers, roasted potatoes — I’ve ever had to date. AND fabulous coffee is served in a French press. ???? Worth the drive and the wait, we will definitely be back.
The best place for brunch! Our server, Chez, was so friendly and helpful with recommendations :)
Love it! My favorite Lunch place in Grand Forks. Amazing flavors, fresh ingredients, friendly service, welcoming atmosphere
First time going to this place today. 1st off KRISTA was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable on the dishes and very personable. 6 of us LOVED our brunches. We will definitely be coming back very soon. ????????????
Ordered the sweet n salty, my favorite item on the menu. Lovely treat from my wife a couple weeks ago for my birthday. Always leave stuff and satisfied at this restaurant. Personally, I'm happy with the interior design the way it is. I disliked the art that was hung there. Price is reasonable and food is delicious! Free parking as well if you park in the back and go inside for a parking voucher!
Great menu, focuses on quality and not quantity! A variety of spins on their mains making it a true brunch and bistro! We were visiting and had an excellent time! The food was so tasty! I recommend the Montreal smoked meat sandwich! Especially if your from the east,it’s a nice spin on a classic! Friendly staff/host and a good atmosphere. Lots of couples and dinning for two. Excuse the half eaten sandwich pics but couldn’t resist or wait!
If you live in South Surrey and want to experience a more interesting menu than the other local spots this place is a must. Much needed addition to the local White Rock restaurant scene. It's been busy when I've gone there for breakfast on the weekends but quiet on weekday evenings. Highly recommend
Loved it from the moment we walked in. Sat at the bar for brunch. I tried the Sweet and Salty and my partner in crime had the Benny. The dishes were well presented and the food tasted amazing! Our server, who was the bartender as well, took excellent care of us. Be prepared for a bit of a wait on the weekends...but it's definitely worth the wait...we will be back :)
Nick was the best server! Made our first visit so enjoyable. If you ever book request for Nick!!! Food 10/10 :)
It's so nice to have a nice breakfast/brunch spot on this side of the bridge. Food was was amazing, especially enjoyed the potatoes and hollandaise sauce.
Over priced for what a person gets. Compare the cost and quality to Laure’s Coffee Shop. The service was poor. Once the food came we had to ask for everything including salt and pepper. We will not return because there is better available.
Excellent customer service. The food is amazing! One of my favourite places to go for breakfast however, it is quite busy so be prepared to wait if going on a weekend
Great restaurant in White Rock. Great modern casual dining with ample selection. Good beer and drink menu and the bar staff can mix up a nice drink off the menu as well. Breakfast/brunch is out of the park awesome. Coffee is only by the carafe which is delicious but can take people by surprise. It is packed for brunch.
Definitely a must try when it comes to their brunch! Their bennies and French press are delicious, same with their homemade soups! Tons of Gluten free options and as a celiac I feel very safe eating there. 10/10 would recommend!
Second time going to burger nights on Friday and being served by Sim! She made awesome drink and food recommendations. Just remembered to write this now but she deserves it! Memorable experiences both times :)
We loved the Wooden Spoon! We were a few weeks ago for dine-in brunch (when it was permitted during different COVID-19 restrictions). Easily the best part of The Wooden Spoon is the food - it is really incredible. We had the Huevos Rancheros and Cinnin’ Grandpa French Toast, and both were so delicious. I wanted to try so many other items on the menu, so I can’t wait to come back! The coffee was on point, service was quick and friendly, and great ambiance and set-up. I can’t wait to come back to try other delicious items on the menu.
very impressed. the staff was friendly, food was amazing, the drinks were unique and delicious. can't say enough good things about this place. we'll be back for sure! thanks again Peter and staff.
Excellent food and service. Very clean and Covid compliant. You have to try it.
Food was amazing!!!! Best Caesar's in town. Conner was a phenomenal server, he made us feel right at home. Coming back again for the great food and service.
Connor was the absolute best waiter I have ever encountered!!! He was so friendly as were all the staff there. The food is first class and absolutely delicious. Make sure you get the French press coffee as it is something you will definitely enjoy.
It was our first time there. Food was ok, service was not great as not very organized at the door. Not crazy about it. Not too many choices for me to eat as well. Yes for sure some feedback to improve and to visit if customers input is imp to you. Have people not gather at the entrance maybe one party at a time to show the vaccination? Second my Bill was 30$ something and the waitress asked me if I would like to pay the full 50$ to it?? Was she asking for a 20$ tip I don’t understand??
Amazing and unique food and service!! So much fun to be served by Conner!!
One of the best breakfast/brunch joints ever!! Such a great atmosphere, space, and the servers are all so amazing. I rarely write reviews but after having Krista as our server, she truly made our experience and is the best ever!! She is so sweet, thoughtful, funny and very knowledgeable. She works so hard!! Thank you to Krista and Wooden spoon for an amazing dining experience!!
I was here a few years ago and remember having an amazing breakfast with great service. I brought my partner in to try it and was disappointed to see it was not the same. It use to feel more like a family run restaurant and had a cozy atmosphere. Now it felt more like a bar. It was hard to get the attention of anyone working and a lot of them were too busy socializing. There seemed to be a very casual and non professional vibe. My meal was ok but the hollandaise on my bennies were runny and lacked flavour. My potato fritters were hard on the outside and gummy on the inside.
It was ok. Super busy which is the usual. The hostess was terrible. Super unfriendly and wanted to get back to chatting with another table that was already seated. The food was OK... I ordered the chicken and waffles and I literally saw the cook walk past with a sleeve of frozen belgian style waffles. WTF... I would never have thought they would use frozen waffles. By the way they advertise I would assume its all made in house. I asked the bartender about it and he said they were working on making them from scratch. Im no chef and I own a waffle maker not really sure what would need to be worked on... I likely won't be back again and would reccomend several other establishments over this one.
My friends were visiting from Calgary and Seattle so upon recommendation, we decided to check out this popular brunch restaurant and we sure weren’t disappointed! Enjoyed our brunch! I had made reservations about 12 hours before and someone contacted me via email and put me on wait list! When we got there, we didn’t have to wait at all and were looked after very well! I tried the Veggie Fritata as recommended by the server (sorry I forgot her name) and I absolutely loved it! Very fulfilling brunch! I would go again!
Delicious food, great service and amazing fun. We all came to celebrate my daughter's 28 th birthday. So thank you Wooden Spoon for such a great experience. ????
Its really good food but allmost everything on the menu is 17$ plus tax and tip, and you dont get very much food.
